《The Forgotten Gods》Chapter 178

With that, I was waking up to a new day. As my eyes opened, I saw on my table a tin bucket filled with ice sticking out of the ice. I saw several long necks of bottles and in the middle was a large growler. Nestled between the bottles yet not touching the ice were four limes. Under the bucket was a note which I could not read. Like the other writing on this world, letters seemed to move, and I knew none of them. It was several lines long, but I didn’t know what it said. I looked at the card for a few moments before setting it back on the table. It was here, so it would be safe for now, and I could learn to read later.

I picked up the whole bucket to claim it so I could try to pull up a status screen. However, nothing pulled up. Which meant that none of this was magical and that needed to change. I knew that I could not drop a core into the lime because it wouldn’t take a socket very well but the rest could get cores, and the ice was chipped from a large block and looked like it was already melting. I needed to stop the melt and see if I could get the beer to refill. This was a great gift. If everything worked right, it would make the night much better. Didn’t seem like it compared to being attacked by orcs, but that might just be the level of power that he could help me with.

I quickly grabbed my etching rod and etched a linking rune from each of the bottles over to the bucket, and on the bucket, I put in the runes for ice and the thought to keep everything cold and preserved. I dropped a core into each of the beers and then into the growler. Lastly, I placed a core into the ice bucket. Much like my quiver, I got a cluster core.

This bucket was a gift to the man Arn who was wrongly and directly attacked by the god of war. This is a godly gift from the god of bards and summer beer. Seeing how great a gift this was Arn saw that it was good and right to preserve this gift for all time and so using another godly gift from a disposed god added item cores to each of the bottles, the growler and to the bucket itself. This action honored the god of bards and summer beer so greatly that he added to it and planted three lime trees in Arn’s yard.

Like all beer buckets this bucket has enough beer to share if one would choose. This is a truly godly gift as it has beers from many locations including an extra one from the home world of the one the bucket was given to. It is best to drink it with a slice of lime (small green citrus fruit, can be subbed out with a ‘gilnoren fruit rind.) squeezed into the bottle and then put in. Once the fruit is in the neck the bottle should be slowly flipped to spread. Beer is best in the summer but can be drunk anytime anywhere for any reason and a bucket of it makes the day better.

Because each bottle is an item core and the bucket itself is as well once a day the bucket will fill and seal all bottles. The beer types might change based on what is available for all but the extra four bottles. These four will always be the same. The bucket is full of ice that will not melt and will keep the beer at 45 degrees no matter the temperature around them.

The growler is a special gift from the brewery of the god of summer beer himself and will be filled with his own brew providing benefits befitting the god of bards and summer beer.

This Beer Bucket has a core. Like all items that have a core it can level. As this is an item core it can not reproduce itself.

To make new Beer Bucket cores the correct building must be constructed.

>Growth

To level your item core you must use it for its purpose and provide for it material to level to the next level.

Well, that growler was really a doozy, you get to heal fast, and you’re protected from diseases for eight hours, but for the next ten days, you’re a lightweight. That could make things for a party more fun but would make it, so I wasn’t drinking from that unless I was sick and needed to break out from the disease for a few hours. It might fully break a cold if it was complete protection, so it didn’t seem like it would just suppress the cold. Either way, it was powerful but had some significant drawbacks.

Since that was now taken care of, I headed up to the top of the waterfall to have a look around. It had been a long time since I had been here, and I wanted to check to see if there were any signs that the orcs had gotten through.

From the very top, I could see some smoke coming from the general direction of the orc camp, but I could not see anything closer. Blink and I took the time to look around. We couldn’t find anything amiss with our landing, which was nice. I checked, and the growth stakes were working as they should. The vines had been growing nicely and were blocking off their areas better.

We headed back in to deal with the Sisters. As we passed through the dungeon, Blink stopped at the safe room. Then she thought to me, “play hunts.”

“Play hunt? Not sure what you mean.”

“Dungeon hunts.”

“Oh you want me to go on while you kill things in the dungeon. Be careful, it leveled up while we were gone. Turns out this stop is high mana and so it doesn’t even need much to slowly start the leveling process.”

Blink sent happy feelings to me and then headed down the stairs. I went to the dungeon master access tunnel and headed down the passages to get back to my landing. From there, I went to the Shrine. I hadn’t been in the place since I was done with the Sisters’ requirements of me. They hadn’t even been quests, but I couldn’t refuse them.

I opened the door to the place I had built, and then I stopped on the right side where the Shrine to Order appeared just as I left it. The interlocking shapes were in neat rows, and everything was in its place.

On the left, where Chaos’s Shrine was, appeared so different. The black and white tiles that had been there were now replaced with hundreds of colors, and while they weren’t moving, they seemed to be. She had done something because she got bored, which meant the extra time I spent on her side to make it just like her sisters was a waste.

I sighed. I knew this was going to be a long day and that whatever it was that I had to do would end up being dumb.

“Order and Chaos I have come as you have asked.”

Nothing happened. I had hoped they would talk and that I was going to have to do the whole ritual prayer and everything that I was told I would need to. I hated making myself lower than others. It was one of the reasons that when I figured out how to punch Sam, I would. The whole process of needing to pray to the sisters was a pain.

I pulled out all the things that my skill showed me I needed to use. I set up the room the right way and used the cleansing skill, and then I gave myself over to the prayer ritual. Like last time when I did this, the hours moved past. I couldn’t remember what I said or did, which I hated. Yet this time, there was a difference.
