in a devastating situation before today has to be the most devastating of them all.

He looked down at the small child in his hands looking at the door in front of him wishing there was some power or anything that could tell him if his life in there was doing good.

She looked from the window of her small storeroom she had made her room since she was 6 years old. It was always her room, window and her loneliness that stayed with her all these years.

If she could tell anyone how deep she feels each of her emotions maybe they will break down for her but still she wouldn't be able to break. She was made into this by years of suppression she had felt.

She watched as the people freely walked out of the house and inside all day.

She sighs.

Tomorrow, she will be going back to her work. She wasn't a person who would take a break but the place she works at was like her family and they had forced her to have one break for herself. Little did they know that these breaks were harder than a day at work or even a month.

She had done nothing but hearing all sorts of things about her staying in for a week and being forced into labour work even the things that are not cleaned by hundreds of house worker was done by her. Not that she wanted to, but she had to.

She doesn't mind. She likes helping people to her best and never let anyone bring her bright spirit down. She managed to remember and learn only one saying from her own parents, Be kind to everyone and help however you can.

That was all she remembers, her father words always stayed in her heart and over years it was imprinted in her soul.

"MADIHA, ARE YOU GOING TO BE LAZY ALL DAY AND NOT DO A THING". She heard yelling of her aunt, as usual

The woman was one cunning woman she had seen. She never allows herself to think bad about anyone so she had just convinced herself that the hurt her aunt gave and continue to give is because Madiha was actually a burden she had to bear for no reason.

She went down where she can hear the sweet words of her aunt piercing her heart, "I have been feeding her for years and she cannot even do a little work for me. There is not much I ask her to do and she just leeches off of us".

"Let the poor girl live, Zunaira. She was working all day yesterday". Her uncle said making her smile

She entered inside to find them sitting on the couch. She smiles at her uncle and then looked at her aunt glaring at her and her smiles vanishes.

"What can I help with?". She asked politely smiling

Her aunt glare hardened, "What do you mean by that?. Go do all the work". She shouted angrily, "People were right that it's no use feeding someone else child".

Her heart clenched.

"Madiha, I took the tests from the labs and they found some chemical in the dead body". Her colleague said worriedly

"It's fine. I already knew she was wrong. I wanted her to be sure she can be saved to bring her to justice". She replied smiling lightly

It was a case that she loses.

"You lost your first case". Her senior said smirking at her

She sighs passing the paper to her colleague, "Hamid, winning might be your only goal but for me, bringing people to justice is. Congratulations on winning".

She looked through the papers looking at the time it was almost midnight. She had been home for many hours and after doing all chores she was able to look at her case. Being a lawyer was inspired by her uncle who had been a judge and wanted his son to be a lawyer. But, his son chooses another profession and she saw how sad her uncle was.

She remembers when she decided to be a lawyer how proud he was of her and that was something that she loved. Also, that when she graduated he was standing there with her like a proud father.

Father, a figure she had missed through her hard time. She wanted a father at so many places especially when she was afraid to face the world alone or when the world throw dirt at her. She wanted him to hold her hand then. She had no one.

Being on her own, she became selfless and now she would help everyone she possibly could because she wondered if they need a hand too.

The next day, she was in a hurry because she had an important client waiting for her. She looked at the watch and then at the road crossing. She found an elderly woman holding bags full of supplies on her own. She looked at her for a moment then hold her bags helping her to her destination.

The day went on successfully for her, she wasn't any ordinary lawyer. She was a famous one at that which brings all sort of things to her.

She walked back inside the house hearing shouting and crying. The sound that had her heart stopped was a soft small cry of a baby among the shouting of elder.

She frowns when she found Hussain and his newborn daughter (Lamar). Hussain was the son of her uncle who had left them years ago with his wife to live in a different house. She wasn't sure why but her aunt blamed her like every time.

She found Lamar eyes turning towards her and a small little frown forming on her head as her cries decreases. She looked into her beautiful round eyes that were filled with tears that she wished to remove but couldn't.

"Beta (daughter), you are home". She heard her uncle say breaking her trance

She smiles nodding.

"This is all because of this manhoos (bad luck) that stays in our house. She must have cursed you". Her aunt said causing her smile to vanish and be replaced by a painful one to hide the pain

"I will be in my room". She said walking away quickly before the tears fall down her face but yet one fell

She looked at herself in the mirror at the time like these she cannot think of anything but the dark thoughts of her. Sometimes, she wondered why she was left behind and why she wasn't dead like her parents. But, she knows, thinking this way was prohibited and one shouldn't do that.

But, at the weakest point, one could slightly move away from the right-thinking but also have to be sure that they don't do anything wrong.

