From The Strongest Job of Dragon Knight, To The Beginner Job Carrier, Somehow, The Heroes are Depending on Me Volume 2 Chapter 7

The morning of that day
Marion got out of her bed in a guest room at the top floor of the pirate inn.
And, after dressing and getting herself in order, she left the room, heading for the deepest part of the inn.
There was a private room with a small round table.
「Hey, good morning, Marion, I’ve been waiting.」
Lilac was sitting there alone.
Marion replied as she took the seat opposite Lilac.
「I’m on time. Well then, can we start a debriefing?」
「Of course. I already skimmed through the materials that you handed me yesterday, so please proceed with details. After all, this is a valuable information exchange between the heads of the cardinal guilds.」
「Yes, since we are doing this only in case of such emergencies I will give a detailed explanation.」
Twelve Cardinal guilds often held meetings to share information when problems occurred in any of their cities.
In those talks a menace is treated as a mutual threat, if the damage were to be large, cooperative steps for its eradication are taken.
To that end, Marion told Lilac what happened in the City of Stars—
「……I see. Good grief, not only had you giant monsters emerging from the primordial forest, but also an ancient dragon popped up, what a crazy situation.」
With a deep breath, Lilac slapped her hand on the documents lying on the table.
Among them are written reports of the damages to the city.
Furthermore, she received a detailed verbal explanation, apparently transmitting the degree of the danger well enough.
「It was very serious. Though we were saved by Axel-san’s presence.」

In the report, Axel’s activity is written as it was.
When you look at it, the thought of how it might have turned if he wasn’t there fills the heart with a chill. But—
「……The report says『 Due to the efforts of the《Flying Carrier》Axel Granz the damage was minimal』, but is this really the case?」
Lilac’s reaction was very calm.
「Yes. Although it might be hard to believe…」
Even for us, who saw it happening with our own eyes we needed time to digest that. I can’t blame her for finding it hard to believe—
「No, I trust you. This morning, I learned first hand just how terrific Axel-san is.」
Said Lilac.
「Morning? Did Axel-san do something?」
「Yes, he delivered a package while he was on his morning stroll. He was absurdly fast.」
A bit excitedly, Lilac explained what happened in the morning.
Apparently, she also got the first-hand experience with his speed.
「It might have been troublesome for Axel-san, but it’s fortunate that I was able to witness that power and speed. Thanks to that I was pretty much able to take in the contents of this report. But—」
Said that, Lilac hesitated for a bit. However, it seems that she soon resolved herself and immediately opened her mouth again.
「Is that carrier really the Dragon Hero——《Invisible Dragon Knight》?」
She voiced such doubts. As expected, that bothered her.
We were troubled with that as well, so I understand her really well, is what Marion thought before calmly affirming.
「Yes. Though it seems that he changed his profession to a carrier.」
「I see…」
「You find it hard to believe?」
「No, it’s not like I’m doubting that, but I as well have seen invisible dragon knight during the war, he was emitting such heavy pressure, like some monster, so I barely remember his appearance. And I just can’t link those two.」

Lilac was looking at the documents while holding a hand to her jaw, making a faint「Hmm」sound.
「Nothing can be done about that, it’s a matter of individual perception. However, from my viewpoint, he is unmistakably the real dragon hero.」
「Well, after seeing that insane speed, even I can’t bring myself to doubt that. He is no ordinary carrier, this much is a fact, only legendary class adventurers and heroes are capable of such deeds. ——The other hero that resides in this town also moves in a pretty unbelievable way.」
Said Lilac while looking at the sea through the window.
「Eh? There is another Hero in this city?」
「Yes. Since a while ago the hero of magic is staying here… And I just thought, but it might be better to avoid having them meet each other as much as possible.」
「Huh, why?」
When asked, Lilac closed her eyes for a few seconds, apparently pondering on something, and they began to move her lips.
「……That’s because, that hero of magic. . . Every time she meets a scoundrel calling himself Axel, she would beat him to a pulp and only then turn him over to the city guard.」
「Eh? What is this quirk? Or actually, it’s barbarity.」
「Apparantely, according to her own words, it’s a combination of training and a ritual to meet the one she wants to see. Though it never became a problem, because every beaten person was a con artist or a thief… And seeing how badly she has beaten them, I suspect she might have a grudge against the name of Axel.」
Being one of the heroes, it’s extremely likely that it’s one of Axel’s acquaintances.
However, hearing about such odd behavior makes one suspect that even if they are acquaintances they might not be on friendly terms. We know next to nothing about relationships inside of the party of the heroes. If so—
「Indeed, it might be better not to let them meet… That hero of magic is still in this city, right?」
「No, yesterday, a report came that she left into the sea to chase the ship of a fraudulent merchant and that’s it. There has been no report of her return, so since she isn’t in the city, they probably won’t meet for a while. The place of Axel-san’s stay and his whereabouts are concealed, and he also doesn’t throw out his name left and right, so the chances of her hearing about this and suddenly appearing are pretty low.」
Certainly, as Lilac says, it’s unlikely for them to meet.
This city is large and the chances of meeting someone by coincidence are low. But—
「……For now, let’s just tell Axel-san about this.」
Axel-san probably has his own circumstances, so it’s unclear if he will leave this town right away, but for the time being it would be better to share this information.
「Yeah. Carrier Axel-san is not a criminal, and most of all, he is our important guest and associate. If the hero of magic were to meddle with him without any good reason, we shall provide him full protection.」
「Fufu, that is reassuring. Then, we will give him information along with these sentiments… And since we are at it, let’s decide on other information we should or should not share with Axel-san.」
「Yes, agreed.」
And in such shape, the morning meeting of twelve guilds by Marion and Lilac proceeded.

An Unwavering Craftsman
Given the hereditary nature of classes, everyone expects Damien—the child of two high-tiered adventurers—to be granted a high-tier combat class of his own. Expectations are betrayed, however, when Damien finds himself instead saddled with a crafting class of the lowest possible tier: [Neophyte Tailor]. Left practically crippled compared to those with better classes, Damien wants to avoid becoming a pawn in the machinations of the nobility, desiring only to grind his level in peace while wondering why the usual rules of inheritance were broken. Was it his desire to excel by his own effort, rather than an unearned blessing from a god? Did the Five take offence at his opinions on the unfairness of hereditary classes? Or maybe it was something to do with the alien voice that intruded on his ceremony? A voice that offers great power, and freedom from the tyranny of the Five, but that never names its price. This story is litRPG-lite. While the class someone possesses controls most of their lives, people don't get dinged at for every level they gain, nor can they see their status without undergoing a special ritual. The MC has no romantic interest. Crafting is merely a way to game the system, and doesn't feature heavily in the story, aside from a few descriptions on how they're carrying out the system abuse. There is, on one unfortunate occasion, maths. The pace is quick. This was a participant in the Spring 2022 writathon. (i.e. it was posted as-written at high speed. I may give it another editing pass in the future.)
