"CONGRATULATIONS BANGTAN HIGH FOR WINNING THIS YEAR'S FOOTBALL GAME"
*REWIND*
"I'm sorry Kook but I'm afraid Taehyung won't make it to the game"
*REWIND!!!*
Jeongguk walked over to the bleachers where Taehyung was sitting.
"Baby. You look cute in a skirt", he teased as he sat down next to Taehyung.
Taehyung blushed. "Stop teasing me!"
"I'm not. I'm just saying facts", Jeongguk said, leaning in for a kiss.
This of course took Taehyung by surprise for a bit but kissed back none the less.
Soon, Taehyung found himself making out with Jeongguk in the bleachers while sitting on his lap.
"What the- Jimin. Cover your precious eyes", Yoongi said, putting his hands over his boyfriend's eyes.
"We didn't sign up for free porn you know?!", Yoongi lightly yelled, interrupting the soon to be couple from going any further.
"Why can't I do anything with my boy-" *cough* "I mean Tae... I always get called out by you when I do stuff with him while you can kiss, hug or make out with your boyfriend and no one says shit", Jeongguk said, low key mad. Taehyung just laughed it off. Jeongguk was being too cute.
"It is what it is my dude", Yoongi replied.
"Uh.. babe... can you remove your hands now?", Jimin awkwardly laughed.
"Sorry, Chim", Yoongi apologized and quickly removed his hands from Jimin's face. Jimin smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Let's go. See you tomorrow, Tae. Kook", Jimin said all giddy, intertwining his hand with Yoongi's and dragging him away.
"Jimin seemed eager to leave", Jeongguk pointed out.
Taehyung then whispered something in Jeongguk's ear making his eyes go wide. A devilish smile appearing on his face not long after.
"JIMIN YOU BETTER TELL ME ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE TOMORROW MORNING!", Jeongguk yelled, loud enough for everyone including the YoonMin couple to hear which were not that far. Jimin was for sure blushing even though they couldn't see.
"Wait. Isn't that illegal? Yoongi is eighteen. Jimin is still seventeen", Jeongguk said, only now realizing. Taehyung shrugged.
"Jimin is almost eighteen. Plus, the government doesn't need to know", Taehyung laughed.
"You're so naughty", Jeongguk teased.
"Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not. I'll go change, okay? Then, we can go home and have some time for ourselves~", Taehyung said, smirking at the end.
"Tae- you did not just-
KIM TAEHYUNG GET BACK HERE!"
"So, Jimin. How was it?", Jeongguk asked teasingly.
Jimin smacked him in the head with his notebook as a result.
"OW! That fucking hurt!", Jeongguk groaned in pain.
"Unless you want another one coming for ya, don't ask such questions that don't concern you", Jimin said smiling.
"You little-"
"Tae! Over here. I have to talk to you about practice", Jimin said, running over to Taehyung.
"What a bitch", Jeongguk said, glaring at Jimin; his head still hurting.
All of a sudden, he got another hit on the head but with a frying pan.
"What the f-"
"No cursing", Jin said, appearing out of nowhere.
"How dare you hit me over that?", Jeongguk asked offended.
"Don't look at me. Look at him", Jin said, pointing somewhere.
Jeongguk looked over to the direction Jin was pointing at and saw Yoongi swinging Jin's frying pan effortlessly.
"I get it now. He hit me cause I cursed at his boyfriend. Well, guess what. Min Yoongi has got another thing coming for him", Jeongguk said, chasing the other out to the field.
"Jin, darling. You actually let Yoongi run away with your weapon?", Namjoon asked surprised.

"Just this once"

"Listen up. Tomorrow's the game and we have to perform our best", Taehyung told the rest of the cheerleaders.
"Don't worry, Captain! We'll do our best. We'll win this year's game again for sure", Jennie spoke for the rest of the girls.
"Yeah, especially cause we have such hardworking cheerleaders and football players", another girl spoke while the rest just agreed.
"Good spirits. Everyone. Get in positions. We start practicing now", Jimin said, getting into position.
