《Not So Normal - A Corbyn Besson FanFic》Chapter - Backyard Adventures

We all reunited at the end of the day and walked out of school together to get our bikes, Corbyn took a little longer than us as we went to get his little sister as well. Once he came back with Ashley we all hopped on our bikes and started our trip home.
Zach, Jonah and I drop off our bikes in our garage, change our clothes quickly and walk over to Lily's house, we all decided on the way back that we should go and explore the forests beyond our backyards. My house is right next to Lily's so we are the first ones at her's, the others following shortly behind. I walk into her house, greeting Mr and Mrs Anderson and quickly grabbing a couple bags to put stuff in. We all then walk straight through the house to the backyard.
Their backyard is a similar size to mine, a patio and pool at the front and the back filled with grass and trees, and that is right where we're going, into the tree. We didn't know how far we would travel or how long we'd be gone so we brought a couple small backpacks containing water, snacks and swimsuits. Off we went, adventuring into the Hawaiian forests.
As we started walking through the trees, I was at the back and the seven in front of me were in the midst of what seemed like another stupid converstation about a ridiculous conspirasy theory. Meanwhile I was taking in our surroundings, all around us were trees, probably over 100 feet tall. The forest is brimming with the noises of its inhabitants, whatever they may be. The noises that stick out to me are the light, happy chirps of the birds. I've always loved the sounds of birds, they sound so happy, no matter whether they're in a storm or in the scorching sun, there's just something about them which always sounds so happy.
We've been walking for about 10 minutes now and I'm so caught up in the environment that I don't hear Jonah and Jordyn shouting for me to watch out. By the time I process what they're saying, I'm already face first in the dirt from tripping over a decently sized log. I hear the seven of them burst into a fit of laughter as I start laughing myself. I feel a pair of hands either said of me as Zach and Corbyn lift me up by my arms. "Did you not hear us shouting?" Jordyn speaks between laughs.

"Well obviously not otherwise I wouldn't have fallen face first in the dirt!" I retort, unable to stop myself from laughing as I wipe the dry dirt off my face. "I was too caught up in our beautiful surroundings that maybe you guys should appreciate more," I say, sassily placing my hands on my hips. The others hear what I say and actually take a second to look around at all the wild-life around us.
"It is beautiful," Jack murmurs, now also caught up in admiring the forest just as I was. I smile and walk forward slightly, realising we had reached a river. Lily takes a step next to me
"We should follow it upstream, there could possibly be a waterfall at the top of it," she says, making me jump slightly, not realising she was there. The others come next to us and agree as they turn to start walking upstream. BeforeI follow them, I tie a piece of coloured fabric around the closest tree to me as a marker so we don't get lost.
"Good idea Gingey... good idea," Lily mumbles the last part of her sentence as I catch up to the others.
We all get a little bit impatient after walking for about 20 minutes, until we start to hear the faint, heavy sound of waterfalling. As if we were all thinking the same thing, we all look at each other with excited looks on our faces and start jogging towards the sound. We jog for a couple minutes until we reach a glorious, big waterfall, surrounded by a small lake. We all stare at it in awe. It looks like something out of a movie, because of the angle the sunlight is hitting the water, there was a small, but bright rainbow formed at the top of the waterfall. It's beautiful. The water's crystal clear and the whole area was secluded with trees for miles around. There looks to be a small clearing of grass on top of the waterfall which I point out the others. Daniel suggests sitting up there to have a water and snack break, which we all gladly agree to.

There's, thankfully, a clear, not too steep, grassy slope up to the top of the waterfall, it's probably roughly 60-70 feet tall and the view's amazing from the top. You can see above the trees but you can see through them down the river and the lake below us. At the top of the waterfall the river continues to flow upstream leading to somewhere further in the forest, but for now, we sit down on the rather large area of perfectly green grass at the top of the waterfall.
We take off our backpacks and take out our snacks and sit there, eating and once again, having pointless conversation. It's moments like this that make me almost believe that my life isn't real, like it's just some sort of made up story.
I'm stripped from my thoughts as I hear the sound of beautiful voices, singing softly together.
I look up and see Zach, Jonah, Daniel, Corbyn and Jack all singing together. As I focus more on their voices, I hear that they're singing 'Make you feel my love' by Adele. Since when could they sing so amazingly? They sound so coordinated, have they planned this before? I have so many questions right now but it looks like I'll have to wait until their little performance is over. I mean, I'll happily wait, I don't think I can get enough of their voices already, they sound amazing together.
The boys finish their song and the girls and I stare at them in awe. Corbyn looks at me smiling at them and puts his head down blushing.
"That," Lily starts.
"Was," Jordyn continues.
"AMAZING!!" I finish, excessively loud.
All the boys look at us, slightly confused but start laughing. "Did you guys practice that or something? Like you seemed so coordinated," I say, still astonished by their flawless performance.
"No, I mean I just heard Jack start singing and I guess we all just joined in," Daniel chuckles mid-sentence. All the boys nod, agreeing with Daniel's statement.
"You guys are so good! You could start a band or something," Jordyn chimes in.
"Aha yeah, why don't we make a band?" Jonah laughs, not taking what Jordyn said seriously.
"Ooooo, what are we gonna be called?" Corbyn joins in, continuing to make a joke of the situation.
Daniel, Jack and Zach look at each other and speak simultaneously, "How about why don't we?" Now all the boys were in a fit of laughter while us girls were just rolling our eyes. I swear they all have the same brain
"She was serious you know," Lily expresses. The boys stop laughing, looking at us and noticing that we're being serious and start laughing again. We roll our eyes, yet again.
"As if we would be able to actually get anywhere," Zach scoffs.
"With voices like that you could be world famous!" I retort. Apparently it was now the boys' turn to roll their eyes. After arguing back and forth about starting a band, we blow off the idea and decide to get changed into our swimsuits and hop in the lake.

