The Summoner is Going Chapter 147 part2
Translation: Charlotte
Editor: Weasalopes
The Mumyo vs. Zuiun fight reached a stalemate.
I kind of expected that.
Although, before Zuiun was hit by a flame, Zuiun definitely had the upper hand.
But they both couldn’t settle the fight.
Zuiun stuck to Mumyo and started trying to suck MP.
But Mumyo didn’t make it so easy.
Mumyo’s spells also didn’t have much of an effect on Zuiun.
The fight wasn’t going anywhere.
In the meantime, the damage Mumyo took from Zuiun was also recovered.
I had expected that outcome.
But it was still a big deal.
I could check my Summon Monsters’ compatibilities with one another.
And I could see which Summon Monsters were stronger in battle.
The match ended.
Time-out, ending in a draw.
Next.
I tried fighting Mumyo myself.
But I first took out all my “_ of Torture” items.
I wanted to try fighting bare-handed.
I had all my physical enchant spells, I was confident!
I remember.
I felt like I was fighting a skeleton for the first time again.
Mumyo’s crab armour would make the fight a lot more difficult.
I even gave myself a handicap by fighting bare-handed.
But it was insane!
I couldn’t get any damage in!
I could just throw Mumyo around.
Joint locks were meaningless against a skeleton.
And soon, Mumyo healed all the damage I dealt.
I didn’t think it would be that much of a struggle.
This fight…
I had to go all out.
Especially for dodging attacks.
But I couldn’t settle the match by just dodging attacks.
My only option was to use a lot of punches, kicks and throws.
This is bad…
My attacks were being resisted.
I didn’t intend on using attack spells, but I somehow started getting ideas of using them.
But the match soon ended to time-out, and I got the win based on a small difference in our HP bars.
Nonetheless, I didn’t expect the fight to be that difficult.
It must’ve been that…
I just still had a long way to go.
《Summon Monster『Mumyo』Level Up!》
《Please put one point into a desired stat.》
Mumyo didn’t win the battle.
But a level-up happened nevertheless.
It was a little strange…
But alright.
The stat that went up with the level-up was AGI.
I put another point into STR.
Mumyo Skeleton Lv6→Lv7(↑1)
DEX 16
AGI 16(↑1)
INT 12
STR 13(↑1)

Alright…
I still felt like I was cheating the system a bit though.
Anyway.
I recalled Mumyo.
I replaced Mumyo with…
Goki.
Goki’s physique was looking great.
His equipment was also looking good.

I replaced Goki’s usual cleaver with a wooden sword.
Naturally, the fight was against me.
Here we go…
I went for it.
Wow…
Our fighting styles were clashing nicely.
It was fun.
Why didn’t I notice this earlier.
Goki did great as a warrior in the front lines, with a sword and shield.
Goki didn’t have any obvious weaknesses.
There were few opportunities for me.
If I had to mention one, I’d say Goki’s DEX stat could still see some improvement.
I tried my best to fight bare-handed, and both our HP bars were down by 30% by the time the fight ended.
The pain remained after the fight, but I didn’t mind.
It was a good match.
Based on our HP bars, the victory went to Goki.
I used recovery spells on both myself and Goki, so I could have a rematch as soon as possible.
I had just found a really interesting feature!
The next match, I tried to focus more on dodging.
I wanted to focus on counter-attacking.
Goki only had a wooden sword, but my armour wasn’t enough to completely absorb each blow.
The damage I took was minimal, though.
But I still had to be careful.
I wouldn’t put it beyond Goki to be able to do some serious damage.
What about my attacks?
Without good technique, there was no way I could get any good damage in.
That’s what made the fight so good for training.
I had to come up with a plan.
I couldn’t just rush in without thinking.
The key was to combine my throws and joint lock techniques.
It was difficult to time each attack properly.
Especially since Goki had a shield, gaps for me to attack were short and rare.
It was hard work just trying to get behind him.
But at the very least, I could try.
It was just a match after all.
I had the freedom to test things out.
I grabbed the edge of Goki’s shield, jumped, and landed behind him.
Another strategy that worked was grabbing Goki’s shoulder, and then wrapping around behind him.
【Jump】and【Acrobatics】were working properly, but it still took a couple attempts for me get the hang of it.
The match ended with a time-out.
Once again, it was Goki’s win based on our HP bars.
I spent too much time horsing around.
《Summon Monster『Goki』Level Up!》
《Please put one point into a desired stat.》
Goki got some nice experience out of it.
I wonder if that was because Goki was fighting me in particular?
There was no way for me to tell.
The stat that went up with the level-up was DEX.

