The first egg began to wiggly around nearly toppling over before the robotic arm reached over sitting it upright and holding it in place offering the small dinosaur some assistance.
"What's hatching?" Lily asked Winston.
"This batch is our little Pteranodons."
"You're joking, right?"
"No ma'am." Winston smiled.
The egg cracked and Lily witnessed a small beak attempt to peck it's way out. She sat back on a stool in pure shock.
"Are you alright, Ms. Goodwin?"
"That's...th...that's a baby dinosaur hatching." she said.
Winston chuckled. "Indeed it is."
The baby pecked it's way through before tumbling out with it's small wings. Lily squealed jumping up to her feet. She looked over to see Winston watching her in amusement. She looked away awkwardly.
"It's alright, I reacted the same my first time."
"Did you?"
"Yes, although I squealed a hell of a lot louder."
She giggled, Winston reminded her of a mix between her father and Mr. Rogers.
"You can hold it if you want?" Winston offered her.
"H-h-hold the dinosaur?" she stammered.
"Of course, all hatchlings are handled from the moment they hatch." he lifted up the first hatched pteranodon and placed it in her hands. It squawked slightly gripping her fingers with it's small little hands.
"Pinch me I must be dreaming."
"It's no dream Ms. Goodwin, it's reality."
The little winged dinosaur pecked at her hand and tried to clamp it's beak down on her finger.
"Oh boy, she's a hungry little one." Winston said moving to grab a feeder and handing it to her.
"Oh, I have no experience feeding an animal let alone a baby dinosaur."
"Relax, it's just a dropper, just give it a gentle squeeze, she'll do the rest."
Winston assisted a few others before grabbing a few other droppers and feeding them.

"So the eggs are actually ostrich eggs..."
"Or emu." Winston said. "I prefer the ostrich eggs though."
"So you insert the embryos right into the yolk of the egg..."
"That's correct and then with added hormones of whatever dinosaur we are looking to create, the baby dinosaur begins to take form."
She looked around the hatchery.
"Are any of these nests actual nests that have been taken from the fields?" she asked.
Winston frowned. "It's rare that we keep them." he admitted. "Our facilities like to be in control of the sexes and normally by the time we find a nest, it's often too late. We have to be careful."
"Pretty much all the dinosaurs out there are lab based?"
He nodded in silence.
Dr.Wu entered in. "Hey Lily, um..I have a message for you. Claire is running late, so she said that she'll meet you at Margaritaville restaurant." he handed her a worker's pass. "This is yours."
"Margaritaville?" she repeated looking the pass over before looking up to him.
"Oh you'll like it, they have the best burgers there." Winston told her.
"Alright then." she said.
Once the small avian dinosaur fed, Winston helped place it back in the nest with the others before bidding her a good night.
"You come back soon." Winston called to her.
"I will!"
After a two hours, Lily was wondering if Claire was ever going to show. She was sitting at the restaurant that was pretty much empty around that time. She had a slush drink in front of her dripping from the condensation as she looked over the logo on it. The half eaten burger was before her, she was going to have to break it to Winston if he thought those were the best burgers around he was sorely missing out.

