"I've been emotional as hell for no reason, I'm only twelve weeks. Like is this shit normal?" I was venting to Kennedy as she was doing my makeup.
She laughed, "bitch, I don't know. Why you say that? You been crying or real mad and shit?"
"Have I!? Mink and I were watching a show, and the guy did some shady ass shit, had me pissed like it was me, then turned around and did some sweet ass shit for the girl and I busted into tears. Mink looked at me like I was crazy as hell. And I felt crazy as hell."
Kennedy laughed, "cause your ass is crazy. Google it. It's probably normal. Your hormones probably all out of balance and stuff because of the baby."
"Okay, I'm done." she said as she backed up allowing me to look at myself, "Vinnie asked about you." She continued as she looked me over in the mirror.
I turned and looked at her, "did he?" Vinnie and I had slowly mutually fell off. We texted for a little bit after the date we went on, but then just stopped altogether.
"Yeah, he asked how you were." I nodded my head as I got up to plug in my flat iron.
"When did you see him?" I asked as I turned the flat iron on, adjusting it to the temperature I wanted.
"He stopped by Jon's the other night."
I looked at her with a smile on my face, "y'all might as well date with how much time you two spend together."
She smiled, turning her head. "It's coming, trust me."
"I'm here for it, but wait," I thought for a second, "you need to stop dealing Chris." I stated matter of factly. She rolled her eyes, "we ain't fucking or nothing Aria, we just cool as hell."
I rolled my eyes back. "Does Jon know you hanging with a nigga you use to fuck regularly?" She crossed her arms and leaned again the door, "okay Landon number two."
I looked at her like she was stupid for calling me that before I responded. "Don't ever call me that. But I'm happy someone checking your ass on it."
She rolled her eyes again, if she kept on they were going to get stuck. "Well he doesn't know. Because it's not relevant, dropping that subject, what happen with you and Vinnie though?"
I let it go as I shrugged my shoulders, "nothing really, we just slowly stopped talking, nothing personal."
"Well, tell me about this Jason guy you getting all cute for." She said with a smile. I chuckled as I placed my hand a little above the flat iron to check the heat, "he was my neighbor growing up, when I went home after I found out I was pregnant we just kind of linked up, and kind of been texting and talking a little here and there. Nothing serious."
"That's cute," she said with a smile, "he know you pregnant?" I picked up the flat iron, using it to put some curls in my hair. "No."
"Well are you going to tell him?"
I sighed, "I mean, yeah. He has a three year old daughter himself."
"Oh, y'all trying to be on some blended family shit."
"Who even said we were going to be together? We're just going to get food." Kennedy gave me a yeah right look, "you getting real dolled up for someone you just trying to be friends with. You don't get cute for me like that." I laughed, she had a point.

I sighed as I looked down at my ringing phone seeing Landon's name across the screen. I was driving, heading to meet Jason and I didn't feel like talking to Landon. "You chose to keep this baby which means you chose to have to deal with him." I said to myself before answering the phone. "Hello?"
"Wassup? What are you doing?" Landon asked.
"Headed out, wassup?" I questioned, wanting him to get to the point of this call. "To where?" I rolled my eyes, "Landon, what do you want?"
"Where are you going?" He asked again. "Why?" I asked with slight attitude. "Because I need you to come to my parents house." I quickly twisted up my face. "What? Why? Right now?"
"So you can meet them, my pops been wanting to meet you for a minute and if you ain't busy." He responded.
"Well I am, can we do it tomorrow?"
He sighed, "nahh man, they going out of town tomorrow." I looked down at the GPS to make sure I was going the right way. "Okay, then can we just do it when they get back?"
"They want to meet you tonight." What was their rush?
"Well, I can't do tonight." I said with slight attitude.
"Why not?" I rolled my eyes, "because I have plans."
He sucked his teeth, "plans to do what? You're pregnant."
"And you say that as if I still can't do things."
"What plans you got on a Friday night Aria? Kennedy going out, and I know you ain't doing that."
He was killing me, "I'm going out to eat."
"Alright, then I can meet you at a restaurant with them."
"No!" I yelled quickly.
"Why not?" he asked with attitude.
"Because I'm meeting someone there, like I already have plans Landon. You can't expect me to drop everything I'm doing just to meet your parents tonight as if we can't do it another day."
"Who you meeting?"
"None of your business."
He laughed, "you meeting a nigga?"
I looked down at my phone, making sure I was still going the correct way again, I didn't have time to miss my exit messing with him. "Bye Landon."
"Oh, so you are? He know you carrying my seed?"
"Bye!" I repeated as I ended the call, only for him to call right back. "Landon, what?" He was blowing me at this point.
"You whole live going on dates with niggas like you not pregnant with my child?"
I chuckled, "I mean, you whole live fucking another girl like I ain't carrying your child right?"
He laughed, "Aria, if you were letting me fuck you, you wouldn't have to even worry about that."
I set myself up for that one, I rolled my eyes, wishing he could see it. "Are you done?" I asked as I took the exit the GPS was saying to.
He laughed, "yeah man, I hope that nigga wack as fuck."
"Alright, goodbye."
"Nahh, wait." He quickly spoke.
"What?" I asked as I pulled up to a red light.
