《Love Death Cemetery》Chap 50: Dried blood and candies

Lug remained unconscious until the evening.
When he woke up, he had lost a good part of his memory.
It was dark and he was alone in his house.
He felt like something was missing.
But his headache and the blood he wiped off his face told him that there was more pressing matters than his sense of discomfort.
He went into the bathroom to look at himself in the mirror.
His face was very pale, with dried blood lining the edges of his nostrils.
He had dried white marks around his mouth, and no idea what they were.
But he had no doubt that it tasted like vomit in his mouth.
He quickly rinsed his face and brushed his teeth.
When he realized that his body was sticky with sweat, he went to take a shower.
Then, Lug went to make himself something to eat.
He turned on the gas and put a pot of water to heat up.
After a few minutes, the water boiled.
He was about to take the rice, when he saw the water change.
The bubbles became eyes and the boiling sound became a sinister growl.
He turned off the stove and walked away.
Whatever had just happened, he quickly brushed it aside.
"I must be tired," he thought.
He put the rice in the water and covered it with a lid.
After his meal, Lug looked around.
He knew he was home, but this place seemed foreign to him.
"I work in a cemetery... And what else?"
He was puzzled, but it was late, too late to find answers.
He went to bed, exhausted.
He had a restless night, where memories mixed with nightmarish delusions.
After a few hours of sleep, that were more exhausting than restful, he got up and finally decided to go out.

He hesitated for a moment as he put on his shoes; as if they didn't belong to him.
He had less difficulty putting on his coat, he felt a sense of comfort by wearing it.
Outside, a familiar feeling enveloped him.
But it was quickly followed by new doubts.
The vegetables, the swing, the fountain, the metal plates on the door.
It all seemed strange to him.
He moved closer to the cemetery gate and opened it to observe the surroundings.
Nothing.
Nothing, except a small red car parked there.
"I have a car?" Lug thought.
He didn't think for long before he heard a voice calling him.
"Hi, Lug. It's been a while, how are you?"
A young blonde woman, slightly shorter than him, dressed in a white down jacket greeted him.
Right there, juste behind him.
He had not heard her approach.
"Mmmh, hello. Do we know each other?" Lug replied.
She blinked several times, not knowing what to say.
"You look a little pale, are you okay?" she said, ignoring what she had taken to be a joke.
Lug took a few seconds to answer, analyzing the situation.
"Could it be my girlfriend?" he asked himself.
He looked her in the eye, then started to think again.
"No, she's way too good for me. So who is she?"
Hannah didn't wait for his answer any longer.
"Well, you must have woken up not long ago, I won't bother you any longer. I went to see the Wise One. Now I'm going back home, I got a little waitressing job, part time. Nice, isn't it?"
"Yes, that's great." Lug replied, without much conviction.
"Well, I'll see you tomorrow, bye!"
She walked out of the cemetery.
Lug shut the door and heard her car start and drive away.

"The Wise One? What was she talking about?" he thought.
Lug found himself alone in the cemetery, not sure what to do.
The day passed slowly.
He cleaned a few graves, pulled some weeds.
He was bored.
The feeling of emptiness that he felt did not leave him.
Something was missing, but what?
Peace and quiet was all he wanted and he had it here.
This was the perfect place, the place he had always dreamed of.
So why wasn't he happy?
No, more than that.
Why did he feel so sad?
Sad, like someone who lost something very important.
In the evening, Lug went to bed, he had not eaten much and was almost not tired despite the work done in the cemetery.
He fell asleep quite quickly, despite the apparent lack of fatigue he felt.
He dreamed of the young woman he had met in the morning.
He woke up several times.
It was a restless night, one of those that makes you look forward to the morning.
The next day, Lug got up at dawn.
And the first thing he did, was waiting in front of his house, seated on the wooden bench he had placed there.
He was hoping to see Hannah again.
"Hannah? How do I know her name?" he asked himself.
There was no answer to this question.
After a few hours, the cemetery gate creaked.
It was Hannah.
Lug hadn't even heard her car.
He didn't know why, but he felt happy to see her.
She had her hair tied back and was holding a cardboard bag.
"Hi, Lug. Since you didn't look so good yesterday, I brought you some candy."
Hannah walked over to him, and handed him the bag.
"Okay, it's not very good for your health, but it’s a morale booster, right?" she said, smiling.
Lug took the bag, without taking his eyes off that which really interested him.
She sat down on the bench, next to him.
"Well, tell me what's going on with you." Hannah asked, taking candy from the bag Lug was holding.
Lug followed her lead and ate a piece of candy, let out a sigh and began to speak.
"I woke up yesterday, and I couldn't remember anything. I don't know who you are, I just remember that your name is Hannah, and that I like you a lot."
Hannah stopped chewing.
She began to blush.
She didn't know how to respond.
"Umm... You forgot everything, like... Everything?" she said, not sure if she should take him seriously.
"I know my name is Lug, I know I work here, I know it's really boring, and I know I feel like I've lost something." he spoke, counting on his fingers.
Hannah looked at him intently.
"Have you told anyone about this? Eno? Gavan? The Wise One?" she asked.
"Who? I don't know anyone here."
"Wait... Do you see the people over there, by the graves." she pointed at Valmont.
Lug squinted and looked carefully at the spot Hannah was pointing to.
"No, there's no one there."
He didn't understand what she was trying to do.
"Follow me."
She stood up and took him by the arm.
"I'll take you to someone who can shed light on all this."
