She waited and waited outside of the hospital room door where her mother was being treated for some time now. Fortunately, her mother was not unconscious and ran away too which helped Aayan in pulling her away from the room.

Police, was investigating how it happened as they said it seems intentional which scares her a lot. She never wanted anyone to be troubled by their presence. Her mother or her own and it seems like they have been troubling Aayan's family a lot lately. She couldn't stand here anymore she needed to cry so she quietly walked away from there to the rooftop for some air.

Aayan, had been handling the police and stayed in the hospital where his family was to support them but mostly to support her. He knows she needed him more than ever. He had seen the fear of losing her mother when they were bringing her to hospital and then her pacing in front of the door. He had seen her small hands clench in a fist clearly showing she was breaking.

He never wanted her to break down so much. But, it seems since they are in this place nothing good had come. She had been in more and more pain which pains him too. He had been watching her for about four hours now and he saw how she walked away from here.

He asked his brother to inform him of any changes and followed behind her reaching the rooftop where she stands crying to herself.

His heart-breaks.

He walked closer to her as her back was towards him he wrapped his strong arms around her shaking body.

"Ammi (mother), will be fine, Mahira. Trust me. Allah will heal her just pray for her". He said tightening his hold around her

She turned around hugging him tightly, "Please, don't go".

He hugged her back kissing her head lovingly wrapping his arms around her for comfort.

"She is fine now. It was just a little smoke entered her system. But everything is good you can take her home tomorrow". The doctor explained

Mahira released the breath she was holding and Aayan tightened his hold on her hand.

"Thank you, doctor". She said smiling

The doctor nodded and it was time to visit her mother. She looked at Aayan and he nodded his head smiling. She smiled walking inside the room leaving Aayan's hand and walked near her mother.

"You scared me, Ammi". She said with fake anger

"Us". Aayan said standing behind her

Mahira glared at him but smiled anyway.

"Beta (daughter), I couldn't save your function clothes". Her mother said sadly as she knows how much Mahira loved them

"Arey, Ammi (oh, mother), clothes even if I wear my normal ones I will look good. I don't care about clothes it's only you". She said kissing her forehead

"Woah, my Mahira had grown up now. The Mahira I know will die for her things". Her mother joked

She smiled sadly, "It wasn't worth your life, Ammi (mother). I need you more than some clothes".

After that day, her mother was back in the house and the preparation was on again. However, Mahira had to wear her everyday clothes because they don't have enough money to spend again on clothes. Her father sends a calculated amount which goes for her studies and house expenses. They were saving for the wedding for a while and Mahira did a small job for it too. Now, they don't have any money.

Mahira was busy with the lighting in the house and she wasn't sure how to exactly put them. She was on the backside of the house wanting every corner to be filled with lights.

Aayan had been trying to find her for some time now. It's getting irritating already he has no idea how she always manages to annoy him without even doing anything. He had searched almost all the house and now even the worry started coming back and the memories of what happened that day.

"She is at the back of the house, alone". He heard his brother say

He was drinking water and he chokes on it looking at his brother as he calms himself down.

"I was not looking for her". He said quickly

"Sure, you weren't. Backside". His brother said smirking as he moved away

Aayan shakes his head at his brother behaviour because he is far from how he was acting right now. He quickly ran to the back door moving towards the side of the house where no one was. He looked around and shakes his head again that Mahira was one crazy woman.

He walked further when he heard a groaned and looked at the ladder and his heart stopped. There she was in between the lights shining along with them. She somehow managed to trap herself in the lights and now was fighting them off.

He chuckles as he went back in taking the stairs towards the balcony and to where she was. He stands on the side of her and she was so busy fighting the wires that she didn't even look at him. He smiled looking at the cute frown on her face and then hold her arm pulling her towards him.

Her eyes widen as she looked at him and then his smile causing her heart to flutter.

"Aayan, you scared me". She said softly

"You did too". He said smiling, "What are you up to? As much as I know lights were for the house".

She looked at him with a little blush adorning her cheeks she smiled sheepishly at him. He looked down at her and his eyes slightly widen looking at the beautiful sight. She looks so beautiful.

He tapped her nose and she looked at him annoyed.

"You just looks so cute, Meri Jaan (my life)". He said smiling charmingly

Her heart flutters as the blush deepened.

"What did you just say?". She asked looking in his beautiful eyes

He traces the blush with the back of his hand, "What did I just say?".

"What are you here for?". She asked

"You". He said smiling

He moved a little back removing the wires around her and helping her out of them still having her close even after the wires were no more on her. They looked into each other eyes smiling.

"Aayan, mother is calling if you are done then go". He heard his brother said laughing

He groaned a blush appearing on his face too and she giggles looking at him.

