Chapter 381: Subduing Pleater’s Battle Team
“Not bad, four A+ rank extraordinary ability users and nine A rank extraordinary ability users!”
“I like your team very much!”
Pleater was stunned. He did not know what the scarecrow meant by ‘like’.
It looked like he had saved his life, but he was still extremely nervous.
The scarecrow was a strange creature. Who knew what the strange creature was thinking? Perhaps one second, the other party liked it, and the next second, they would meet as enemies.
In the past, when Flanders subdued the enemy, for the sake of safety, he would only subdue the enemy after severely injuring them.
Flanders had the four kings of strange creatures by his side, as well as countless strange creature soldiers. He was absolutely safe.
He did not need to severely injure Pleater at all. As long as the Black Scarecrow entered Pleater’s body, Flanders would be victorious.
Rattle!
“Stand still!”
Pleater did not move in the first place, and the scarecrow insisted on not moving, which made him even more nervous!
Suddenly, he felt a black shadow flying towards him quickly. He instantly raised his magic shield.
A pale yellow magic shield appeared on Pleater’s body, but it was already too late!
The Black Scarecrow had already entered his body. He felt something enter his body, but it was already too late!
After the Black Scarecrow entered his body, it moved quickly. The surface of his skin bulged, leaving traces of the Black Scarecrow’s rapid movement.
“Captain! There’s something in your body!” Pleater’s battle team members saw the abnormal situation on his body and quickly reminded him.
Pleater also saw the bulge on his skin, and he made a decision in the blink of an eye.
His five fingers formed into claws and quickly grabbed at the bulge on his lower abdomen!
A large chunk of skin and flesh was torn off by himself. Immediately, blood flowed out from his abdomen!

Pleater looked at the flesh on his hand, but there was nothing in the flesh.
It was just a piece of skin with fresh blood. Then, he felt a burst of intense pain!
After that, the pain was gone! It was so painful that it was no longer painful! It was just that the blood could not stop flowing!
The Black Scarecrow had already entered Pleater’s heart, and Pleater’s eyes were dull.
His mind was completely focused on fighting with the Black Scarecrow for control of his body.
Rattle!
“Not bad, you can actually fight against the Black Scarecrow for so long!”
Flanders was not praising Pleater. With a wave of his hand, dozens of Black Scarecrows were summoned.
The Black Scarecrows pounced on Pleater, and his battle team members were taken care of by the Black Scarecrows.
With the new Black Scarecrow’s support, Pleater’s eyes regained consciousness after more than a minute.
The way he looked at Flanders was no longer guarded and suspicious.
“Respected Master, Pleater sends his regards to you!”
“Respected Master, I’m at your disposal at any time.”
When the ghost king and the others saw Pleater’s reaction, they were also shocked.
Not long ago, they were mortal enemies, but in the next moment, they had become the scarecrow’s subordinates. They felt that they could no longer see through the scarecrow.
At the same time, they felt that their chances of revenge had increased by a lot. It did not seem impossible to destroy the Salko Temple.
Pleater and his battle team had completely submitted to Flanders. Now, the Salko Temple had two elite teams that submitted to him.
Flanders firmly believed that in the future, more people would become his subordinates. At that time, even if he did nothing, he would still be a high and mighty king.
However, based on Flanders’s personality, how could he not do anything? Not only did he have to find something to do, he also wanted to let everyone know the name of the scarecrow.

