《Destiny That Binds Us》Prologue

As the car wheels turned over the wet track, I peeped my head out of the Window, allowing the cold rain to splash on my face and as the speed increased, I could feel the cold breeze brushing against my cheeks harder than it would have been, if I had chosen to walk back home .
I love everything related to rain. Even the word Rain can bring a broad smile on my face, and has its own impact on me.
Rain has always been my calming sound. When I was little my mother would play rain sounds to lull me to sleep.
Everytime it rains, I know that something very special is going to happen to me. A heavy pour down has always been lucky for me.
It was already midnight and I couldn't even have a glance at the moon, as it was neatly wrapped by the Dark clouds. Aisha chose to drop me back home after a tiring day , well nothing much, just shopping after college hours and then stayed at Aisha's house for some time--no quite a long time.
Well, the reason is not because Aisha is my friend. I have my own selfish reasons.
"Suha, Why did you open the windows?! Close it, the seats are getting drenched !!" Aisha shrieked, maintaining her gaze between me and the road ahead.
She is a total contrast to me. She doesn't admire nature as much as I do.
"I won't!" I almost squealed with delight as I tried to splash some water on her.
"Stop it Suha!!" She squealed.
"I won't. Tell me when you will set me up with Vivaan?! "
"What?! That's not going to happen in this lifetime, ask someone else for help!!"
"Come on Aisha, you are my bestest friend, only you can help me!! Don't back off please" I pouted.
"Oh no Suha, For God's sake he is my brother and to make him fall in love with you, you are asking help from his own sister?!" She sighed as the car turned right.
"So what? There are no restrictions as such so better help me."
"Whatever!!
Hey, actually coming Saturday we are holding a party at home, it's Vivaan bhai's--"
"-- Birthday! Of course,I know Aishu, You think I didn't know, afterall he is my crush!
Even if you don't invite me, I would be there." I chuckled sheepishly.
"Hmm, so what have you planned for his birthday?" She smirked.
"I got this designed for him. Look at this!" I carefully took out the glass box and opened it.
"Is that a ?" She asked trying to maintain equal concentration on the road as well as the gift.
"Yeah, it's a personalized gift, See here!" I pointed out the Alphabet and Alphabet hanging separately with a small in between on the thin golden bracelet "
"Ohh, for Vivaan and for Suhana!!
I see..." She teased me with a tone making me blush.
"I hope he will like this and at least after seeing this, I hope he realizes that I love him! " I sighed dreamily, holding the bracelet tightly in my palm.

Aisha Mehra is my college friend, we are doing First year in medicine. Which practically means that I have known Vivaan since one year. He is the . He comes to college at times to pick Aisha. They share this thick bond between SIBLINGS, which me and lack. Girls drool all over him whenever he comes to our college.
And that's the reason why I chose to stay at Aisha's house for some more time today, So that I could have a glance at him.
"--Hey suha-- look over there!" Aisha said as she pressed the brakes immediately on seeing a , which was neatly parked against a huge tree trunk.
Wait--It wasn't parked.
"Shit! It looks like an accident isn't it?!" I moved my gaze towards Aisha who was staring at me with an expression 'Seriously-Suha?!'
Without wasting another second, I paced out of the car, and moved towards the car as I let tiny drops of happiness embrace my body.
"Suha! Be careful, Aisha screamed as she got down from the car.
I slowly moved towards the Black Rolls Royce which was almost in the worst condition ever against the tree.
With a shivering hand, I quickly pulled the car handle as I opened the door and saw a man in his early 20's with his head against the steering wheel.
"Aishuu!! Come here!" I screamed.
For hell's sake, I am doing my first year in medicals, why am I feeling nervous on seeing him?
"Suha, why are you standing still, check for his pulse!" She screamed from the other side of the dark road as she was trying to cross the road.
The dark night was making it even more scary and spine-chilling for me.
Making up mind, I lifted his hand and looked for his pulse. I could hear a faint pulse, his heart trying to beat with all it's difficulties for a reason.
"Aishu, I think we need to take him to the hospital!" I screamed as she crossed the road and reached my side.
Dumping his Rolls royce on the road, we took him to Aisha's car, and I made him rest in the backseat as I slowly placed his head on my lap, while she moved towards the driver's seat.
Thank God, she drives well. I am a born disaster with a bunch of clumsiness aligned together.
"Hey!! Mr.Whatever, Look at me!" I patted his cheeks gently.
His subtle was making him even more attractive and handsome.
Ohh no-- Suhana concentrate!! .
As I saw him twitch his eyebrows, I lifted his closed eyes and could see a slight movement in his eyeballs and realized he hadn't lost his consciousness completely.
"Hey listen buddy! Look at me, Come on don't lose your consciousness. See, you need to live! You have a reason, someone special out there, is waiting for you. So--" I gasped when he grabbed my wrist.
I remained frozen for a second unaware what to do next.
"You are going to make out through this, don't worry!" I assured him and moved my gaze towards the front seat at Aisha.
"Aisha go fast , he is injured very badly, and he has lost a lot of blood too!" I reminded her again.

