《Garden of Thorns *Lit RPG*》V2 Chapter 37.5 The Objectives.

Overlord of 7th Hell has engaged with Avatar of Seasons.

You will now have objectives in the area!

First Objective.

Capture the flag Push!

Flags have been spawned into separate locations for both teams.

Your respawn will be instantaneous.

Capturing the flag will reveal the flag holder's location at all times! Be warned!

CTF Push requires you to grab the flag and rush to the enemy's base.

Teams may set up defensive perimeters and also offensive perimeters if needed.

Whichever team that captures more flags, you will be giving your leader bonuses.

Example.

Overlord of 7th Hell's Demons successfully pushed 2 flags.

Bonus: 30% reduction on spell casting.

Avatar of Season's Allies pushed 2 flags.

Bonus : 20% increase to ice damage reduction.

"Well. Now that's an interesting thing." Lopt said as he stopped his blade from reaching the Onyx Overlord's neck.

"Why, did you stop?" Onyx Overlord asked Lopt, who merely raised his eyebrow.

"I have an objective to complete. Why don't you just mosey on along to get your allies back together."

"I do not understand your logic. Killing me would be beneficial to you."

"Not when it makes you respawn back at your base, and then give you time to rebuild your strategy." Onyx Overlord paused, then scratching his helmet. This was awkward to say the least. Onyx Overlord then turned to the other demon lords. Both of them gazed at each other in confusion.

"Just go." The Onyx Overlord and the other demons headed to the location of their base which was far from where they were, but the same could be said for the Avatar of Season's Allies.

"Alright form ranks! Everyone who's not confident in offensive measures! Head to the base! The rest of us will go for the flags! Flag bearers are to be those of high speed movement only!"

"Familiars! Same rule applies! Those well versed in defensive combat, head to the base! Defend it to the bitter end! Blue Python team, head to the base. Standby to provide long range cover! M-Frames, cover our asses in the air. Valiants close range support! Danger close on all targets! AS Users, move close with the Orions. Horsemen, move near us. Sword Wolves, Rifle Wolves, support the flag bearing team!" 151 gave the orders as he made his way to the base.

The Troopers began with digging trenches, raising barbed wires. Setting up turret positions as they placed the Hunters to the right positions to handle the situation. The Crimson Reapers, Vizel, Weiss and Donovan were following the Hunters and Venerators to the objective. The hunt for the flags was on as the flags slowly appeared one by one. Vizel grabbed the first flag as the Demon Lords went after him with their servants.

Numbering by the thousands that were swarming him. Continuing his movement to the demon's base.

"Now he's dead! Die human!" Not realizing that Weiss had left petals in their skin imbued with a special magic.

"The Rose of Guilty and the Rose of Calmness. I pity them." 151 said as the other Hunters looked at him with surprise.

"Why is that, Commander?" Jenny asked as she watched the situation with her binoculars.

"Where the Rose of Guilty will always have his enemies locked to his position. The Rose of Calmness will be away from their sights. The petals he makes with his roses are dangerous. Where the Rose of Guilty always tempts his enemies to fight him." They watched as explosions invaded the demons attack. Vizel held the flag in one hand, while wielding Redemption Kai in the other. Slashing through the demons as Krieg joined from the side. Kicking a demon lord to non-existence, left hand firing away the automatic shotgun. Unleashing slugs that turned demons into nothing but splatters of blood on the walls. Right hand wielding a silver revolver.

The demon fortress set up their barriers, where Vizel leaped up into the air. Kicking the Redemption Kai to the barrier, causing a small crack to it. Diving straight into it, having his entire body's weight and the speed increase the piercing effect. Shattering the barrier before their eyes, Weiss would use that opportunity to stand within the fortress. Unleashing his petals that would freeze everything in their path. Supplemented by Cold Cage's black ice.

"Now! Charge!" The charge of the Venerators and Hunters against the helpless demons. Breaking them apart within seconds. A flag was placed at the demon's fortress.

"Come on! We need to keep up the pace!"

The Onyx Overlord carried the flag to the base where the Avatar's allies were, rushing ahead to break through the defensive line with a single blade. 151 could not handle the intercept as a Cerulean Overlord went after him with a long sword. 151 did not have time to assess the situation, the Cerulean Overlord was pushing through with the Oynx Overlord. Their blades collided, 151's thoughts were distracted. He needed to make sure his men were ready to defend their defensive line.

"Where are you looking, human?"

"My duty." 151 answered as he lowered his guard, letting the Cerulean Overlord trip over him. The Cerulean Overlord crashed into a wall, where 151 pointed his pistol at the Cerulean Overlord's head.