"Oh, someone is caught". She teases

"Not funny". He said hiding his smile, "Anyway, what will you wear tomorrow for Henna function?".

She shrugged as they stepped on the ground, "I was thinking of wearing that dress I wore on your birthday".

"That is a good dress but that was a year ago". He said thoughtfully

"Well, don't you keep tabs on me". She said smirking

He shrugged walking away to his mother asking what he had to do. After, some more work Sumaira came running to Mahira asking her to come with her to the market.

"Sumaira, I am not leaving this house without Aayan". Mahira said stern

"I will come". Latif said standing beside her

"No, I am going with them you can do the work". Aayan said as he holds her hand pushing her in the front seat

He asked Sumaira to quickly sit in and then he too before Latif could come with them. He started the car speeding to the road.

"God, you are acting weird but then again when are you not". Mahira said

Aayan turned to her grinning tapping her nose and she slapped his hand away.

"Don't do it". She said angrily

"I love doing it". He said smiling

"Idiot". She mumbles smiling to herself

They stopped at the mall and she stepped out after Aayan, staying near him not wanting to be lost again. Aayan felt her hesitation held her hand in his as they walked further inside the shops.

Aayan stood at some distance as Sumaira selects dresses and Mahira was just looking at her until Sumaira went away and now Mahira was looking at the red colour dress which had a little design on it. But she saw the price and placed it back.

"Why would you do that?". Aayan asked

"I don't have enough money, Aayan and I can't buy it". She said there was no need for hiding he already knows

"Well, you do have money and a lot of it for a matter of fact". He said smiling

She frowned, "Did I robbed a place in my sleep?".

Aayan chuckle forwarding his card to her, "No, but you did manage to have a husband".

She raised her eyebrows, "Oh, and here I thought you wanted to keep it a secret".

He shrugged holding her hand and placing the card, "What If I don't want to hide it anymore?".

"What do you mean?". She asked confused

"Nothing. You will know for now buy everything you like and that red dress is definitely a yes from me". He said smiling

Then on, she bought a dress for all the three functions and went back home with it. She saw the disapproving look in his external families eyes and she felt bad but then she remembered his words.

It's a husband duty to fulfil his wife wishes I am just doing my duty, Meri Jaan.

She smiles to herself placing her things on the bed as her mother smiled at her happiness. She walked outside crashing into Latif and she immediately moved back.

"Can you move?". She asked when he wouldn't move

"I wanted to talk to you about something". Latif said smirking

"Aayan". She yelled and Latif looked behind him but there was no one

While Mahira ran away from him and without looking she just ran. Aayan heard his name being called but no one here looked like they called him. He shrugged looking down at his book he was reading for assignment when he saw a panicked Mahira coming closer to him.

"What's wrong?". He asked worriedly

"C-Can you hold my hand?". She asked and he immediately holds her hand in his allowing her to calm down

"I don't like your cousin, Aayan". She said looking down

"What did he do?". He asked angrily

"I don't know he is always everywhere I go and it scares me. Then, he would sometime touch me on hand or so and I have asked him many times not to. Today, I was walking when we bumped into each other and I asked him to move and he said he wanted to talk to me blocking my path so I yelled your name and ran away. I was so scared". She explained holding her tears

"Hey! I am here. I will speak to him. He will not disturb you. Look, what I brought for you". Aayan said controlling his anger

"What is it?". She said curiously

He forward her favourite cotton candy he found earlier when he went to the market and bought it with the thought of her smiling face.

She squeals holding the bag from his hand and started eating it with an actual smile on her face.

"You know how much I love eating this. I can eat it all day". She smiled at him

He nodded smiling.

"Beta (daughter), your mother is calling you". Aayan's mother said worriedly

Mahira looked at Aayan and they moved to her mother room where she was with Latif and his family.

"Jee Ammi (yes, mother)?". She asked sitting beside her

"Beta (daughter), Latif's parent had asked your hand in marriage". Her mother said dropping the bomb

Mahira and Aayan heart stopped and break at the same time.

"Ammi?". Mahira said shocked

"They said they are ready to accept you". Her mother explained

Mahira frowned, "What do you mean by accepting me?".

"You are not like normal girls. You always cause trouble and your attitude is not want any man will accept. You can't cook and now you are studying in a man field. Sofia told us your class has only two girls and we cannot even imagine how many boys you are in contact with and then you spend a night outside of the house". Naziya, Aayan's phupi said smirking

Mahira heart breaks as she looked at her mother with teary eyes, "You believe their words over your daughter".

She didn't even let her mother speak, "I may be spoiled and not the most perfect girl and if no boy accepts me I don't care but I will never marry Latif".

She ran away from the room leaving everyone silent.

