step feels like a burden on her soul. Still, her face remains blank void of any emotions. Now, he can see her dressing and he has to agree she has changed in a different person now.
She was a naive, innocent and pure little girl 8 years ago and now she was a confident, fierce and grown woman. The contrast between these two almost made him think if they were the same person but the eyes of hers, God, those eyes of her that had haunted him these past years. He cannot forget them.
There was a speciality in her eyes- they were as dark chocolate but the smoothness of it is unveiling. He was far familiar with those pairs of eyes to know that it is her, indeed. But what had gone down in these past years?.
She didn't want to wear her doctor coat because usually the patient never looks twice at them because of it. That's the reason she dresses casually to be friendlier with her patient.
"She must be in her room. She stays there all the time". He answered her question before she can ask, "She doesn't come out and because of her health distorting she couldn't come out too".
"What exactly is her health problems?". She asked because that information wasn't in the files
"As for now, she has depression that I know of because of the sudden loss. Besides that, her heart is not in good condition and because she is stressed all the time- it's getting worse". He explained and she didn't miss that his last words held pain
"I will do my best". She said taking a deep breath as they stop in front of his mother's room
"You better". He said stern opening the door to his mother room
She enters inside the sheer darkness blinking to adjust her eyes as he went to switch the lights on. She finds a lifeless figure sitting in the middle of the King size bed looking at the wall blankly.
"Ammi Jaan". He said softly and her eyes turn to him for a moment to know if it is him speaking, "Dekhein kon aya hai ap se milne".
(Mother) (Look who is here to meet you)
His mother eyes turn to her in the hope which she finds dying down immediately as her eyes turn blank again.
"Yeh Heer hai, aj se ap k sath rahay gi to help you". He explained getting no response he sighs standing from the bed
(This is Heer, she will stay with you from now to help you)
She watches his disoriented and low movements as he walks out of the room closing the door leaving her behind.
"You don't want to talk to me, right?". She asked getting no reaction and she throws her bag on the couch stretching herself, "I guess that will work for my plan perfectly".
His mother blue eyes turns to her and she finds the resemblance between them. Even though his mother didn't speak she knows the question she is asking her.
So she proceeds to look uninterested going to sit down on the couch, "Yeah! About my plan, your son is dim wit who is paying a high price for me to be here and I have been thinking about this amazing snow show that will happens in few months but the ticket costs fortunes. So, if I were to work here for a month I am sure I can buy them without any sweat".
"My son is not a dim wit". His mother said not liking her words

She hides her smile knowing that mother's loves are the strongest that stays until the last breath.
"Well, he has to be to bring a newbie to you. I am sure we can work this out. We don't have to talk or anything be done". She said shrugging taking out her magazine to read
She didn't hear any reply from his mother and she wasn't frankly looking for it. She knows the patient needs time and she has plenty of it on her plate. After spending silent hours she finally walks out at dinner time walking downstairs to find him in the lounge.
"My driver will take you to your place to bring your things". He said nonchalantly not looking at her instead of at his files
She nodded.
She walks out of the house sitting in the car as the driver takes her to her apartment and then as she collects her things he brings her back to his house. She stands in front of the house sighing because each time she enters inside it will not stop hurting her.
Probably it's her Lord way of saying to have reconciliation with her past instead of running away from it. But, it is a very painful one.
"I will have to head to the hospital a few times because my patient cannot be transferred immediately to another doctor". She said as she stands in front of him
He nodded walking away when she spoke again, "What about your mother?. Did she eat?".
"No. She barely eats and I brought the plate back down a while ago". He said grimly walking away
She walks inside the lavish kitchen looking around to make a plate of food again as she walks back to his mother room to find her sitting on the bed. She closes the door entering inside sitting beside her as she raises a spoon towards her.
His mother looks at her blankly as she spoke, "What?. Isn't this how our parents make us eat when we refuse?. Come on, open your mouth".
His mother didn't.
"Well, I mean it's fine by me. Your son can suffer every day watching your distorting health and I will have him pay me some more cash to take care of it". She said shrugging making another spoon taking it to her lips
And this time, she ate it. She didn't force her to eat all of it knowing she can't since she haven't eaten in a while. After being done, she takes her medication handing it to her. She made her lay down covering her with the duvet, closing the lights walking out of the room with the plate.
"She ate it?". She heard his voice that startles her
She places a hand over her chest, "Yes".
She didn't wish to stay in his presence for long so she quickly cleans the plate placing it in its place knowing he had followed her to the kitchen and his eyes continuously follow her.
"What are you doing here?". He finally spoke after comprehending the rights words
She stilled looking at him as she lips turn into a thin line, "By what right are you asking me that?".
She inwardly smirks when the watches his expression darken at her words. He strode towards her as if she is his favourite prey standing right in front of her.
"I asked a question so answer it". He said threatening
"I asked one too and you still haven't answered it". She said standing her ground
He holds onto her arm pulling her towards him and his eyes burning in fury, "Don't. Question. Me".

"Why?. What are you that I can't question you?". She said pushing his hand away, "Don't ever touch me".
With that, she turns around leaving the kitchen before he comes after her. He banged his hand on the wall angrily and he just can't help but be angry. Ever since that incident happened all he does is get angry. About everything and anything.
