"Who are you?". Her real mother asked
She chuckles dryly, "Of course. You wouldn't recognise the daughter you abandoned now, would you?".
He stands beside her holding her hand as she witnesses the scene unfold. His eyes widen when he realised that she was her real mother. He saw the woman face pale and realisation coming onto her.
"Y-You-". The woman (Zameen) stuttered
"How can you live so happily?. I mean you abandoned me then go around living freely?. How could you?". She yelled angrily taking a step forward but he holds her back
She glared at the woman while she speaks her mind off at her. But, she ran away like every time.
"Are you ok?". He asked sitting beside her on the couch
"What happened?". His mother asked worriedly
"Nothing. I am fine". She said walking away
She sat down in the shower holding her head as the images of her birth mother smiling with her own family appeared in front of her like a broken cassette recorder. She had been holding on for so long and then she had to have a visit from her past.
He hears her crying from the other side of the door on which he leans on. He knows she hates when people see her crying and now that she had been trying to be strong for herself, for once, she was hurt again. Though, her life was filled with emotional scars but to have the person who started them was the worse one.
He walked inside not wanting her to be alone and his heart clenching at her sob. He looked at the shower where she sat he took stride near her holding her in his arms as they sat there. She feels the comfort of him being near her calming her down instantly.
"Why are you here?". She asked looking at the same man who had once said he will buy her
He smirked holding her hand tightly, "I came here to do what I couldn't for a long time".
She pushed him away angrily, "You cannot do a thing to me like you wasn't able to before. I am already married".
She walked away quickly towards the university gate with her clenched fists looking nowhere but the exit. She feels someone holding her hand and her breathing hitched.
"Sarah". Ahad said softly taking a step in front of her
He studied her face which was paler than ever.
"What happened?". He asked worriedly
"No-". She started
"Don't lie, Sarah. Tell me what is it?". He asked again firm
She sighs.
She explained the situation that happened and the reason behind him only to find the same anger she would always find in his eyes for her. But, this time it was more with the rights of being angry and possessive over her.
Something she likes, secretly.
She enjoys the next hour or so of him being angry at the man and cursing him while she eats her chips listening to him.
"Your mother was taken into hospital for a mental test and she was said to be positive". His father said
She smirked.
"That went well. I wonder how she looks". She said looking at her hands, "Then again probably not".
The next week went by faster while people questioned how she managed to live with a psychopath and other sympathising with her.
"The deal which was cancelled I have brought it back. That should be enough proof of my capabilities". She said firmly looking at the board member of the company

"We never knew she was like that or we wouldn't have dealt with her. The company will be transferred to you". Member says
"My mother might have issues but she never did anything to receive words from you all. She did her best to pay you back for years for everything you have invested. The least you should do is not talk behind her back". She said angrily
"Now, you have her total power". He said watching her standing in the terrace
She nodded, "Yes, so is her pride. I wonder how she is now".
"You want to see her?". He asked
"No, not now". She said shrugging
"How in the world you have no idea how to do this problem?". He asked banging his head on the table
She giggles.
"Oh, now you think it's funny". He said groaning but smiling at her laugh
She laughed.
"You cannot even being to imagine how funny you look right now". She said still laughing
"That's it, I am not teaching. What kind of student insult their teacher and laugh at them?". He said with fake anger
She smiled looking at him. Even when she knows the answer she didn't want to show him that. Spending time with him was all that matters.
"Come on, you can't really be mad". She said looking at him but he turned around
"Acha (ok), sorry, sorry". She said holding her ears
"No, I-". He started
"Someone is here to meet you". His father said worriedly
She frowned moving away from her husband and walking outside towards the lounge. Just as she entered she wished she wouldn't have. She found the woman who gave her birth with her son sitting there looking around.
"What are you doing here?". She asked angrily
"This isn't the house". Zameen said looking at her for answers
"No, this is my husband house. Now, why are you here?". She asked sharply as she sat down on the couch
He knows how hard it was for her so he sat beside her holding her clenched hands. His mother forwards the glass of water to everyone and one to her.
"That day-". Zameen started
"I don't care. I want to know why you are here?". She said cutting her off
"You are not my daughter". Zameen said
She smirks, "Now, why would you say that?".
Zameen looked at her angrily," She was respectful, beautiful and better than you. You cannot be her".
Her heart stopped.
"Still you abandoned her". She said standing from her seat with the glass in her hand as she takes steps, "Respectful, beautiful and better, you are right I am nothing like her".
She leaves the glass as it shattered on the ground, "You killed that child. You are here for what?".
"I did it because of some reasons you wouldn't understand. I left you in a nice place. I know that woman treated you well, right?". Zameen said desperately
She chuckles dryly clapping her hands, "Now, I know why, guilt. You are here to lessen your guilt by knowing if I lived a perfect life".
Zameen holding her hand shaking her, "I know you did. Tell me".
She tries taking her hand off but Zameen pushed her resulting in her stepping on the broken glass pieces. They pierce her skin as the blood came out but she remained unfazed.
His eyes widen as he ran towards her to help her but stopped when she asked him to.
She looked at her mother smiling, "See, my life had been the same as how it is now. Are you happy now?".

Zameen gasped as she looked at her. Sarah turned around moving away.
"That witch, she-". Zameen started
Sarah turned around swiftly glaring at her, "That witch, is better than you". She pauses standing right in front of her, "She never abandoned me. No matter how much of a headache I was she never left me. So, don't ever say anything about my mother".
"I had reasons". Zameen yelled angrily
She chuckles, "Aren't you embarrassed?. I already know your reasons wouldn't it be embarrassing to say them in front of everyone".
"You don't-". Zameen started
"Girls are always a nuisance you shouldn't tie yourself down to her. You have a beautiful life ahead just send her to someone else". She repeated the words she heard hearing everyone gasps
"It's better if you leave her with someone. Girls are a huge responsibility and it is no use handling them when they aren't meant to stay with us forever. You should send her to the woman who just came to our community. I heard she was divorced and she had a second marriage but no child. She is very rich she will take care of her". She said the last words she remembers
"I don't know anything?. I know everything, you took the last suggestion pretty good. You left me right outside of her house. Good job, I have lived my best years with her now you can go and live the rest of your years too". She said walking or limping away
"I really don't like when you are hurt". He said angrily after the doctor left
She holds his hand smiling, "Its nothing".
"Do you think she will come again?". He asked cautiously
She shakes her head, "No, she won't. People usually like to hear what they want and if they don't they ask the same person again instead imagine what they want to. She will probably just keep thinking that having money kept me happy".
"I heard your mother (Humna) is admitted in hospital". He said sighing
"I guess that's the end". She said shrugging, "I will visit her tomorrow, alone".
She walked through the door of the hospital looking at different people with their problems. She opened the door to her door after a deep breath. As she walked inside she looked at the woman who used to do so much to her but now that her lord had taken away everything from her she laid like a person waiting for death.
Nothing stays the same forever.
Human is meant to die and the one who does something bad had to pay either in the world or afterworld.
"Ammi (mother)". She said walking inside and near her bed, "I heard you cannot speak anymore".
She sat down looking at her for the longest time and she keeps looking at the wall blankly.
"It's truly is amazing. Years back, when I was thrown at your gate, you took me in. Just when I started being closer to you, you started abusing me. I lost my voice then and then I lost myself too. Until, we had a new family moving beside us. Ahad's family, who took care of me for a few years and then ran away because of you. You never stopped your torture and look where you are today. No voice, movement and it's only your mind and eyes that work while you stay at this death bed. Why?. Why did you do this to me". She cried out and a tear espace Humna eyes
Because, Humna was an abandoned child too. She used to see herself in her (Sarah) and she wanted to end that. She wanted to make her (Sarah) stronger than how she used to be. In order to do that, she uses the worst way possible. But, deep down, she was sick. She was sick of all the abuses, acquisition and words she heard growing as a child that was abandoned.
She remained a child that was forced into adulthood and never understand the true value of anything. She remained stuck in her past and took it out on her. She thought of her as her possession she will always have control over. She wanted to feel what it was like to have control of people.
But, she lost herself and everything along with it.
She was gone from the world with her deeds to be questioned by her creator and nothing in her deeds could save her in her afterlife. Until the end, Sarah stayed by her side because even when she hated the woman she had grown attached to her in some sick way. Even when she hurt her, scar her and do so much she couldn't be heartless.
That was just who she was.
"She is actually no more". She said sighing, "Now, that I am actually free I have no idea what to do".
"How about we start from restarting our relationship?". He said holding her hand
She nodded.
"What's that smell?". She said confused
Her eyes widen when she realised that it was smoke coming from somewhere and they ran outside to find the same man who had been wanting to buy her standing outside there home. The fire was thanking a fake fire just to have them come outside.
