waiting for him to come back from where ever he went to. Her heart flutters like it hadn't for a long time especially after her mother death remembering how he protected her and fought for her.
She never had anyone fighting for her.
If anything they believe in giving up on her because she was useless. To have someone doing that was a moment her heart started to beat again bringing her back to the real world.
"Why are you still awake?". He asked confused
"I-I was waiting for you". She said softly
He looked at her smiling, "Why?".
"I-I wanted to say thank you and tend to your wounds". She said looking anywhere but at him
He winches making her beautiful eyes look at him in concern, "Sorry".
"No, it's fine". He said shrugging
"I can see". She mumbles causing him to chuckle
"You know you look beautiful when you are annoyed?". He asked playing with a strand of her hair
She shrugged, "Maybe".
"You looked beautiful that day you walked into my secret hideout being annoyed by me for no reason". He said
She blushes a little, "That was an honest misunderstanding and you were annoying".
"Oh yeah, you were a lot better than me, right?". He said rolling his eyes as he leaned back on the couch watching her closing the first aid kit
"I am better than you". She said walking him while he smiles at her retreating figure
"So, you are starting to like your husband?". Huma said smirking
"You are saying like it's a crime". She stated frustrated but blushing
"Yeah, the same annoying man you never want to see is someone you always want to see is actually fun for me". Huma said grinning
"I am never telling you anything again". She said groaning
"Is she annoyed by every person in her life?". Her husband said sitting beside her
She whipped her head towards him thinking if he heard something then to her friend who grinned at her.
"No, just the people she likes". Huma said shrugging ignoring her glare
Shehryar chokes on his food as his friend patted his back, "O-Oh, ok".
"What is your answer then?". Israr asked standing on the side of the university gate waiting
"I didn't marry her out of pity". He said sighing, "But, I want to clear the reason with her and make her happy before telling you".
"That's good enough for me". Israr said, "Who is that?".
He turned around looking at an unfamiliar man standing in front of his wife holding her hand which have his fist clenched as he strode near them.
She pushed the man away running away towards the gate without looking back but she bumped into someone almost knocking her down but stable her in a tight grip.

"Are you ok?". She heard her husband voice calming her down
She looked in his eyes scared, "Please, take me home".
The next day, she didn't go to university because she had a fever. He wanted to stay but he had an assignment and his mother didn't let him. The first half of the day he remained worried sick about her health.
He knew somehow it was connected to the event or more specifically the man from yesterday but he didn't wish to pressure her. He had no seen her that scared before and to have her look like that was awful.
He sighs.
He wanted to leave so he asked for a day off because he couldn't just sit around when his wife was sick at home. He went towards the door to find it open and walked inside frowning a little. He heard a few voices some he recognise other he didn't.
"You cannot come here demanding things". He heard his mother say
He walked inside the room to find the same man from yesterday and his mother sitting on the couch.
"Who is he?". He asked not liking his presence
"You marry her to him?". The man asked
"Yes, he is my son". His mother said shortly
"What does he have to be my daughter husband?". The man said causing his eyes to widen at his words
He feels someone holding his hand and the soft-touch told him it was his wife. He holds her hand tightly in his.
"Everything that you lack, Abbu (father)". She said sharply
Her father narrowed his eyes at her and Shehryar moved a little in front of her, "Careful, I am still your father".
"No, you are not. The day you left my mother after knowing how ill she was and needed you was the day you cease to be anything to me. My mother had my full rights and after her now my husband has them. He is everything a real man should be, nothing like you". She said angrily remembering the pain her mother bare for so long
"Who was he?". He asked as they sat down after a long day
She sighs turning to his side, "My father". She paused sniffing,"My Ammi (mother) found about her cancer at 9 and then my father left her right that moment saying he has no money to spend on her useless health and went to marry another woman. Never looked back at us".
He moved on the couch wrapping his arms around her pulling her to his chest, "Why was he here now?".
"Probably because of the house Ammi (mother) had. He took most of her belongings after marriage the house was the last thing she had after my father left so he couldn't take it then. He is back now to ask me to transfer that on his name and rule over my life". She said softly cuddling more into his comfortable touch

