Chapter 1201: 1201
Chapter 1201: The Netherworld Pavilion
The young man had broken through!
His eyes were like stars, and his entire body was exuding a Ruler’s aura that was difficult to conceal.
The young man did not get up. He continued to circulate his cultivation until the violent energy in his body had completely subsided before he gradually stood up.
“How was it…” Elder Ma asked anxiously.
The others also had looks of desire in their eyes. Everyone knew that this junior of Elder Ma had broken through, but they also wanted to know what the process was like.
At this moment, the young man suppressed his excitement and said, “I feel very comfortable. After eating the pill, I began to feel a little uncomfortable. My body seemed to have turned into a pill furnace. Very quickly, I felt that my bottleneck was disappearing. In the end, I very naturally broke through to become a Ruler.”
In this way, it was not a coincidence. The few pills that Master Ou had given him really had the ability to allow a Venerable One to break through to become a Ruler.
Everyone was shocked. The truth was right in front of them. Even if they did not believe it, it was impossible. Ou Yangming had not exaggerated the effects of the pills. It was just that they were too inexperienced to believe it.
“The pills are too heaven-defying. When I broke through to become a Ruler back then, it took me hundreds of years, and I almost went mad several times…”
An elder thought of his sad journey.
“Who didn’t? Which one of us didn’t go through a lot of hardships and risked our lives to break through to become a Ruler!”
“If only I had such a pill back then.”
The elders were shocked again.
Only Li Daoyi knew about Ou Yangming’s deeds in the ruins while the others had only heard rumors. This time, the elders of the Seven Stars Pavilion truly felt the terror of Master Ou.
“Is there anything wrong with your body? “Elder Ma suppressed his excitement and asked calmly.
The young man retracted his gaze and observed his body for a while before continuing, “I’ve broken through, but I feel that there’s something strange in my body.”
After hearing what he said, the elders raised their heads.
“A side effect?”
It was completely normal for such a heaven-defying medicinal pill to have a side effect. Most people would never have the chance to break through to become a Ruler. Even reducing one’s lifespan was worth it.
What was the side effect?
Everyone looked at the young man. Elder Ma asked, “What’s the abnormality? Tell us about it. We’ll see if there is a solution.”
After all, the young man was his junior and a newly born Ruler. Elder Ma also had to pay attention to his physical condition.
The young man said nervously, “I feel that it shouldn’t be a bad thing. It’s just that there are some changes in my spiritual sea.”
As the young man spoke, he released a peculiar aura. After sensing this aura, the people became dead silent.

“What’s wrong?” The young man was shocked. ‘Could it be that I don’t have much time left?’ There was an ancient saying that one could die if one heard the path in the morning and died in the evening, but the young man did not want to die. He had just broken through to become a Ruler, and he still had a lot of time to squander.
The people around him were still silent.
Just as the young man’s fragile heart was about to collapse, Elder Ma said in an unbelievable tone, “Jiasheng, what you displayed just now was the power of laws…”
“The power of laws? What power of laws?”
After hearing what the elder said, the young man asked twice, and then his eyes immediately widened.
The power of laws!
Of course, the young man understood what the power of laws represented. Nonetheless, a person who was only a top-grade Venerable One with no hope of breaking through to a Ruler would not consider such a far-reaching problem.
“Second Uncle, are you lying to me?” The young man could not believe it.
Not to mention him, even all the elders present did not dare to believe it either. If there was a 1-in-10,000 chance of breaking through to become a Ruler because of luck, there was no way to explain this power of laws.
An elder said in a deep voice, “Didn’t Master Ou say that when he introduced the effects of this pill? This pill has a certain probability of allowing one to comprehend the power of laws. Looks like this junior of Old Ma has hit the jackpot.”
“That’s right, it must be so!”
The quiet atmosphere disappeared, and exclamations filled the room.
A person who did not even know the power of laws suddenly had the power of laws. How could this be a coincidence?
Did this not mean that the young man had reached the heavens in a single step? The young man had reached the elders’ level!
Elder Ma held back his excitement and said, “Jiasheng, your power of laws is very shallow. It can only be equivalent to a budding seed. You must take care of it carefully. I’ll give you a few books to introduce the laws to you in the next few days. Take a good look and stabilize your strength as a Ruler first. The power of laws can not be slacked off. You must completely grasp it.”
A resolute look flashed through the young man’s eyes as he shouted, “Yes, Second Uncle!”
“Go.”
Elder Ma waved his hand. The young man had just left, and the hall instantly became lively. Chaotic exclamations were heard. In front of the junior, everyone still maintained their bearing. Now that only a few of them were left, there was no need to maintain serious expressions.
“Old Ma, you really made a big profit this time. In a few years, your line will have another great elder.”
In a first-rate sect like the Seven Stars Pavilion, a powerhouse of the laws could assume the status of a great elder.

