《Someone Like Adam》52. My Poor Heart

"What's he doing here?" I asked Noah who himself looked surprised.
"How would I know?" he replied, shrugging. "Want me to go and ask?"
"No. I don't want to know." I lied, hiding the curiosity arising in my mind. "Let's dance."
He hesitated a bit, his attention still focused on his brother so I turned him around so that his back was facing Adam now.
"I wonder what is going on in his mind." Noah said while lacing his fingers with mine as the song shifted to a slow one.
"Everybody is wondering that." I gritted as my eyes followed his movement. He looked like a lost puppy, despite the mask of confidence on his face. He was looking around himself, searching for someone. His search stopped when his eyes met mine and he ran fingers through his hair.
Averting my eyes from him, I turned my attention back to Noah who looked lost in his own thoughts. "Don't worry. Give him some time. I'm sure he will understand." I tried to console him.
Noah was not like his father. After the huge revelation, he had made up his mind to amend his relationship with his newly discovered family but if he thought that Adam would just automatically forgive him for unknowingly hurting him, he had another thing coming.
While dancing with him, I kept my eyes on Adam who was now chugging a liquid from a glass. By the way his face contorted on taking its first sip, two things were clear. First, it was alcohol. Second, he wasn't used to drinking it.
After one glass, his expressions started to relax as his eyes once again moved towards my dancing figure. His Adam's apple bobbed up and down as he picked another bottle from the table and poured in the glass. This time, his face didn't contort as he drank the whole glass in one take.
"Hey." Noah waved his hand in front of me, distracting me from Adam. "Distracted much?"
"Um.. I.. I think I should go and check Sophia." I said, excusing myself and made my way towards Adam who was now on his fourth glass.
"You have had enough of it." I said, pulling the glass out of his hand.
"Don't be a party pooper." he said, his voice rough from the drinking. Pulling the glass back from my hand, he refilled it again and attached it with his lips.
"You know what.. Suit yourself. I'm not your babysitter anyway." I said, reminding myself of his harsh words when he blamed me for every bad thing that had happened to him.

"Gladly." he said, temporarily pulling the glass away from his lips.
Dragging myself to the kitchen, I passed between couples who were kissing each other passionately and reached the refrigerator. Pulling a bottle of apple juice out, I poured half of it in a glass and took few sips.
After my stomach calmed down, I left the kitchen and looked around for any familiar face. There were boys and boys everywhere, looking for any opportunity to get laid tonight. Even Adam and Noah were nowhere in sight.
In search of my friends, I reached the lawn but the only person I found there was Justin, drinking himself to oblivion. Returning to the house, I climbed the stairs and reached the second floor.
I needed to pee but wherever I go, there were people already there, either vomiting on the floor or getting it on with someone.
When I peeked inside the last room, I jumped up in surprise. The same scene again, an almost naked girl kissing an almost naked boy's neck. But there was one difference.
This time, the guy involved was Adam.
Tears welled inside my eyes as I attempted to close the door with trembling hands but before doing so, I noticed something.
He was unconscious.
While that stupid slut was rubbing herself on him.
"What the fuck are you doing?" I darted towards her and pushed him away from him.
"Can't you see? It's called having sex prude." she retorted back, covering her body from me.
"No. It's called taking advantage of someone." I gritted through clenched teeth. "Can't you see he is not in his senses?"
"So what?" she said and tried to push me back.
In the heat of that moment, I had no idea what came into me and I pushed her back, hard. She winced before muttering a series of curses under her breath and stood up. I kept glaring at her until she limped out of the room, but not before throwing Adam's shirt in her hands towards me.
"Hey." I leaned towards him and patted his cheek but got no response.
Looking around, I first moved to the room's door and closed it. Next, I picked a glass of water from the table and splashed some water on his face. He groaned lightly before rubbing his eyes. After another splash, he slowly opened his eyes, looking unoriented and confused.
"Hey sunshine." he whispered, smiling at me and sat up on the bed.
Sunshine?
"Are you still drunk?" I asked, patting his cheeks once more to get a reaction out of him.
"Drunk?" he giggled, his eyes half-opened. "I am a good boy. I don't drink."

