《Odyssey Of Zero: Journey Ablaze》Episode 58: The End Of The Beginning-pt2

A couple hours passing right after, Drima came out of the operation room, followed by a calm and sensible Tiki. Everyone's excitement and happiness clearly brushed her by.
"Welcome back!", Terna happily said.
"Glad to have you back with as at maximum operational availability.", Luna extended her hand at Tiki.
"Hah. You bet your ass I wouldn't give in.", Tiki grabbed and tightly shook Luna's hand with her own recently operated one, "We've still got a score to settle."
"Glad you're fine and dandy, miss Tiki!", Lina hugged Tiki.
"Hey, relax there kiddo. I wasn't leaving your sister that fast. And...where's Anya? She was pretty bad when I saw her last time..."
"Back at Reingard by now.", Magi sadly exhaled.
"Wait, why?"
"Her feral configuration brought forth by the enchantment of her Obsulyte powers prevented certain procedures from happening. She needed specialized help.", Luna informed her.
"Damn...she'll be fine though. That is one of the few things I'm sure of. I didn't pass her for such a bold moron, but if her guts can take that much heat, then she'll pull through no problem."
Just then, Dante approached from behind the rest of the team, folding his arms and looking at Tiki straight in the eyes.
"Should've backed out...but you'll be fine, right?", he boldly told her.
"Hmm. Don't worry meatbag. If I manage to stay alive after being thrown into a jet engine, I can live by this."
"Only the jet engine wouldn't be able to break through your skin...", Yuno quietly said.
"The useless midget talked, or what?", Tiki angrily looked at Yuno.
"Everyone zip it, right now. I just did a simple procedure capitalizing on powerful local anesthetics and leaving her Obsulyte overflow to do the rest. Now what the hell did you break again, because I swear to god, you're paying for it."
"Whatever that room was over there.", Enemy pointed at the room she was with Dante.
"Minus one interrogation room. Great. What the hell were you even doing in there?"
"I just wanted some alone time and someone decided to intervene. Also, do I even need to ask as to why an official 'biometrics expert' needs an interrogation room and how it was built with nobody noticing?"
"Has it not appeared clearly enough that he is the epitome of everything we call illegal? I'm just glad he's siding with us.", Magi looked at Drima.
"Some of those 'illegal' terms were made so that strong and influential morons can stay strong and influential morons without being questioned.", Drima angrily said.
"I also tried to log into my account on Semori! to read a book I left half finished on a site, but I can't get it to work.", Dante gave Drima his tablet.
Drima jolted, "What appeared to be the problem?", he reluctantly asked.
"So many damn pop ups and adds it's impossible to do anything. Just how many viruses are on that thing?"
"One look at his browsing history should reveal pretty much everything.", Magi quietly chuckled.
Drima blushed, "Magi! Shut it the hell up!", he increased the strength of his grip on the tablet.
Just then, through the fingerprint recognition system, the tablet pulled through the pop up windows and activated itself, instantly playing a saved video.
"What the-", Drima looked down at the tablet.
A loud moan was heard throughout the room, before Drima reacted by throwing the tablet out of a nearby window. To his embarrassment, everyone fixated their eyes on him, except from Magi, who painfully and desperately tried to hold her laughter in. He paused as he crudely turned his head around with a stare that betrayed the need for deaths luxury and looked around at everyone in the room.

"Oh...shit...", Drima whispered.
"Wait, why was there a video of a lady in pain on that tablet big sis?", Lina asked Luna.
Enemy facepalmed, "Not the god damn kid."
Luna stuttered, "U-Umm. She was fighting...a wrestling match."
"I...I'll go wash my hands real quick.", Dante regretted his life decisions that brought him up into this point. Yes. This is what it took for him to start regretting them. I mean wouldn't you?
"Umm...so...mister Drima.", Terna cleaned her throat, "About that informational gathering."
"Never mind that. What about the whole lecture about basically 'stop breaking shit'?", Yuno awkwardly asked.
"Give me a few minutes to lay off from the surgery and bang my scientific head to the wall.", Drima dragged his body out of the room.
Tiki, stunned harder than anyone else uttered but a few words while looking at her recently healed arm, giving away an ominous mist of embarrassment, immense, immaculate and deadly anger with a pinch of grossness.
"H-He...he like...he didn't touch that tablet...before doing the surgery. R-Right?"
"I am positive that there is a washing station in the surgery room.", Luna reassured her.
Tiki entered a praying stance, "Thank you. Thank you so much."
