《Psychic x Fantasy》World of Psychic CH 24: Time Marches On

“Fuck yeah!” Jana said, thrusting her arm out in a mock punch. Snow began to glitter around the office, water spontaneously freezing and sweeping up into a gentle wind. “That sounds like a great idea.”
Jeremy took a step back, and Madam Illuma appeared taken aback as well, though she hardly flinched. “Erm…” she began. “I wasn’t expecting that sort of enthusiasm but-”
“What do you mean?” Jana said in confusion. “Making a place for psychics to thrive is practically Psychic League’s motto! I’ve been looking to do this ever since…” She frowned, mellowing just a little. “Ever since I took control of the company. But, uhh…I gotta be real with you here, I can’t just…do that, you know? I need time to get everyone on board. Shareholders, other leaders of the company...An idea like this takes quite a while to function, y’know?”
“Oh, of course,” Madam Illuma assured her, shaking a hand. “Please, absolutely take your time. I just wanted you to hear my crazy idea out.”
“Yeah, I figured. Umm…the first step would be getting you in contact with a marketing specialist, and at that point, you can pitch it to us at Psychic League. I mean, you’re a Psychic Master, so they’d definitely hear you out. The problem after that would have to be getting the rest of the shareholders on board, advertising, construction, working with governments and creating programs for them to clarify Psychics’ training, and then construction and infrastructure…though it looks like you already have an outline for that. So…definitely a big task.” Jana patted a journal on the desk.
“Uhh…Y-yes, all of that,” the older woman said, still surprised by her enthusiasm. “You said that you could get me in touch with a marketing specialist…”
As some details were bieng sorted out, Jeremy glanced at the two ethereal beings chilling beside the wall. “What do you two think?” he said, sidling closer to them to whisper.
They both had thoughtful expressions, and Blue spoke first. “I don’t have much vested intrest in the matter, to be honest, but it does at least sound like it could be good.”
“Neither do I,” Yellow said with a seemingly bored posture and expression, “But this is interesting. Your friend here has a large influence on the world, and only partly because of her raw power. Her company has roots planted deep in society, and with those, she hopes to change the fabric of society.” He closed his eyes. “Most people as smart, capable, and powerful as her have a tendency to misuse what they have…hmm…” he grumbled. “And although I’m tempted to believe she is among the honorable, it takes more than words to convince me.”
Jeremy and Blue stared at him with surprise.
When Yellow opened his eyes, he looked at them worriedly. “What? Did I say something strange?”
“Mmm…no, not at all,” Blue responded. “I just…didn’t expect you so say so much.”
“Did you think I was a man of little words? I have just as much to say as any other person.”
Blue tensed his neck, meeting eyes with Jeremy in an expression implying that was exactly what they’d thought.
“Is that a yes? A no?”
“Sometimes a proper answer shan’t be given,” Blue explained, turning along with Jeremy to the ending conversation between Jana and Macy.

“What is that supposed to mean?” Yellow asked. “Anyone? Someone? I need to know…aww, whatever, I’ll just shutup and live in darkness, if that’s how we’re doing this.”
“Then it’s all settled and done,” Jana said, outstretching an arm. “I hope things go well for you.”
Macy smiled as she shook it. “Thank you, so much. I wouldn’t be capable of anything without help like this.”
“No prob. So about the show…?”
“Oh, we already have all the footage we need of you. This episode couldn’t be released for some time, anyway. Besides…”
“Speaking of time, whatda’ya think it will take for you to complete the task?”
Macy shook her head. “This might be among my most difficult ventures, in fact. It may take well over a month to find such an obscure lot of people. Me and my diciples are well-disciplined in finding what is lost, but even then…well, you understand.”
Jana nodded. “Is that okay?” she asked Jeremy.
He frowned nervously, looking to the side. “I…” Just how much danger is my sister in? How long can she stay there? He looked at Blue.
Blue sighed, glancing to Yellow nervously. “That’s the best chance you have,” he said.