"We need to figure out when you meeting my folks." We could definitely have this conversation at another time. "When do they come back?" I questioned just trying to get this conversation to an end
"I don't know, let's just do tomorrow." What the fuck. "I thought you just said they were leaving tomorrow." I was definitely giving full attitude at this point.

"They are." He was blowing me, "Landon."
"They leaving tomorrow night, so we can do like breakfast or something." He quickly answered.
I rolled my eyes, "okay, what time?"
"Uh, I don't know," "aye, Ma!" he yelled. "She can't come tonight, " I could hear her responding but didn't know what she was saying, "she got a date."
"Landon!" I yelled, I can't believe he said that shit, he was already giving them a reason to look at me a type of way.
He was laughing, "what?" The shit wasn't funny. "Hold on," he said before I could respond, I could hear him talking to his parents as I could only really catch his responses.
"Aria, is eleven good?" he questioned focusing his attention back on me.
"Why would you say that shit?" I asked completely disregarding his question as I was still stuck on the fact he told them I was going on a date.
He started laughing, "cause you are going on a date."
"You want them to hate me?" I asked.
He laughed again, "Aria, it's not like you my girl. You acting like I just told her you were cheating on me, damn."
"That shit look bad Landon, and you know it."
He laughed, "look man, eleven good or not?"
I rolled my eyes, "yeah, whatever. That's fine."
He continued laughing, "aw, you mad?"
"Bye," I said with attitude as I hung up the phone.
I pulled up to the restaurant trying to shake off the attitude Landon caused me to have before going inside to meet Jason.
--
"How was the date?" Kennedy asked as she was raiding my refrigerator. She had popped up, saying she passing by my apartments so she stopped by.
"It was cool," I said as I walked towards my bathroom to put some light make up on my face. Landon said he would be in here in fifteen minutes to get me so we could meet up with his parents.
"Just cool?" she asked as she walked in the bathroom with a handful of grapes, popping one in her mouth.
I nodded my head, "yeah"
"Then he ain't the one" she said as she threw another grape in her mouth.
I laughed, "what? That doesn't even make sense."
"All you said was it was cool, like it wasn't all that."
"Whatever," I started applying some mascara as my phone went off. Kennedy looked down at it and grabbed it then walked out the bathroom. I knew it was Landon, she acted so buddy buddy with him and it got on my nerves. But she hung with Chris so I guess she was bound to see him, but whose friend was she? Cause it was seeming like his more than mines sometimes.
I could hear her in the living room talking to him as I finished up, I rolled my eyes as I went and grabbed my shoes out of my room. I decided to wear something simple but cute, I put on a long light blue sundress and some sandals. The weather here was always hot, no matter the season.
"He said he's down the street." Kennedy yelled, and then started laughing at something he said. I walked into my living room seeing her cheesing with my phone to her ear. I took the phone and hung up as I sat down and put my shoes on.
"What the fuck Aria?" she questioned with a small smile sitting on her face.
"Y'all not friends." I acknowledged as my phone started ringing again, I knew it was Landon so I ignored it.
"He's probably here idiot," Kennedy said as she got up, grabbing her keys and making her way towards the door, leaving before I could even gather myself.
I grabbed my clutch and my keys and walked out not too long after her. I locked my door and made my way down the stairs, I saw her sitting in his passenger seat with the door open talking to him. Yeah, they were real cool, cool as hell. I lowkey didn't like it, but I knew Kennedy and I knew it wasn't no shady shit so I should it off.
As I walked up she stood up, "y'all have fun," she said with a big smile "and tell mom and pops I said hey!" she said looking at Landon. She knew his parents? I tilted my head and gave her a little side eye she just looked at me smiling and shaking her head as she rolled her eyes, "bye y'all" she said as she made her way to her car. She was holding out on some things with me, I wasn't going to let it slide. We were most definitely going to talk about this new found friendship she had with Landon.
I got in his car and put my seat belt on as he started to put the address into his phone's GPS. "Hey," he said turning and looking at me with a smile on his face.
I nodded my head and responded dryly, "wassup."
He laughed and shook his head as he clicked start on the route, "man, I don't know what your problem is but you better kill that shit before we get with my parents."
I crossed my arms, turning to look at him. He turned and looked at me again laughing and shaking his head. "What's your problem man?"
"I don't have one," I started, "but you and Kennedy real buddy buddy."
He continued laughing, "that's what your attitude about? You jealous?"
This caused me to laugh, "nigga, hell no."
He smiled, reaching his hand out to touch my chin, I smacked it away. "Don't be jealous baby, you the one having my seed."
I rolled my eyes, wanting to vomit thinking about it. Lately he'd been real chipper and loved to remind me that I was pregnant with his child. It was annoying, so now instead of him being upset about it, it's like he was rejoicing about it. It was weird. However, our relationship between one another was improving. I could joke with him a little now, that's improvement right?
"Don't remind me," I said as I turned and looked out the window.
He smiled, "you know how many girls would love to be you?"
"None, if they were actually in my position." I said as I looked at him with a fake smile. The smile he had on his face the whole time dropped. I laughed then quickly tried to recover, he really wasn't that bad.
The rest of the ride we vibed to the music having slight conversation here and there.
"You ready?" he asked as parked the car.
"As I'll ever be," I said as I unclicked my seatbelt.
This was the moment of truth.