“Master, I’m afraid that the Salko Temple will not let this go. Our team is only a vanguard.”
“My teacher, Birch, is a powerful summoning mage. He is the first among the summoning mages to advance to S rank.”
“He once showed me a miniature ghost altar. He said that the miniature altar is connected to the ghost altar in the ghost lair.”
“If anything happens in the ghost lair, his miniature altar will immediately send out an alarm! This mechanism has existed for thousands of years!”
“I’m afraid my teacher already knows about the destruction of the ghost altar.”
“Perhaps he’s on his way here. Please be careful, Master!”
Pleater’s words were a reminder for Flanders. After all, the Salko Temple was a magic power that had existed for more than three thousand years. They had many tricks up their sleeves.
The ghost king’s words rang in Flanders’s ears, “Master, I’m about to break through to S rank. It might be within a day or two!”
Flanders was pleasantly surprised. He did not expect to have an S rank subordinate. It had not been long since the ghost king advanced to A+ rank. It would take about half a year.
However, during this half a year, he did not waste any time. He had been absorbing the aura of death.
The aura of death was also transforming the ghost king’s body. Naturally, his advancement to S rank was a matter of course.
Especially in the underground space, the aura of death was even more abundant.
If it wasn’t for Pleater’s interruption, the ghost king would not have woken up at all. He would have continued to absorb the aura of death until he advanced to S rank.
Rattle!
“Good! Ghost king, you just absorb the aura of death, and try your best to increase your strength.”
“Even if the S rank mage from the Salko Temple comes, I’m not afraid of him!”
The ghost king looked at Flanders and did not say anything else. He entered the largest ghost altar.
Instantly, the violent aura of death enveloped the ghost king!
Seeing the ghost king wrapped in the aura of death, Pleater gritted his teeth. He was really cold!
Pleater’s battle team members were already shivering from the cold. However, they did not dare to move. They were afraid that the scarecrow would kill them.
Flanders saw everything. He planted the Scarecrow of Fear on a few A+ rank extraordinary ability users.
“You can go out now. Help me monitor the people of the Salko temple outside!”
When they heard that scarecrow asking them to leave, they felt as if they had been pardoned. After bidding farewell to Flanders, they left the underground space in a single file.
The shadow king, the zombie king, and the others started to absorb the aura of death again.
Flanders entered the sea of consciousness. He saw that there was an endless black island in the sea of consciousness.
He had more than 100,000 ghosts as his subordinates. Naturally, these ghosts were mapped to the sea of consciousness.
The result of their mapping was the black islands. Each island represented a ghost.
Flanders could only summon 999 Black Scarecrows a day and more than 100,000 subordinates. How long would it take for him to get them all possessed with a Black Scarecrow?
Thinking of this, he felt a headache coming. It seemed that he would have to stay in the ghost lair for a period of time.
Two days later, the largest ghost altar started to shake violently!
Even the aura of death had stopped transforming. A dark energy aura came directly from Flanders.

Exuperius [DISCONTINUED]
Terravest. The northernmost continent of the world known by many names of legend, but is most commonly reffered to as Athora, has, for eons, served as the land of exiles. Human criminals, dark elves, grayskinned orcs and dwarves that preffer mining with machinery over the traditional pickaxe alike, have come to call this half-frozen hellhole their home. It is a land of great strife, calamity and crisis, where one legendary tale ends only to begin the next, heroes fall down and villains find themselves thrown into lava. Around seventy years ago, a legendary figure appeared out of seemingly nowhere and conquered three human nations, forming a kingdom worthy enough of being called a small empire. However, at the eve of his heirs ascension, the legend breathed his last, leaving this same bloated, chaotic realm without the pillar that kept it together. Already, the carrion nobility, still spiteful for being denied their "rightful" place below the sun, rise up and gather at the court, each eager to consolidate their own power in these troubled times. Tempers flare, power is exercised without restraint and no one expects the hedonistic prince to succeed at keeping the realm together. Alas, as is often the case with such tales, not everything seems to be as it might at first appear and the vain lords of the realm may yet come to regret their carrion will. --- The Content Warnings are there for a good reason. ---

You can join my Discord here. Keynes Kid is gifted with a photographic memory and being several months away from receiving Level 1, and a Talent, he finds himself in the center of attention of people who want to shape his Talent. If they can get him an intelligence related Talent, they will hit a jackpot. The Talent Unlocking ceremony finally comes and Keynes Kid receives… Error… Anomaly (What?) His new talent is… useless. Why then does the World Government want Keynes so badly they will silence anyone who knows about his Talent? At the same time... Somewhere in the Universe, ancient beings stir from their slumber, awoken by the system alert and the wall of glaring red warnings. Their greatest fear just manifested and they are hell-bent on erasing it from existence. -------- It is a slow-development story, so you won't find the MC with super powers at the beginning. -------- It is a coming of age story and focuses on a Talent system (in the beginning) with several additions that bring to the table upgrading of a planet’s tier and such (a bit later). There will be quite an amount of rebuilding society as new, unknown resources enter the economy, and a lot of travelling, delving and naturally, unlocking the secrets of the Universe. As for the setting, the story starts in XXI century, which technology-wise isn't much different from what we have now, but it is enhanced by magic associated with Talents. This allowed the humankind to colonize the solar system, but the technology that allows for interstellar travel doesn't exist (yet). Because it’s my first attempt at LitRPG, please be forgiving but constructive. I hope you will enjoy the story! --- Cover by Daniel Gembus https://www.artstation.com/daniel_gembus instagram.com/danielgembus

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