"That is not going to happen". He said firm
"Do you have an idea of how insulted I felt in that house?". Her father yelled angrily pulling her to the side
She frees her hand but he wouldn't let her make it painful for her.
"I don't care. You hurt my Ammi (mother) and she is no more". She said angrily
"I don't care either. All I care is you giving me back the house that belongs to me". Her father said
She scrunches her nose, "You are horrible. I will never give you that house".
"Your husband doesn't even care about you and you are acting up here. All I know is he marry you out of pity". He said
"No, he didn't".
"No, I didn't".
Shehryar and Nabiha said at the same time.
He pulled her hand away from her father pulling her behind her.
"I didn't marry her out of pity. I will respect you because you are my elder and her father but I do not want you anywhere near her unless she says so herself". He said
"Why did you marry me?". She asked again
He smiled looking at her as he tended to the red bruises on her face which still had him angry, "Because I love you. It happened the day Israr talked to you and then said he was interested in you. He said he will be sending his proposal at the end of the month and the whole time I was losing myself every day. I didn't want to agree to myself that I like you but when I had a chance to make you my wife and keep you away from him or any other male I took it. I would never pity you I lost my father when I was young I know how you feel".
That was what they needed. Acceptance of one another on their lips because they had accepted each other from their hearts long back.
"So, you are telling me that I cannot each Ice cream because I am sick?". She said challenging
He holds her hand, "Yes, you are not eating".
"I am sick of them". Their friend mumble
"I told you". He said standing in front of her bed
She hides her face inside her blanket, "Go away".
"Who I said I am leaving. There is no way I will leave my sick wife alone". He said taking the blanket off her red face, "God, you are so stubborn. I don't want that in my kids".
She narrowed her eyes, "Excuse me, your kids?. They will be my kid and with my attitude".
"They will be ours". He smiled at the thought, "But, with you being like this I doubt we will have any. First, I have to make you an adult then have children".
She rolled her eyes, "Leave".
He holds her hand tracing random circle, "No, I am not leaving. You can try everything in your power".
"I will not try anything to have you leave". She said softly
"So, now you are telling me that it was the best decision". His mother said smirking
"Ok, maybe not the best because I have a child in a grown body but good". He said groaning
"Oh really, why don't you find an adult then?". Nabiha said standing behind them
His eyes widen as he looked at his mother then at his wife.
"No, what do you mean?. You are the best decision ever". He said hurriedly watching her leave
He turned to his mother who was laughing, "You did that on purpose".
She shrugged chuckling, "You did it not me".
"She is going to kill me". He groaned
She sat on the couch reading the book she had loved for so long in peace. She knows he didn't mean what he said but it is much more fun watching him worried that she might be upset. She never had a man figure in her life and she was a man for her and her mother.
But, to have a man that is beyond her expectations of what a man could be is fascinating. For her, after her father walked away, the one person that is said and meant to be the guardian, protector, supporter and everything. Every single man after that seems the same. She would hear married, unmarried and more saying all sorts of things to her about man which had her more scared of being married.
But, being married now seems like a blessing. It was all because she believed in her mother and her lord.
"I didn't mean a word". He said sitting in front of placing his hand on her knees looking at her with pure genuineness, "You are the most important decisions that is worth everything else in the world for me".
She smiled.
He watched her smiling down at the rose he brought her. It was just they simple moment in his life where he would always look at her and even if she does nothing he would find himself smiling.
Maybe, that was true love.
Even after years, he could simply make her smile by the smallest things and her heart flutter at each moment they spend together. He was the one she needed as her everything maybe that was the reason she had no one for so long.
He walked closer to her taking the rose from her hand as he stood beside him smiling at him. He hold her hand as they walked side by side laughing together.
They were a blessing for one another.

8 172The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
