The emotional rollercoaster of it all set aside, she physically struggled to keep up with her risen-from-the-dead lover’s movements. The manner in which Zelsys ripped across the battlefield, sliding and drifting, tearing chunks out of the ground with sheer force - her movement was better compared to Zero than a person. A high-velocity war machine of which she was in total control… Barely.
Ubul raised a blindingly-fast trail of thin spikes from the earth, seeking to impale, or failing that, trap Zelsys, but for all their speed, the beast-slayer just set loose a flurry of Flying Thundersaws that cut them down like chaff, swarming around Ubul and biting pieces out of his skin. She came to a halt, casually striding across the flattened-out stone walkway she had created, leaving half-molten stone in her wake, her face plastered with a visage of psychotic exhilaration. A serpent of lightning slithered down her left arm, working the bolt of her gun, releasing a cloud of crackling Fog before it whipped back, pulling a new shell from her belt and seamlessly loading it into the weapon.
Zef’s tablet buzzed again. Another message in her mind’s eye.
“Shoot me in the back. I need a bit more kinetic charge.”
Not a moment’s hesitation crossed her mind - Zefaris threw a coin, briefly waiting for it to flash as she projected a Concussion Impact seal into the air in front of , before she willed a message to go out warning Zelsys, and in the same moment, shot that coin with the intent of sending the gunshot into her back. The gambit’s purpose was also a distraction, one that worked perfectly, prying open a split-second hole in the general’s attention. By the time the bullet bounced off the coin Zel had already formed a layer of Siphoning Pulse over the middle of her back, her hair wreathed in the Fog of Graze Pulse, its impact seeming to instantly propel Zelsys forward at a velocity surpassing even what she had displayed up until now. She smashed cleaver-first into Ubul, the Butcher’s entire length wrapped in lightning, her strike whipping forward with such velocity it cracked the sound barrier. The blade flashed with such velocity as to split the general’s head down the middle, but it simply lacked the raw destructive power. It left a crater in his forehead, a crack down the middle of his stonebound skull, but he was able to grab the blade and force it away, even as the killing light which enveloped it ripped at his hands.

“Did your emperor not share with you what I told him?!” she questioned, deftly shifting her grip, pulling the trigger-lever of her weapon as a serpent of lightning whipped down the length of her arm and slithered into the gun. The Thundercannon’s blinding flash of light and thundercrack resounded before Ubul could retort, but not before he could front kick his opponent away, freeing up his arms to serve as a defense. Even still, the shell had the wherewithal to pierce through, ripping a hole through the general’s arms and becoming lodged within his forehead. Zelsys, her chest glistening with the fading sheen of iron and entirely unharmed, handsprung back to her feet, yet again seemingly misusing whatever elemental might she had usurped to merely reload her gun without the use of her hands. The two clashed openly yet again, both throwing out their strongest techniques with seeming abandon, Ubul shattering the earth and constantly forming constructs from the earth and his own body alike, while Zelsys obliterated them just as quickly, cutting them apart with her cleaver, enveloping her boot in lightning to kick them to pieces, and striking right through Ubul’s defences through the invocation of Thunderclap Sting.
To all but a number of observers easily counted on one hand, this protracted, chaotic dance was little more than just that - chaos. A display of primordial violence beyond human comprehension, a clashing of two natural forces that couldn’t be stopped once they were set in motion. Then, just as quickly as it had begun, it stopped - the two simply separated, neither displaying visible injuries or exhaustion. Zelsys continued on with her tangent as if nothing had happened, spinning the bladed tuning fork her cleaver had become all the while. It didn’t seem to have lost any structural integrity, but the blade was so badly cracked and its handle so deformed, Zefaris could swear it was about to fly apart.