After a brief moment of relaxation and Dante's thorough hand sterilization, everyone calmed down enough to proceed to the meeting area. Magi, still chuckling and laughing sat briefly outside the meeting room. Once she finally calmed down, they all sat and waited for Drima to show up. The mood changing rapidly, they now took things way more serious than they ever did before. Before them laid a holographic map of the entire world around a wide table filled with chairs left and right. A standard among meeting rooms, they started taking their seats. Dante firmly placing himself at the first seat on the table's head, with Enemy right by him to keep him in check, the others shortly followed around them. Finally, Drima showed up in a new outfit, having gotten rid of the previous surgical wear.
"So...you finally came-", Magi tried to make a joke.
"Shut up!", Drima blushed.
"Look, we get it. Can we please move on? I don't feel like wasting my time here.", Dante demanded.
Drima cleaned his throat, "Right. Everyone...this will be a turning point to everything you've been doing up to this point. Through meticulous studying and an abundance of new information, I will be flipping the entire table tonight for you all. Here's the deal.", he launched something from his tablet.
The hologram Drima launched from his tablet exploded as it got into the center of the meeting table, now imitating scenes and scenarios familiar to everyone, engulfing them all in the hologram.
"Woah...", Terna looked around."
"So...let's begin.", Drima stepped forward, "I have analyzed your abilities through this one singular battle, and those who didn't do much of a fight, I still managed to gather info from their Obsulyte signatures and previous shared details. My goal here is to make you have a clear cut understanding of each other's abilities, the way you can mix them together and worker better as a team."
Enemy scoffed, "You deadass think this will last?"
Drima took an angry glare at her, "For as long as it does, I want to be sure. Now, before I begin with anything, I'll tell you some basics you'll never see being taught at school. You are all, clearly Obsulyte users. But not just any Obsulyte users. You're what I like to call the 'Golden Generation' of Obsulyte users. Now what that means: Long ago, when I used to travel alongside other Sentinels, Makaro and Kikaro being in their sovereign state, there were a lot, and I mean a lot of Obsulyte users. Statistically would say around 90% plus of the population had it. The results were that their powers were abundantly weaker than today. They couldn't level cities and skyscrapers like you, merely using it in their daily lives as a small convenience. Fast forward to today, and surprisingly only 1% if not less of the population is considered to be Obsulyte users. And of course, as humans always do, those who are such users are outcasts for either being 'cancerous infections' or extremely dangerous individuals. Both statements are true at core but strain further from the truth the more you expand on them. Yes, current day Obsulyte users have such a power excess that it may just be dangerous to themselves as it is for the receiving end those powers are used on. See how Dante and Enemy have such an over excess of energy it will diminish their mental or physical strength. In Dante's case, it's both. The more he used it, the more he failed to realize allied from enemy's and the more primitive his fighting, response and situational awareness got. And if I am to be completely honest, Enemy, I think you were the same. However, through time's training, you managed to suppress that...but I'm going to ask you something and I want an honest answer. Through your readings I could see that the Obsulyte you used was indeed as harmful as Dante's, but I couldn't find any way that you'd pull through with the amount of it you used, because you do not possess a healing effect. How so?"

Enemy stuttered for a moment, "Fine. It's because Hikari and I share the harm that happens to us. Unlike me, she does possess a healing effect, above the normal standard for Obsulyte users, so she's able to take the hit much better than me. Likewise, I take the damage she receives when she's in charge, so that we have more effective fighting capabilities. Her powers are indeed worthless offensively, but I cover that for her, including combat knowledge and everything."
"So back in Corosta, the way I saw the shorty move around...", Tiki wondered.
"Yes, I was the one giving her the fighting stances. Other than that, when damage gets out of hand, we both share it...but Hikari eventually gets all of it. Because of my normal body, we usually transfer most of the damage on her so that she can heal it, so it eventually all routes back to her...", she answered Tiki.
"Hmm...I see. Dante is essentially a mix of you and Hikari, without the ability to transfer damage. Not even on Mellistar."
"Mellistar?", Luna asked.
"It's sort of...complicated. It's some guy that heavily resembles Dante, but not really? I dunno. What I do know is that he taught him a few things like I did about his powers and the fact he can intercept Dante when he goes berserk and loses control, like today.", Yuno answered her.
"That will be because Mellistar shares not only similar Obsulyte capabilities as Dante, but also the fact that Dante is essentially...well, his other half.", Drima fixed his glasses.
"What?", Dante weirdly looked at Drima.
"Ok...this is more complicated than what I thought it to be. During the last time I saw Maro and Kiro fighting, I was alongside Mellistar and Cecilia in a place called the "Imaginary Space". It's a form of our reality, completely defying all laws of physics and all logic. It contorts itself and shifts matter at its own will. Hikari was laying on some sort of garden with white roses that she laid on. If I were to stretch my guess, because Cecilia was heavily hit by Mellistar during our fight with Maro and Kiro there, she must have somehow, someway, inherited Mellistars abilities and part of his DNA? I'm really stretching it, I know, but that same logic would also answer Enemy's origin, in the sense that she was instead cultivated and born inside Hikari because of her extended stay within the Imaginary Space. Perhaps?", Drima theorized.