Apex Predator
Earth is a fairly small place, but it's all Bath has. It's the only home he's ever known for all of his 500-or-so-million years of life. One day, Bath realized his treasured Earth was being drawn into the next mass extinction ahead of schedule. So, fascinated by the humans and their quick rise to power (after all, setting off a mass extinction is a pretty sizable achievement), what's a nearly all-powerful, somewhat bored, morally ambiguous, savagely violent, shapeshifting alien entity to do other than assume the form of a human and do some front-line investigating? Little did Bath know he would soon stumble upon a mysterious human organization with a gate leading to planets eons away. And that's just the beginning... A story with aliens, intergalactic space travel, mind powers, and an abundance of adventure! Author's note: ON HIATUS! Hello and thank you for reading! Constructive criticism and grammar-policing are both appreciated. Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are complete at 1271 pages! Part 7 is in progress! If you've ever read any other web serials, you might've noticed that authors get better with time (that is, their art or writing improves). Wutosama of Metaworld Chronicles noted that the first 20 chaps are always a mess. This is also the case with Apex Predator. The first two parts (ranging just under 30 chapters, or 161 pages) are absolutely subpar. While I have edited them as of 7-10-18, they require a rewrite, which is currently in the works but not complete. For a sample that gives insight into what the latter ~80% of the story's writing style is like, check out chapter 56. Vote for Apex Predator on Top Web Fiction! The Apex Predator Discord is here. Cover: original work done by me, the author, caerulex.

Edge of the Storm
A thousand years after narrowly escaping extinction, humanity still fights for survival on the fringe of space. On the alien, hostile world of Deana, Taro is tasked with dealing a mortal blow to an enemy that has pursued the last dregs of the human species across light years. From the Wild Summer hyper-carrier, Taro must strike out at an enemy that seems like it would stop at absolutely nothing to ensure humanity's time in the universe draws to an end. The key to it all is Valerie, a human bred super-weapon, and the discovery she makes aboard the enemy craft Delirium. What to expect from Edge of the Storm: You will find here a slow burning story that is punctured by moments of high flying action, intense mecha battles, gory hand-to-hand combat, tough decisions and sacrifices. What you won't find are black and white morals, harems, cute girls, big boobs, or anything else that might bring me troves of readers. You have been warned. Update schedule: Saturdays (and maybe Wednesdays).

The Plan
An infinite world couldn’t be real, but if it was, well this would happen. Imagine a world that isn’t covered in water, but an endless atmosphere. Plates of land, named “islands”, float and drift almost aimlessly. There is no sun, stars, roof, or floor; just boundless air in every direction. Light is generated from the movement of air flow. Magical and mystical powers keep islands floating and the world full of fresh entropy. Some of these floating islands drift upwards or downwards or any combination of volatile or patterned velocities. Air flow also follows the same characteristics of islands, which generates the light and heat. In a world with no horizon, the different inhabitants struggle. Beings calling them selves deities across the endless space are countless. If you were to fall off an island, you would inevitably hit another island; if you didn’t die from old age first. Many inhabitants don’t know the land further than their own eye sight or town they grew up in. Almost all inhabitants of islands have supernatural abilities, ranging in ability and skill. Magical abilities are kept individually; and mystical powers are borrowed. Islands float because the land is enchanted by either a magical or mystical crystal. Magical islands are known for vertical variance, while mystical islands are known for vertical stability. The islands rotate around focal points, known as 'the center'. There are many 'the center', but no one knows this yet... Warning: Tagged Mature 18+ for Strong Language, Gore, Violence, and sexual scenes. Google Drive (Click here to open new window) WIP/spoilers
