《The Reject (COMPLETED)》Chapter 42: Where's Rowan?

"You're awake!" Said a woman in the nurse's uniform.

Willow stared at her in a daze, unable to process anything.

The nurse calmly walked over to Willow and pressed the bell beside her. "How are you feeling?"

Willow tried to reply, but her throat felt too dry.

Realising that Willow couldn't talk, the nurse grinned. "I'm sorry, you must be shocked, waking up in a hospital isn't something that happens every other day."

Willow tried nodding but her neck felt too stiff. She wondered why she couldn't do anything, it felt as if she had been paralysed for a while now.

"What's the last thing you remember?" The nurse asked as she

Last thing? She was sure that just a few minutes ago she was talking to her father and the goddess, but she tried to recall where she was a couple hours ago, and she perfectly remembered that she had been kidnapped and Lark had rescued and before Lark had taken her to meet her father, Rowan had also come to find her.

Willow narrowed her eyes as she stared at the nurse as if she was throwing some bad pickup lines at her. What was she up to?

"Are you perhaps craving for blood."

Willow choked at that. Could she have by mistake been taken to a mental asylum? The nurse must have gone crazy after spending a while with the patients. Willow felt fear grip her heart, maybe the nurse was out for her blood?

Schooling her expression, Willow said indifferently, "Why would I crave for blood?" She regained her voice, even though talking felt hard, Willow didn't want to have her blood drank by a crazy nurse, who was probably a Vampire.

The nurse smiled. "Looks like you're healed."

Willow stared at the nurse with question mark in her eyes.

"Well you see, this might seem a bit shocking to you," said the nurse. "But you've been in a coma for almost a month."

Willow's eyes widened. A month? Then did that mean that she was in a coma all this while and her father and the goddess were just a figment of her imagination? Or could this be a dream? But both the times had felt so real, she couldn't accept it.

"Yes, we were trying to undo the effects of the vampire blood that you had consumed, even though we weren't sure of what the results would be, it seemed to have worked."

Willow shut her eyes. She still couldn't process the fact that all that has been her own imagination. Then what about what she had seen? Rowan, Triple and Hunter?

"Vampire blood?" Said Willow. She remembered something similar that Lark and the goddess had said. "Is it gone now?"

"Seems like it." Nodded the nurse, then she suddenly said. "Oh my, I was so excited that I forgot to call the Royal witch!"

The nurse rushed out without giving Willow any time to respond. Royal Witch? Was she a sorcerer?

The Witch rushed in a few minutes followed by the nurse. She stared at Willow, incredulously, as if she couldn't believe that Willow was completely fine. "How do you feel?"

"I feel like I'm having a very bad hangover." Willow replied honestly. "Can I have some water?"

"Yeah of course, as long as you aren't craving for blood." Said the Witch, confusing Willow further about what had previously happened when she was at the palace. She gestured the nurse to help Willow.

"Thanks." Said Willow as she was made to sit on the hospital bed and was given a water bottle.

"I never expected the spell to work so fine."

"You weren't sure that it would work?" Asked Willow who had quenched her thirst.

"Well," the Witch pursed her lips, but then she suddenly started squinting at Willow. Willow felt uneasy, as she was being scrutinised. "What's that?"

Willow raised her brow.

"That on your neck. It looks like a tattoo—a mark of sort, I'm sure it wasn't there in the morning."

Willow touched her neck, even though she couldn't see herself, she felt it, the Moon's Mark, which was given to her by the Goddess. But she still asked to make sure, "Does it look like a crescent shaped moon?"

The Witch nodded, dumbfounded.

Willow sighed in relief, that meant that she hadn't imagined everything while she was in a coma right? So her father must still be alive, and he would also meet her soon. But then she recalled what the moon goddess had shown her. "Where's Row—" Willow paused as she remembered that the Witch might probably not know who Rowan was. "My family, where are they?"

"I think it's time for your friend to be visiting you." Said the nurse as she checked the clock.

As if on cue the door to her room opened. Melody who was walking into the room, froze. "Willow? You're up?" Melody gasped.

"Mel!" Willow felt tears pool in her eyes when she remembered how Melody was killed by Hunter.

"Willow's awake?" Came the voice of JR, who walked up behind Melody.

Melody rushed towards Willow and hugged her, nearly putting her back into a vegetative state.

"The patient is still not completely healed." Said the nurse, who was standing beside Willow. But Willow felt that her body was healing pretty fine, because she was sure if one was bedridden for a month, they won't be able to move for a long time or talk, but Willow could do it perfectly.

"I'm sorry." Said Melody sheepishly, as she pulled back and did a once over at Willow. "How do you feel?"

"Like rainbows and glitter." Said Willow, smiling sarcastically.

The Witch who seemed to be dazed for the whole minute suddenly jumped. "Excuse me." She side hurriedly and rushed out of the room.

"What happened?" Willow asked.

The nurse shrugged. "Since she said that your fine, I'll also be leaving." She smiled before walking after the Witch.

Melody sat on the bed Willow was lying on and JR took the chair beside her bed.

"Good to see that you're awake." Said JR.