———
"I'm so sorry, Tae! I didn't mean to. It was an accident", Jennie cried, feeling guilty.
"Don't cry, Jenn. It's okay. Mistakes happen, don't they? I'll just take the uniform home and wash the chocolate stain off. It'll be good and new by tomorrow", Taehyung said reassuringly.
"Really?", Jennie asked, still feeling bad about it.
"Yeah, don't worry. It's fine. You can head home. Jeongguk is waiting for me. I'll go get changed", Taehyung said, smiling at Jennie.
"Oh, alright. Once again, I'm truly sorry", Jennie apologized, doing a ninety degree bow and leaving in a rush due to her mom calling her.
Taehyung sighed once she left.
'Hopefully, the stain will come off with water or something', he thought before changing back to his regular clothes.
———
"Hey, baby", Jeongguk greeted excitedly while hugging Taehyung who came out of the changing room.
"Hey, Koo. You seem excited", Taehyung smiled, enjoying the sight of a very happy Jeongguk.
"I am", Jeongguk stated as he pecked Taehyung's lips.
"Why i-is that?", Taehyung asked, a bit flustered from the little kiss.
"The game. Although, I'm a bit nervous", Jeongguk said, scratching the back of his head.
"You? Nervous? You're always so confident in every game of the year? What happened this time? Is the team you'll play against really good?", Taehyung asked.
"Oh... uh. I guess you could say that", Jeongguk lied, forgetting for a moment it was a surprise.
"I know you guys will win. Don't be ner-"
"Excuse me. Jeongguk?", someone tapped Jeongguk's shoulder from the back.
The duo turned around and saw a boy with cheeks flushed.
"Yes?", Jeongguk answered.
"Rumor's been going around that you're no longer attracted to girls but but boys instead", the boy said.
"I wouldn't call it a lie", Taehyung teased.
"Tae, shut up", Jeongguk laughed. "Anyway, you were saying?"
"Please go out with me. I like you!", the guy confessed.
"Wait. Hold up. Can we switch the language? You like me? Not Tae?", Jeongguk said, not sure he heard right. It's the first time a guy confessed to him. Other than Taehyung of course.
"I don't like your best friend. I like you, Jeon Jeongguk", the boy said once more.
"Uh. How should I say this? You see-"
"Best friend who?", Taehyung interrupted Jeongguk.
"Uh... you?", the boy pointed at Taehyung.
"Are you new to this school or are you fucking dense to your surround-", Taehyung asked angrily but was interrupted by Jeongguk.
"Like I was trying to say earlier. Look. I don't mean to sound rude but I don't want to accept your feelings. I'm taken and I'm very content with my relationship", Jeongguk said seriously.
"Wait, really? Who?"
Jeongguk wrapped an arm around Taehyung's waist and pulled him towards himself.
"Kim Taehyung", Jeongguk said proudly.
"Oh... This is... awkward. I'm so sorry. I'll leave now", the boy said in a rush. Leaving quickly.
"That was indeed awkward", Jeongguk laughed nervously but Taehyung wasn't saying anything.
"Tae?"
"Am I.. really your boyfriend?", Taehyung asked a bit surprised.
Jeongguk looked at Taehyung and could see the happiness and hope in his eyes. He felt bad for what he was gonna say but he had to.

'Just hold on a little longer', he thought.
"No. You're not. Sorry. I just didn't know what to say", Jeongguk said, feeling bad on the inside.
Taehyung looked quite troubled with the response but smiled at the end.
"It's fine. Maybe not now but one day. Am I right?", Taehyung said, showing Jeongguk his boxy smile.
Jeongguk felt like crying. Taehyung was so understanding that he didn't think he deserved him.
"Koo? Wh-"
Taehyung didn't get the chance to speak as Jeongguk had brought him in for a passionate kiss.
'Yeah, baby. One day.... One day I'll ask you and I'll make sure to make it the best day of your life. Just hang on a bit longer, okay?'
———
"I told you they were dating!", Lisa said to Hoseok. Basically, the two paid a random student to 'confess' to Jeongguk and see their reaction.