"Outsmarted by a simple trick. My skills have gone du-" Ending that dialogue with a single cast of his lightning. Shattering the Cerulean Overlord's body, as he went to check at the base. It had been breached, the damage was intensified. The Onyx Overlord got close, only to be repelled by Lopt. Kicking the flag over to 151.

"I suppose a good offense must count for something. Alright, we'll be changing our strategies! All units we are to engage in guerilla tactics and warfare! We will prepare a special combat defense line! War God!" 151 threw it to Ye Qiu who was surrounded by demons all around him.

"Attack him!" The Oynx Overlord shouted as they began their assault to Ye Qiu. That was a mistake, for the title of War God was given to Ye Qiu by the many Gods of War. Chaos, Holy and even the Neutral Gods were astound by his combat prowess. A literal one man army, who's ability was not by using magic. But by tearing an entire army with his weapons. The only equal to Ye Qiu was the Avatar of War from Kael's world. Even then, the two of them had bouts where even the Supreme God of Creation had to ensure worlds would not be destroyed by their bout.

Silas was going to witness first hand to why Ye Qiu was given the moniker War God. A swing of his dagger axe with the spear. An ominous sense of blood lust ripped into the air. Like a droplet of water that fell into a lake. Small, but the taint that it caused unleashed a havoc that would poison the air all around them. Ten thousand demons in one blow, one demon lord gripped Ye Qiu's shoulder. Where Ye Qiu snickered at it, then flicking its head. Sending it flying to where Silas and Mizerka were fighting. Silas stopped as his blade was at Mizerka's throat. Spears of ice were inches away from Silas's entire body. Even with the Coat of Crimson, the damage negation and dodging the attack would not be great.

"Why did you stop, Avatar?"

"The demon is not part of our fight." The demon lord flew back to the battlefield where they'd belong.

"Merciful even in moments like these? You must be unfazed by everything." Mizerka said as his spears of ice exploded into small crystals.

"Let's see how you fare with this." The crystals began shattering into finer particles, but Silas unveiled a flame barrier around him. Watching the particles crash into the barrier, shattering it with sheer force of numbers. Even if Silas dodged one, he would be faced with another blow. His senses were going numb. His mask was alerting him of the attack path, even using his ability to read the flow of mana was useless. Everything was going haywire by the second. He felt the blows striking his body, pushing him back as Silas chuckled.

His high endurance stat meant that he could endure it but that didn't mean he came out unscathed. Lifting a bit of his mask, as Silas coughed out some blood. Tapping his stomach a few times as the particles fell out. Unveiling as sharp small glass pieces falling to the ground. Burning within his heat.

"Vermillion Flames. Body coat." Silas said as the flames coated his body. The never ending blizzard was being unleashed, turning the battlefield where they stood on into a winter wonderland.

"Hmm.. Still standing I see." Silas sheathed the Grieving Thorn.

"The 7th Movement, Whispering Blade." Silas whispered as Mizerka's armor was slashed into non-existence. Revealing the youthful man beneath it. He had horns by the side of his head, they were pointing forwards. Pale skin like a corpse.

"To think that my armor was broken by that blade. it must be the Thorn sharpness."

"Perhaps." The atmosphere had changed according to Silas's words, as butterflies of flames appeared all around them. The snow touched a butterfly, where it was melted into nothing but vapors.

"So you have somewhat of a control over the elements. Though it pales in comparison to mine." Silas and Mizerka heard a notification.

Flags Delivered.

First 2 for both sides.

Avatar of Seasons : Ice damage reduction up to 20%.

Overlord of 7th Hells : Ice spell cast has been cut by 30%

"I will crush you under my heel, Avatar of Seasons."

"I'll burn your ice into nothing but vapors." The words were exchanged as Mizerka raised his hands, the blizzard began to turn into a snow storm. Silas's vision was already blocked. Thermals would be useless considering the Overlord of 7th Hells does not radiate heat, only cold. The butterflies would flutter about, stopping the spears of ice from reaching Silas's side.

"May you enjoy the rest. Of Nifleheim." Silas heard. The snow storm subsided, whereby the sky was now a gigantic block of ice. Seeing Mizerka float beside it, where he lowered his hand. Causing the ice block to crash down upon him. It was going at high speed, breaking the sound barrier as it crashed to the ground.

Mizerka kept his eye focused, for once he was unsure if the Avatar of Seasons had perished. Yet Mizerka had a belief that the Avatar of Seasons would not fall nor would he falter. Silence poured into the air, but Mizerka was sure that was not enough. It was something that had beaten the Lord of Thorns of the past but not this one. In the end, he heard a zip in the air. Thick fog began to envelop the surroundings. Even to the battlefield where their allies were fighting.

Hearing the ice cracking up. Something was coming, but where? Mizerka caught a glimpse of the black streaks amongst the fog. The eyes gazed back, where a blade parted the fog. Mizerka's arm flew off. Dashing back, forming ice pillars to gain some distance. Freezing the fog in an instant. Everything went quiet, not a sound was heard. This time, Mizerka couldn't trace anything. Not even Silas's heart beat.

Bracing for a confrontation, Mizerka kept looking around as the ice formed his arm once more. That was a first for Mizerka, the sensation of losing his arm.

He is quite the fighter isn't he? The voice of Kaglar was heard in his mind.

Quite so. No surprise you lost to him. He's ferocious.

Glad to see we're on the same page, but the fight's just starting. He may not have your skill set or your mana control. But he's a creative one. Duck, brother. Mizerka instinctively ducked as he looked at the bullets finding its home to the pillar behind him. Mizerka backed away as the bullets began to unleash heavy flames that created a thick fog once more.

Freezing the fog would be useless if he continued. The fog must be affecting Silas as well.

"Found you." Mizerka casted an ice pillar to the sound of the voice. Where flames erupted when the pillar made contact. The steam was intensifying, it was bearable for Mizerka who was of the ice but this tactic made no sense. How was he able to tell where Mizerka was? Was it that blade? Or was it just the katana's unique feature?

"The Seasons gather for a reunion." Those words echoed all around him, whispers that reached his ears. Multiple voices, a distorting bit towards the end as Mizerka took a step back. Narrowly dodging a katana to the throat but Silas was nowhere to be seen. A loud click of a weapon, Mizerka dodged as gunfire ripped into the air. Continously, Mizerka created an ice barrier around him. He began to cast a number of spells, unleashing the horrors of winter down the battlefield. An ice that would leech mana away, an ice that would turn everything into nothing but frozen hellscapes.

A hand appeared by the barrier, Silas was in full view. Punching the barrier repeatedly. It may be able to withstand blows, but the tenacity to break the barrier with his bare hands was odd. Was he planning something else? Clawing his fingers into the cracks, then ripping it up. Diving straight into the barrier as Silas's gloves turned into claws. Swiping Mizerka repeatedly. Movements that were faster than the eye could track. Even an Ancient Demon's eyes would have a limit. Mizerka left an ice copy of himself as he left the barrier undetected. Silas destroyed the copy as expected but he looked around.

"Seems like I cannot fight you conventionally. You use creativity and create situations that would be beneficial to you. Not to mention you have the home advantage. I realize that no matter how much mana I absorb from this place. It's constantly being supplied."

"I guess mana is your strong suit."

"Of course, my brother was too busy learning about war rather than studying the arts of magic. Though I can't help but be intrigued. Is this what you're really like?"

"Yeah. This is how I am. I try to mix my combat with various weapons and magic. Though I can tell it's not as efficient against you."

"It was brilliant. Your speed had lost me a number of times and I was not expecting that barrier to break. It's very unorthodox."

'I'll take it as a compliment." The two continued with their duel.

Meanwhile back to the other battle.

Onyx Overlord and Cerulean Overlord was pushing the flag to the next position. Whereby Lopt and 151 stopped the duo from moving ahead. The demons behind them were being gunned down by the ones hiding in the buildings.

"Damn the cowards. Not facing in melee combat!" Cerulean muttered in anger as he kicked 151 away.

"It is a sound tactic, Cerulean. I cannot help but realize our soldiers are too big to fit into the buildings. We've been complacent in fighting them with our size." Cerulean shook his head as he stomped on 151's body. Seeing 151 desperately trying to claw the boots off the Cerulean Overlord, a futile attempt. But that defiance was something that Cerulean had not expected. A glimmer of vengeance in the eyes of 151, a Familiar that refused to back down. Even if it was human, normally they'd be screaming for mercy.

"Just what are you?"

"A proud commander of the Suicide Division!" 151 said as he stabbed Cerulean's leg, rolling to the side as Cerulean slashed his arms off.

"Orion, remove my mask!" The Orion did that as 151 bit the grip of his blade. Cerulean could not help but understand that meaning. Suicide. When a human kills themselves or die trying to accomplish something. The one before him, which was it did he wonder? A glint of defiance in the eyes, the body had not given up. An unshaken will that not even demons had. A momentary glance to the back, Cerulean could see some of the demon lords being overwhelmed by mere humans. A werewolf snapping off the neck of a demon baron with its teeth.

