One day you will ask me which is more important? My heart or yours? I will say mine and you will ask what about your life? Mine or yours? I will say mine again. As you walk away, it's a shame that you didn't know you have my heart and you are my life.

I heard the front door slam open but I paid no attention, probably one of my brothers. I had been in my office all day just filling out paperwork, it's been hell. My office door was pushed open. Oakleys came in her blonde curls tied in a loose bun and her school uniform still on. She had stuff in her hand as she places them on my desk, taking a seat. "Elijah gave these to me." She mumbles softly. I grab one seeing that they are invites to the Scarlet dinners. I sigh, I hated these dinners. My father dragged me to them even when I wasn't the leader.
"Milo or Reed?" I ask her motioning to the other invite, she shrugs.
"I would feel safer with my brother there if you don't mind?" She says hesitantly, I nod gently.
"Sure, Your father coming?" I ask making her face go hard.
"No, he's not." She mumbles.
"Why not Oakley," I ask.
"He doesn't need to be there." She snaps the anger in her voice rising. I nodded not wanting to push her.
"Have you talked to him about everything?" I ask causing her to frown softly.
"No, when the time comes I will." She whispers. I say a quick ok as I get back to work. I just wished that she had talked to him...
I notice Oakley staring off into space causing the room to be quiet. She seemed stressed and I was worried. When I found out about her brother I was scared for her. She was already in danger just being Milo's sister but now she is a leader. Her life is no longer hers.
After about 30 minutes, I finish all my work for today and Oakley is still spacing off. "Angel.." I say causing her to flinch softly.
"Hm?" She asks confused about what's happening.
"I want to show you something," I tell her standing up, reaching to grab her hand pulling her up. She nods following me out of the room. I walk to the basement, I turn on the lights causing the room to light up. I hear Oakley suck in a breath. I took her to our gun room. Guns hanged from every part of the walls with a shooting range in the middle. "You need to learn to protect yourself.." I whisper as she takes in breaths.
"I.." I heard her try to say. I don't think she likes guns, with a sigh I grab a simple hand gun-walking over to the shooting range. I motion for Oakley to come over. She walks over slowly.

"Do you want to try or me show you?" I ask her as she stares at the target.
"You can." She says quietly. I point the gun at the target. Squeezing the trigger 3 times. 2 to the chest, one to the head. I learned to shoot when I was 10, my dad made all of us learn.
I can feel Oakley flinch at the loud noise. I look down at her.
"Here," I say handing her the gun. She loosely holds it causing me to fix her hands. Her hands were giving off heat as I let her aim. She shot the gun but hit no were near the target. I chuckled as she sighed frustrated. She tries again a couple of times, missing all.
"This is pointless!" She yells dropping the gun down on the edge of a table.
"I didn't learn in a day." I sigh with a smirk. "And you need to learn." I grab the gun handing it back to her. I step behind her, putting my hands around hers. Helping her aim. I can feel how tense she is, her body yet was still warm against mine. "Relax.." I whisper in her ear. I put my finger of hers on the trigger. "Breath in.." I whisper pushing her finger firing the gun. "Breath out," I mumble removing my arm, seeing that it hit the target. "See you did it." I hum happily as her face was slightly red.
"Is this dinner dangerous?" She asks unsure, fiddling with her blonde strand of hair yet again.
"Yes and No. It's very stressful as you can easily sneak weapons into the dinner but no one has died, yet." I explain. "Still lots of injuries come from this."
"What!" She shouts, "What type of injuries!" She says loudly. I look down at her.
"Two people got shot in the chest about four years back, my dad's second in command got shot in his back, Oliver's dad got shot in the hand, Elijah actually got stabbed in the arm with a knife by his date that he brought last time actually." I chuckle remember. Oakleys's mouth hung open slightly.
"God." I heard her whisper.
"It's fine," I smile down at her. "Getting shot and stabbed isn't as bad as you think. You probably wouldn't remember getting shot, I did but it wasn't even that bad." I smirk at her. "You probably would faint.."
"You've been shot!" She yells her eyes going wide. "And no, I'll be screaming bloody murder" She giggles. Still, the thought of her body with blood covering her scares me.
"Yep," I laugh. "One in the shoulder and one in the arm." Her eyes light up.
"Can I see?" She asks almost too quietly to hear. I nod pulling my sleeve up showing her the scar. It was clean in and out but it did leave a nasty scar from the stitches. I feel her soft fingers trace over it gently. I then pull my shirt's caller down showing the long scar, that bullet didn't go all the way through so they had to dig it out. I feel her gaze on it for a minute before she looks up at me. I watch as she takes her lip between her teeth softly, I could tell she was think something.

