《Someone Like Adam》71. Confessions

The voice of phone ringing was coming from the pile of clothes lying on the ground. I was too tired to stand up or even move so I just kept lying in my original position, with my face buried in his warm chest and Adam's strong arms keeping me close to himself. In the silence, I could even hear his breathing which was in sync with mine.
We spent the last hour exploring each other's bodies, doing things neither of us had done before. Something about Adam made me feel good about myself, even when I was naked and even when I could count my imperfections on fingers. His touch made me feel like I was precious to him, like I was the most beautiful girl in the world.
The prom was over for more than an hour now but neither of us wanted to leave this place. I didn't even know how we would leave the school now that the main gate might be closed but he told me to leave this matter on him.
"Aren't you gonna answer it?" he asked and I raised my head to look into his beautiful eyes. This look suited him, the one that screamed we just made love. His hair was messy, few locks falling on his forehead, there was a tint of redness on his cheeks and his lips were swollen with all the kissing.
"No." I responded and placed a small peck on his lips. He smiled against my lips and turned me around so that he was hovering over me. I giggled when he once again started peppering small kisses on my neck.
We were in the middle of our make-out when the phone started ringing again, this time it was Adam's phone.
"That's strange. Nobody calls me except you." he said, his brows furrowed in confusion.
Despite my protests, he moved to check his phone after placing a kiss on my forehead, leaving me frustrated at the loss of warmth. I enjoyed the sight of his shaped behind as he checked his phone, drooling at his perfect body.

How did I get so lucky?
"Sophia?" he said, frowning in confusion. I straightened to sitting position as he answered the call. His expressions changed when he heard what she was telling him and my own heart started beating faster in curiosity. He cut the call and turned his attention back to me. "It's Emily."
...
As soon as the car stopped in front of Emily's house, both Sophia and I walked out of the car and rushed inside in full speed. Few minutes ago, Sophia called Adam and told him to pass the phone to me. She told me that Justin called her to tell that Emily was distraught after Damien tried to force himself on her.
I couldn't even explain in words how much I wanted to kill him at that moment. We considered him a nice guy with a pure heart but what he did was unforgivable. I couldn't wait to get my hands on him.
Reaching Emily's room, I stepped inside first and rushed towards her to envelop her in a hug. Sophia joined us too and hugged her from the other side. I heard closing of the door, indicating that Justin had left the room. Once he left, I parted from her and checked her for any sign of injury. There were bruises on her legs, covered in ointment
"I'm going to kill him." Sophia fumed in anger. "That worthless cunt."
"Take me with you." I sided with her.
Emily let out a small sob and hugged her knees. "I really liked him. I... I don't.." Her voice broke down. "I don't know why he did that."
I hugged her and drew comforting circles on her back. "He didn't deserve you Emily. He didn't deserve an angel in her life."
"Yes. Don't waste your brain cells on such a jerk. We will go and teach him a lesson tomorrow." Sophia said.
"Justin had already beaten him to pulp." she whispered. "He saved me, he saved my dignity."
That made me ashamed a little because I've always bashed Justin for what he did but when I was busy shagging with my boyfriend, he was the one who actually took care of her.

"He had warned me before but I didn't listen." she said and pouted.
"It wasn't your fault." Sophia said and pulled the blanket over all three of us. We decided to sleep over at her house so she won't feel alone or spend the night crying.
...
"I was the one who introduced Emily to that dick." I whispered, drawing different patterns with my fingers on Adam's shirt. Resting my head on his chest, I was enjoying his warmth.
He ran fingers through my hair, soothing the scalp and relaxing my mind. "It's not your fault."
"But what if it is?" I grieved.
"It's nobody else's fault expect him." he replied. "There was no way for you to know what he actually wanted."
"Hmm." I hummed.
"Have you prepared your valedictorian speech yet?" I asked, changing the topic, burying my head deeper into his chest.
"No. Why did they have to choose me? I suck at giving speeches." he pouted.
"Maybe because you have the highest GPA." I pointed out.
"Whatever." he frowned and stood up. It was already 7pm, the time at which Dad returns from work. And even though he was fine with our relationship, he still didn't like the idea of us lying next to each other on a bed because 'apparently', it can lead to other things.
"It's your Mom. Right?" he asked, standing in front of her photo. It was in the dining room before so he might not have noticed it.
"Yeah." I answered.
"She's really pretty." he admired and I nodded in acknowledgment. "How come you didn't inherit her good looks?" he said in a teasing voice and I chucked the pillow at him.
He chuckled in return and made way towards the bed again. "What now?" I asked, frowning. Ignoring my question, he kneeled down and pressed a lingering kiss on my lips. Breaking the kiss, he lay down with his head on my lap. I pushed some brown locks awar from his forehead and traced his square jaw. It was definitely his most beautiful feature.
"Can I ask you something?" he asked and I nodded. "How did she die?"
"Cancer." I whispered. All the happiness left my mood, leaving behind the dark memories of her last days.
"I was ten when she was diagnosed. Those two years were the worst years of my life. Watching her health decline slowly, watching my Dad crying all day, it was the worse feeling one can feel." my throat felt clogged at her mention.
Adam raised to sitting position in front of me. Cupping my cheeks, he pulled me onto his lap and engulfed me in a hug.
"She would have liked you." I said and smiled weakly.
"I'm sure." he said.
"You would have liked her too. She was a mother hen." I told him and he smiled. Cupping my cheeks, he placed a tender kiss on my cheeks.
"You are really strong." he said.
"Not more than you. I had my father with me the whole time but you were alone." I replied. "Watching someone else have the life you deserved, I can't even imagine how difficult it was for you."
"It doesn't matter anymore. I have you now." he said and whispered against my lips. "I love you Alicia." Saying, he kissed me one more time.
My heart stopped at the L word and my mouth hanged open. When I didn't return his kiss, he pulled back and gaped at me with guilt-stricken face.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that. I didn't want to pressure you. I won't mind if you.." I cut his sentence by claiming his lips. By pulling his hair, I angled his face and deepened the kiss, tracing the inside of his mouth with my urgent tongue.
Breaking the kiss, I rested my forehead against him and confessed, "I love you too."

8 71Fragments of Glass
before the 1939-1945 War, most churches in England had stained glass windows, but despite local people's best efforts many of these windows were smashed in the bombing. What could be repaired was repaired, but in many churches all they could do was reassemble the remaining fragments randomly, with extra bits of clear glass added to eke them out to fill the windows. That is what I imagined for my collection of short stories: fragments of stained glass, bits of robe, bits of faces, all sorts of odds and ends randomly stuck together. And with quite a lot of clear fragments among the coloured ones. Just broken pieces of stories that anyone can look through.
8 90Game Of Thrones: Season 8 - The Right Way
Game of Thrones has been an international phenomenon... until this final season. The last few episodes went completely off the rails and everyone slams critics for saying it was bad and challenged people to write it better. I humbly want to accept that challenge and I'm giving it a shot. Some of you may like my take on things and some may not.I will (hopefully) publish each chapter as I write them, every week to two weeks, in between my daily stories and time permitting.