"Shit...he's fast to figure things out...damn.", Enemy whispered.
"So...Mellistar is, in a nutshell, my ancestor?", Dante asked.
"Probably? But not definitely. I need more details on that specifically before making a verdict."
"I would beg to differ...it's complicated, because I don't even have a straight answer for it.", Mellistar echoed inside Dante's head.
"Well we're stuck.", Dante folded his arms.
"In any case, origin story's are not what we're here for, despite us needing to get into it at some point. A hot case right now is figuring everyone's powers, then we can follow with that. So going back to our previous subject, Dante and Enemy are mutual in terms of powers, with key differences. And here's the deal kicker. Luna is the same."
"Wait, what?! Big sis can be as cool as mister Dante?!", Lina jolted.
"Easy Lina. What may the reason behind that be?", Luna asked.
"Yeah? I would swear her aura when she went up against me is definitely that of a demons.", Tiki confirmed.
"Indeed. The basis of her abilities are because she seems to be because of a certain Obsulyte presence within her. But whenever she uses her abilities, I get the exact same signature as Dante and Enemy, which leads me to believe that she has some sort of imitation on them. But then again...she doesn't have any healing abilities to back that theory up."
"Wait. What do you mean healing abilities? Like me and Hikari?", Dante asked.
"Every single Obsulyte user has two properties, innate advantage over non-Obsulyte users. Very highly increased physical strength due to energy overflow reinforcing bone structure and immune system and elevated healing abilities. The healing abilities were not there at first, but must have been inherited through generations of new users throughout the years, since the world itself has it."
"Wait...our world has healing abilities?", Terna asked with a weirded out look.
"Yes. Every world does, time heals everything after all. But Zero is special. Take a look at todays battlefield."
Drima pulled up footage of the giant crater caused by Enemy next to Dirunon at that days fight, showing them small green sprouts coming out of the ground.
"This, normally, wouldn't be a thing. But since the world itself started becoming more accustomed to the energy itself, it too gained the ability to heal its wounds. With enough time, even this crater should be naturally brought back to its original level. That's why I'm not opposed to excess use of force in non inhabited areas, because I don't fear about permanent damage to the nature and the landscape of things."
"Wait...Zero?", Tiki asked.
"Yes, the worlds name isn't 'Riza'. Merely mistaken by some wacko historians and scientists who thought that Hikari, a.k.a 'Ika-risa' created the world. But those originally wandering it, like me, knew that the world pre-existed before Hikari stepped foot in it. After numerous science stuff with Drima, we chose to call it 'Zero', as in 'Ground Zero'.", Magi answered her.
"That doesn't make any sense. Why name it like that?", Yuno wondered.
"Because I've done a number of studies. Zero isn't just a world. It's a starting point. It's a bridge between every single multiverse, alternate reality etcetera. Because of our connection with the Imaginary Space, I also believe that unlike other worlds, Zero is entirely unique, in the since that no other Zero can ever exist in any multiverse or alternate reality. Timelines though are a different property.", Drima answered.
"So...there's a high probability that what we're facing might not even be a threat from our world.", Dante added.
"Not just that, there's also a possibility that some of you might not even be originally from Zero. Though born and raised here...you might actually be taken from other worlds through the connection from the Imaginary Space."
Everyone paused for a brief moment as they looked at each other.
"God dammit, son of a bitch turned it into an Isekai, didn't he?", Enemy angrily said.
"I literally prayed for the exact opposite like 50 episodes ago. Shit just couldn't work.", Dante shared her frustration.
"I mean, looking at this, male to female ratio is a 4/7, so at least there's some dignity in it. No fan service yet and no one is wearing promiscuous clothing...yet.", Enemy tried to relax.
"Up until you realize that I saw Hikari naked in the hotel back in Reingard.", Dante paused as he realize what he shouldn't have said.
Enemy got up instantly, "You fucking, what?!"
"First of all I don't care and second of all, I didn't ask for it. She was just deprived of common sense thanks to your brainwashing of memories. I covered my eyes even, as I literally can't bother with that."
In the brief moments that followed, Dante was promptly picked up by Enemy and thrown out the same window that Drima's tablet took flight moments prior, crashing back into the royal garden.
"Ok...holy shit?", Tiki awkwardly looked at everyone, "What the hell?"
"He can take the elevator back.", Magi shrugged.
