《When I'm with You》4

Bennett turned to Razor the moment class ended,"Do you think it'd be a good idea for us to start exploring today?" He asked.
Razor contemplated for a moment before nodding.
Bennett stood up to pack his things before suddenly gasping,"You can come home with me!"
Razor lifted an eyebrow at that.
"I take the bus." Bennett explained, "You can ride with me." He put on his backpack and waited for Razor.
"Is that okay with you?" Bennett asked.
Razor nodded again and Bennett smiled,"Yay!" He grabbed Razor's hand,"Let's go!"

Bennett could hardly contain his excitement as he sat beside Razor on the bus, and the quiet boy could notice.
"Sorry if I'm being too energetic.. I don't really hang out with people my age outside of school." Bennett apologized.
Razor just placed a hand on top of Bennett's to offer him empathy. Razor certainly understood that feeling.
Bennett looked down at their hands on the seat space between the two of them. Razor's hands are a bit bigger than mine..
He observed for a moment before realizing he was staring and turning to look out the window.
Bennett found himself lost in his thoughts when he realized the bus had passed his stop. Oh no. He sprung up from his seat and pulled down the wire to stop the bus.
"Sorry!" Bennett apologized to the angry bus driver, getting off of the bus with Razor and walking home with the boy.
"Alright! This is my house. I live with my dads." He spoke, unlocking the front door.
"Benny?"
"Dad! I brought a someone home!"
"You brought someone to the house?" Bennett could hear the intrigue in his father's voice as he approached the front entrance.

Razor waved at the male softly.
"Wow! What's your name?"
"His name is Razor." Bennett spoke for the male."He doesn't talk."
"Oh alright. So what are you two planning on doing?"
"We have a class project to work on so we have to do a bit of exploring." Bennett explained.
"Ohh interesting."
"We'll be back in an hour or two dad!" Bennett turned to Razor,"Come! I wanna show you my room."
Bennett pulled Razor up the stairs to his bedroom.
"This is my room." He explained, opening the door.
Razor looked around the room, he wasn't sure what he was expecting but the room was nice. Smells like Bennett.
"We can leave our bags here for now." Bennett spoke,"I can use my phone for pictures."
Razor placed his bag down beside Bennett's messy desk. He could see little drawings on the corner of homework assignments and broken pencil lead scattered all over it.
"Okay let's go." Bennett spoke, leading Razor out of the house.
Razor walked beside Bennett down the sidewalk as the boy used his GPS. "We shouldn't go too far." Bennett mumbled. Razor on the other hand was enjoying the warm weather as they walked.
After watching the scenery for a moment, Razor turned to observe Bennett, who was intensely focused on his phone and almost tripped on a crack in the sidewalk.
Razor grabbed the boy by the waist and pulled him back before pointing at the sidewalk.
Bennett looked down,"Oh a crack. Oops."
Razor held Bennett for a moment before letting him go with a blush.
"Thanks." Bennett spoke, clearly not noticing.
Razor looked down at his hands before looking up at Bennett. Small.
"Razor! C'mon!"
Razor sped up his pace to follow Bennett to a pond surrounded by lots of greenery. It was a good start for their exploration.

Razor pointed to a flower. "Oh! A calla lilly." Bennett got closer and smelled it. "It has such a nice scent."
Razor sat down in the grass and watched Bennett take pictures of everything.
"You know.. the sound of all this nature is really calming. I kinda want to have a picnic here." Bennett suggested.
Razor thought about sitting in the grassy plains with Bennett and enjoying a nice quiet meal together.
It would be enjoyable.
I want to do it.
Bennett stretched and went to join Razor to just sit calmly. "Razor." Bennett called, getting the boy's attention.
"Um.. Can I call you my friend?"
Razor nodded.
"Really?!"
Razor nodded again.
Bennett broke out into a blinding smile. "Okay! But um.. let me know if I ever over step boundaries."
Razor just patted Bennett's hair. So soft.
"Oh also, do you have a phone?" Bennett asked.
Razor took his phone out of his pocket and opened the contacts app before handing it to Bennett. "Okay I'll give you my number and then you call me so I can save yours."
Razor did as Bennett asked so the boy could save his number.
"Oh wait. You need a picture." Bennett looked up at Razor shyly, "Can I take a picture of you?"
The quiet boy sighed before nodding and allowing Bennett to do as he pleased. "Aw. I wish you'd smile."
Razor just shrugged as an apology before taking a picture of Bennett when he wasn't looking.
"Hey! I didn't get to prepare for the picture."
I like this one. Razor thought.
"Redo it~!" Bennett whined.
Razor took another picture of Bennett smiling and making a peace sign. "Okay that's better."
Both of them are nice.
"Oh woah, it's been a while. We should head back."
Razor stood up and held a hand out for Bennett to grab. "Thank you." He grabbed the boy's outstretched hand and stood up, dusting grass off of his clothes.
"Do you wanna stay for dinner? Or do you have to go home?"
Razor texted Bennett.
"Oh. Home.. That's okay!" Bennett spoke,"We can meet up another time."
Razor nodded and the two males walked home together.
"Dad we're back!"
"Is your friend staying for dinner?" asked from the TV room.
"No. But maybe another time." Bennett responded, leading Razor to his room one more time to grab his bag.
"Are you taking the bus home?" Bennett asked, receiving a nod from Razor.
"Oh okay. I'll walk you to the stop."
Razor shook his head.
"It's okay! I want to go for a walk anyways!"
Razor stared at Bennett for a moment before shrugging and letting the boy accompany him to the bus stop.
"I'll see you tomorrow!" Bennett spoke when he saw the bus coming.
Razor nodded, waving to Bennett and getting on the bus.
The moment it drove away Bennett found himself secretly celebrating. I have a friend.
He was about to run home, but realized it would be safer if he walked.
Razor is my friend. Bennett smiled.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