Having another great elder was a great thing for a branch.
Elder Ma looked at everyone with a smile and said humbly, “It’s just luck. This is all thanks to Master Ou.”
At the mention of this name, everyone was once again in a trance.
Starlight City was not big, but the streets were very lively.
Ou Yangming walked into a beautifully decorated shop. In front of the shop stood an ancient wooden sign with the words “The Netherworld Pavilion” on it.
He had also gotten the news from another place. The Netherworld Pavilion might be of some help to him in finding people.
The Netherworld Pavilion was very mysterious. As long as one had money, this place could satisfy everything.
Whether it was top-secret intelligence, the secrets of a sect, or all kinds of information, they could all be learned from this place. In the Great Wide World, they seemed to have an incredible information network that maintained all of this.
Their existence was similar to the top 10 chambers of commerce, just that the scope of their business was different.
There were only a few young men in working clothes in the shop. They sat by the counter and did not look away.
Ou Yangming walked over, and one of them spoke.
“Sir, what service do you need?”
“I want to find a reliable butler. Do you have any suitable candidates here?” Ou Yangming said in a deep voice.
“Of course,” the young man from the Netherworld Pavilion answered without thinking.
He raised his head to look at Ou Yangming and asked, “What level do you require for your butler, sir?”
“Level?”
Ou Yangming frowned slightly with a puzzled look on his face.
The young man explained, “The level isn’t the level of strength. Besides, the Netherworld Pavilion has divided the levels of the butlers, which are A, B, C, and D. The higher their level, the more powerful their abilities are.”
It was worth noting that the Netherworld Pavilion was like a middleman, recruiting talents with all kinds of abilities. If they wanted to make money, they would file records here for those who needed to choose. This way, it would be more convenient for both sides.
After the deal was concluded, the Netherworld Pavilion would take a part of the benefits and become the guarantor of the deal.
Ou Yangming did not care much about spirit coins. He said in a deep voice, “I want the best.”
The young man looked very forthright. Such a customer was undoubtedly a popular existence. He had a professional smile on his face, “The best we have are the A-class talents. We currently have 12 of them, and each of them has a different price. The lowest will be for 100,000 high-grade spirit coins while the highest is for 1.2 million high-grade spirit coins. The service period is 100 years.”
According to the ruler, it was clear that 1.2 million high-grade spirit coins could allow the most expensive butler to serve one for 100 years.
“Sir, you can take a look at the information first.”
The young man took out a pile of fine paper, on which everyone’s information was written.
Those who could become A-class butlers were existences above Venerable Ones, and their strengths were not bad. 100 years was not a long time for them. The information of each person was written on the fine paper, and Ou Yangming casually read through a few of them.
The strengths of these people varied from the early stage of Venerable Ones to top-grade Venerable Ones. They all had the experience of serving in large-scale families.
Among them, a butler who was worth 1.2 million spirit coins had managed over large-scale families with 100,000 people, and he organized everything well.
Using such a talent to manage Ou Yangming’s courtyard that only had a few dozen people was undoubtedly a waste of talent, but he did not care. After all, he did not lack this bit of money.
“Only these few people?” Ou Yangming quickly read through everyone’s information. He found that these people’s evaluations were of the lower A-class and middle A-class. None of them were of the upper A-class.
“Are you not satisfied with them, sir?” The young man frowned slightly. This customer seemed to be a little picky.
Ou Yangming smiled and responded, “I’m just curious why there aren’t any upper A-class candidates?”
The young man’s eyebrows relaxed, and he explained courteously, “Sir, the upper A-class is the top talent of the Netherworld Pavilion. Only those who have served as stewards in big sects have the qualifications to be in that class. Starlight City’s only a small place so such talent is very rare…”
“Doesn’t that mean that you don’t have any?” Ou Yangming smiled. He wanted to find the best. Of course, if there was not one, it would be fine to settle for the second best.
“It’s not that we don’t have any but…” The young man hesitated for a moment.
“But what?” Ou Yangming asked.
Only then did the young man say, “Starlight City originally had an upper A-class talent, and that person is as smart as a demon. Even our shopkeeper has praised him countless times. It’s just that he had some trouble recently, so we crossed out his name. The Netherland Pavilion thinks for our guests wholeheartedly, so we can’t bring trouble to our guests.”
Ou Yangming’s eyes had a strange light. “What’s his name? Where is he now?”
“Sir, that person is really troublesome!” The young man said again.
‘Troublesome?’
Ou Yangming grinned. At this moment, even the head of the Seven Stars Pavilion was in his home. In this small Starlight City, who else could make him feel troublesome?
What was troublesome? It did not exist…
Ou Yangming took out a few interspatial bags and slammed them on the table. “Tell me about him, and I’ll give you the spirit coins. I don’t need to trouble you to get him.”

I remember reading this story many years ago, as a teen, and had since dismissed it as a bizarre fever dream. Only recently, through much Googling, did I manage to rediscover it, and as such decided to not only read it again, but fix the author’s many typing issues and share the context of what I remember from its original happening. I believe the story underneath to hold deeper meanings than its strange happenings, but at minimum I hope you will appreciate it for the sheer weirdness of it all. For the best experience, skim it for your first reading and, if you are interested, read more deeply the second time. Some typing is left as-is to preserve what I believe to be authorial intent, or at least necessary effect. If you notice any typing issues I managed to miss, please email them to me at [email protected]
