"Darryl?!" Clay stopped walking.

"Clay?" Darryl looked up from the sidewalk.

"I haven't seen you in so fucking long." He grinned as he sat down next to Darryl.

Darryl smiled, "You look so grown up now!"

Clay chuckled, "I don't feel any different than before." He looked down at Darryl's fingers which held a blunt, "Mind if I?"

"Yeah," He was about to hand it to Clay, but stopped.

"Hm? Don't tell me you're gonna care about the legal age now." Clay shook his head.

"No, no, no," Darryl took another blunt out of his backpack. He handed it to Clay, "You get your own now!"

Clay's mouth made an 'O' shape. "You didn't have to!" His eyes lit up.

"Think of this as a present, I mean I haven't seen you in what, 3, 4 years? Puberty does wonders!" Darryl chuckled.

Clay put the blunt up to his mouth as Darryl happily lit it.

"Though Clay....I have noticed."

"Hm?" Clay breathed out his first hit.

"Aren't you supposed to be in school?" Darryl clicked his tongue in disproval.

Clay chuckled, "Yeah.... I actually haven't went in almost a month."

"I probably should tell you that you should go back to school and not become like me, but I have no regrets in my life." Darryl took a hit, "Though, it's not the best life, I don't mind it. But may I ask why though?"

"I'm running away," Clay breathed in the smoke. "I'm running away from my feelings. I realize that I have them for her but I don't want to confront them. I'm running away from them. I'd rather put it off than tell her. I'm hoping this feeling will die if I wait long enough.

"Is it working?" Darryl leaned his head back on the fence.

"No..." Clay smiled at himself, somehow finding comedy in how pitiful he was.

"You're afraid of yourself? You don't want to hurt her?" Darryl took another hit.

Clay took a hit before replying, "Yeah...."

"This will solve all your problems kid," Darryl chuckled as he took a hit.

Clay laughed.

Clay spotted her about 10 feet away from her.

"Y/n?" He mumbled under his breath, "Shit, I should've picked a better place."