Drima facepalmed, "Just kill me. Why did I ever think this was a good idea? Why does the fate of the world rest upon them?", he told Magi.
"Hey, we didn't start out much better now, right?", she reassured him.
A brief moment of argument between Drima and the rest of the group passed before Dante jumped back into the meeting room by using the hole that enemy had reopened, calmly taking back his seat as Enemy did the same.
"I am really gonna kill you."
"Be my guest.", he answered her.
"Guys can we please just give this up and focus?", Yuno suggested.
"Unnecessary procrastination only helps to waste valuable time.", Luna supported Yuno.
"Alright, fine by me. Everyone pipe down and Drima say what you have to."
"God! Stop and listen. Now, like I was saying before, Luna has a mix signature of both a demons aura and Dante's or Enemy's. That makes me strongly believe the fact that, coupled with her lack of elevated healing abilities, Luna is an illegitimate Obsulyte user, or simply not one at all."
"I have to let you know of a specific detail that you may have missed, that being that my sister and I have been partially modified. Our modifications come with high grade cloaking capabilities against infrared vision and X-ray to better conceal identities."
"That would explain Lina's massive physical strength...", Drima pondered.
"Not really. Like elevated healing, don't we all have massive strength?", Tiki added.
"Normally, if we're talking about Obsulyte users, then their strength will start to show at around the time they're teenagers, while the healing is there since the start. Judging off Lina's appearance alone, she's definitely not a teenager, so that's either premature abilities or she's an illegitimate user like Luna.", Drima said.
"You remember the classifications, right? Despite the obvious schism that drove it, Wolven, Calico and Demons are entirely different. So maybe it has to do with the fact that she may be different.", Tiki suggested.
"You do have a point.", Yuno said.
"But what's all the deal with Demons, Wolven and everything? I never quite got that.", Terna wondered.
"It's a huge nerd thing if you ask me. The initial names came out to classify the crossbreeds of kemonomimis. But aside from the way that their tails and ears are different, Demons are quite unique, because they're in a constant state of Obsulyte overcharge. Honestly, they are more dangerous than normal users in the sense that they will need some place to discharge that energy. The fall of Corosta happened primarily because of their Destruction Zone being destroyed, ironically enough.", Magi said.
"What is a Destruction Zone?", Luna asked.
"It's a place where, like us, we overcharged it with Obsulyte to boost its healing factor. It was a place that we went to blow steam off, but something happened that didn't allow it to be overcharged anymore, meaning that with no one to let that Obsulyte off...things were tense.", Tiki answered her.
"Hmm...indeed. But Luna doesn't seem to be suffering from the need to constantly disperse that energy. However, she lacks key characteristics to classify her as anything.", Drima added, "In any case, Luna's abilities are actually similar to Dante's and Enemy's, but instead of having a healing factor to counteract the damage it does, or sharing the damage to prolong a burst state, she has neither. We've never seen her being in a burst state like Dante and Enemy, however, so I can't judge until then. I would like to think that she has the same immunity against toxic materials like the other two, however."
"I think she does. Back when we were making the thing to knock Dante out she wasn't really wearing any gloves.", Terna said.
"Hmm, really? Do you still have the bottle you used for that?", Drima asked Terna.
"No, Tiki actually stopped me before I could and scolded Luna for not wearing gloves. She pushed Luna to the showers and took notes of whatever we used."
"Wait, wait. Tiki interrupted you from making a poison for me? My hero. And how did she know?", Dante sarcastically said.
Tiki jolted as she stuttered, "N-Nothing! Even a moron should know not to use dangerous chemicals without gloves! T-That's all!"
"I apologize for my actions, however, I too have an innate immunity to chemical effects as a previous note from a contact with one.", Luna said.
"Like hell I knew!", Tiki angrily said.
"Focus. Anyone remember what that thing you used was?", Drima asked again.
"I lost the note...no way I remember.", Tiki folded her arms.
"I posses good enough memory from practical uses like this. There was no name label to the container, but I fully remember the formula written on it.", Luna said.
"Which is?"
"Carbon: 6760, Hydrogen: 10447, Nitrogen: 1743 Oxygen: 2010 and Sulfur: 32.", Luna flawlessly said.
"What the actual fu-", Drima coughed before he could finish his sentence, "Are you idiots?!"
"What even is that?", Yuno asked.
"It's god damn Botulinum Toxin! You guys have any idea how absolutely dangerous that is?!", Drima angrily said.
"Extremely, extremely dangerous. Holy shit you guys, did you play bartender with that shit?", Tiki looked at everyone else.
"I made use of all the chemicals I could find in full availability on the station.", Luna shrugged.
"The lethal dose of that shit is like 3 nanogram, how much did you use?", Tiki asked again.