"Good to see you too." Willow grinned, even though she felt like she saw them at school, two days ago. Willow looked at both of them and pursed her lips. "But you have to tell me, where's mom and Rowan? Where am I?"

"Your mom, we didn't tell her about you."

"But haven't I been here for a month?"

Melody nodded. "Rowan glamoured her into thinking that you were living with a distant, non existent aunt."

Willow frowned. "But that's my mother, you can't use glamour on her."

"Well, we didn't really have any other option, you could have had turned into a Vampire any moment, she wouldn't have been able to handle it."

Willow sighed, she still felt disappointed, even though she knew it wasn't their fault.

Melody was silent for a long time. "We are currently at the pack hospital, since this is the safest one in this town. Rowan had the Royal Witch come here to heal you, even though the odds were against us, you would have turned into a Vampire, but it seems like the Witch saved you just in time." Melody smiled.

"Where's Rowan?"

"Rowan?" Melody stuttered. "He's busy, you know he just turned eighteen, since he's the Crown Prince, it must be quite hectic for him."

Willow frowned feeling uneasy, she felt like something was wrong. "Mel—"

The door opened once again, the Witch walked back in. "I found it!"

Melody exhaled, as if she was holding her breath for a long time. It didn't go unnoticed by Willow, but she didn't probe further.

"What did you find?" Asked JR, turning around in his seat.

"The mark."

Melody and JR furrowed their eyebrows, their action in sync. They simultaneously turned to Willow, as if to ask her about it, when they noticed the Mark on Willow's neck.

"What's that?" Melody leaned in. "When did you get a tattoo?"

"That's not a tattoo." Said the Witch as she smoothed her hair back into her bun, which had probably disheveled because she ran back and forth, though she didn't look like she was out of breath. "It's the mark of the moon."

"The mark of the—" JR stopped midway, his eyes widening in realisation.

Melody still looked confused as she looked at everyone. "What is it?"

"It's the mark of the Moon, which can only be carried by the descendants of the Goddess."

"You mean to say that Willow is—?" Melody's mouth opened in shock, Willow could feel how she was feeling, she had been in the same state.

Willow nodded.

"Oh my god, this is unbelievable." Melody exclaimed. "I still need some time to process it in."

"But it seems like the mark is incomplete." Said the Witch.

JR nodded. "The moon's Mark has a crescent shaped moon with a star inside it."

"That," said Willow. "The goddess said that it would complete when I meet my soulmate."

"Ah!" The Witch nodded. "Right."

The Witch informed Willow that she would be allowed to leave once she was stable, which would take at least two days at most.

Willow was about to sleep, since she felt tired, after Melody and JR left, promising to visit early the next day. But then the door opened once again, Willow raised her head, expectantly, waiting for Rowan, but to her dismay–and horror–it was Hunter who was visiting her.

Willow frowned. "What are you doing here?"

"This is my territory."

Willow recalled Melody telling her that her condition was so bad that she couldn't be moved elsewhere, hence she had to stay in the werewolves pack hospital, which was the safest for her, had she turned into a Vampire.

"But this is my room, for now, so you should leave." Willow glared at Hunter, recalling everything she had previously seen.

"I'll break it off with Triple. I'll do it, so that we can be together, I'm willing to give you a chance."

"You're unbelievable."

"I'm unbelievable?" Hunter frowned. "At least you should be thankful that I'm doing this for you."

"Thankful?" Willow spat the word. "Thank for what exactly? Thankful that you broke off our mate bond because of your pride, regardless of weather I live or die? Thankful that you couldn't keep your thing to yourself, almost killing me in the process? Or should I be thankful because you made all your friends bully me? Why should I be thankful to you? Tell me."

"You knew?" Hunter stepped back, shocked.

Willow continued glaring at him. She didn't know when, but now that she looked at Hunter, she didn't hate him, she felt nothing as she continued staring at Hunter, as if he didn't matter to her, at all. She understood why she felt this way. It must be because her feelings for him were never genuine, it had just been the bond and whatever that was left of it after Hunter and Triple had made the witch, Danny, break the bond.

"Of course."

"But we're still mates, if you felt something for me and everything else, then that proves that we're still mates. I didn't think things through, but now I know, so let's get together." Hunter gritted.

"Mates?" Willow scoffed. "I'd rather kill myself then be with you. We might have been mates for a day, but that was it, you broke it," Willow didn't mention that it was originally the Goddess who broke it, she didn't think Hunter should know about it. "We're mates no more, you should be clear on that."

"Are you saying that because of that guy, Rowan?" Hunter growled.

Willow leaned back and shut her eyes, unwilling to listen to whatever bullshit Hunter was going to spew.

Hunter scoffed. "If it's about him then tell me where he is right now? If he actually cared about you, why isn't he here right now?"

Willow's body tensed, but she still kept her eyes shut.

"I'm guessing no one told you that he hasn't visited you for three weeks already. Apparently he turned eighteen three weeks ago, and Vampires find their mates when they turn eighteen, so what do you think is the reason that he hasn't bothered visiting you all these days?"