She heard the crying coming from the other room beside her. The thoughts halted as her feet started moving near the sound. She opened the door and found Lamar crying alone in the darkroom. She remembers how she used to be afraid to be left alone in her room and used to spend all night crying for someone to be there.

She heard footsteps and hide inside a long closet. She watched as Hussain and his sleepy mother walked inside looking at the child crying. Hussain forwards his hand to her child but his mother stopped him.

"She is growing and she needs to learn how to stop crying on her own. If you help her now she will always disturb our nights of sleep". His mother said

"She is just 4 months, Ammi (mother)". Hussain argued

"Doesn't matter. Let's go". His mother said taking his hand moving away leaving a crying child behind

She heard the door closing and she wasn't sure what she was supposed to be doing. She wasn't a mother, never seen one and never heard of any (much). All she heard were tales about how kind, loving, supporting and amazing mother is and watching only one woman (her aunt) who was kind of a mother figure in her life she wasn't so sure.

She moved near the child carriage and her cries increasingly clenching her heart. She looked down at her with only moonlight coming in the room.

"Lamar". She said softly

She watched as her tightly shut eyes opened slowly filled with tears. She wipes them with her tiny fingers blinking at her and then actually looking at her. Madiha smiled softly looking at the beautiful girl in front of her.

"Do you want me to hold you?". She asked smiling

She forwards her hands and watched as the child immediately opened her hands for her to take her. Her heart melts as she held her in her hand bringing her to her chest patting her back.

"I am here now. You don't have to be scared anymore". She whispers in her ear, "I am sorry for coming late".

She held the child walking around in the dark as she feels her calming down slowly. Her hiccups remained still while she slowly went into sleep. She checked the child final needs walking away from the room.

The next few days, she would always sneak into the room quietly looking for anyone but she never found anyone. Somehow, she used her extinct to guide her to do what she possibly could for the child.

Hussain hadn't been hearing his child cries for a while. He wondered every night if what his mother said was true. But, the words and actions seem too wrong even he felt wrong when he would see his daughter in the morning.

He heard a soft cry of his daughter clenching his heart as he tried to stay in bed. But, when her cries decrease he walked towards her door which was slightly opened. He frowns walking closer to the door where he can hear a soft whisper and his daughter hiccups.

"It's ok. I am here now". He heard an unfamiliar voice say

He opened the door a little more looking inside as he found the figure cradling his child. His eyes went to his child who slept peacefully without care then to the reason for it.

His eyes remained on her as she walked from side to side making the child sleep to the sound of soft melody she sings.

The next day, she was able to pass her day quickly because she was excited to meet the new member that she had come to love in a few days. She had been learning about how and what a child could possibly need in times.

She walked inside the house to hear the cries of the baby and walked farther to watch his mother holding the child trying to calm her down. She watched as his father and he just watched worriedly.

"Why won't she stop crying?". His mother said frustrated

"Can I?". She asked smiling

"Don't even think about touching this child. Do you want him to have the same faith as you?". His mother yelled

Her face fell.

She walked to her uncle smiling, "I needed your help for a case".

Her uncle smiled tightly patting the place next to him. She heard the cries of Lamar continuously clenching her heart but she sat there speaking about the case.

He watched as his child remained crying and his mother words still in his head. For some reasons, he didn't like the way she spoke but he wasn't even sure what she meant to stop her.

"Here, hold her I am going to rest because of her I have a headache". His mother said placing the child on the couch

He looked as his child cried throwing her tiny arms around.

"Can I hold her?". He heard her soft voice ask

He turned around looking at her while her eyes remained on the baby reflecting the same pain as the child cries.

He nodded watching her pick his child and then calling her name to which Lamar immediately opened her eyes looking at her and a beautiful smile grace her lips.

She saw her sleeping in her arms with a smile when she received a call.

"The report is due tomorrow?". She asked groaning

"Yes, you know how he is when you don't do the work". Her colleague said chuckling

She rolled her eyes placing the child in her laps as she placed her lap and started the reports rocking her every time she whines.

"How did you do that?". He asked mesmerized

She diverts her eyes to him confused, "What?".

"Calm her down". He said smiling

She shrugged, "I don't know I just do what I needed the most".

Comfort. She whispers to herself

He frowned sitting in front looking at her while his father excused himself to work. He wasn't sure about the woman in front of him. He had never seen her and only heard about how disrespectful and more she is. It was like a hidden member of this family. After he left his house with his wife he had been so busy that he had no idea about his own family.

She was so different and the pull he felt for her was so different and strong.

That scared him.

Few more days passed and she was able to take better care of the child since it was approved by his father. She walked with her in her hands around the house making her giggle once in a while when she tickles her.

"Marry me". She heard him say making her heart stop
