《demon slayer ; dejected》[ Sanemi x Reader ]

"Mama? What is papa doing?"
The little girl's mother's eyes widen as she screams, "I told you to run away! Go!"
Her mother kicks her husband in the stomach barely leaving a scratch, "I'll be alright! Just go, hurry!" The older woman cries out as she continues to struggle in the man's grasp.
The little girl tilts her head in confusion, "Alright? I'll be waiting for you two outside." She says with a smile plastered on her face, as she departs from the room.
Standing outside of her home, the girl thinks to herself. 'I wonder if they're having another quarrel.'
Suddenly another one of those weird creatures jumps onto the girl, but she just stares at it in confusion.
"Can I help you, mister?" She asks bluntly.
The demon laughs to himself, tightening the grip on the girl's shoulders. "What an amusing kid you are, acting all nice to me won't save you!"
She blinks a few times, "Save me from what exactly?"
Then in the blink of an eye, the creature's head falls off. And a weird looking man pushes him off of the girl.
The white-haired male helps her stand up, "Where are your parents? And why are you just standing here like nothings going on? Look around, your whole village is burning!"
She simply smiles, "I'm sorry, but my mama told me not to talk to strangers. No matter how nice they look!"
"Actually you look kinda scary, mister."
The hashira sighs, grabbing her hand, "You're hopeless." He mutters to himself as they both run out of the now-demolished village.
"So, where are we going?" She asks for the tenth time now. "To the demon slayer corps. Who else would take you in?" He chuckles.
The rest of the walk was silent until they reached the man's house. "Woah! It's so big and bright!" She beamed, looking around the place.
She stared at the mansion in awe, wondering how one so scary looking and rude could have a house like this. It was so bright and kind looking. She was almost ashamed of her own home.

"This place can't be yours!" Her smile was as cheerful and full of wonder as if she just met someone from a fairy tale.
"Nope, it's all mine." The demon slayer answered unfazed by her gorgeous smile.
Entering the mansion, he said, "I'm Sanemi Shinazugawa, and you'll be living with me from here on out." He announced with a cocky grin on his face.
"I'm (Y/N), it's nice to meet you. But my mama is probably looking for me right now." The girl looked at Sanemi, as she began to walk out the door.
"Wait a minute, kid."
She turned around acknowledging his request. "What is it, Mister?"
He let out a long sigh, he was still not used to saying such things, especially to little kids like her. Kids that are clueless about the world...They don't understand that they'll never see their loved ones again.
"You can't go back there, nobody is waiting for you." He stated whilst gazing at the wooden floor.
Sure, such words may be harsh, but it's better than saying that her parents are no more. In his viewpoint at least.
"You don't have to sugarcoat the truth, I may not look like it but I know what was happening back there." She let a low whimper escape, as a stream of tears fell down her cheeks.
"I just didn't wanna believe it...!"
"O-Oi...Then why do you wanna go back there?" Sanemi questioned the orphan.
The girl smiled whilst wiping her tears away. "I'm not entirely sure... But It's okay, you'll take care of me now, right?" She asked, with a glimmer of joy in her eyes.
He gulped, "Yeah, but don't expect too much. I'll be gone most of the time, so you'll have to take care of the mansion." Sanemi said with the same grin he'd always wear.
She clasped her hands together, "alright!"
"Anyway, your room is upstairs. I have to go on another mission now." He spoke as he began to walk out the door.

Suddenly a pair of skinny arms wrapped around his waist. "Oi, what's up with that?" The hashira mustered out.
"I'll be waiting for you!"
He relaxed as a small smile crept upon his scarred face. "Whatever..."
"Oh, by the way, kid. Don't go outside and don't open the door to anyone. The other Hashira might see you."
She let go of Sanemi and tilted her head, "Why can't they see me?" She asked curiously.
He deadpanned at her, "I wouldn't hear the end of it."
The girl smirked to herself. "Alright, go go!" She pushed him out the door and slammed it shut. "This is perfect!"
With that, she ran upstairs to look for her room.
In the evening she saw Sanemi and the other pillars walk into a big building. "Hm? This is my chance!" She laughed evilly, running out if the estate.
A giant door was now in front of her. "They probably made this door so big because Sanemi couldn't get in."
The girl pushed the door open, revealing a long hallway. "Now, which way to go...?" She thought out loud.
She scanned the room with her sharp eyes, inspecting every door there was. Then, her eyes landed on a bigger door than the rest.
"Today must be my lucky day, haha!"
She tiptoed to the huge door, placing her hands neatly on it. "This will surely embarrass Sanemi, haha!" She mutters quietly
"Sanemi!" The orphan shouts out as she pushes the door open, only to see a bunch of scary-looking people staring at her. Sanemi was one of them.
"Do you know this kid, Sanemi?" Giyu asked his fellow ally, whilst looking at the small girl.
"Oh! She must be his secret child! I've heard rumors of him having one!" Shinobu chuckled, clasping her hands together.
"You were the one who started the rumors, Shinobu." Said Rengoku, ending his sentence with a laugh.
"The hell are you doing here, kid?!" The wind pillar yelled out.
"Quiet down all of you, we're in the presence of our master." Said Uzui.
All of them went quiet in milliseconds. "We apologize." Muttered Shinobu, gazing down at the ground.
"It's quite alright, so tell us...Who are you, little girl?" Asked Ubuyashiki.
The girl smiled, "I'm (Y/N) (L/N), it's a pleasure to meet you." She bowed, still smiling graciously.
"And Sanemi, do you know her?"
Sanemi's eyes gazed upon (Y/N), as anger filled them. "Yes, I took her in last night. Her whole village was destroyed, and her parents got killed."
Kagaya stared at the Hashira, as he calmly spoke. "Why didn't you tell us about her? Don't you trust your comrades?"
He snapped his head to meet his master's eyes, "that's not it. I just didn't wish to bother you, is all." Sanemi said, eyes changing from anger to sorrow.
"Actually it was my fault." A quiet voice spoke, "I wanted to embarrass Sanemi in front of his friends. I didn't realize this...meeting was so important." The girl said, her head hanging low.
"I see. Well then, you're more than welcome to stay here with us. We're delighted to have you, (Y/N) (L/N)."
Her eyes beamed with joy. "Thank you!"
---
After the meeting was over she and Sanemi were walking back to the mansion.
"What did I tell you?!
" Cut it out already..."
"The hell is wrong with you?! Do you even realize what you just did?!"
"Yeah yeah, I couldn't care less."
"What'd ya say?!"
"Just shut it already, big guy."
