《True Love [BxB] (Unedited)》Chapter 9

Jeon Jungkook POV
I sat across the table from Taehyung and watched him while he sorted out the files I had given him. Well tried to as he clearly had no idea what he was doing.
What on earth was my father thinking?
"Is this how it's supposed to look?" He asked as he showed me the file that was clearly put the wrong way.
I looked at him for a second and looked back down at the documents I was looking at not bothering to give him an answer since it was quite obvious that he had done it wrong yet again.
He had been my supposed "bodyguard" for almost a month now and yet it seemed as though he knew nothing and learnt nothing.
One thing that I might say had improved, was the fact that he had stopped wearing those ridiculous hoodies and skinny jeans and now wore tailored suits. He even dyed his hair back to black and got rid of that annoying blond hair.
"You know it wouldn't kill you to say a few words once in while you know." He said as he shrugged and smirked at me.
There he went again, as if he had a death wish.
No one, and I mean no one, ever spoke so carefree to me like that. Everyone always had their guard up when they talked to me, almost as if they were waiting for me to snap and blow their heads off, and as much as Taehyung annoyed the shit out of me, I liked that about him.
I liked how he could talk to me and treat me like he did with everyone else. Like I was person too and not just his master.
But I knew all too well, where that feeling was going. I knew it was the seed that would grow into something stronger and I could never let that happen again. Not after I worked so hard to heal myself, and sometimes, even after all these months, it still haunts me like it had happened just yesterday.
I shook my head of the thoughts and looked down at the document once more, double checking and triple checking it over and over again. There was no mistaking it.
There were fourteen shipments missing.
We normally shipped around thousands of shipments every month, so it was possible for the fourteen to go missing and not raise any red flags, however they don't call me The Sleepless Fledgling for nothing.

Nothing seeps past me.
I narrowed my eyes and mentally did the calculations one more time in my head before I looked up when I heard a knock at my door.
"You asked for me?" Seokjin said at the door and smiled at me.
But that smile wasn't for me. God knows the man never ever smiled at anything at all and didn't have to be a damn genius to know he was smiling at Taehyung.
"Hey Jin! What are you doing here?" Taehyung asked with a big smile on his face as he looked up and greeted Seokjin by the door.
"Nothing much. Just checking in on you and making sure you're still alive" he replied with a wink to which Taehyung rolled his eyes and smiled.
"You're ready?" He asked me to which I nodded and made my way out of the office before telling Taehyung what he needed to do with the files.
"How do you know Taehyung?" I asked as we walked down the hallway to the meeting room.
"We met at the cafe he worked at before. Why?"
"Just curious." I replied and shrugged as I opened the door and walked in, immediately sitting down at the head of the table with Seokjin at my right side.
"I detect faint jealousy in that statement." He said as he smirked to which I raised my eyebrow at him.
"Jealous my ass. You can have him. Just make sure he doesn't screw up on his job then we won't have a problem." I replied and watched him narrow his eyes at me, as if he didn't believe a word I was saying.
"I'm serious. I don't give a shit." I emphasized, hoping he would get the picture.
"Whatever you say." He said as he shrugged and switched into his killer mode like the bipolar ass he was, when the rest of the members walked into the room and sat down at their assigned seats.
I waited until everyone was seated before I stood up and cleared my throat gaining absolute silence in the room. I leaned against the table and made eye contact with each of them, making sure to display my killer attitude so they'd know I was in no mood for bullshit.
I might be just twenty years old, but that did not mean that I was some push over and I would not hesitate to blow someone's head off whoever the fuck they might be, should they attempt to cross me.