"No. Well, I don't know. Something tells me they aren't but are gonna be", Hoseok said.
"We'll see"
"Wait. Maybe we should have gotten a prettier boy", Hoseok said only to be hit on the head by Lisa.
"OW!"
"Shut the fuck up. Pretty boy or not, Jeongguk will reject anybody for Taehyung. Can't you see it's love, you horse?!"
"If that's love, then what I have with my Sprite must be because we're fated soulmates"
*WHACK*
"Are you all ready?!", Jennie and Jimin asked the cheerleaders. The girls just yelled in excitement while giving each other high fives.
"Then go get dressed! Hurry. We don't have much time", Taehyung told them. It was at that moment that he realized he had forgotten to wash the really big stain off.
He rushed into the guy's changing room where he and Jimin changed and found his uniform in one of the seats. Obviously, still dirty.
'Fuck', he mentally cursed at himself.
He grabbed the uniform and ran out the changing room that was outside in the field. Heading towards the janitor's closet that was located inside the building. He thought that surely, there could be some products he could use to wipe the stain off completely.
"Tae, where are you going?! TAE!!", Jimin called out but it a was no use as Taehyung didn't hear him and just kept running. He grabbed his phone and called Taehyung. In the end, he heard Taehyung's phone ring next to him.
"THAT IDIOT!"
"Oh, hey Jeongguk. What brings you here?", Jennie asked.
"I came to see Taehyung before the game. You know, like a good luck charm, sort of thing", Jeongguk said very happy.
"That's so cu-"
"I'm sorry Kook but I'm afraid Taehyung won't make it to the game", Jimin interrupted, looking away.
"What?! What do you mean he won't make it to the game?!", Jeongguk asked desperately.
"I don't know. I saw him earlier run out to who knows where!", Jimin answered.
"Are you pulling a joke on me?", Jeongguk asked, not liking the words that came out of Jimin's mouth.
"Does it look like I'm joking?!", Jimin questioned angrily.
"Why would-"
"Jeongguk. It's time to head out to the football field. Let's go. Coach is waiting", Minho said. The coach had asked him to bring Jeongguk back.
"No. Give me a-"
"Jeongguk! The game is about to start. Save your business for after the game. Let's go. Coach won't be happy", Minho interrupted in all seriousness, grabbing Jeongguk by the arm and dragging him to where the other teammates are.
"Wait.. I- Jimin please. Find him! I don't care if he doesn't show up. Just make sure he's safe. Ple-"
"JEONGGUK! The game is starting in two minutes! What do you think you're doing wondering around?!", the coach scolded him, unhappy with Jeongguk's actions.
Jeongguk only stayed quiet.
"That was unprofessional of me. I apologize. I just want you to take this seriously. Now Team! Get in your places! Knock 'em dead", the coach said and the team did just that. Jeongguk, following behind unmotivated.
"JEONGGUK! HE'S SAFE DON'T WORRY!", Jimin called out from afar to not bring Jeongguk down. The people there were giving Jimin weird glances. His words relieved Jeongguk but it still upset him that Taehyung left. Why did he leave? Is he embarrassed to perform in front of so many? Does he not think this game is important? Did something come up last minute? These are the type of thoughts Jeongguk was having and it wasn't helping at all.
"Well, well. If it isn't Jeon Jeongguk. We meet again. Let's see who'll score victory this year", someone in front said way too cocky. Jeongguk looked up and saw one of the people he least wanted to see in his life.
"Captain Dongjin"
"Fucking finally!", Taehyung yelled frustratedly but relieved. The stain had finally been removed.
"Wait. What time is it? I feel like I've been here for an hour!", he said to himself and went to reach out for his phone in his pocket but found nothing.
'I LEFT IT?!'
"There's no fucking clock in the janitor's room. Wait, classes have one", he said, dashing towards a random class only to realize the doors are locked.
"Stupid Taehyung! Of course the doors are locked. It's night"
"Um hello? What are you doing here?", a custodian asked from behind out of nowhere, startling Taehyung.