"Perfect dose of 10 milliliters.", Luna answered again.
"With all the added shit besides that, he should be chasing stars right now.", Tiki facepalmed as she looked at Dante.
"So let me get this straight. I had a single glass of water that you guys may, or just really did, boycott with a concoction of deadly chemicals. While also being premeditated?", Dante looked at everyone.
"We really didn't know what to add! Truly! And since we were informed of your resistances by then we...well...did that.", Terna said.
"I'm surprised becauseI thought Luna would be more tactical than this, but to leave me outside of it...what the hell.", Tiki sighed.
"You say that but you had to wack me in the head with force enough to level cities after you used all those poisons to knock me out. What I'm more surprised of is the fact that while the poisons didn't poison me, your cooking gave me food poisoning.", Dante said with a straight face.
"That's honestly commendable.", Yuno said.
"Honestly don't even know how Hikari went about her day after consuming that.", Enemy agreed with him.
"Screw you guys.", Tiki folded her arms.
Drima took a deep breath, "Since we are all still alive...let's move on. So for Luna, your abilities are the same as Dante's and Enemy's but she cannot hold on for as long. Now Tiki. You're...typical."
"What the hell is that supposed to mean."
"Nothing out of the ordinary. Signature is as it should and energy levels are perfectly normal for your classification. However...who the hell gave you the thing you're wearing?"
"What, this? It was Anya, she contacted a merchant named Nikki from Corosta and gave it to me. She said something about wanting me to try it out for her to collect data on it. So far so good."
"This isn't just any regular battlesuit. It's a MOD. Short for Mass Obsulyte Distributor. And it's both illegal and extremely dangerous, not that I mind. Moreover, you're looking at the creator of it. It is an all size fit wear that's made...well, for military use. I used to have an undercover job at LAB and this was the one thing that I reported before getting terminated. It was deemed illegal and confiscated, though I guess Golvers' money wouldn't keep it locked forever. I'm sure you're aware of special weapons made for Obsulyte users, how they're conductive and extremely lethal if handled by an actual user. This is the armor version of it. It was specifically made to regulate and amplify Obsulyte running through your body and externalize it for maximum destruction."
"So this is why I feel so nice when using this thing? I don't get even close to having that feeling of causing some wrecks at the Destruction Zone."
"Problem is...this is going to be detrimental to your body if I don't finish it up. The design is largely unfinished and because of it, I'm starting to really get why a Demons bones, who were supposed to be almost impossible to break, are so breakable now. Granted, you did go against two beings that one can probably snap a planet out of existence and another that tries to imitate it. Yes, I know about your fight with Luna too. Right now, your bones must be strained because of the excess energy they have to process because of the MOD. It might not look like it, but there's a lot of micro details underneath the cloth to regulate everything going on. Now, I think I might be able to round up the design, but if that doesn't work...I'll start from scratch. For all of you if possible. I would normally be completely against elevating violence in a situation when enough is enough but...that's not plausible anymore."
"This sounds way more serious than I initially thought it to be...guess it's not exactly fun and games now, is it?", Dante said.
Drima nodded, "Allow me to round up with Anya and Terna and I will tell you exactly what this is all about. Yuno, I suppose you won't be offended if I gloss over you, right? In a nutshell, Dante but smaller. Your body might not be able to circulate as much energy as his, but your powers are one and the same."
"No offense taken. That was the one thing we could be certain of.", he calmly said.
"You're a Link so, it's only a matter of time before you can unlock the full potential of your abilities."
"Wait...a Link? You mean a 'Guardian'?", Yuno corrected him.
"You studied the old books, huh? Welcome to the age of holograms, we call those 'Links'. Essentially, they are helpers of the original that they're protecting. By 'original' I mean the fact that Links are created by an Obsulyte signature that the actual person originally possessing the powers has. That's why your base signature will always be the same as the original, but your powers can either be the same or vary. I studied for Links over the time, but only ever seen 2, those being Hyrusas as well."
"Hmm...got it. I'll use that info as best I can. Somehow, like Dante...I still feel like something is missing."
"Hope you do. Only thing you share is death aside from powers, with everything in between varying very heavily. Now...Terna. Aren't you an interesting one. Essentially, I know absolutely nothing, aside from your innate boosting abilities. Which is...it's interesting to say the least. You're definitely nothing more than human and your Obsulyte is there but...that's just it. Your abilities so far seem to be dormant and not dangerous, but then again, I was receiving some weird frequencies off the recording."
"She is capable of controlling the elements, I think? As far as I've seen, her boosting effects aren't the only thing.", Dante added.
Terna nodded, "Hmm. All of them...though, I really don't use anything else than earth during battles, because that's the most viable one."
