《Twice Bitten ✔》Chapter 34

Leila and I spent the rest of the night eating junk food and watching Netflix. Leila was currently wrapped up in a blanket snoring. I chuckled when she mumbled something about Channing Tatum in her sleep.

I grabbed the remaining junk food off the bed and headed down to the kitchen to put everything up. I padded my way upstairs and crawled into bed, falling to sleep almost instantly.

When I woke up, half of Leila's body was over mine, and she had a bit of drool on the side of her mouth. I rolled my eyes at my best friend and tried waking her up.

"Leila, wake up." I shook her

After a couple of times of doing that I sighed at the unmoving Leila. Okay, well let's try something different.

"FIRE!" I screamed

Nothing, absolutely nothing. What the hell would she have done if it was a real fire? This was ridiculous. As soon as I thought about giving up an idea popped into my head.

"OMG, CHANNING TATUM, AND ALEX PETTYFER ARE STRIPPING!"

Leila instantly jumped off the bed nearly stumbling.

"Where?!" She exclaimed, absently wiping the drool off of her face.

I shook my head at my crazy best friend. Leila was and probably always will be boy crazy. I smiled. I got dressed and walked downstairs to find Leila eating cereal. I grabbed a bowl and got some cinnamon toast crunch.

Mmmh... Cinnamon toast crunch was truly heavenly. Leila glanced at me and mumbled something about me being a bad friend. I giggled she was still grumpy from earlier. But did she really think she was going to wake up to two studs stripping? I snickered. Knowing Leila, that was probably one of her many goals in life.

"Oh come on, Leila. If you stop pouting, we can watch Magic Mike tonight. Leila perked up.

"With buttered popcorn?"

"Yes, with buttered popcorn." I laughed

This was probably the best weekend I've had in a while. It was nice just to relax with my best friend. Honestly, just her being here makes everything better. I couldn't ask for a better best friend.

I turned to my side. I snuggle deeper into my pillow. . Damn it all to hell! Why wouldn't the beeping stop! I open my eyes to see it was my alarm. I turn it off and close my eyes again. I curse. I yawned and dismissed my alarm. My eyes shot open when I realized that was the sound of my late alarm. It was used as a last-ditch effort to keep me from being late.

"Leila, wake up. We're going to be late!"

How the hell did we sleep past all the other alarms?!

"Leila if your ass isn't up and moving by the time I get out the shower I'm going to hurt you!"

I snatched some clothes out of my drawer and took a quick shower. I walked out of the bathroom brushing my still wet hair, only to stop dead in my tracks. Un-fucking-believable. She hasn't even moved!

"Leila! If you're not ready by the time the guys get here, I'm telling them to leave you here; and I'll tell Rafe about all your embarrassing childhood stories!"

And just like that, Leila pops off the bed, moving like Speedy Gonzales. I go downstairs and fix us some pepperoni hot pockets to go and grab our backpacks. I hear the car pull up, and before I could even yell Leila's name, she barrels her way downstairs, snatches her bag and zips into the car. I smirked. Well, that was effective enough. I locked the door and slid into Dylan's car.

"Why did Leila practically run to the car?" Tony asked

I looked back at Rafe and Leila.

"Well..." I dragged out.

"No reason really; just didn't want to be late." Leila squeaked out; talking a mile per minute.

I smiled, and after a few seconds of looking back and forth between Leila and me, the brothers shrugged, and then we were off to school.

First period ended swiftly. Everyone was talking amongst themselves as our teacher got our lesson ready, and then there was silence. Leila and I turned around to see Kayden walk in looking just as stellar as before. Leila and I rolled our eyes when we saw girls reapplying their lip gloss. I looked back at Kayden and noticed his gaze never left me as he introduced himself. Some of the girls noticed this and sent glares my way. Kayden donned a satisfied grin and made his way to me. My heart thundered in my chest as he leaned towards me.

"I told you I'd see you around." He said before finding his seat in the back

I blushed, not sure what to do with everyone's attention focused on me. Luckily the lesson started quickly after that. Of course, that didn't stop people from talking.

It was finally lunchtime and I was starving! The next time Leila almost makes us late she's fixing me a proper breakfast. I was teasing Leila on her ability to sleep like the dead when I bumped into someone and cursed. This was starting to happen way more than I could care for.

"Well someone has a potty mouth."

I looked up at a smirking Kayden.

"Yup, she's worse than a sailor," Leila said

"Hey! I'm not that bad."

Kayden and Leila laughed

I huffed. I was not that bad!

"Do you want to eat lunch with us?" I asked pointing towards everyone

Kayden glanced at the table. He grimaced and sent me a questioning glance before he shook his head and smiled down at me.

What was that about?

"Nah, I'm going to sit with my family, maybe next time." He jerked his thumb towards a table in the back

"Okay, I'm holding you to that." I smiled up at him and made my way towards Dylan.

When Leila and I sat down, everyone looked tense.

"What's wrong?"

I didn't think anyone was going to answer me until Sage smiled at me.

"There's a game on Friday, and your ex has been throwing empty threats at Tony and Rafe. Our family is huge on football, and we don't take kindly to threats."

I felt like that wasn't the only thing bothering them but I decided to let it go. I frowned and glanced back at Emmett. So he was threatening people now? Maybe I should talk to him. The idea of him threatening Rafe or Tony didn't sit well with me either. I guess Dylan knew where my thoughts were heading.

"Hey, don't worry about it. We're more than capable of handling that guy."

I nodded and took a bite of my lasagna. I couldn't quite shake the feeling that there was more to it than that, but I knew if I needed to know Dylan would tell me.
