"Quit dragging your feet!" Owen said gruffly as Lily fought as he pulled her towards the gate to the raptor paddock.
"Never!" she said struggling.
"Goodwin!" Owen sighed before stopping in his tracks. Lily pulled her arm away quickly.
"Thank you." she said. He smiled. Her face faltered.
"I don't like that look in your eye."
"What are you talking about?" he said taking a step towards her. She took a step back.
"That look!" she said pointing at him, but he moved quickly grabbing her hand and pulling her into him as he swiftly lifted her up over his shoulder.
"Hey!" she exclaimed. "Put me down this instant." she said wiggling in his hold.
"What happened to keep calm and carry on?" he said.
"Owen Grady-"
"Settle down." he said giving her a quick slap to the rear. She froze in his hold.
"You did not just smack my bum." she said.
He grinned mischievously before giving it a squeeze. "I grabbed it too."
"You are so dead." she growled. "Put me down! Put me down!" he entered the gate and pulled her off his shoulder holding her in his arms. She turned to her head and saw the four raptors watching them separated by a gate.
"Don't. Put. Me. Down." she said clutching onto the front of his shirt tightly.
Owen laughed before bringing her up onto the walkway and then finally placing her down on her feet.
She moved away from him fixing her shirt and mumbling under her breath.
"Not such a big talker now, are we?"
"I'm going to-" she walked towards him but the raptors screeched causing her to jump back at the ear piercing noise.
"Not so fast Goodwin, the girls aren't going to let you hurt this pretty face." he said grazing his chin. She glared at him before looking down to the four raptors.

She took a step towards the railing leaning over slightly.
"They're beautiful." she said softly.
"Don't let them hear you, their heads are big enough."
"The blue one...she's striking."
"That's Blue." he said before clearing his throat.
"Blue? How original." she said.
"Shut up." he mumbled.
"What about the others?"
"That's Charlie, Delta, and Echo."
"'Ello ladies!" she gave a slight wave. They stared at her. She lowered her hand slowly.
"What are you training them for?" she asked.
He shrugged. "I was just hired to work with them."
"So you come out of the Navy and join up with raptors?"
"I always loved dinosaurs. But all that schooling wasn't in the budget and I needed a job. Not all of us could grow up and be paleontologists Goodwin."
"It wasn't an easy path for me to get here. My mother fought me the entire way."
"What did she want you to do? Sit and drink tea all day?" he said poking fun at her.
"She wanted me to have some nine to five desk job."
"What about your dad?"
She smiled. "My dad is the one who introduced me to dinosaurs. When I was one, he bought me this stuffed stegosaurus I named Steggy eventually, I was hooked."
"Steggy?"
"What? Spikes is too cliche'." she told him. "Besides I can't change his name after two decades, it would completely confuse him."
"You still have him?"
"Yes I do, I cuddle up next to that dinosaur every night." she said.
"Lucky dinosaur." he muttered.
"What?" she asked looking at him.
"I said my back is sore." he said stretching. "It's been a long day."