The next whole week none of them showed their faces to each other. She started quietly with his mother every day speaking a few times especially to curse him which brings her some peace too. Finally, after a week she decided to bring his mother out. Now, they sit in the lounge because the air was windy and she didn't want her to be sick.
She removes her jacket placing it on the couch sitting down on the carpet with her study book.
"So, I have decided that if you don't wish to speak I will". She said shrugging smiling at his mother, "Hmm. What should I start with though?".
She stretches her hands opening her books as she starts, "Should I tell you about my father's mistake?". She paused, "Well, he promised someone to marry me off to when I turns 18".
His mother eyes turn to her and she nodded continuing, "I know. If I were to tell anyone the story they will always bad mouth my father so I don't tell anyone so it's a secret between us, ok?".
His mother nodded.
"So, my father was this amazing man who everyone can wish to have and he always taught me things I would need in my life. Then, as I turn 18, I was supposed to be married to an unknown man I had to idea about". She said taking a deep breath, "He left me at my wedding day".
His mother eyes widen as she looks at her finally speaking, "What?".
She nodded, "Yeah! He was -".
"I need to talk to you". She heard his thundering voice making her shudder
She turns around to find him seething in anger not wanting to have his mother worry she nodded walking with him towards his office. He banged the door shut as soon as she enters inside causing her to jerk a little.
"What were you thinking?". He asked angrily marching towards her
She frowns, "About what?".
"Don't act innocent. I know you were trying to tell her about yourself. What will you gain from it?". He asked holding onto her arm shaking her
For a split moment, the fear rushing into her body but she shook it off as her eyes hardened looking directly in his steel eyes.
"I told you before I am not as low as you I was trying to find some common ground and I wanted to teach her something before you dragged me here. If you would have waited for a minute you would have known, but then you are good at assuming everything, aren't you?". She said gritting her teeth
He looks directly in her eyes because somehow her eyes speak volumes. They had hate for him- pure boiling hate he had never seen in her eyes not even for anyone. He had seen her eyes a little too much and they were always these soft pairs that people can come to however now they were throwing him off the cliff without any remorse.
"Leave". He said angrily not removing his hands from her arm
"If you don't trust me. Ask my professor to change me instead of dragging me everywhere you want". She said pushing his hands away brushing her clothes, "I thought I made myself clear before don't ever touch me".
He heard the door closing just as loud as he had closed it before and everything came rushing down to him. It is when he is alone without even his anger is that his heart seems to be on display. He looks down at his hands which still had the effect of touching her on it. He had to agree that every time he was in a faceoff with her it all starts to become something more than just his anger and her. His anger somehow starts to look like a tool he uses just like she said.
He walks out of the office locking his heart again as he walks downstairs to find her with his mother.
"You are scared of making a wrong decision". She said smiling, "Baba always used to say that as a parent he was scared to take decisions alone because he fears that about his decisions for me could be wrong. I used to run to him for everything that I needed to ask my homework to everything. He was someone I used to believe will know every answer to my question and every right for me. Until I turned 18 and I found that he can be wrong too".
She holds his mother soft hands in his as she finds tears in her eyes, "Parents are human who makes mistakes. They can be wrong but not intentionally. They want what's best for us however they are just human in the end. They bring us in the world, feeds us and made us who we are and along the line we forgot they are human who have sacrificed their dreams, health wealth and everything on us. They can be wrong to take some decisions and they can have human errors because they are not perfect neither they were supposed to. After my mother went, my father used to stay awake at night even if it was a simple decision of my life because he was scared to take any decision. Yet, every day, he would wake me and get me ready for the day with a beautiful smile on his face. He had his flaws which I never thought he should have because he was supposed to be perfect. I realised I was just as imperfect and he still loved me more than his life. He told me that if we truly love someone we love them regardless of their imperfections".
She wipes his mother tears away, "I know you are scared to take decisions without your husband. You think since you were always second in command you need someone else to make a decision. You don't need anyone, just take decisions that you think are best for him. You don't need anyone because your husband doesn't. He always thought about what's best for his children and that's how he worked. Don't you think that by closing yourself off you are hurting yourself, your husband and your children?. You have their love and they will forever respect you. Don't give up on life this soon".
His mother starts to cry and he feels his own heart clenching. Obviously, he hadn't thought about his mother's fears all he ever wanted was to be her back to her previous self who he can reach out to whenever he was stuck in something. Someone who will always be calm and collected. Someone who will always be smiling and helping him.
That what he used to think.
He decided to walk away to his office when he heard the bell ringing.
She opens the door and Ibrahim walks inside with some sweets in his hand which made her smile. Ibrahim went to his mother hugging her handing her the sweets.
"Arey! Aunt, you are missing all the fun". Ibrahim said handing her the sweets, "It's my sister marriage".
"Mubarak ho". She said on behalf of both her and his mother who is yet to speak (Congratulations)
"Thank you". Ibrahim said smiling, "You are going to sleep?".
His mother nodded.
She takes his mother hands taking her upstairs knowing all these questions and emotions made her weak. She hands her the medicine closing the lights walking back down.
"I wanted to talk to you". Ibrahim said
She nodded as they walk to the backyard looking at the beautiful garden and sky.
"Actually, I know what he has done to cannot be excused". Ibrahim started
"I don't want to talk about it anymore, please". She insisted
Ibrahim turns to her and she takes a step back because it was too close.
"No-". Ibrahim started
"What are you doing here?". She heard his roaring in anger
She is dead meat.