“I’ll get dismembered a hundred times and take a hundred lightning strikes! For all the effort you’ve put into cheating death, I’d have thought you would at least know better than to underestimate another’s defiance of the reaper.”
“I… HAVE UNDERESTIMATED YOU, YES. I WILL NOT PRETEND OTHERWISE. IT IS A MISTAKE I WILL NOT MAKE AGAIN, FOR YOU SEE, I HAVE SCARCELY REVEALED SEVEN TENTHS OF MY TRUE STRENGTH.”
“STONE BEAST ARTS: MOUNTAIN GOD MANTLE!”
Six arms erupted from Ubul’s back, merging together with his actual arms to form limbs of monstrous size, six more yet bursting forth and merging to form a second pair, while his legs bulked up to a smaller degree, but still enough to match. His proportions should’ve by rights appeared comical, yet somehow, they weren’t. The revelation had little apparent effect upon the beast-slayer’s morale - if anything, it only excited her even more, prompting an audible chuckle from the woman.
“I’ve scarcely even tapped a third of my full capability!” she proclaimed boisterously.
“The whole of the Living Storm has entrusted me with your death, general! You, who have thrown away your humanity for duty’s sake, can never defeat me! My very existence is a direct consequence of your conquest, your feverish desire to stamp out all opposition!”
“REGARDLESS OF WHAT COMES TO PASS TODAY, KNOW THAT YOUR EMPEROR IS DOOMED. EVEN SHOULD YOU GRIND ME DOWN TO DUST AND SCATTER ME TO THE FOUR WINDS AS THE SAGE DID TO YOUR PRECIOUS WEAPON, I WILL RETURN IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER.”
“I’VE GATHERED STRENGTH FROM THE DEPTHS OF THE EARTH, THE BEASTS OF THE LAND, THE IKESIAN PEOPLE’S VENGEFUL SPIRIT, THE HEAVENS THEMSELVES! I’VE BECOME AS ONE WITH MY BEAST SELF, AND BY MY AUTHORITY OVER MYSELF, I NOW USURP EVERY OUNCE OF STRENGTH THAT I YET POSSESS…”

Madness Led by the Hands
‘Great, no… splendid. It was for naught.’ ‘Naught? Depends. If your desire is to send an army of killers our family’s way, yes indeed. If it’s plain survival you seek, then no.’ ‘They don’t coexist?’ ‘What… don’t tell me you’re still all groggy from the fall. Perhaps in novels, but real life is much tougher–––many more times a drag than anyone can possibly imagine. If dusty history is not a reliable teacher for you, then the pandemic surely took that place. At least that one has the advantage you needn’t be literate to savvy how reality always trumps imagination.’ ‘Whatever you say, whatever you say. So… what now?’ ‘Now? Isn’t it obvious? Now we shall survive. And live a good life.’ ‘Ohh… pretty much everything here has something against this little weird wish of ours. Might you consider?’ ‘Then pretty much everything here is a goner.’ ‘Hm, I don’t like the sound of that. Too much trouble, you see. I’d prefer laying low somewhere safe.’ ‘…nobody told you it’s mutually exclusive, no–––or did you forget about that too?’ ‘Fine, then I wish my future enemies all the best.’ ‘They are undeserving of your pity.’ ‘Of course not. That unlucky bunch won’t ever comprehend the reason behind their demise. Just let me smoke in peace and offer my condolence in advance.’ ‘Idem, let me study alchemy, unobstructed by all, if possible. This also includes you. By the way, are you sure you smoke to offer condolences? It seems like an excuse to me.’ ‘I-it is none. Plain truth, you see?’ ‘Seriously, why did I even ask...?’

