Chapter 773: Might of a Rank 8
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
Holding the Demon Slayer in his hand, Lin Jin waited for the right timing to toss it forward. Tianzun noticed Lin Jin’s intention and his keen observation told him that Lin Jin’s blade was unique, so he handed Lin Jin a sword amulet to aid in his cause.
Lin Jin graciously accepted it to enhance mana on the sword.
For a moment there, Lin Jin felt as if his intent was linked to the Demon Slayer. It was a strange sensation. He pointed forward and the Demon Slayer flew in the pointed direction with enhanced speed, piercing through the sky in an instant. Before Black Tianzun caught on, he was pierced in the chest and nailed to the wall of the Heaven & Earth Furnace.
The scorching flames immediately devoured him.
However, due to his indestructible body, no matter how much the fire burned him, it couldn’t completely exterminate him. On the other hand, Black Tianzun couldn’t escape either. With the Demon Slayer through his body, he couldn’t move at all. He could only let himself be burned, get reincarnated, and then perish again—an endless cycle of suffering.
He screamed hysterically but Lin Jin and Tianzun exchanged satisfied glances instead.
“Mr. Lin, this sword of yours is interesting. It’s not an immortal sword nor does it have a piercing aura, yet it could suppress demons. It’s very interesting indeed. Can I borrow it next time to examine it?” Tianzun had probably never seen anything like this before so his curiosity was piqued.
Lin Jin nodded. It wasn’t a demanding request. If Xiao Huo truly managed to advance to Rank 8, lending the sword wasn’t an issue. Though, Tianzun obviously didn’t look like he would just examine the sword upon obtaining it. He probably wanted to try slaying his inner demon with it too, to see if the sword would kill it once and for all.
Now that the Demon Slayer had pinned Black Tianzun down, forcing him to be continuously burned to death by the Heaven & Earth Furnace’s flames, they might not even have to wait for another day for the demon to perish here.

Lin Jin and Tianzun started chattering away, talking about many things. Lin Jin mentioned a little about blood contracts, and for a person like Tianzun, he immediately grasped the concept with great proficiency even though Lin Jin hadn’t actually revealed much. He even managed to practice it in his own unique way and tried performing it.
Tianzun performed a blood contract technique, successfully forming a pact with the green fish. Then, he invoked a spell and a green flash flew out. The green fish actually enlarged in the air, growing up to more than ten thousand feet long. It could even swim in the sky without water, finally displaying strength befitting its Rank 8 identity.
Tianzun was enjoying himself after learning about blood contracts. He also quickly grasped how to enhance his strength through a blood contract. What sounded complex to the average person, he easily comprehended and performed with amazing proficiency. He even learned what would require months to digest and master in a few short moments.
Not only that, Tianzun tried another spell and chanted, “Fish into dragon!”
The ten-thousand-feet-long fish glowed with an emerald light and began to elongate. A dragon’s head and claws grew on it, and the green fish suddenly turned into a dragon of the same length.
“Haha, this is interesting, very interesting indeed! Let’s try a Universe Transformation too!” Like a child with a new toy, Tianzun’s eyes lit up. He raised a hand to point forward and what unfolded next made Lin Jin’s scalp prickle. That green dragon was already humongous enough, but after a Universe Transformation, it actually grew ten times the size it was.
Lin Jin had no words to describe what he felt because he couldn’t even see the dragon’s entire appearance anymore. For a moment there, he felt as if he was looking at the Rank 9 immortal devouring beast.
Although Tianzun’s green dragon was slightly inferior to the immortal devouring beast, it was actually quite close enough.
A Rank 8 immortal beast was truly powerful.
Especially when Tianzun was adept in spells. He may not be an immortal anymore so he couldn’t cast high-grade spells, but he could perform them through his pet beast via the blood contract.

In other words, Tianzun was no different from his old immortal self now.
It was no wonder Tianzun enjoyed himself so much that he couldn’t stop.
“Hehe, let’s try a Star Consumption!” Tianzun kept going, and the unbelievably huge dragon moved upward to swallow a star in the sky.
It actually swallowed it.
Then, it swam toward the void, passing through various planets, an intimidating sight. Lin Jin’s jaw hung open as he watched, unable to even speak.
The other immortals were no different from him. They had now hidden far away, watching fearfully.
They had other concerns like, what if the dragon caused trouble? What if it attracted the immortal devouring beast over to where they were?
However, some of them mused that Tianzun’s green dragon might be able to face the immortal devouring beast.
If the immortal devouring beast was eliminated, immortal cultivation could return.
With this in mind, they became excited and one could even see them planning for this possibility through their eyes.
Lin Jin considered that too.
“Thunder Enhancement!” Tianzun continued performing high-grade immortal spells. Green electricity began to surge through the green dragon’s body. As if it had donned an armor of electricity, the dragon appeared to have reached its peak.
“Stop!” Lin Jin suddenly called out.
Tianzun was stunned, but upon seeing Lin Jin’s serious expression, he thought of something and hesitated. Then, he called, “Return.”
The next instant, all spells faded away and the dragon turned back into a tiny green fish, swimming back toward them and falling back into the water bucket. It swam around happily as if nothing ever happened.
Tianzun looked at Lin Jin and Lin Jin didn’t back down. Both men stared at each other.
“Were you hoping to challenge the immortal devouring beast?” Lin Jin voiced out Tianzun’s plan.
Tianzun nodded. “I did think of that. What? Do you think it’s impossible?”
Lin Jin nodded. “That’s right. It is impossible.”
Tianzun was a little annoyed with his reply.
He had indeed been practicing, simulating, and learning just now. He even managed to raise his blood contract realm, and now he could perform spells that only he was capable of in the past.
Through the dragon, his spells were now much more powerful because beasts had stronger foundations than humans.
Tianzun thought that if the immortal devouring beast appeared, they would just fight. He had been tolerating for two thousand years and had been only able to hide here because he didn’t have power. Now that he was much stronger than before, he didn’t want to pretend like nothing ever happened.
He wanted revenge.
Many of his disciples and successors had died in the hands of the immortal devouring beast and Tianzun couldn’t possibly let that go.
Hence, he was angry when Lin Jin stopped him.
Angry at Lin Jin.
Lin Jin didn’t fear Tianzun’s fury at all. He simply said, “If you were to challenge the immortal devouring beast now, you would still lose. What’s more, if we provoke the immortal devouring beast now, all of us here won’t be able to escape.”
He wasn’t kidding.
Lin Jin may not be an expert in other fields, but he had absolute confidence in knowing which beast was stronger than which. Tianzun felt that his dragon could challenge the immortal devouring beast after being enhanced by spells. But for Lin Jin, a Rank 8 was just a Rank 8. No matter how powerful the Rank 8 beast was, it couldn’t win against a Rank 9.
His reasoning was that simple.
That was why he spoke up, to ask Tianzun to give up this risky thought.
Both men continued to stare each other down. Lin Jin refused to give in, and finally, Tianzun averted his gaze.. He calmed down and knew that he had been impulsive.
