《Her and I (Kyouka Jirou x Fem Reader)》Chapter Eleven

Hagakure had helped me move the couch over by the window, but since then she'd just been walking around the room inspecting things. The only reason I even knew that she was still there at all was because every once in a while she'd hum a little 'hmm'. I wanted to go to Jirou's room to talk with her, or downstairs to get Yoamomo for help with the curtains, but I thought it might come off at rude if I left while Hagakure was still there.
"It's kind of bland." Hagakure suddenly spoke.
"Huh?"
"Give me one sec!"
Based on the rushed footsteps I assumed that she'd run off and waited awkwardly where I stood for her return.
Then the door swung open again and I winced as it hit the wall. A floating.. something accompanied the suspended clothing of Hagakure and was thrust in my face.
"Here!" She exclaimed, urging me to take the fluffy pink object. "I thought your room needed a bit more of a feminine touch, so take this!"
"Oh uhm okay. Thank you." A feminine touch? I wondered.
I took a look at the object, which appeared to be a large stuffed animal I surmised was meant to resemble a penguin. Though I'd never seen a pink penguin before. I found it a little odd, both the gesture and actual stuffed animal itself. Still, I hugged it to my chest, as I couldn't help but feel a little happy that I'd just received my first ever.. well, my first ever gift.
I smiled warmly at Hagakure and gave her a more genuine thanks. She squealed, scaring me half to death, said that I was 'too cute for words' and then promptly ran off back to her room.
I just stood there for a moment, overthinking the odd interaction, then decided to move on as it wasn't going to make any sense to me any time soon.
After she'd left I didn't have much to do other than the curtains, which I'd about given up on, so I decided to head over to Jirou's room.
I walked down the hall for a few moments before spotting her name plate next to a door and peaking my head in.
"Jirou?"
"Hm?" I raised my head from where I was kneeled down peeling at the old carpeting and smiled lopsidedly. I kind of wish (y/n)'d use my first name, it just seems like it'd feel more right, but I have only known her for a little over a week. Hurriedly, I got up and opened the door to gesture for her to come inside.
"How are you liking the dorm so far? I know it's not as lavish as living with Mr. Aizawa, but at least it's something." I joked sarcastically. When I'd first arrived at (y/n)'s apartment to help pack I had been surprised to not only see that (y/n) lived with Aizawa and Eri, but also get a glimpse of Aizawa in what I could only refer to as "dad mode". I was also impressed by how the apartment was somehow even crappier than my own, but I wasn't about to say that in front of (y/n) when she seemed so happy to be living there. Not to mention it's not exactly the kind of thing that you want your teacher to overhear.

"Ah it's pretty nice. I'm already sorta missing having Eri there.. but it should be fine with all these people living so close." She responded as she walked inside stiffly. Oh, right. Being there at the apartment I'd only caught a glimpse of (y/n) and little Eri's relationship, but it was clearly strong, and they had seemed so close in their interactions that for a moment, despite what she'd told me, I wondered if they really were sisters. I could only imagine how being apart from someone you're that close with would feel.
"Well, you shouldn't worry about seeing her. She does come visit often, and even lived in the faculty dorms for a little bit. So everyone here kind of expects her to come around every once in a while." I tried to comfort her. Upon hearing my words cracked a small smile at me, causing my heart to flutter just a little.
I broke away from her sweet little smile and walked back to my bed and plopped down, patting the spot next to me for (y/n), since she seemed a little uncomfortable just standing there. She made her way over and I crossed my legs underneath myself to make room for her. She sat down next to me and ruffled the soft red sheets with one hand absentmindedly.
It was quiet for a while, but for once I didn't mind. Usually I thrived on being in the presence of the stupid chaos that most of my classmates emitted, but I actually felt more comfortable and at peace just sitting in silence with this mysterious girl I'd come across over the break.
I glanced over. She was wearing a different style of clothes than I'd seen her in at the forest, as if she didn't quite know what suited her best. Personally, I liked this a little better than the overalls, but I figured that she'd look good in just about anything she blindly threw on.
She wore a large, oversized red t-shirt and some distressed black baggy jeans. In fact, she kind of fit in with the whole color scheme of my room. If you ignored her pastel yellow duckling print socks that is. I chuckled under my breath upon noticing them. She really had no sense of fashion whatsoever, which I found refreshing, and frankly, adorable.
Adorable? When was the last time I used that word for anything other than mocking Kaminari's childish movie taste?
Before I could over-scrutinize my word choice a knock sounded at the door, interrupting my thoughts. (y/n) jumped a little at the sudden noise and then turned to me.
"Can I go open it for them?" She asked quietly. I had to keep from laughing at her overt politeness and instead just nodded. It wasn't like she really needed my permission.
She got up and walked to the door.
"(y/n)?" I heard Yaomomo's voice at the door and leaned to the side so she could see me. "Oh perfect, you're both here. Iida asked me to go around and gather the girls for dinner as he believes it is irresponsible for him to intrude in our rooms," she sighs in admiration, this girl chooses strange qualities to respect, "So please come join us in the dining hall as soon as you can."

