I sighed as I continued to pace. Chris was currently looking at me with concern.

"I didn't mean to worry you, but you should know that it's a possibility that they might go for your daughter."

"Why, dammit?!"

Chris sighed, "You know that I don't have to explain that to you. Your bloodline consists of the most powerful witches ever known. Our enemies, as well as some of our allies, would want that power."

"Then, why not me?! I roared.

"Vanessa is younger; they consider her easier to manipulate. You shouldn't worry just yet; it could be another few years before they even take notice of her."

I continued pacing, as I got lost in thought. Astrazia was an organization of pseudo witches. They viciously killed witches and then extracted their magic out of their body. The theory of extracting magic and implanting it into your own essence was originally made by a human. Of course, humans didn't know what they were doing, but the supernaturals did. Both humans and supernaturals soon banded together and formed an organization called Astrazia. No one's heard from then in over a century, and all of a sudden when Vanessa starts practicing magic, they resurface. I wanted to believe that they weren't after my baby girl, but I had to prepare for the worst.

When I got home, I found Vanessa on the couch and pulled her up into a hug.

"Whoa, everything okay, dad?"

"Everything's fine, baby."

I smiled down at her and ruffled her hair. She was strong; if the time comes, then she would get through this. I believed that with every fiber of my being. She is her father's daughter, after all.