"Interesting. Though, that still doesn't say much to begin with. I'll keep tabs on you, perhaps we will learn something to help you understand it better in the near future.", Drima reassured her.
"Thank you mister Drima...really! Maybe that way, I can also figure out what to do...", Terna quietly said.
Tiki noticed Terna's behavior, "Yo, you doing alright?"
"Hmm? Yeah."
"You sound quite low."
"Just a little bit...tired, I guess."
Tiki sighed, "Alright, sorry. Moving on."
"Right. Finally, Anya. I got my hands on a view analytics before sending her into hospital. It's no mystery that her body gave in to a transformation that pushed her animal side over her human side to the exterior."
"Basically a furry. Or furry bait, either or both.", Tiki said.
"Laugh while you can. This is because she overused her Obsulyte to some external source that wound up to her. It's an unfortunate side effect of such a trade. Question is where she got that."
Dante sighed, "She won a game of cards and wanted to go into a dungeon run with me. Long story short, she was injured and used that book Terna is holding to heal herself way faster, because she was on the verge of death."
"And there you have it. Same signature Obsulyte redirected after being externalize will cause an internal overload. Not lethal, in fact most of the time it's beneficial as it can reinforce the body with a permanent, fully functioning second layer of your Obsulyte but if you're a half human breed...well, this can happen. And that's not the only cause of it. It can typically also happen if it's forced by other means, but I don't exactly know how, but Anya's is a pretty uncommon one. A small group of people have had that side effect nowadays anyway. However...I don't know about the third layer."
Dante leaned forward, "What third layer?"
Magi took a worried, wide look at Drima, almost as if signaling him to back down.
Drima exhaled deeply, "I was wondering if I should tell you this or not. I told Magi before you and thought of keeping the rest to myself to not decrease your morale further than it already is...but I won't do it in the end. I'm done with gaslighting more than I already had to. Her Obsulyte intake source was still left open after that day. Despite the Obsulyte based monsters she may have fought in the meantime, she didn't receive as much damage with it until today. Her intake of your powers have infested her. Her body is fighting her wounds and simultaneously trying to fight a foreign Obsulyte signature...it...it can be fatal. Foreign Obsulyte signatures inside your body is like getting a blood transfusion with a different bloody type."
Dante banged his arm against his side of the table, snapping it to bits in an instant before calmly leaning back to his seat, head lowered as if he was afraid to be looked by anyone else. The room went silent as everyone tried to look away, Drima not daring to react to another breaking of his equipment. He carried on, trying to ignore the situation.
"That being said...she will be somewhat like you after this. I don't know what the effects might be, but I won't be entirely sure they're only beneficial until I can see so for myself. Moving along...that's about it for everyone's powers. Now I'll get down into some deeper details. This is the world map.", Drima opened the world map in the hologram, "Red spots reflect Obsulyte energy concentration and the lighter it gets, the less it has. Nowadays, we harness mass energy reserves to keep things floating, which is a huge issue considering that besides Obsulyte users, Obsulyte concentrated crystals will never replenish once fully depleted. Think of it as a young cell. So long as one exists, it'll reproduce, but once none does, it's over. Now what this means is simple. Because of the fact that the World War took way more energy reserves than it should, and the mass technological advances we are officially about to enter an energy crisis. No one knows about it, because everyone wants it censored to see what to do with it. And you know how humans always work. Lack something that's needed? Make war."
"So on top of everything we have to deal with, now we must worry about a rerun of a true hell?", Enemy folded her arms.
"Precisely. That's why I gathered you all here. Because we're facing two fronts now...or three, depending on how you look at it. The world that's on fire, Shadowers and Enmities and Maro and Kiro who also need to be dealt with in the meantime. And here's what I'm forwarding to you. Break your promise with the Reingard king now."
"Wait, why?", Terna asked, "Weren't we supposed to unify the world to face the monsters?"
"Naive as always. Unify the world under what exactly? We're going to war either way from the looks of it.", Drima said.
Dante snapped out of it, "We were naive. Because it's the same shit all over again. Some old sons of bitches point their fingers at each other from their golden thrones and a million soldiers mindlessly die. Judging from Reingards history, Hataros would most likely want to 'unify' the world under his own charge. Same with how Dirunon was..."
"Wait, how do you...remember?", Magi asked.
"Before that day came along we had a major public vote for starting a war with Reingard. Frederick was a king with a title, but a peasant like the rest of us. He wouldn't dare to make such a drastic move without the support of the people, hence why he censored nothing at all about the situation. I don't remember the details but...I knew that war was inevitable, besides the surprise attack. We were offered an ultimatum of sorts, which was ultimately rejected. Then all of that happened. We had the best soldiers in the world, but failed to show for it...we rarely had conflict anyway. Mere skirmishes we had to take care of. And judging off the fact that Reingard is both the world capital and the only place in the world to be controlled by a monarchy...it's all too iffy."
"Wait, what about Victoria and Reingard?", Yuno asked.
"The 'king' we have is an honorary title from another era. He has almost zero power and everything is handled by the Council.", Drima answered.
"So what's the catch? Do we start by destroying monsters' activity?", Dante asked.
"Exactly. For now, however, I'd focus more on the immanent threat of the two brothers and the monsters, having already gone rampant. Starting with Victoria. The nearby farming towns of Gastella, Estella and Mestella all have given out a red warning from the Farmers Association for monsters activity. Local militia is holding Enmities and Shadowers away, without a single breakthrough from the military on the other side to be able to send reinforcements. These three towns are collectively responsible for a massive chunk of the worlds food production and its supply, and for more than 2 months, they've been under siege. If I had to guess, the monsters are innately attracted to the Obsulyte used to manufacture the massive needed for mass production. And here's the catch. If you want to take part in such an operation, you must give up the task set to you by Hataros, because you need to be unaffiliated in both country and organization to be there. After all, when you're legally classified as an ambassador, it'd be weird to take on combat with another army."
"I'm down for it. I refuse to be anyones dog but me. Until we figure out things in a deeper matter, feel like this will be best for everyone. Anyone opposed?", Dant waited for a response, "So this just got way bigger than I initially thought it would. If we are to be dragged into a bigger rabbit hole, we need a proper plan."
"A bunch of kids saving the world...that'll be fun. Though I guess they are the strongest generation to ever exist...", Drima whispered, "The plan is as follows. Secure the three farming towns and breakthrough with the military. For now that is. I need to do a couple things, including tweaking Tiki's MOD, checking up with Anya who should be in emergency surgery by now and above all, finish up a MOD prototype for you specifically. If you're going to be fighting with everyone and are going to use your powers then I need to get this done now. While we have a general consensus of everyone's abilities, yours still remain largely unrecorded. Same with Enemy, but she has the grasp of them and Terna hasn't shown that destructive outbursts yet. You will take tomorrow off and be deployed in two days, because according to military intel, we're gathering massive energy concentration in the general battlefield. That could point to something bad coming. Taking tomorrow off will at least allow me to round up all my work and additionally allow some of you to familiarize with the new equipment I'll roll in. Long term, we need to make sure to reinforce the bond between the regions to further dilute chances of a possible war while also find a backup source to prevent obstruction of daily life. That's why from now on, I'm changing everyone's profiles on every single platform to an unaffiliated organization. It's the only way to keep a neutral ground to avoid unnecessary conflict and criticism from some special category of idiots while working under the radar. This is no joke and you're doing a complete one eighty from everything you've been doing and everything you've come to known. You'll no longer be a bunch of mindless teenagers, I hope, but instead have a very important task that requires way more tactical precision than whatever you've been doing up until this point. Anyone opposed to that say it right now."
Everyone looked at each other with a look of both determination and fear for the coming unknown, finally turning back to Drima.
"I'm game. This sounds like hella fun to me.", Tiki agreed.
"I will also raise the bar and do the same. We have now got to do whatever it takes if we are to rely on a future.", Luna agreed.
"Yes! Big sis is in, so that means I can be in too, right?!", Lina excitedly asked.
Drima covered his smile with his tablet, "I suppose I can give you the position of 'Morale Manager' if you wish."
Lina looked at Drima with eyes full of excitement, her smile widening more and more at the possibility of having an adventure. Luna nodded at Drima, before looking back down at Lina.
"I suppose that the position proposed is to be taken by you.", Luna agreed.
Lina jumped around, "Yes, yes, yes! I can do it! I'll help everyone!"
"No way I can back out either. Not like she would let me do so anyone...count us both in.", Enemy agreed.
"Someone needs to take care of business. Sure that the mutt will agree to it anyway, so I can't stay in the sidelines.", Dante agreed.
"That automatically puts me in as well.", Yuno agreed.
"Well, looks like y'all got it pretty clear cut. Nice to see.", Magi happily said.
Terna hesitated, "I-I um...could I please take a walk? It's a bit...I need to think about it. But I won't delay my answer, promise."
"Sure. It's not like everyone can just agree in a whim about something like this anyway.", Drima accepted her promise, "Now, that'll all be it for now. You can all head out and into the living quarters. The lab used to be for more than one person but...no one ever really stuck around."
"Illegal practices.", Magi coughed.