She smiled before looking to his pocket. "What's this?" she asked picking it up quickly before he could even attempt to stop her.
"That's my clicker." he said.
"Ah, a clicker." she arose to her feet holding it. She clicked it once and the raptors watched her.
"Don't play around with it!" he said going to grab it. "You're going to confuse them."
"What?" she said with a playful gleam clicking it again.
"Give it back."
"I can't hear you over all this clicking!"
"Goodwin!" he said going to chase her.
Lily walked into the house quietly that night expecting Jennifer to be asleep.
"Where have you been?" Jennifer asked her as she was sitting on the sofa reading a comic book. She rested it on her stomach when she didn't get an immediate answer and peered over the sofa arm.
"Hello?"
Lily looked over at her. "Hmm?"
"Where have you been?" she asked again. "You had your first tour and then you vanished."
"Oh well, I went on my first tour."
"And?"
"It was a complete bust."
"It's okay, everyone has a rough first time. These tourists are brutal. So then where did you disappear off to?"
"I was grabbing some tea at the cafe and then Owen joined me for some lunch-"
"Owen huh?" a wide grin spread across Jennifer's face.
"Yes Owen, you remember him right? Tall fellow, sorta of orangey tinted brown hair, wears-"
Jennifer threw a pillow at her. "Shut up!" she laughed as Lily dodged it last second.
"We just went to the raptor paddock so I could meet the raptors he trained."
"You were there for an awfully long time."
"Were you worried Mum?" Lily said plopping down on Jennifer.
"No! Get off me you dork."
"Hold me!" Lily wailed dramatically.
"Get off!" Jennifer finally managed to push her off onto the floor causing both women to burst into laughter.
"Oh my bum. " Lily groaned. "First Owen, and now you. I think my arse is split into fourth's now."
Jennifer's eyes widened. "Owen touched your ass?"
Lily rolled her eyes. "I didn't-"
"Oh you slut!" Jennifer said sitting up. "You like him don't you?"
"He's a very nice person, what's not to-"
"Don't play that shit with me Goodwin. You like him, admit it?"
"God, you're forward."
"Admit it!"
"I'll admit it when you admit you like Cruthers." Lily said.
Jennifer glowered at her. "No, I don't like him."
"I call bullshit!" Jennifer threw another pillow at her knocking her square in the head.
"We're just friends. Besides..." she sighed. "He likes Vivian from the control room."
"What? I don't believe for one instance that he would choose Vivian over you."
Jennifer twiddled her thumbs before she was hit in the face with the pillow.
"Quit sulking. You have to get in there! Show him what he's missing out on."

The Gambit
The kingdoms have rarely experienced peace, with kings and rulers warring against each other on any percieved slight. With explorers riding the waves to find new lands and merchants eager to set up trade routes while profiting as much as possible. Would the status quo still hold up? The veil is already weakining as more magic and horrors seep through the gap. How would the world deal with the sudden increase in the limited resource of magic? With the times changing, barren lands become trade hubs and the power shifts. The system holding it all together, is in a fragile balance, would a single death break the balance and cause the most devastating war the people have experienced. The direction of the story : The story will not contain any main protagonist, rather multiple protagonists and antagonists with the protagonists having bad some character traits and the antagonists some good ones. I plan to make a story of flawed humans, so if you are looking for OP MCs you would not enjoy it. But I still hope you give it a try. This is my first time writing and I am doing it to get better, so any suggestion or criticism is welcome. I am a university student, so do not expect a robust upload schedule, I'll try to put out 2 chapters a week, but there might be some delays. I apologize for it in advance. P.s. English is not my native language, so there might be some errors, though I tried to mitigate them as much as possible.

Elder's Game
In a world set upon by an ancient threat, a new cycle of civilisation competes for power and resources. Amidst the games and politicking of Elder beings, the masses are unknowingly ensnared in plots and schemes that were centuries in the making. At the heart of the world’s workings lies the Tyreal Valley—a land that promises to fulfil the desires of those who seek it. As a haven for the truly strong, the path to this promise is paved more often than not in warfare and blood. To two young stragglers fighting for more than just their own fates, it is left as their only answer. But maybe that’s just what their enemies want. Magic system vaguely similar to GameLit ones (no system nor interface to help), with certain elements that are a bit more analogue. Politics, war, looming apocalypse, a tiny dash of kingdom building, and a minor bit of crafting. There is a bit of a progression element as well as both environmental and cultural exploration. The story follows two youths more directly influenced by aforementioned Elder beings than most. Neither lead cares for politics but certain situations force them into participating, forcing them to make decisions that shape their morality. Initially, the focus is on the male lead as he comes of age in an environment with little scope to change his future, only to be thrust into new circumstances that permanently kill some of his hopes. 3k words every chapter