No matter. It was nothing but a futile attempt, Cerulean's swing cut 151 in half, where the other soldiers had seen the death of 151 before their eyes. Yet, they didn't show fear. Rather, they were far more riled up than anything else. Onyx Overlord was busy with Lopt. Cerulean grabbed the flag, staring at the ones before him.

"Fall to my blade!" Cerulean roared. Bulldozing the entire human defensive line, 10 Goliaths went to stop him. Only for them to be pulled into Cerulean's blood thirsty blade, scarlet painted his Cerulean armor. No disgust towards them, but rather joy. Joy at seeing warriors who were unshaken by the death of their leader.

Humans huh? What a unique breed of idiots. Cerulean had thought as he planted the flag, the third flag to be placed.

"Head to the other flag, Cerulean! I'll hold this one off!" Onyx spoke as the sword fight intensified against Lopt. The Blade Tyrant was no joke, the way the sword flowed against Onyx was clearly a means of dominating him. A sword art that was crueler than words, it was toying with him. Even with the demonic swordsmanship that he possessed, it was not enough. Just what would it take to make a Tyrant fall? Fast swings were not the answer. Heavy blows were easily parried. Trying to strike a balance between the two was difficult in a situation where the Blade Tyrant's sword reigns supreme.

To make the Blade Tyrant fall, Onyx had realized it. He needed to be defiant, he must maintain that resolve. Slowly losing his will to fight or feeling that it is impossible. That would be his downfall. He doesn't need to win. He just has to keep the Blade Tyrant occupied. The heavy swings from the Blade Tyrant would push Onyx back. Step after step, it was intensifying. Their blades were of the same nature, yet the result was different. What was the difference?

Onyx's mind was being clouded with such thoughts but the bout was stopped by Seijuro who cleaved a path between them.

Bonus Objective in place.

and many more...

"Now that's interesting." Lopt said as Seijuro chuckled.

"I could not help but be interested and since the Gods have permitted it so."Seijuro said as Onyx, Lopt and various others were transported to a beautiful location. Standing on top of a lake, but the water did not soak into their boots or greaves. Seijuro had taken a seat beneath a cherry blossom tree. In his hand was a cup, and next to him was a bottle of sake. A falcon perched by his shoulder, a wolf had taken its place by his side.

Cynthia was present along with the other Hunters and Venerators. They were all confused.

"What is this!? Why are we here?"

"It's an opportunity of growth." Seijuro said as he poured the sake to his cup. Onyx was surprised to hear that, then looking at Seijuro with a gleam in his eyes. A good look for a swordsman, Seijuro took a sip of his sake.

"When you step in here. It means you were selected for your prowess. No matter how weak you may seem, the rules of the other world apply. You will only perish if your resolve is shattered beyond recognition. The water will not soak your armor nor will it cause any form of inconvenience. The water will flow to your footwork and your techniques. I do not require perfect swordsmanship. I merely need to see your resolve against your opponents. Now, I will be painting." Seijuro pulled out a paint brush from the sleeve of his kimono, as the wolf went over to retrieve a board while the falcon brought him the drawing paper.

The battle began as Seijuro began to paint their actions. Their every move, their techniques into it. Painting the sight of Lopt and Onyx Overlord facing each other with their blades being the gap. Cynthia faced a demon lord wielding a katana. Armored and human sized, a perfect foe to test her mettle.

Fast sword swings, a mix of combining mana and sword techniques. She had speed, but the demon lord before her had technique and reach. Prowess with the blade that not even she had achieved. Just exchanging the blows was clear. She was not as strong as she should be. Yet, Cynthia fell to her knees. The demon lord awaited for her to stand.

"Why do you wait?" Cynthia asked the demon lord who kept quiet.

"We are in a duel. Such things such as race, background and even where we stand are meaningless. It is a duel between practitioners of the same blade. It is best to treat it with courtesy." Cynthia realized her thoughts was naive. The belief that the demon lord was going to execute her.

"Thank you. I will show you the same courtesy!" Cynthia howled as she charged at the demon lord with a smile. Seijuro could not help but chuckle at the sight, seeing the ones battling before him. They were all beginning to smile, to enjoy the feeling of being warriors in a duel. Not bound by their backgrounds, not bound by anything such as race or ideals. Merely facing their opponents with what they have in hand.

A beautiful sight, one that Seijuro had painted into a beautiful piece. One that would invoke power and resolve within those that see it. If the Avatar of Seasons makes it through this fight. It will go down in history as one of the greatest bouts the world has ever seen. One that was pure for combat and not for anything such as blood shed.