"You want to try anything else in here.." I say changing the subject pulling away from her a little. She nods looking around the room.
We work on stuff for about an hour until we feel good enough for today. As me and her walk upstairs we see my mom and dad. I smile at them sitting on the couch together. I want a love like theirs.
"Oakley!" My mother yells happily as she gets up rushing to the girl next to me. "How are you darling?" I hear her ask.
"I'm good," She smiles. "You Ms.Ronan?"
"Splendid!" My mother says clapping her hands together, before linking her arms with Oakley. She walks her to the couch placing her in between my mom and father. I could see her discomfort.
"Oakley right?" My father grunts rudely sticking out his hand to shake. Her small hands shake it as best she can. I sit down on the couch across from them.
I motion for Oakley to come sit next to me. She quickly gets up causing my mom to laugh softly. She sits down closely near me, I place my arm behind her back on the couch.
I turn to see Reed and Ramsey walk in. Ramsey smiles as he sees Oakley and Reed smirks at me. "Ley!" Ramsey yells causing my father to glare at him harshly.
"Hi, Ramsey.." She smiles deeply at him.
I hear a loud crash come from another room causing everyone's heads to snap.
"Reed come, Dad stay here," I say as I stand up. They both nod as I feel for my gun in my waistline. I send Oakley a reassuring smile as I leave the room with my brother following the sound. It came from our wine room that's in the kitchen, I push the door open taking out my gun. Reed does the same. I flick on the light causing me to sigh in relief as it's just Milo.
I wine bottle laying smashed next to him as he is slumped over drunk. His eyes were red and puffy. "Milo?" I say as his head looks at us. He looked lost, he took a sip out of the brandy bottle he was holding.
"Whoa, looks like you have had enough.." I heard Reed say as he pulls the bottle out of his hands. Milo wines trying to stand up knocking down two bottles, I wince as they fall.
"Why are you drinking?" I say.
"I got some news." He slurs. "And a photo.." He says clutching his fist together.
"What news?"
"Here," He says handing me his phone. I see that it's unlocked and on a massage from an unknown person. I click on the photo they sent, closing my eyes in disgust. In the photo was their dad, he had been stabbed and shot in the head. In his blood was a warning to back down.
He was dead.
I quickly hand the phone to Reed as I pull Milo into a comforting hug. My mind rushed to Oakley and my heart aches at what she is about to find out. I pull away telling Reed to get a maid and this cleaned up. He nods sending Milo a sad glance leaving the room. I pull Milo up and practically drag him to a guest bedroom. "Milo I'm going to get your sister.." I tell him as he lays on his side on the bed.
"la sua assenza sarà la cosa più difficile che dovrò affrontare ogni giorno.." I hear him cry out in pain. I don't speak Italian that well so I didn't understand.
{t-his absence will be the most difficult thing I will face every day}
I walked slowly downstairs to the room that everyone was in, I walked in and looked at Oakley. Reed appears next to me. "Reed tell them what happened after we leave," I whisper as I walk over to Oakley grabbing her hand softly making her follow me. We walk in silence as I look over to see her face confused, we stop outside the room Milo is in. I turn to face her.
"Oakley," I whisper not knowing the right words. "Your brother is going to tell you something, it's going to hurt you.." I say looking at her in pain. "But if you need me I'm here anytime. I don't care if it's two in the morning, I don't care if I'm in the most important meeting I'm here for you, angel" I say with honesty.
"You're scaring me.." I hear her say, her voice on edge. I look down not wanting to meet her eyes. I open the door to reveal her brother who is now laying on his face. She runs over to him checking to see if she's alive. He sits up pulling her into a hug. He starts talking and I leave the room. It's not my place. I walk downstairs to see everybody with pity in their eyes.
She is an orphan now, but the worst part was that her father didn't just die he was murdered...

Never, not even when I was a little kid. It was like only I could see them. I loved my add-ons, even if no one else believed me. She promised to throw me out, so I guess technically she has already done so by tossing my things at me, giving me an address to my new home and just enough money for a cab to take me there, and then slamming the door in my face.