I put another point into AGI.

After that, I had another battle with Goki.
That time I won after time-out.
Goki wasn’t just stronger, he was a lot more skilful than before the level-up.
Goki took advantage of his shield more often to close the distance.
No, Goki had been doing it since our first battle, but he was just a lot more skilful at handling the shield.
But with Goki focussing more on avoiding attacks, he became more careless in his own attacks.
Great.
I managed to get a good feel of the technique.
It wasn’t even 9 pm yet.
I could go again against another Summon Monster.
The more difficult the match-up, the better.
I recalled Goki and summoned Jericho.
I wasn’t very confident in myself.
I doubted I would be able to beat Jericho without spells.
I was bare-handed, but I still had physical enchant spells.
It would still be a difficult fight, though.
But that was what would make the fight worth it.
The more I struggle, the more I would learn.
Jericho’s movements were dull.
A slowness second only to Zuiun.
But I learnt something important in the match.
I couldn’t underestimate the pressure that Jericho could keep up.
The first match lasted for 10 minutes, and I spent most of it just running away.
Jericho’s attacks never hit directly, but managed to scratch me sometimes.
But Jericho didn’t have the speed to chase me once I got running.
I was sure I would have to deal with a player built like Jericho.
In the next battle, Jericho suddenly liquefied.
It was Jericho’s trump card.
Of course, I knew about the ability from the beginning.
I just didn’t think that Jericho would actually do it.
I immediately put some distance between myself and the liquified Jericho.
But Jericho quickly caught up with me.
Yes, while in liquid form, Jericho’s agility was massively improved.
It was like…
Slime?
It wasn’t anything like Volff, but it was still a big difference.
It was enough to punish me for underestimating Jericho.
But I also knew Jericho couldn’t use the ability very often.
That’s why I was looking to make the best use of the opportunity to fight Jericho in that form.
I kept going.
I was in the 7th match.
So far, I was at 3 wins and 3 losses, all after time-out.
Both me and Jericho continued fighting in close range without any changes in strategy.
Damage was starting to pile up, but it was still minor.
And the 7th match ended by time-out.
The 7th match went to Jericho.
《Summon Monster『Jericho』Level Up!》
《Please put one point into a desired stat.》
Nice.
I suppose wars of attrition were better for experience points.
But that didn’t mean I wanted to take damage on purpose.
I could expect insane amounts of damage if I were ever unfortunate enough to get stomped on by Jericho.
Hmm?
The stat that went up with the level-up was VIT.
I put another point into SPI.
Jericho Mud Golem Lv1→Lv2(↑1)
DEX 5
AGI 6
INT 5
STR 35
VIT 36(↑1)
SPI 6(↑1)
Skills:
Punch Kick Magical Resistance [Slight] Self-Repair [Slight] Block Liquefaction
I wasn’t concerned with getting pretty numbers here for a change.
It was a bit frustrating though.
I hoped for a STR increase in the next level-up.
I was glad I did the matches against my Summon Monsters.
It was good training.
Imagining a fight and actually fighting were two very different things.
Nobody is perfect.
Everybody has strengths and weaknesses.
Of course, that applied to all my opponents in the tournament, and myself.
I just had to figure out their weaknesses, and hopefully have some fun doing so.
Take advantage of my strengths.
Prevent the enemy from making use of my weaknesses.
Those two concepts were going to be the key to my victory.
Of course, those concepts were easier said than done
The time was past 10 pm.
I could’ve done a few more battles.
But I wanted to conserve my MP bar so I decided against it.
I didn’t know what was waiting for me tomorrow.
I could make more potions and mana potions.
I could make more bottles too.
Maybe I could do some woodworking.
Or I could just keep playing with my Summon Monsters. That would be nice too.