So he is drunk.
"Come on big boy. Let me take you back to your house." I said, trying to pull him out of the bed.
"Big boy?" he chuckled once again and his chuckle made me chuckle too. He looked too cute with a grin on his face that I almost kissed his cheeks. Almost.
Then I remembered his words and the plan died down.
"Come on." I said with a straight face this time and dragged him out of the bed.
"I don't wanna go yet." he said, stopping in his tracks. "I want to dance first."
"OK. We will dance. Once I drop you back to your house." I said and pulled his heavy figure once again.
"Promise?" he pouted, stopping once again and pulling his lower lip out.
"Promise." I said, trying to fight back the smile.
"Pinky promise?" he pulled out his finger as I attempted to slip his arms into his shirt.
"Yes. Pinky promise." I said while closing the buttons of his shirt. His proximity stirred my insides but I kept my focus on his shirt, ignoring his heated glance on my face.
Once I was done, I recreated some distance between us and gripping his hand, pulled him out of the room. With wobbling steps, he descended the stairs. I saved him from tripping over two times and I was sure my back will be hurting tomorrow because of his weight and built.
It took me almost fifteen minutes to drag him towards my car. After opening the door to passenger seat, I pushed him inside and seated myself on the driver seat.
Revving the engine, I started the car, ignoring his heated glance on me. After some moments, I felt his hand on my thigh, causing me to gasp in surprise.
"Adam!" I whispered, keeping my eyes on the road.
"Hmm." he hummed, his fingers drawing circles on my thigh. The same irritating butterflies once again appeared in the pit of my stomach when his hand slowly moved to the inner side of my thigh. I felt his warmth on my skin, despite the cloth between us.
"Keep your hands to yourself." I replied harshly, he pouted when I slapped his hand away from my thigh.
The rest of the drive went well. Adam kept his face to the front, muttering something in foreign language under his breath. After stopping the car in front of our house, I pulled Adam out of the car, all the while grunting because of his heaviness.
"I'm not fat." he pouted when he found me wiping the sweat off my forehead.
"Of course." I said, rolling my eyes and dragging him inside his own house. The door was unlocked, that meant Tiffany had arrived home. Telling Adam to stand still, I peeked inside and found the path to his room clear.
Once again, I linked my fingers with his large one and tugged him along. It took every inch of power in me to push him above each stair, all the while keeping our voices to minimum.
I sighed deeply once we were inside his room. Once he sat down on his bed, I prepared to leave but the hand around my wrist stopped me from leaving.
"You promised something." he said, standing up to his feet.
"Um..." I stuttered but before I could say anything, he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me towards himself.
"Adam." I whispered, licking my dry lips. His eyes darted to my lips and he mimicked my action, creating a warm feeling inside my stomach.
"Let's dance." he said and hid his face in the crook of my neck. Closing my eyes, I leaned into him and he moved me back and forth slowly, despite his inebriated state. His nose nuzzled my sensitive skin, causing a small moan to erupt from my lips.
"Adam! I think you should.." he cut my sentence by placing his finger on my lips. I kept watching him as he leaned towards me, making my breath hitch.
I closed my eyes once again, feeling his wet lips on my cheeks, created tingles all over my skin. "You are beautiful." he said, chortling once again and despite everything that had happened, I found myself smiling with him.
After he had danced enough, he lay down on his bed and patted the space beside him. "Sleep with me." he said through half-closes eyes.
"I can't." I whispered, looking down at him from the side of the bed.
"Don't worry. I won't have try to have coitus with you." he chuckled, making me blush bright red. "I'm too tired to move right now."
Coitus? Well, that's one way to say it.
Kneeling down in front of him, I pecked his forehead gently and caressed his cheeks. "Sorry Adam but I can't stay. Because the conscious you hates me."
He blinked at me, after which he placed a kiss on my hand that was caressing his cheek. "I can never hate you Ali."
Aww.
"Bye." I said and rushed out of his room as soon as possible. Otherwise, knowing myself, I would have surrendered myself to him by now.
