《Written in Bones [ Jurassic World]》Walk in the Park

Jennifer walked out of her room the next morning headed to the bathroom when she heard the shower already running. She was going to have to get used to the fact that she had a roommate. Not that she was opposed, she and Lily stayed up most of the evening talking about their lives over a couple of beers.
She heard Lily singing and edged closer.
"A is for Apatosaurus, B is for Brachiosaurus, C is for Corythosaurus..."
Jennifer covered her mouth to keep herself from laughing out loud. Finally, Lily came out to see Jennifer sitting at the kitchen table with an amused smile.
"Good morning."
"Morning." Jennifer grinned.
"Why are you smiling at me like that?" Lily asked ringing out her long hair with a towel before shaking it out like a dog.
"Singing your ABC's in there?"
Lilly puffed out her cheeks for exhaling. "You heard all that?"
"From Apatosaurus to Zigongosaurus." Jennifer said.
"Right...well that never leaves this house."
"You got it dude." Jennifer said. "Did you leave me any hot water?"
"Perhaps a drop." Lily said. Jennifer shot her a look. "I'm kidding, there's plenty left. Or at least there should be."
Lily looked at the Jurassic World uniform shirt on her bed. Her name was embroidered on the front of the white button up shirt.
"Who wears white at a dinosaur park?" she asked before putting it on. She pulled on a pair of jeans before slipping her feet into the pair of boots issued to her. She was attempting to lace one up while standing when she toppled over.
Jennifer opened the door poking her head in. Lily just laid there with a painful groan.
"Should I ask?"
"I rather you didn't."
"Okay." she closed the door.
"Alright this is yours." Jennifer handed her a radio. "And this." she placed a key in her hand.
"What's this for?" Lily asked.
"For your car. You plan on walking everywhere Goodwin?"
"Well no, but I hardly know where anything is."
"Just follow the signs, you'll figure it out quick. Mr. Masrani just wants you to take the day and roam around. Get your bearings."
"Right about that-" Jennifer was pushing her to the door.
"Have fun!"

Lily stood in front of the Mercedes-Benz G class SUV.
"Don't worry about getting dirty." Jennifer called from her vehicle before driving off.
"Yes, that's my concern, getting it dirty."
Lily drove around when she reached the Gyrospheres attraction. She stepped out when she saw Todd working on one of them.
"Todd!" she called. He looked over.
"Lily." he smiled wiping his hands on his pants. "What are you doing out here?" he asked. " I figured Masrani wouldn't have you out of his sight."
"Nah, they basically told me to go look around and get familiar with the area." she said.
"And you came here-"
"It was the first place I found from my home."
He chuckled. "Yeah, it's pretty easy to get turned around. How are you liking the park so far?"
"I dig it." she smiled.
"Nice, very punny" he tittered.
She stood proudly before looking at the machinery before her. "These things are crazy." she said touching the glass.
"Aren't they? They're designed to keep you upright the entire time, no matter what. Also, if you get too close they redirect you away."
"That's neat." she said.
"Not to mention we got Jimmy Falon giving the introduction video."
"Jimmy Falon? Why him?"
Todd shrugged. " I have no idea, but it works."
Suddenly, her radio went off startling her. She reached down and picked it up.
"Yes?"
"Ms. Goodwin , can you please come to the control room in the main centre?" a woman's voice asked.
"Uh sure." Lily placed the radio down. "If I can find my way there."
"I have to head back in to the main part to pick up another a piece for this one, I'll ride with you."
"Thank you!"
"Although, I'm not a hundred percent about all the roads either."
"Grreaat."
The two finally arrived, Todd took off to collect the needed piece while Lily walked into the main building. As she walked passed a few workers glanced at her and whispered. She made it to the control room and walked in to see a stern looking woman with red hair looking at her with pursed lips.
"About time you showed up. We've been waiting for ages." Lily saw Zara standing behind her with a clipboard in hand. She assumed this was Claire Dearing.