"I've called this meeting for one reason alone. Fourteen shipments have disappeared and frankly speaking, it all seems too convenient." I began as I crossed my arms over my chest and stared each member up and down, scanning them completely.
I would definitely call it my sixth sense. I could tell when someone was lying almost instantly. I didn't know what it was that gave them away, but it was almost like it was written all over their faces.
"Almost immediately after we had our last meeting, the shipments go missing, now what does that say? A few billion's worth of drugs, gone in an instant. " I continued as I slowly walked around the table taking in the atmosphere of the room.
"Whoever orchestrated it, knew exactly when and where the shipments were coming from. It took them exactly forty seconds to steal them and I would say, it would have taken a mastermind to pull that off, which brought me to my next question." I said as I stopped dead in my tracks and faced one of the members who recently joined, claiming that he needed a strong alliance with us.
"How did they know we changed our route?" I asked him and watched him narrow his eyes at me, keeping his composure.
"What are you insinuating?" He asked as he leaned back in his seat completely calm.
"Nothing at all. It's hardly called insinuating when you're certain of the facts now is it?" I asked as I reached into the holster of my suit and took out my gun.
I heard a gasp coming from almost all the members there but I honestly couldn't give a fuck about what they thought about me.
"You see, I found it very suspicious that you suddenly needed to join forces with us on the claim that you had a war going on with the Yakuza. Why do you think I made the deal with them in the first place?" I asked him and watched his eyes widen at the revelation.
"See, you've been a pain in my ass since the very beginning. Everyone in the underworld knows that you're only loyal to the party with the money. I knew you'd follow my shipments like the gold digger you are. You just made my job so much easier." I said as I brought the gun to his forehead and pulled the trigger without thinking about it and blew a hole right through his head.
"Let this serve as a warning" I said to the rest as I placed my gun back in the holster and turned to face the others who all looked back at me shocked.
"Don't fuck with me"
I walked out of the meeting room and walked back to my office where Taehyung was still struggling to sort out the files I had given him and jumped from his seat when I opened the door.
"I know I was supposed to be done but I honestly have no idea why I need to sort these out when they're dated all the way back to the nineteen hundreds." He asked and looked up at me with that confused expression.
"You need to familiarize yourself with the way we do things around here. Read each file as you sort them out and by the time you're done, you should know everything there is to know about The Heartless Dragon" I said as I walked to my seat and picked up my jacket.
I gestured for him to follow me to which he did. We walked out the of the office and down the hallway where Seokjin was typing away on his phone waiting for me.
"Go ahead and get the car" I told Taehyung who nodded and walked ahead.
"What?" I asked Seokjin who was giving me that look again.
"You didn't bring Taehyung to the meeting today. You left him in the office to sort out those files you dug up put of storage. Why?" He asked as we made our way to the basement.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I replied as I pushed the button on the elevator.
"Fine. Keep telling yourself that." He said as he shook his head and walked into the elevator.
I stood there for a second, thinking about the real reason I gave him all the work to do in order to ensure he didn't come to the meeting with us.
I couldn't let him see the monster I was.

Apex Predator
Earth is a fairly small place, but it's all Bath has. It's the only home he's ever known for all of his 500-or-so-million years of life. One day, Bath realized his treasured Earth was being drawn into the next mass extinction ahead of schedule. So, fascinated by the humans and their quick rise to power (after all, setting off a mass extinction is a pretty sizable achievement), what's a nearly all-powerful, somewhat bored, morally ambiguous, savagely violent, shapeshifting alien entity to do other than assume the form of a human and do some front-line investigating? Little did Bath know he would soon stumble upon a mysterious human organization with a gate leading to planets eons away. And that's just the beginning... A story with aliens, intergalactic space travel, mind powers, and an abundance of adventure! Author's note: ON HIATUS! Hello and thank you for reading! Constructive criticism and grammar-policing are both appreciated. Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are complete at 1271 pages! Part 7 is in progress! If you've ever read any other web serials, you might've noticed that authors get better with time (that is, their art or writing improves). Wutosama of Metaworld Chronicles noted that the first 20 chaps are always a mess. This is also the case with Apex Predator. The first two parts (ranging just under 30 chapters, or 161 pages) are absolutely subpar. While I have edited them as of 7-10-18, they require a rewrite, which is currently in the works but not complete. For a sample that gives insight into what the latter ~80% of the story's writing style is like, check out chapter 56. Vote for Apex Predator on Top Web Fiction! The Apex Predator Discord is here.