"That is the attitude I told you about. She has no respect for her elders". Aayan's Chachi said

"No, she has respect for those who respect her. Is this what you all have been doing for these weeks that you were quiet. Ammi, she is your daughter who had fought so many battles with you and she believe you more than anyone else and you allowed these people to manipulate you. She is the most amazing, strong and beautiful person I have seen in my life. Even after going through so much she always remained strong and just because she can't cook or like to speak up to people you downgraded her?. If her cooking or studies makes you insecure that is your problem, not her. She is perfect the way she and there is a man who will accept her the way she is. I don't want these people in the house anymore, Baba (father). She will never marry Latif or anyone else who cannot respect her ". He said walking after her

He looked everywhere from her room to outside but he couldn't find her until he remembers where she must be. He walked to the same balcony at the backside they shared their first moment together. She liked to stay in quiet places and that was the only place.

He saw her sitting on the ground with her arms wrapped around herself crying. He sighs as much as he wanted her happy she is always hurt.

"Meri Jaan (my life), the weather is too nice isn't it?". He asked sitting beside her

She sniffed looking at him, "Am I really that bad?".

His heart breaks as he turned to her passing her a sad smile. He forwards his thumb wiping her tears away shaking his head.

"You are hot-headed, you don't know how to cook or clean. You speak your mind out and always do everything on your own. Yes, you have those things but they are a part of who you actually are, Meri Jaan. You are a strong woman who can do everything she wants to without waiting for a man, you are exceptionally good at a field that is associated with only men. You respect people who you love but you never allow anyone to disrespect you. You have a lot to yourself then you show to others and it is ok to not come up to some people standards sometimes there are many who appreciate you for who you are". He smiled

"But she said no man will accept me or marry me". She cried

He chuckles lightly kissing her forehead, "You already have a man who accepted you and marries you. That point is pointless don't you think?".

She giggles at his words and he tapped her nose smiling.

"Yes, that is true. I have you". She smiled

"Always". He said smiling

The day went on, with no one saying anything. Mahira hasn't spoken to her mother after her words still hurt her heart. Today was Henna function and she was preparing for that. She looked down at herself one last time before walking away.

The bride will be here in a few minutes and all the men were out of the house. She giggles when she remembers Aayan's expression when he was kicked out too.

The function was the best like she had planned and now her hands were almost filled with Henna too. She looked at Aayan's mother looking at her with tear tears filled eyes so does her mother but she had no idea why.

"You look so beautiful. Like a bride". Aayan's mother said patting her head lovingly

"Do you want to write someone name?". The henna artist asked

"Oh, yeah, write Aayan's name". Sumaira said to the artist

Mahira eyes widen as she looked at Sumaira who was giggling to herself. She didn't say against Sumaira words instead her heart beat a little more at having his name written in her hands. After the function ends, everyone was in their rooms since they were tired.

She sat pouting on her bed because she hadn't eaten and her mother wasn't free to feed her. She groaned in annoyance looking down at her hands. She wanted a dark colour so she is paying for that but she will make Aayan pay for it too.

She looked down at where his name was hidden in her henna and smiled to herself.

"Is the henna so good that you are smiling like this?". She heard someone say causing her to shriek

She looked at the invader and it was none other than her own husband coming in her room like a thief.

"Aayan, can't you act more like a human than a monkey. Then again, you are a monkey". She said shaking her head with a smile

"Yeah, yeah, your poor husband jumped a tree to come to see you and here you are insulting him". He said sitting in front of her

"Oh my poor husband, are you sad that I didn't praise you for your monkey skills?". She teases making a sad face

"It's not funny. You have any idea we were kicked out of our own house with no food, clothes, enough money or even our wives". He whined laying on the bed

"Oh God, how did my husband survive then?". She asked with a fake gasp

"I don't know about others but I was clever and jumped in your room all this time". He said shrugging

Her eyes widen, "What?".

"Shh..shhh, woman you want me to be caught". Aayan said hurriedly

"You stayed in the house all this time?". She asked

"Genius right?". He asked smirking

She shakes her head, "What will I ever do with you?".

"Live with me and love me?". He suggested

"Don't annoy me, Aayan, I am already dying of hunger. Ammi is so mean". She whined

He tapped her nose lovingly, "That's why your husband is here. Look".

She turned around to find a box of Pizza and her eyes widen. She hugged Aayan running to the Pizza box but stopped when she can't open it. She frowned and looked at Aayan sadly.

He chuckles, "Drama Queen, obviously, the reason I am here is to feed that stomach of yours".

She smiled widely at him and his heart skipped a beat as she walked towards him. He picked the Pizza bringing it near her mouth but pulled back smirking.

"I was just thinking I have worked so hard for you what will I get as a reward?". He said

"My happiness?". She replied

He shakes his head thoughtful, "That was the main reason but nope I need something too".

"What do you need?". She groaned angrily because of her hunger

"Kiss". He said