"Where's the dining hall?" (y/n) asked after Yaomomo had left. I smiled softly,
"I'll walk you."
Nearly everyone was at the dining hall for dinner, and as expected, everyone loved (y/n). Except for Bakugo, that is, who according to Kirishima would be coming later at night in attempts to avoid everyone.
I noticed that she seemed to form bonds with the kinder of our classmates very quickly.
For example, she seemed absolutely enthralled by Uraraka's gunhead martial arts, which gravity girl had demonstrated some of at one point during the meal. Uraraka so clearly lit up at having her skills appreciated, and afterwards engaged (y/n) in one of the most wholesome, excited, conversations about her internship. For about ten minutes the both of them seemed completely in their own little world. It made something in my gut stir a little unpleasantly, but it was sweet to witness more of her smiles nonetheless.
Everyone also asked their fair share of questions of the new student. Things about her horn, her quirk, her relationship with Eri and Mr. Aizawa. I felt the need to help her deflect most of the questioning because, while I didn't know much on the subject of her past myself, I'd sensed in my previous interactions with her that it wasn't something she exactly wanted to go into detail about. She also seemed a bit uncomfortable with the constant physicality of our classmates, and discreetly tried to distance herself from as much of the contact as possible, but that was a little harder for me to interfere with and she eventually seemed to give up. Kaminari was especially persistent in this, and no matter how much I glared at him he didn't remove his arm from around (y/n)'s shoulders the entire dinner.
Overall being thrown back into so much social interaction so abruptly after the break was a bit tiring, but I figured it was much more exhausting for (y/n). Still, she kept on a smile for most of the time and -surprisingly, since they're all idiots- seemed genuinely excited to meet everyone. And at least her first introduction to relatively normal school life didn't include her first introduction to relatively normal school food. Luckily for her, UA is known for their oddly delicious cafeteria meals.
After dinner, as promised, we began heading back to my room. " Are you sure you want to go back to my room? Everyone else is in the common room. I didn't think of the fact that you might want to spend some more time getting to know them instead of hanging alone with me." I asked as we entered the elevator before pressing the third floor button.
"Hm. It was nice to meet them, but I'd rather be with you now." She said matter-of-factly. I felt my cheeks grow red at her statement and muttered a little 'okay' before allowing the elevator doors to close.
As we headed into my room I sat back down on my bed, and (y/n) stood for a moment looking around before kneeling down in front of one of my guitars and pointing at it.
"So what does this sound like?"
"Um.. let can I show you?"
She nodded eagerly. I crawled over my bed to reach the guitar and picked it up from its stand to set in my lap. (y/n) watched intently as I set one hand so my fingers hovered over the frets and rested the other on the body. Confidently, I played a single test note.
As soon as the sound reached (y/n)'s ears she moved forward to sit directly in front of me as if drawn by it. I looked up momentarily to see her eyes wide sparkling. I smiled a little at the sight, then closed my eyes and decided to play a little for her.
After a few minutes I opened my eyes to meet her gaze, which to my surprise was frozen onto not the guitar, but my face. I felt myself go red.
"So.. what do you think?" I asked nervously. After all, by the way she acted and some things she'd told me I'd picked up that this was her first introduction to music in a long time. I hoped that I hadn't botched it up too much.
"It sounded..." She didn't seem like she was able to find the words, making me even more nervous, and instead asked excitedly, "Did you write that?"
I laughed and shook my head. "It's just the guitar solo from a song of one of my favorite bands' first track. I memorized it a while ago."
"Can I-um. Can I hear more of their music?" She asked eagerly.
For the next couple hours we laid sprawled across my bed listening to some of my playlists. At first she seemed a little disappointed that it wouldn't be me playing, but I didn't think I could play very well knowing she was staring at me the whole time.
For the first few minutes she asked endless questions about the artists, the instruments, and the lyrics, which I was more than happy to respond to in detailed length. But After a while we fell into comfortable silence and just listened.
Yaomomo came in to tell us to head to bed at one point, since school was starting tomorrow, but I was too content to let the night just end there. And I didn't really think I could sleep either. Later on Iida even came by to knock, abandoning his own policy about girls dorms, but we just continued listening.
I didn't noticed how tired (y/n) had gotten until I opened my mouth to tell her something about the song playing and noticed before I could speak that she'd fallen asleep.
She was turned on her side and her head was leaned against my own, both hands tucked up beneath her chin in small little fists. Her breathing was quiet and even, though it did hitch every now and then as if she'd already begun dreaming.
My initial reaction was to lose my mind, as any normal human's would be, but I forced myself to calm down rather quickly for the sake of not waking her. I didn't want to stare either, as it felt like an invasion of her privacy, so I forced myself to look away. For a moment I debated bringing her to her room, but I didn't think that I could pick her up without waking her, so instead I just set my alarm, placed a blanket carefully over her, and waiting until I eventually drifted off to sleep, the sound of the music still playing throughout the room.