"Yeah, we are almost here Suha, make sure he doesn't lose his consciousness!" She told as we entered the hospital premises.
Immediately a stretcher was brought, as the nurses and the ward boys helped Mr.Whatever, as the stretcher strolled inside the hospital premises.
"Doctor!!" I yelled out as he was rushed into the ICU, while Aisha was still out there.
After half an hour, Doctors and nurses came out.
"Doctor, his head was bleeding. Hope it's not serious." I was confused.
"Nothing to worry, they were only External injuries, no internal injuries, Moreover we have done a CT scan. But-- "
"But what doctor?"
"His right shoulder is not in a good condition. The soft tissue---"
"Shoulder soft tissue injury? " I asked, confused.
"Medical student?" She asked, amazed as I slightly nodded.
"Yeah, the muscle has experienced a thickness tear, so a small surgical intervention is required to repair this tear!"
"Okay doctor"
"Okay, please fill the forms, so that we can proceed with the surgery" The doctor informed and left.
After some minutes a nurse proceeded towards me with a paper and pen.
It was the form to be filled. But I have no idea about that patient. His name or details. Nothing, I know nothing about him.
Confused, I wrote it as Flynn in the Patient's name box.
"Ma'am, also fill that box on how you are related to him" The nurse pointed to the check box, which was at the end, in that form.
I almost decided to tick the check box, when Aisha joined me and murmured "Suha, they won't proceed with the surgery if you are not related to him!"
I almost didn't know what to do, I stood still, when Aisha grabbed the form from my hand and "Let me fill the form for you, I can understand you are upset with your husband's accident " She said dramatically and ticked the Checkbox which meant
"You are his wife?" The nurse asked, confused.
"Uh-huh" I was stammering when Aisha interrupted me saying, "Yeah, she is kinda petrified on seeing him like in such a condition, that's why she is speechless right now."
"Okay fill the form and submit it in the Reception!" The nurse said and left.
"Stupid, why did you say I am his wife?" I screamed, maintaining a low tone.
"Suha, otherwise they won't proceed with the surgery. Is that fine for you?" She asked, leaving me to shut my mouth.
"Okay fine. Whatever " I muttered as I peeped inside the ICU from outside, as I saw him lying with his head and wrist bandaged.
"Suha, well--they are asking for your name, shall I--"
"No-No don't write my real name, Just write something else"
"As his name is Flynn, shall I write your name as Rapunzel ?" She smirked.
"Shut up!
Just write it as Mrs.Flynn !" I said, annoyed.
And the surgery took place after a few hours, I also paid for the surgery though Aisha offered to pay for the expenses.
Mumma was continuously calling to make sure I was safe.
It was around 1:30am, when the doctors rushed out of the ICU and stated that,"He has lost a lot of blood, we need to contact the blood bank as his blood group is rare!"
"What is his blood group doctor?!" I was confused.
"Doctor, Even my blood group is O-ve, I can donate my blood" I agreed and was rushed by the nurses.
O-ve is one of the rarest blood groups, But that guy is really lucky that I found him, else he would have been pushed into a rough phase without enough blood, I wondered as the nurses gave me some fresh juice after donating my blood.
Around 3am, the doctors came out and said that the surgery was successful.
"What happened to Sir??" A middle aged man all of a sudden paced towards us.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I am his P.A, we located him with his Watch's GPS. Don't worry we will take care of him, you can leave!" He sounded a bit rude.
"Okay come let's leave Suha!" Aisha pulled me.
"But--he---We can leave once he wakes up!" I stated, I didn't want to leave him alone.
"No need Suha, his Assistant has come and also the surgery is successful, let's leave, it's already 3:30 am!" She sounded tired.
"Okay!" I said gloomily as I peeked through the glass door and had a glance at him one last time and we left the hospital.
"Well, we have reached your home, Go sleep at least now!" Aisha sounded tired.
"You also come na, It's already too late, You can leave home tomorrow!" I told her and she agreed after informing her mom.

"Suha, wake up!!" Mumma screamed into my ears as I woke up sluggishly and stretched my arms.
"When did you come back home?" From her voice itself I could recognize that she was going to give me a big lecture.
After advising on how girls should be and what time I should be back at home and all stuff, Mumma left my room.
I turned to my right and saw Aisha deep asleep.
"Well--I am bunking college today Aish!" I whispered into her ears.
"Okay, Me too then!" She murmured against the pillow.
I took a bath and laid back on the bed again as I was tired. I seriously couldn't take my mind off of that man.
All these years, I had thought that Rain always makes me happy and brings me good luck. But I wasn't feeling comfortable with whatever that happened yesterday night.
Somehow that guy was haunting my mind, only then I realized.
"Aishaaaa!!!" I shrieked.
"What happened?!" She woke up immediately and rubbed her eyes confused.
I continuously dug my hand in my bag hunting and hoping to find it.
"What happened Suha, tell me!!" She asked again.
"" I looked at her confused.

This is my first attempt at writing a story. I am a complete beginner at this. The closest thing to an organized story I’ve ever written is essay reports back in high school. There might be syntax errors and weird language all over the place. So, apologies in advance. I’ll be trying my best to make this story as interesting as possible, and with your feedback I am sure I can make something nice out of it. Constructive criticism is appreciated. And you are welcome to comment any errors you might notice. I’ll try to fix them up as soon as I can. For now, I don’t have a schedule. But if the story gets traction, I will try to work something out. **Cover Image Drawn by me.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