Jeremy nodded to Jana. “Yeah..” He felt tears begin to well in his eyes, their appearance feeling almost random. He wiped his eyes with his arm. “T-thank you, both of you.”
“No problem, bro,” Jana said, grabbing his shoulder and pulling him in to her side with a big smile. “We’ll get your sister out.”
“Oh, am I missing something important?” Madam Illuma asked. “I forgot to ask, but is this all related to him? Jeremy Purdue, right?”
He nodded. “Y-yeah…” he looked to Blue. “Can I tell her?” he mouthed.
They shrugged in response.
He looked back. “In truth, I think my sister is trapped in another universe.”
Macy’s eyes widened. “Another universe?” she said redundantly. “Whatever could you mean?”
“I don’t really know, to be honest. I wish I knew anything that’s happening around me. Everything’s felt so chaotic ever since…” He paused. “Man, ever since I can remember.”
“Hmm…I hope that works out for you. But, I am curious, why are you being aided by Jana Pontoon of all people? I feel as though I’m missing something important, but it is on the tip of my tongue.”
Jeremy raised an eyebrow at her. “Oh, you don’t know?”
“Know what?”
“I’m Psychi Purdue’s brother.”
“Oh. Ohhhhh, I-” The Psychic Master shook her head, looking upward with an embarrassed smile. “Oh my, I feel like quite the fool, now. I should have known…But, erm…” she placed a hand on his shoulder with a regretful expression. “Sorry, that must have been quite the shock for you, your sister disappearing like that. I don’t quite understand the details, but if you need any more help, please, feel free to ask for it.”
“Umm…wow, yeah, thanks,” he said, surprised. “It means a lot…” Actually…considering what’s about to happen… “Could I get your phone number?” Jeremy asked suddenly as it looked like Macy was about to speak.
Her eyebrows narrowed. “My phone number…? I suppose I can. My number is 081-357-777”
“Thanks…and that’s your private?”
“Yes…”
He nodded.
She sent him a soft smile, then said, “So, if that is all, I and my disciples ought to prepare our search. Time marches for all!”

“Well,” Jana said with a smile as she sat down with Jeremy. “I think this was a pretty productive venture.”
After speaking with Madam Illuma, Jana had suggested that they get gelato. After shaking off the curious bystanders and posing as ordinary pedestrians walking the streets, she and him had settled down outside a gelato shop and ordered. They sat outside, where a large mountain overlooked the suburban city some dozen kilometers away. It was a beautiful view by most standards, and fog hung curiously over the mountainous forest in the distance.
“Yeah, it looks like you really got shit done with Madam Illuma.”
“Ehh, I just gave her a platform to speak her plea. I’m only able to own Psychic League because I have a damn good lawyer, and also cause’, yknow,” she smirked. “I could literally shit on the prime minister and get away with it, so people don’t trust my judgment all that much.”
“Mmm…yeah.” Jeremy nodded slowly. “Cause’ you’re not even eighteen.”
“Ye,” she simply said, glancing to the shop. “Anyway, how are you holding up?” she asked. Is it just me, or has he been off today?
“Fine…” he glanced to the side nervously. “What do you think we’re going to do once we get back? We are going back after all of this, right?”
“Nah, we don’t have any more detours on our way home. If I rush, I could get us back late at night. I can’t see in the dark though, so that’s a bit iffy.” She cracked her head nonchallantly. “But, uhh, after this? I guess it’s back to doin’ what I always do. Running my company, training, stuff like that.”
“Hmm…” Jeremy looked to the side. “What…where will you live?”
“My secretary’s already been looking for another cute little appartment to crash in,” she said thoughtfully. “I’d love the satisfaction of claiming your sis’ territory as my own, but Montreal is kinda my base of operations, and flying a few hours every day to get back there would be mentally exhausting in more ways than one.”
Jeremy said nothing, staring down with a seemingly neutral expression as Jana stood wordlessly then grabbed them their gelato. She slid him his cup with some sneaky telekinesis, and while he continued to say nothing, she refroze it, ensuring it wouldn’t melt.