Art of Mortality
New Synopsis after chapter 56: Long long ago, there was a mortal who despised the gods and envied the immortals. Why do the mortals have to die when the gods wish them to? Why do worlds have to perish when the gods say so? Why do only immortals get to live forever, why not mortals like him? As his family, friends, and his loved one died, he lamented. He wailed, he cried. He cursed the immortals, blasphemed the gods, spat at the heavens. But he was just a mere mortal. His curses were pointless, his blasphemous words were useless, and his spits only returned back to fall on his face. At last, he thought, enough was enough, he would definitely do something about it. He decided that it was time for the multiverse to know what a mortal can do. He was the first mortal to cultivate. Eventually, after a long struggle, he killed the Immortals, enslaved the Gods, and shattered the heavens. He reshaped the multiverse and rewrote his fate. In the end, he reincarnated as he decided upon a grand scheme, a scheme to rule 'All and Always'. He came up with the concept of what is known today as 'Paragon'. And with this, all of reality, 'All and Always', was finally reforming, according to a Mortal's Wish. Synopsis (Old): In the vast and complex multiverse, what can a mortal accomplish? In the grand scheme of things, what can a mortal change? In truth, what is a mortal, and what is mortality? Being mortal is being ordinary, the same as being trash, or so says The World. "No, mortality is an art, and a true mortal is a grand artist. Being the root of all, a mortal can become anything.", says a young mortal boy. Meet Edward Alexander, a mortal boy walking the path against gods and immortals, fighting to the end to rewrite his destiny, and change the grand scheme of things. Can he really change the grand scheme of things? Or maybe he himself is the Grand Schemer? To know the answer, follow Edward Alexnder on his journey to demonstrate the Art of Mortality.*******

Statless
Summary Alexander Weiss, an intelligent and slightly unusual man, always dreamt of becoming a mage. Sadly, reality is harsh and even his best efforts never allowed him to achieve his goal during his lifetime... or did they? One has to be careful what they wish for, lest they might live to see it fulfilled. Description Follow Alex, a man whose pursuit of magic could not even be stopped by his non-magical reality, going as far as to create it himself, only to encounter an unsurmountable obstacle shortly before achieving his lifes goal, denying him all access to these powers. His journey will take him through a miraculous world, full of wonders, magic and manic beasts trying to devour him! He will learn much about this world during his adventures, exploring individual aspects of the System and the various monsters that came from it... or did they? Strong points What you'll get from this novel is the following (read with overly enthusiastic salesman-voice) : • An ending! I'll complete it, no matter what. Well, not "no matter what", but as long as I don't unexpectedly end, this novel won't either! • Good grammar! Might not be perfect, but it's definitely good enough to not detract from the story in the slightest. I'll also fix any reported mistakes as soon as possible, be they grammatical, syntactical or just inconsistencies. • No plot-armor! Or plot-weapons! Or plot-... potions? And no plot-holes! If you see some, it's most likely information that is being witheld for future revelations! But in the (hopefully) very unlikely case of such a vile beast being encountered, please inform me immediately and I'll see to slaying it without grace! (Translation: If you see plot-holes, tell me and I'll fix them) • Logic! [Hidden : Spoilers][Hidden : More Spoilers] [Moved to Chapter [Hidden Spoiler]'s Author's Note] Marvelous, I know! • Blue Boxes! And maybe something more! • Sensible retroactive edits! Not to be confused with radioactive edits! You'll not have to re-read previous chapters, even if they get some major edits. If they were to receive new information, I'll add that very information to the newly released chapters too, in a reasonable way. • Realism! Shocking, I know! Especially considering the tag related to that and the point about "Logic!". This also means that the story will be... well, realistically depicting a pretty messed up world. Don't expect bunnies... at least not cute ones. • Relatively faster paced! No long and boring descriptions of irrelevant stuff. There will be some longer descriptions about important things, but that's gonna be necessary world- and/or character-building! • Short action! Might not be a plus for some, but you won't have to look at a whole (or, god forbit, multiple) chapter describing a fight against the same enemy... • Strategy and hard progression! It's a dog-eat-dog world! No grinding/power-creep! If you're up against three enemies of your level at once, you've already lost! • Understanding! It will be mostly about discovering the wonders of this new world and how it became like that, all while trying to survive. So there will be enough action nonetheless! • Humor! Sometimes dark, sometimes light, always at the worst moment! • Constructive critics, welcome! Destructive critics, nope... I can handle criticism though, so don't go easy on me! Just make sure it's really a mistake when complaining about something. • Will add more in the future! If I can think of more stuff...