"I'm telling you Lowery, if you don't make a move, she's gonna get herself a man." a voice said. She looked up to see two men with worker's passes walking towards the place.
"What am I supposed to say?!" he asked. "Hi Viv, we're coworkers and all but-"
"No, don't mention that you're coworkers. That's just weird."
"Well, I-" the two men stopped when they saw Lily observing them with a bewildered look.
The man with glasses smacked his forehead while the other one grinned.
"Haven't seen you around here before." he said walking over and sitting down.
"Well, I should hope not or I would deem you insane." she told him.
"Oooh I hear an accent, you're a Brit!" he said.
"Um.Yes."
"What part?"
"I-I was born in Bristol raised in London."
"Oooh say Bristol again." he said.
She gave him a perplexed look. "Bristol?"
"Oooh! Do it again!" he said again. She couldn't help but smile.
"Bristol."
"Oooh!"
"Bristol. Bristol. Bristol!"
"I got goosebumps."
The glasses man shook his head.
"You're completely mad." she laughed.
"No, I'm Owen Grady." he said reaching forward and shaking her hand.
"Lily." she told him. "Lily Goodwin."
"Lowery, quit being weird and introduce yourself." Owen said to the other man. He walked over taking a hand out of his hoodie and shaking her hand.
"Lowery Cruthers." he said.
"Nice to meet you gentlemen." she said.
"So, you just start?" Owen asked her.
"Yes, today actually. Arrived this morning."
"What's your job?"
"I'm not quite sure, they haven't made that clear yet."
"How are you liking it so far?"
"Well, it's definitely not a museum." she said.
Owen chuckled as Lowery smiled. "I take it you don't like the food though." Owen pointed at her burger.
"Not a fan of that particular burger."
"You have to go to the steakhouse. It's way better."
"Thanks, I'll be sure to check into it."
"Lily!" a voice called her name. She looked over to see a petite woman with short blonde hair running towards her. She stopped in front of her catching her breath. "Lily Goodwin?"
"Yes?"
"Hi, I'm Jennifer Donaldson. I'm here to take you home."
"That sounds interesting." Owen said.
"Buzz off Grady." Jennifer rolled her eyes. "I'm your roommate."
"Oh!" Lily jumped up. "Great!"
"Sorry, no one told me you were here until like fifteen minutes ago."
"No, it's alright. No need to fret."
"Well, I bet you want to get settled so you can come with me."
"Okay," Lily turned to Owen and Lowery. "Uh, it was nice talking with you."
"It was nice hearing you." Owen said with a smirk and Lowery waved. Jennifer pulled her along.
"They seemed rather nice." Lily said.
"Yeah they are, Owen seemed to take a quick interest in you."
"No," Lily shook her head quickly, "I think he was just being friendly."
Jennifer snorted. "Keep believing that."
They arrived to a nice little home out in the middle of nowhere.
"Welcome to Casa de ...." Jennifer pursed her lips. "Never mind, welcome home!"
Lily followed her into the nice clean home.
"It's a little plain but-'
"It's lovely. Simple is better in my opinion."
Jennifer smiled.
"So, what's your job here?"
"I work at the Mosasaurus tank show."
"I went by there earlier. What a magnificent animal."
"Temperamental bastard is what she is." Jennifer told her. "Care for a beer?" she asked.
"Have any Guinness?" Lily asked.
Jennifer turned to her. "You and I are going to get along just great." she said. "Extra stout fine?"
"It's good with me."Lily smiled.
Jennifer handed her a bottle before plopping on the couch, Lily plopped down beside her.
"Cheers."

Sod's Law (Dropped)
This fiction has been dropped, you're more than welcome to read it anyway (there is sort of an ending). But you have been warned... Sod's law is a more extreme version of Murphy's law. While Murphy's law says that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong (eventually), Sod's law requires that it always goes wrong with the worst possible outcome. For example, concepts such as "bad fortune will be tailored to the individual" and "good fortune will occur in spite of the individual's actions" are sometimes given as examples of Sod's law in action. This would broaden Sod's law to a general sense of being "mocked by fate". In these aspects it is similar to some definitions of irony, particularly the irony of fate. - Definitions of Sod's Law on Wikipedia. The protagonist, as many before them, and many who followed, thought they were just entering a VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing-Game). Unbeknownst to them however, was a short paragraph in the Terms & Conditions, that, upon agreement, would actually transport them to a fantasy world, loosely based on the game they thought they were entering. - Something anyone could be forgiven for, no-one reads them after all. In this new world, they discover that people are born with “Traits”, a System recognised, ability, skill, or talent, that they are born with. Sod's Law was not a trait they, or anyone else for that matter, would want. Pure madness follows. Yup, this is about a character transferred to a fantasy game-world with the worst luck imaginable. This is my first fiction so I apologise for any grammar and spelling mistakes that may be made. Hopefully it is readable, and if so please tell me! But if it's not, also tell me, but in a constructive way if at all possible? Due to the nature of the “Trait” the story will be dark in places, with plenty of gore and profanity, hence the tags. There may also be scenes of a sexual nature, but nothing full on – sorry guys but you'll have to go elsewhere for that.