Drima exhaled, "Yes. That. Don't worry, however, because I will try to make the operation as legal as possible by handling all of the details and everything paperwork wise. From now on, this place will be treated as the base of operation and new devices, specifically made with layers of encryption and an even more advanced private chatting network than the one Anya managed to scramble. I suggest you get a chance to also mentally prepare yourself for what's to come. We have a long way to go."
Everyone nodded as they headed out of the meeting room, heading for the living quarters as Terna instead too the route to get outside. Drima finished up tidying his paperwork as Magi stood besides him.
"And done. That should be all for tonight...exhausting day.", he sighed.
"You don't say. What I really want to know is how all this will play out. I'm still worried for the kids, especially Dante."
Drima looked at Magi, "I told you back then what you clearly shouldn't have done. You never listen to me."
Magi chuckled, "I never do, do I?"
"You know, someone that didn't know you as well as I do would be offended that you laughed at this, but...you need to listen to what I said back then now."
"Do I? I mean...I do feel pretty cool around him. Been with him since he was little anyway."
Drima looked at Magi with a deep, concerned look, "You...won't be doing this for you. This time..."
She paused as she looked back at Drima with eyes that betrayed the deepest feeling of sadness a person could experience. She quietly headed out of the room as well, leaving Drima behind to finish up the room.
"Alright, order the final parts for today and clean this up as well. I want this over by the morning.", he commanded the maid bots before looking at his beeping transmitter, answering the call.
“Drima, are you done wrecking stuff for the night? I was just scolded by the accounting department for all the bills!”, Rein angrily said.
Drima stuttered, “U-Uh. Yes. Sorry.”
“And have you resolved everything with the little monster as well with the crew behind her?”
“Ehm. Mind you, she’s a lovely little girl, no monster. And yes, everything is completely under control. I’d go into details, but for now you should all be thanking me the world wasn’t blown to smithereens. In any case, what are you doing up so late anyway?”
“You tell me. I was supposed to get off an hour ago but I’m now investigating the god damn gardens again.”
“Hmm? What for? Lina replanted everything, correct?”
“Yes, the mon-uh, girl replanted everything with the guards and did a bloody good job. But I need to find a woman in here.”
“Wait, what woman? We have intruders?”
“No, but everyone is reporting some woman screaming and moaning in pain from a certain place in the garden, so they emptied the area and notified me.”
Drima ckocked, “God, dammit!”
Rein weirdly looked at Drima, “Everything ok?”
Drima blushed, “Yeah, yeah, it’s all perfectly fine. Where are you right now?”
“I’m about to come around to the part in front of your lab at the side of the building.”
Drima grabbed a grenade and a gun, “Yeah, perfectly fine! I’ll be right back, give me a moment!”
Drima left the room, leaving the transmission behind and Rein waiting while he went back up into the window he threw his tablet from and looked down, only to see a bright rectangular flash coming from bellow. He promptly took off the pin from the grenade and lodged at it before firing the entire magazine of bullets directly onto the still operating tablet, the explosion and the bullet fire finally destroying it completely. He then tossed the gun aside and went back into the room, Reina fuming with rage.
“What the hell did you just do again?! I swear, if I have to save your ass one more time for today-“, she was interrupted.
“Yeah, sorry, don’t worry, I’ll have Lina replant some plants tomorrow, she loves it anyway, gotta go, bye!”
He closed the transmission as he breath a long sigh of relief, his current troubles finally coming to an end. What was really about to elevate his anxiety, however, was the immanent future of tomorrow, as he, like everyone else, knew that every step was going to be treated with care and be crucial to a better tomorrow.

If you had a chance to reset history, knowing what we know now, would you take it? Six years after kicking an alien expeditionary force off the surface of the Earth back to their staging bases in the asteroid belt, and aided by stolen alien technology, the United Terran Republic Navy has finally achieved enough warship production to put the enemy on the run. Despite the facade of unity projected by the Earth's new federal government, deep cracks still lie under the surface that threaten the stability of world peace and the ability to protect humanity with a unified military response. Within this backdrop, the North American Union, now a mere state in the greater union, has created or reopened multiple off-books projects and black sites to house secrets both old and new that would be far too toxic or dangerous to be known to the wider world at such a delicate stage in world history. One of these secrets will draw Captain Henry O'Toole from his comfortable posting with the Jupiter Fleet straight into a world of conspiracies and secrets that could destroy the new, still fragile world order. Captain O'Toole will take command of mankind's first true starship with a secret mission that would be seen as treason by the new federal government. His orders are to use a prototype faster than light drive to travel through dimensions higher than spacetime and ride the expansion of the universe to create an off-books colony solely for the NAU. There are consequences for escaping time's jealous grasp, which instead position them to have a chance to change the course of human history. Fate has called the Indomitable Will and her crew into the Age of Heroes, will they be able to rise to the challenge?