"Err... sorry, still trying to figure out where I'm going."
"We'll get you a map." Claire said."You need to prompt here Ms. Goodwin."
Lily rubbed her arm. She saw Lowery from the previous night along with a woman beside him giving her sympathetic looks.
"Did you call me here to scold me?" she asked.
Claire's eyes widened slightly before she raised a brow. "No, Mr. Masrani wanted me to formally meet you."
"Is this how you formally greet people?"
Zara motioned her to stop, waving her hands.
"No," Claire said through a clenched jaw forcing a smile on her face. It was slightly frightening. "Miss Goodwin, I am Claire Dearing , the park operations manager."
"Lily Goodwin. It's nice to meet you Ms. Dearing." Lily smiled widely at her.
Lily decided to visit Winston in the hatchery.
"There she is!" Winston smiled. "I'm glad you're here, I need some help with feedings."
"Are you by yourself?" she asked walking over to him.
"Unfortunately a nasty little cold is spreading around here. So, I'm the only one here today."
"I'm more than glad to help." she told him.
She sat down at a nest and began feeding a couple of ankylosaurus babies who pulled at the droppers.
"Hey!" she mused.
"Be careful with those ones, greedy little things."
She settled in front of a couple of small triceratops, one of them was rubbing it's head against the wall of the nest.
"I can't figure out why they do that." Winston said standing beside her.
"Boredom." Lily said plainly.
"Boredom?"
"I can only assume. For example, in some cases a horse will crib when faced with extreme boredom."
"Go on."
"Well...if these eggs were to hatch in a nest outside of the lab, they would be wandering around by now figuring out their new surroundings, they're babies, they are bound to be curious. But right now, when they hatch, they're encased in these walls."
"That's a good point. Never thought about it in those respects."
"I could be wrong." she said quickly. "I wouldn't take my word to heart!"
"Why not? It makes sense." he said. "You ought to have more faith in your words." he patted her back before walking lamely over to the counter. He turned to see Lily eyeing his leg before she looked away quickly.
"Car accident." he said.
"Huh?"
"It was a car accident, messed up my leg back when I had a full head of hair."
Lily frowned slightly. "I'm sorry..."
"No need to apologize, you're not the one who hit my car." he said with a kind smile.
Lily was sitting outside the Innovation Centre that evening attempting to find some cell service to call her father while she waited to meet up with Jennifer to grab dinner but it seemed she would have to wait until she got home. She sat down on the edge of a fountain placing her phone aside when she heard grumbling.
Owen was shaking his head while muttering under his breath.
"You seem flustered." she said. He jolted before looking over at her.
"Jesus, you scared the hell out of me."
"Sorry." she snickered.
"Do you just sit out here in the dark?"
"Do you always walk around muttering in the dark?" she countered.
He made a face at her before sitting down beside her. "I was not just walking around, I was leaving."
"Leaving from?"
"Someone's being nosey." he said poking her nose.
"Humor me, I've been sitting here for the last half hour trying to catch a cell signal." she told him.
"Sounds better than my night. I was on a date."
"Dates are supposed to be fun."
"Not when your date prints out an itinerary."
"I could see where that could be a bit of a mood killer."
"Destroyer is more like it."
"Who was it?"
"Claire Dearing." he said.
Lily blinked. "She does seem very-"
"Batshit crazy?"
"I was going to say organized, but sure, we can go with that."
She looked to his attire for the date. " Was it your intent to whoo her in board shorts?" she asked cheekily.
"Hey!" he laughed.
"I only say it because I can imagine she showed up prim and proper in a dress and you showed up looking like you were going to a pool party."
"Well, well, well, aren't we the fashion police?" he said.
"Right, because Paris Fashion Week is calling me up about my button up. Add a vest and I look like McLovin' from Superbad."
Owen laughed. "You did not just say that."
"Well, it's true!"
"Far from it Goodwin. Far from it."