“So uhh…” She began soberly, before adopting a cheery tone. “Ya gonna miss me?”
He slowly looked up with a small, worried frown. “Umm…oh, yeah, totally,” he said absently, not completely paying attention.
“Of course you will!” she said. “Just don’t miss me too much, I don’t wanna see you sad.”
“Hmm…”
She sighed. “And what about you?”
He looked up, attentive again. “What do you mean?”
“I…” he said, trailing off immediately. “I don’t know. M-maybe…first, I’d need to find a way to school.”
“Mmhm?” Jana said, ushering him on.
“Then…I guess I’ll just wait…and hope someone finds a way to get her back.”
Jana reached over and placed a hand on Jeremy’s shoulder. “I would do everything I can to help with that.”
“Thanks…” Jeremy frowned even more, though mostly out of confusion. “You know, we’ve been doing all of this under the assumption that my sister is in danger…but I can’t figure out why we think that.”
“We don’t even know how we know she’s in another dimension so…” she said offhandedly.
“Hmm…” Yellow said, the man leaning against the building’s wall along with Blue as he eyed Jana’s gelato. “I wondered that, too, actually,” he said, taking their and Jeremy’s attention.
“What do you mean, exactly?” Blue asked.
“How, precisely, are we so sure she’s in another universe?” he elaborated. “The ability to pass between worlds is rarely possible in the first place, although I can’t remember why, so how come that’s our first guess? You never gave me details, Blue.”
“My apologies, we hardly had time to speak. I suppose I should elaborate. She was encircled by a complex green circle with runes I didn’t recognize, then it created a green light that enveloped her, causing the woman to disappear. I instinctively understood the energy it emitted to originate in another universe, and furthermore, I saw the mysterious runes of an unknown language placed within the circle.”
Yellow’s eyes widened as Blue explained the details, then when he finished with a satisfied expression, Yellow’s eyebrows narrowed, his nostrils flaring. “You can’t be serious,” he said with a strange mix of emotions. “You said a green light with runic etchings?”
They slowly nodded. “Y-yes I did…does that mean something to you?”
“Whatcha’ talkin’ about over there?” Jana said curiously, interrupting the suddenly tense atmosphere Jeremy was witnessing with bated breath.
“Shh,” Jeremy emoted, a finger to his mouth.
“Does it mean something to me?! I-” he sighed, releasing his fury quickly, his lips curling into a scowl. “I should know that you weren’t there to see it. That woman may have hidden the truth, but…” Yellow glanced to Jeremy, trailing off. “We can discuss this later.”
“You all keep a lot of secrets, huh?” Jeremy said nervously
“Perhaps so,” Blue said, just as nervous, before motioning to Jana. “Speaking of secrets, how come you haven’t told Jana what’s about to happen?”
“Look,” he said, “I don’t know how or when that’ll happen. I don’t want to…” He resisted the urge to glance at Jana. “Piss her off somehow.”
“Piss her off? That’s what you’re afraid of? Please,” Blue scoffed. “It’s that same attitude that your sister had that ‘pisses her off’, and it’s that same attitude from you that made her disappear in the first place.”
Jeremy scowled at Blue. “Are you serious?” he said angrily.
“Of course I am. You know better than I that you could have easily saved your sister, had you merely cast a shot in the dark when you had a chance.”
“But I can’t-”
“Let me interrupt you immediately,” Blue said. “You can see into the future. That confers a responsibility unto you, just as it does your sister and everyone else. Should you fail to avert the future, blame falls unto you.”
“I didn’t ask for that damn responsibilit-”
“And yet you have it. Tell her before it’s too…late.” Blue looked to the sky. “Hmm, it seems I’ve failed. Time marches on.”
Jeremy followed their gaze, and so did a confused, worried Jana.
She immediately growled, as she Recognized the person cutting through the skies. “That bitch!”
