《Shades Of Red | RaNnett》Part 4: Alone, and Forever Alone

'Is he ok? Is he mad at me? Is he still worried about me? Is he still looking for me? This is all my fault, isn't it?' Even if I did try to leave my bed, I'd feel a thousand needles poke through my skin, and just collapse again. *sigh* If only... If only I could just tell him... then I could stop worrying. But, Razor's not the best with people or language, how would he even find me here? He probably came to the city already but left soon after. My eyelids... they're getting... heavier...
I went to Wolvendom to get some red wolfhooks (yes, this is just like the hangout) for Bennett's wounds when I heard something. I was scared because Wolvendom has a lot of wolves, so I hid behind the nearest bushes. While I watched from behind the leaves, I saw a figure that Bennett had been so worried about for so long, "RAZOR!" I heard. That was my line, but I guess someone stole it from me.
I turned my head to look at the voice that yelled his name, and to my surprise, it was the Wolf of the North, Lupus Boreas! I never thought I'd see one of the four winds with my own eyes, but now that I think about it, this is the Wolf of the North, so of course, he would be in Wolvendom.
The wolf boy stepped into the arena that the Wolf of the North was in. "RAZOR, I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO NEVER GO BACK TO THE CITY!" "Razor... sorry..." "YOU'VE CROSS THE LINES TOO MANY TIMES, RAZOR! HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN EVERYTHING I'VE TAUGHT YOU? HOW UNGRATEFUL CAN YOU HUMANS BE!" No reply. "RAZOR! I RAISED YOU, AND YOU'RE GOING TO JUST RUN AWAY TO THE CITY? FOR WHAT? WHY BETRAY ME?" A few minutes had passed, and Lupus Boreas didn't realize Razor was gone. "RAZOR! FINE! IF YOU'RE GONNA GO BACK TO YOUR HUMANS THEN YOU'RE OFFICIALLY KICKED OUT OF THE PACK!"

"Barbara?" "Hey Razor." 'Barbara... Bennett see Barbara when hurt, maybe she know where Bennett.' "Do Barbara know where Bennett?" "Well, I do. But you might not like how he looks when you see him." "Razor not mind, just tell Razor where Bennett!" "Ok, ok, fine. Come with me then." Razor follow Barbara to city. She nice, she help people when see and make Razor help.
"Barbara?" "Hmm?" "Why Barbara at Wolvendom?" "Oh, I was getting these," Barbara take red wolfhook, show Razor, "These have a better healing effect than the normal purple ones, so I grabbed a few." "These for?" "No one, in particular, just anyone who needs it really." Razor smell lie, Razor no question. Barbara nice, lie, good reason.
~~Time Skip~~
Cathedral... Bennett... hurt? Razor follow Barbara, show Razor where Bennett, saw Bennett, eyes close, very hurt, Barbara not let Razor see Bennett, Razor sad, but Barbara say "Just let us take care of him, he'll be fine with us around. We'll do our best to help him." Gave Razor hope.
Razor left, let Barbara work. Can't go back, HE angry. Razor stay in city, not fit in...
Razor fault, Bennett hurt. Now Bennett not want see Razor anymore, all Razor fault. Now Razor no place go... Razor alone... all alone...

The Eternal Vigil
The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized
