, sleep well". She whispers lovingly
She walked towards the emergency room leaving the children's ward when she was called for a patient. Her team joined her giving her the details. She stopped just outside the door when she heard a mother crying her name.
"Please, save my son". His mother cried
She worked for five straight hours standing on her legs trying to save a patient who placed himself in this position himself. He collapsed five times during the surgery but each time he was back. She realised she needed to save this patient and prayed that she does.
"So, why was he here?". Her colleague asked curiously
"I have no idea". She replied
"Come on, Maha, you know by supplying a little information about him in media, that is going crazy outside our hospital gate, will have you make fortune". Her colleague, Nadiya said gleefully
She sighs.
After being done with writing and hiding his reports she had a session with her supervisor at how she treated a VIP patient like a normal person. For her, the doctor isn't meant to differentiate so she heard from one side and remove from another.
"Could you explain to us about his health?". His father asked as she walked out hearing a lecture
She nodded asking them to follow her to her cabin. They sat down and she saw how both the man and the woman were aged. The wrinkle was visible and their eyes were tired and red (crying). She felt her heart clench at the pain they had to go through.
"Your son is fine". She said watching them relaxed," He collapsed about five times but he managed to come back each time. We will have to keep him under sedatives and observation because he had committed suicide. The patient are highly sensitive when they see their tries fails. I had him drugged for a day so he heals a little. But, I suggest he stays here until his mind clear".
She saw his mother stressed face, "What do you suggest?".
"It may be not be approved but I would say to transfer him to children's ward. I know, I know, he is a VIP patient and we have special accommodation for them I promise he will not be treated less but he doesn't need the luxuries at the moment. He needs hope". She explained
The next day, he opened his eyes only to shut them not wanting to open them because he knows if he can open them means he had to face the world again. A world without her and with her pain.
"Is he going to open his eyes?". Some little voice said
"I saw his eyes on the internet they were pretty. I want to see them". Another sweet voice said
"So, ask him to open them". Another said
"But, I am shy". The sweet voice replied
"Kids, I told you not to sit on his bed". Someone else gentle voice said
"I swear, Appi (sister), I saw him opening his eyes". The sweet voice said
He opened his eyes hearing children voices he frowns looking at the children faces hovering over him. There were 2 boys (Azhar, Momin) and a young girl (Anabia).

"Woah! Your eyes are more pretty than in picture". Anabia said grinning shyly
"You searched for his eyes on the internet?". Azhar said irritated
Anabia crossed her tiny arms over her chest," Appi (Sister), said he was special".
His eyes turned to the older woman and saw her cheeks turning a little pink as she took the children down from his bed.
"I didn't mean it like that, Anabia. Now, please wait outside while I check him". She said patting her head
He moved restlessly as the children leave the room. She saw that and helped him in a sitting position. She checked his vitals and wrote them down.
"Are you the one who saved me?". He asked his voice gruff
She nodded, "Yes, I am".
"Why?. I didn't want to be saved". He yelled angrily
"Well, my job is to save lives and I did for the people who actually love you. You weren't there to tell me what you wanted". She replied shrugging
"Are you stupid?. Didn't you see that I killed myself that means I wanted to end my life". He said frustrated
She smiled, "Your wish was to die and my work is to save you. You can kill yourself over and over and I will keep saving you until you are tired. Trust me, I am not that easy to win from so you might not want to do this again". She replied opening the door of the ward but turned again looking at his sad face, "You might not be able to see what I can".
His parents were informed about him being awake. For the past half hour, he had been shouting at his own parents and she had been hearing it for a while. She was frustrated by him now.
She opened the door walking inside and their head turned to them, "He needs rest and the others are ready to come back inside".
She saw how his parent's faces were covered with worry but she smiled nodding to assure them as they walked outside.
"Why did you disturb our talk?". He said angrily
She narrowed her eyes at him strengthening herself, "If you shouting at the people who care for you is what you call talking I think your head is more messed up then I thought".
"You know, you said your job is to save me which also means I am paying you to keep me happy. You talking back to me makes me mad". He said smirking
She smiled sickening sweet smile bowing to him, "My Master, you have paid me good money to be at your service should I bow to you every time I come here?".
He looked at her bewildered and amused. She straightens herself back rolling her eyes at him.
"If that is what you want for your payment you will have to change your doctor. And if hurting others makes you feel good about yourself you can go ahead and do that. I would like to see how long you can do that". She said walking away leaving him

He looked at where she left tongue-tied no one had ever disobeyed him neither talk back. He was always treated as highly and no one dared talk back to him.
The door opened and he saw the three kids he had seen before coming in with her. But, his eyes widen when he saw the beautiful smile on her face as she talked to them. He almost thought earlier she wasn't capable of being sweet or genuine to anyone. But, she seems different now.
"Appi (sister), tell him my name". Anabia said shyly
Maha smiled looking at the sweet child her heartwarming at her sight. She hold her in her hands as she walked near the annoying man of the century.
"Khizar, this is Anabia, Azhar and Momin". Maha said smiling at the children around her while Anabia giggle at the mention of her name
He nodded not sure what to say or how to behave with children.
"Hi?". Khizar said after the children were looking at him expectantly
"Well, he is a boring one". Azhar said walking away with the other two nodding
Maha laughed at Khizar expression, "Don't worry. They are really good kids they will come around".
Khizar glared at her, "That is how kids behave with their elders".
She smiled, "You are the one to say?".
Again, he was tongue-tied as he saw the kids playing on a bed beside him not even looking at him. He looked at front of him where another child laid not moving.
He frowns, "Is he sleeping?".
The kids looked at him then at the kid that laid in bed, "He is always sleeping".
She walked back after her round back to the children's wards to find them sleeping beside the one big kid who wouldn't. He looked at the door looking at her going back to looking outside the window. She walked towards the sleeping child sitting beside him looking at him.
"Why should I live?". He asked standing beside her
She sighs, "I don't think me telling you reasons will make you".
"But-". He started but she cut off
"It's not easy for them, your parents, Khizar. You should have seen how broken your mother was by the fear of losing her child. Your father was barely standing on his feet trying to handle his wife and praying for his son. They are the people who brought you in this world, took care of you, loved you and have you grow in peace only for you to end your life for someone who never cares". She said
He chuckles dryly, "What do you even know how being a mother or her pain?".
She looked at him sadly, "Who knows".
After that a week passed, the children around him started speaking to him. They would be awake before him hovering around him and talking among themselves. But, their innocent talks always put him in peace.
"Look, Appi (sister), told me I am a fighter I never give up". Anabia said now more comfortable with him
He looked in her tiny hands that hold a cellphone with a video playing of a child trying to walk. He realised it was her trying to walk but she falls down.
"Look! I will stand on my own and then walk". Anabia said happily and proud
He saw her standing again on her own and then running quickly to the one who was filming her.
"She told me that I will have to be the same to fight my sickness and then I will be running around again". Anabia said innocently, "Are you a fighter?. Appi likes fighter".
He looked at her amused but before he could ask Azhar glared at him, "No, Appi doesn't like him".
"Who said I like her?". Khizar asked smirking
"You don't have to. I like her and that is enough". Azhar said grinning
Khizar rolled his eyes, "What do you kids even watch to say all this?".
He watched Anabia face fell she walked towards the door walking out. He looked at Azhar to ask him but he just glared at him walking away.
"What did you do now?". Maha asked coming inside looking at the sleeping child
"I didn't do anything". Khizar said defensively
"I believe you". Her voice was filled with sarcasm
"Hey! I swear. They were pairing us and I just asked why they did that-". He started but was cut off
"Anabia had been in this hospital as long as she could remember. She hadn't seen the world outside beside the few things on the internet, television or children books I bring her. She once asked me about her parents, they abandoned her, but she doesn't know. She is a curious child so she went into knowing about marriage since she didn't understand and asked me I explained her and showed her some pictures since then she wishes to see a marriage. She hope to see my marriage the most". She explained
His heart clench," She had been abandoned? But, she is an amazing kid how can parents do that?".
"You will be surprised to see how parents can actually turn out for others". She said softly but hurt visible
He walked with a small bouquet of flowers in his hand towards her. His steps were slow as he approached her. Once he was near, he bends down forwarding the flowers to her.
She squeals.
"Woah! They are beautiful, Bhai (brother)". Anabia said grinning at him
His heart warmed at her calling him brother.
"I am sorry about earlier. Do you want to go to the rooftop with me?". He asked quietly
"Appi will be angry". Anabia said
"She is always angry". He replied shrugging holding her in his arms as they secretly walked to their path
Anabia giggles when Khizar hides seeing Maha coming towards their path. Khizar placed a finger on his lips to keep Anabia quiet but he was too late.
"Where are you both sneaking to?". She asked placing a hand on either side of her

MeiQ: Lore of the Labyrinth
Omaros City lays near one of several Yggdrasil trees that are scattered around the world. Each tree holds an entire labyrinthine ecosystem within or beneath it, yet the mysteries of their origins and what lays in their depths are only ever unraveled by the most skilled and courageous of explorers. Exploration of Omaros' Yggdrasil labyrinth is still in its fledgling stages, drawing in many with the allure of fame and glory that has yet to be claimed. Enter the harbinger Dubhan—cheerful, determined, and not terribly skilled at thinking ahead—and warlock Allouet— intelligent and resourceful, but desperately in over his head. Together, the two of them have half an idea of what they're doing at best, but that's not going to stop them from aiming for the labyrinth's unknown depths. MeiQ is, at its core, a fanfiction inspired by the Etrian Odyssey franchise, alternatively known as Sekaiju no Meikyuu in Japan. Despite that, it is written with the intent to be enjoyable by those unfamiliar with the series as well. The characters and the city of Omaros are original, while the story draws upon lore and recurring concepts from the game series. However, Etrian Odyssey is known for its lore being sparse and open to speculation, so much of the details provided in this story are exactly that—a fan’s speculation and personal expansion of the lore. This story was also inspired by and written as part of HereBeTreasure's Fast Food Frontpage Competition, enjoy some simple dungeon exploration plot and whatever else pops up from this.