"Oh! Sorry ma'am. I had to clean something. Do you know what time it is?!", Taehyung said impatiently.
"It's... seven past twenty. Well almost", she replied looking at her watch.
When hearing that, Taehyung ran faster than at any point in his life. That means that the first game out of the four had been played already. This all happened due to his carelessness and he felt horrible.
He made it outside to the field where the crowd was sitting and saw the scores on a board. His school was losing.
'No way... Jeongguk, Yoongi and the rest are such good players. Why would they-', his thoughts were interrupted when he saw the projector for the people at the back at the crowd. Jeongguk was tackled down and hard. It looked painful and Taehyung wanted to cry. Despite that hit, Jeongguk got up and kept playing. When watching him play from afar, he noticed that he's seen Jeongguk play much better than this. It's as if he didn't have motivation to play making him slack off.
*
"How do you know you guys won't lose? You're too confident in yourself. It's fine, though. I like that about you", Taehyung said, holding hands with Jeongguk.
"I won't lose. Ever. As long as you're watching and cheering me on, there's no way I could lose"
"You're so stupid...", Taehyung muttered to himself.
'I still have time to change. Wait no! I can't. I can't risk it. I'd waste time. I'm going out there whether I look good or not', he thought, dropping his uniform on the floor and running to the side field where the cheerleaders were performing but instead of joining them, he got as closest as he can and yelled from the top of his lungs...
"Jeongguk! The hell is your problem? Play correctly. We're losing because of you", Yoongi told him.
"I don't know myself as to why I'm slacking off", he said. Well, he does. He knows he said he didn't care if Taehyung didn't show up as long as he's safe but a part of him still wished Taehyung was there to watch him play. Stupid, right? He let someone he's in love with affect his playing. He feels so unprofessional for letting something like this ruin his reputation but he can't help it. He's worried yet also wishes Taehyung was there. All these thoughts are messing him up and he doesn't know what to do. He just... wants to give up playing. Again, how utterly stupid. If Taehyung isn't there wishing him luck, his motivation disappears. When his motivation disappears, he can't play and would rather lose. When he loses, he won't get the chance to ask Taehyung out in front of everyone like he had wanted. Why? Because Taehyung isn't there. So what's the point? At that exact same moment when he takes off his helmet and decides to quit in front of so many people, something sparks within him.
"JEON JEONGGUK!!"
Jeongguk turned his head to where he heard his name being called. He knows that voice very well. His eyes started to scan the crowd. Soon, looking towards where the cheerleaders were and what he sees is Kim Taehyung calling his name over and over while dressed in casual clothing but that didn't matter to him. He was just emotionally happy that Taehyung was there watching him.
"YOU BETTER NOT QUIT AND MAKE THE TEAM LOSE OR YOU'LL REGRET IT!!"
Jeongguk smiled to himself.
'Of course. It's Taehyung we're talking about. Can't believe I thought he wouldn't come. How foolish of me'
'Then again....'
He put the helmet back on and went in for the game with full on confidence.
'It doesn't matter. He's here. That's all I ever wanted'

The Simulacrum
"He who fights with harem tropes should see to it that he himself does not become a harem protagonist. And if you gaze for long into a narrative, the narrative gazes also into you." --- Friedrich Nietzsche (probably?) How would you react if one day you woke up inside an environment running on tropes and clichés? For allegedly average high-schooler Leonard Dunning, this question became quite relevant when one day he woke up in a pristine city on a strange island in the middle of the Atlantic, without any memories, surrounded by classmates who are barely more than characterless placeholders, and with a classic indecisive harem protagonist and his impossibly beautiful love interests for friends. That would be hard to deal with already, yet his investigation into the tropes governing the world, trying to avoid harem shenanigans, and his odd blend of outside-context knowledge, unique abilities, and a penchant for causing trouble wherever he goes ends up dragging him into the center of the action anyway. Disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek, slice of life romantic comedy, with occasional sprinkles of combat and mystery to spice things up. Please do not expect a straight up deconstruction beyond some in-universe meta-commentary by the characters.
