"Something just didn't feel right..." Lily said as she sat with Jennifer and Owen at the Mosasaurus tank on some of the benches before the attraction was open to the public. "Why the sudden interest in the raptor and T-Rex hunting capabilities?"

Owen shrugged. "I doubt they plan on letting them run loose around here to hunt."

"Maybe it was nothing Lily. We were with some weird people." she said. "Just look at Owen."

"Yeah just look at m- Hey!"

Lily smiled. "Alright, perhaps I was just being paranoid." she said "But Mr. Masrani keeps avoiding my discussion on those babies in the hatchery."

"Well, let's go take your mind off of it for now." Owen said offering his hand.

The raptors were in restraints and halters when Lily and Owen arrived.

"They look so thrilled to see us." Lily said flatly as they approached. Blue was growling baring her teeth.

"Right, not going near you." she said before walking over to Echo. "There you are." she said gently. Echo watched intently as she neared squirming slightly in her halter.

"May I?" she asked lifting her hand.

"Well, she can't do anything about it, but I'd let her sniff you first." Owen told her. Lily offered her hand keeping it low for Echo to see and smell. Echo remained still as her other hand touched lightly to the space in between her eyes. During the entire time, she kept her head slightly turned away to make no direct eye contact with Echo.

"There, there...no need to be so worked up." she whispered to Echo. She trailed over the scar on her face. Echo's eyes closed for a brief moment.

Blue chirped loudly causing the others to chirp as well.

"How are you doing that?" Owen asked her. "Echo is normally never this calm."

"I'm not doing anything." Lily said. "I'm not a threat to her right now. I'm not challenging her, no direct eye contact, I'm standing to her side so she can see me...she's just relaxed right now. I'm calm and she can probably sense that right now through my touch. There's no threat, why should be riled up, it would just be a waste of energy."

"It's kinda like that shark thing, touch a shark on the nose and they're like a toy." he said.

"Well, that's a bit different. A shark breathes when it's moving, it's the only way to get oxygen through it's gills. When you stop them, they're not getting enough oxygen to their brains and thus their body is just basically shutting down partially."

"Oh good, all this time I thought it was pretty adorable, turns out the sharks were in mini comas."

She giggled before removing her hand.

"Try it Delta." she said. "She seems rather upset right now because she's not getting any attention."

He walked over to Delta and copied Lily. Delta seemed to enter a dreamy stupor. He turned to her with a grin.

"You sure you don't want to be a raptor tamer?" he asked.

She shook her head quickly. "They're in restraints right now. You wouldn't find me being this brave otherwise." she said. "The most I've dealt with carnivores is with bones, you know? I'm not a raptor expert by any means." she replied humbly.

"You sure know a lot though."

"Well, I often attended lectures and conferences when I could. I got to meet Dr. Alan Grant once, even though it was briefly."

"You met Alan Grant? He offered so much insight on raptors due to his experiences with them. I have a couple of his books lying around the Bungalow."

Lily nodded. "He's a brilliant man, incredible mind."

"Easy, you're making me jealous here."

She giggled before nudging into him. "Seriously though, most of his theories were proven correct when he experienced them in his...adventures here. Their communication, their intelligence...it opened doors. Of course, people now are completely neglecting the bones of the first dinosaurs because of the dinosaurs here. But we can't just go off of what the dinosaurs do here. It's a controlled environment. They may do the same things they did sixty-five million years ago, but they could be also doing different things."

Owen rested his chin on his hand listening to her as she went on.

"I mean, there were no humans present for the dinosaurs, that's adding a whole new playing piece to the field. I.." she looked over to see him grinning.

"And I'm rambling on too much." she sighed. "Sorry, I get a bit carried away."

"No, I think it's cute." he smiled poking her nose. She made a silly face as soon as he touched his finger to her nose. He laughed before giving her a quick kiss.

Lily worked hard mashing up the mixture of cycads, ferns and palm for the toothless triceratops before her. It was proving to be more difficult then she had originally planned. She added some water to help and continued on mashing.

"How's it going?" Winston asked her.

"It's going." she huffed.

"We ought to get a blender in here." he said.

"That would be...lovely."

She finally finished and offered it to the triceratops that struggled eating from the bowl. Lily grabbed it up and began scooping it into it's mouth.

"Your other friend seems to be jealous." Winston told her. She glanced over as the Triceratops ate and saw the small Pteranodon watching her. She chuckled. "Sure she's just hungry too."

She sighed. "What in the world am I going to do with you two?"

"I was hoping you already had an answer to that." a voice said.

Simon walked over to her.

"What do you mean? You guys plainly said, they'll be put down pretty much. I'm just trying to make their last few days bearable."

"Miss Goodwin, I have a proposition for you." Simon said.

She raised a brow. "I'm listening."

"With recent ...occurrences that you have brought to our attention, it seems we need a bit more education when it comes to our dinosaurs and how they are treated." he began.

"Go on."

"I know you know your stuff and I know many people on the island that will support that one, isn't that right Winston?"

"Yes, of course."

"Okaaaay..." she said.

"So, I have a small enclosure that was an abandoned idea when the park first began that I will allow you to use to keep our...lesser fit dinosaurs."

"Lesser fit?" she said.

"Quirky, what have you. The ones that cannot function in the park will be in your hands." he said.

She looked down to the Pteranodon and the triceratops. "That means...they get to live?!" she asked as her eyes lit up.

"Yes, you'll be in charge of them though. They are your responsibility. As long with your other duties such as the herbivore territory and tours. Think you can manage?"

"Damn right, I can."

"Good, that should keep you busy then."

"Keep me busy?" she repeated, she didn't like the sound of that.

"Just a figure of speech." he smiled quickly. "Anways, I have Todd coming out to help you with any issues dealing with the gates."

"Thank, Mr. Masrani. I really do appreciate it."

"Not a problem." he said.

Lily and Todd stood at the entrance of the enclosure looking around.

"Wow." Todd said with a whistle. "It's um...uh...what's the word I'm looking for?"

"A shithole?" she said.

"Shithole works." he nodded.

"We can do this, we can rebuild a couple of things."

"We have the technology."

"It is definitely going to take more than just us to get this place up and running." she said jumping as something slithered from under an abandoned bucket gripping onto Todd's arm.

"It's just a snake."

"I'm fine with dinosaurs, I don't do snakes Todd."

"Snakes? That's what you're fearful of."

"That and horribly done movie remakes. It's what nightmares are made of."