"It's either you come with me willingly or I take you forcefully". The man said, "Now, even your mother is not here to protect you".
"She is not going anywhere with you as long as I am alive". Ahad yelled angrily pulling her behind him
"What do you mean by my mother protecting me?". She asked
"She had been since the day I offered her money. She had extra guards that were always hidden from your view and had been crushing me in business too. That only have my need to have you more though". He explained laughing at the end of the sentence
Her heart clenched.
Maybe, she had done too much to her.
She heard a loud gunshot and then everything went black.
She waited for her husband to open her eyes but he didn't just like he hadn't for a month. She remembers the shock she faced when she heard that after her blackout they had a fight to which her husband was shot by the man. The man lived and is in prison now.
She sighs.
She looked at him wanting to say so much but it's like her mouth is too dry for it.
She held his hand in her, "There is so much to say, Ahad. I wish you would come back soon so we can start our life, for real, this time. God, I remember the day you asked me to marry you, I didn't sleep the whole night. The reason I married you wasn't my revenge, it never was, it was all my feelings I understand now. The day after you proposed the marriage I saw you with someone and lost my mind. I didn't like it, at all. The other reason was you were the only one who always stayed in my mind. I miss you so much, please come back to me".
She cried.
"You are the only one for me, don't cry". He said softly
"If you try to take my chocolate one more time, You. Are. Dead". She said angrily protecting the bag in her hand
"Come on, it's just a few chocolates. It's not that big of a deal". He said
"Not that big of a deal?. It is for me, I have a craving and I don't like sharing when I have one. Go away". She said smiling at the chocolate bag
"I cannot believe it's been years but you still behave the same with me". He said
"Oh yeah, I never said I will change. That was a deal you were desperate to sign. Deal with it". She said smirking
"Oh, no, If I remember correctly after my desperation and your rejection, you were the one who agreed because of someone you saw with me". He said smirking at her annoyed face
"The more you annoy the closer you are to death". She said narrowing her eyes
"I cannot believe we married babies together". His father said looking at his wife
His mother nodded, "I agree. They are going to have a child of their own but they are still not grown".
She looked at him exasperated, "See, this is all your fault".
His eyes widen as he looked at her shocked, "How is this my fault?".
"If you have not been stealing my chocolate this wouldn't have happened". She argued
"And if you would have just let me eat some we wouldn't be called babies". He argued back
They looked at each other for the longest time until they break into a fit of laughter into doing what they were doing.
It had been the same, they would always argue but then just by looking at one another, they would start laughing. For once, her life was just not pain it was more than that. It was now filled with love, affection, care and most of all happiness.
It wasn't easy to walk on a road with a person who had been through trauma. There were hard days for them but they learned one thing from their own experience patience and knowing that they were made for one another. They were each other support system and something that means too much.
He wrapped his arms around her tightly as she sleeps peacefully. It was a time like these he would thank his lord to bring her back in her life and for answering all his prayers. He looked down at her glowing face that once used to fill with sadness and anxiousness. It still hurts him to know she been through so much but he had promised himself not to have sympathy neither make her think that those suffering made her weak and vulnerable.
Instead, he focuses himself and her on thinking and believing by heart that those struggles made her stronger. Lord put struggles for us to learn. Unfortunately, we start sympathising and having thought about "why me" that we forget that he does not let the thing that hurt us forever. Only if we believe in him life would be easier.
He smiled looking at her tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear as he leaned in kissing her forehead, "You were always the one for me".
That was his undying love for her until the end.

Voidsong (A NaNoWriMo 2018 winner)
Synopsys: The Empire thought humanity died, and forgot all about it. The Empire is mistaken. A Note From the Author: This story was written as a National Novel Writing Month 2018 entrant. As such, its entire 50,000+ word length was written between November 1, 2018 and November 31, 2018. Overall, I would consider this no more than a polished draft. In that vein, the chapters have no names, only numbers. Special thanks to Chronus on youtube for answering my questions on NATO radio procedures! My Apologies to the Finnish Language, which I have abused in (probably) unforgivable ways to create Twisted Empire names. If anyone is interested, break the names up by commas and toss them into your favorite translation program (I used Google Translate, and tried to avoid umlauts and other accents) for some semi bilingual boni. If I got something wrong (and I know I did… somewhere…) let me know over on reddit and I will see what I can do to fix the mistake. Lyrics, where included, are cited in footnotes.
