《Origin of Flames》26 Dire Circumstances

I shiver and quake, "So c-cold." I snap and not even a spark. I pull myself up with a mind bending pain, the feeling of my skull exploding and twisting. I manage to get to my feet through this agony. I shamble forward with only one thought on my mind, to help Bella get back safe. I look in the mirror, my wounds, they don't seem at all better. I shamble over and call out, "Shadows!" The candles light up to my surprise. To think it was that easy. I gulp, "It might be on deaf ears, but god hasn't answered my pleas." I look up to the candles, shadows of workers appear with crossed arms, "Help them get back, please." I look down and sigh, no response.

The blizzard grows worse as we make it back into town, "Hey, Trash Bin! Quit that!" Marigold moos with Martha on her back, "Oh, don't call her that!" Gus barks, "Why not? She's clawing into my back!" I hiss at Gus and he halts, shaking uncontrollably. "What now?" He whines, "Stonekin's here." Marigold looks around, "Where?!" A sinister voice comes booming through the howling wind, "Stonekin smells two for the price of one!" After a series of stomps, he comes through the white veil, his white fur now drenched in his own blood. He looks at me and roars, "Cat!" I jump off Gus' back and bolt away. "No! Trash Bin!" I meow, "Go help him!" I rush into a store and he catches up, he's slower than before. Even so, here he comes crashing through brick walls with ease. I rush through the doorways as he roars, "Stonekin will crush you!" I rush into another store-

I jump at the candles' smoke rushing to me as the door opens. I roar at the pain in my back. I grit my teeth as a woman's voice cries out, "Harry! No!" "Save him, Martha." The workers hold their hands to me as I fall over.

Stonekin crashes through the bathroom stalls and he finally backs me into a corner, my hairs stick up and I growl while quivering. I can't kill him. His face draws nearer and he opens wide, "Die!" What was to be a mewl riddled with fear, a roar weakly thunders from my vocal cords as I leap into his mouth and slice relentlessly in the pitch black darkness within him. With one blink, my eyes adjust slightly to the darkness. Blood spurts from his neck, but with one loud inhale, he roars and I hit a brick wall. He claws at me and my legs spring me so high in the air off instinct. Landing on his back, the powerful force springs out my legs to run out this store. It takes all I've got to run through the blizzard without being blown away, towards the building.

Through the little hole in the wall, I quiver and catch my breath with the fear of a violent death still on my mind. Martha, Gus and Marigold stand over him while he lies on the floor. Martha kneels, "Damn, he's in bad shape." I walk up and drop a needle for her. Marigold and Gus look at me, Marigold scoots back in a panic. Gus nods, "What the hell happened?" My quivering just won't stop. He sniffs the air, "That's his blood?!" I sit and look at my paws, my bloodied claws won't retract. He scoots back and just stares at me. At this point, Marigold has moved far away from me in a panic.

All the panic and fight or flight comes to a grinding halt, he wakes up and flails in confusion and pain. He grabs Martha with what little strength he has. I meow loud, "She's helping you!" I walk up and he holds a hand to me and runs his hand through my bloodied fur. With a dazed smile, he nods. She puts a cloth in his mouth, "Bite." The muffled screams of pain. They're horrible to watch. Marigold and Gus come close to comfort him too, as if we're all thinking it. He's not going to make it?
