《Someone Like Adam》26. Ready To Fight

I snuggled more into the warmth, inhaling deeper to delve into the masculine scent. The hold of the muscular arms tightened around me, causing me to release a sigh of comfort. But the moment I heaved, the hold around me loosened and I groaned at the sudden loss of warmth.
Frowning, I opened my eyes and met with the hypnotizing grey orbs, looking back at me with confusion and surprise. I blushed red when I realized how close Adam and I were, our bodies were glued together and my legs were caged between his own.
Pulling apart from him, I moved to the sitting position and coughed nervously. From the window of his room, I watched the darkness prevailing in the street. The clock showed 7pm which meant I had slept 3 hours, in Adam's bed.
Blushing, I turned to look at him and bit my lips when I found him already staring back at me. I leaned forwards to check his temperature. Ignoring his narrowed eyes, I touched his forehead and felt relieved when I found out that the fever had subsided.
"I should go." I said to break the awkward silence. But as soon as I attempted to leave, he gripped my wrist, stopping me on the spot.
"Alicia." he spoke lowly. His eyes zoomed into mine and I fought myself losing in them once again.
"Hmm." I hummed.
"Thanks." he whispered, leaning closer to me. He continued doing so until our foreheads were touching. My eyes closed on their own when I realized that he was probably going to kiss me.
Probably!
I felt his breath on my lips. My heart was doing somersaults inside my chest cavity. Our lips were close, too close, just a little more and they would be touching. My heart urged to move forwards and closed the distance between us.
"Hey Adam, I am ba...Oops..Sorry sorry." Tiffany's voice reached our ears and we both jerked apart from each other in hurry.
She looked between us, a teasing smile playing on her cherry tinted lips.
"I.. We.. I.." I stuttered, trying to find an excuse of what we were doing but nothing appeared in my stupid mind.

"She was just going." Adam spoke when he noticed my embarrassment. "Good bye Alicia."
Nodding, I got up immediately and after passing an uncomfortably smile to Tiffany, dashed out of his room.
...
"But why is your nose all puffy?" Sophia asked as she contorted her face while watching me blowing my nose.
"I caught Adam's cold." I answered and confusion laced her face. "Long story. Will tell you some other day." I said to curb her curiosity.
Engrossed in our conversation, both of us entered the cafe and sat down on the only free table available. Ever since I returned from Adam's house, I was feeling a bit feverish. Well, sleeping in Adam's arms was worth this much discomfort. Who knew the coldest person I have ever met can exude so much warmth!
Dad had packed me lunch today so that I won't catch any more germs. Opening my lunch box, I gagged in disgust as I watched the kale salad and avocado sandwich inside. My hands itched to dump it in the garbage can but Dad had made me promise him that I will finish it.
"Ugh. Your lunch box is making me nauseous." Sophia said when she took a peek inside the box.
"I can't even throw it. I promised Dad that I will finish it." I said, frowning.
All because of stupid Adam!
"Aww. Look who's Daddy's little girl!" Noah commented, sitting on the empty seat beside me.
"Aww. Look mommy's spoilt brat is here." I taunted, earning a chuckle from him.
"Aww! Look at us giving each other nicknames." he teased, sliding closer to me. "While we are on this subject, I prefer being called Daddy by girls."
"Gross." I stuck my tongue out, making a disgusted face. Sophia had smiliar expressions on.
"How does it feel being the king of narcissism?" she commented sarcastically, earning another toothy grin from him.
"Why? Are you interested in my post? Well, I better inform you that the only place available here is on top of me." Noah retorted, still showing his perfect pearly white teeth.
"You are impossible Noah." Sophia hissed and Noah shrugged as usual.

"Impossible to please?" he replied.
When their exchange of sarcastic comments became too boring, I looked towards the gate of the cafe from where Adam was entering in. He looked around to find an empty seat and when his eyes stopped at us, a scowl emerged on his face.
Thankfully, the scowl was directed more towards Noah than me.
"Hey Adam? Wanna sit with us?" It was Sophia who had asked him.
"No thanks, Sophia. I was going anyways." he said with a straight face without even acknowledging me.
"C'mon man. Try to sit with the normal people for once." Noah taunted and Adam's jaw clenched hard at his words. He took large steps towards us, stopping only when he was in front of us.
"Care to explain what you meant by that?" he asked, his eyes focused on Noah.
"I guess we all know what I meant by that." Noah countered, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
Adam's nostrils flared at his retort and he slouched down to his eye level. "Don't mess with me Noah. I am not one of those guys who kiss your ass just because of your money." Adam chewed his every word.
Noah didn't retreat back. Instead, he stood up to match Adam's glare and I exchanged a look with Sophia. I wanted to interfere but she motioned me not to, so I kept seated in the same place.
"Well, it's not my fault that I have a rich dad." Noah was pushing his luck while Adam looked like he was seconds away from exploding.
"Rich dad? I pity you Noah. Your dad is nothing but a coward son of a bitch." This time, it was Adam who had taunted and the next moment, Noah's fist collided with Adam's jaw and he wobbled backwards.
"Noah!" I gasped, standing up.
"Shut the fuck up weirdo. Go back to the asylum you just crawled out." Noah spat. Adam growled at his words and launched at him. Soon, both boys were fighting animalistically while the rest of the students were capturing their fight in their mobiles.
"Adam! Noah!" I hurried towards them and called their names but they didn't stop. They were punching and kicking each other, too busy to notice me.
"Stop it." a voice boomed in the cafeteria and both of them jerked apart to look towards the source of the voice. Near the entrance of the cafeteria stood Mr. Brown, glaring at both of them with murderous expressions on his face.
"All three of you, in my office, NOW!" I cursed when I realized that I was somehow standing between the two of them and that made Mr. Brown think that I was involved in their fight.
...
All three of us were seated in front of Mr. Brown while he was busy throwing daghers at each one of us. It felt like a deja vu, the only difference was that this time, Noah was also stuck with us. He looked the most scared among us, while Adam had his brooding mode on. I, on the other hand, was mentally cursing these two idiots.
"Will any of you explain what was happening in the cafeteria?" he fumed, his anger evident from his dilated pupil.
"What is there to explain? Your golden boy punched me." Adam answered, unfazed by his tone.
Mr. Brown's jaw clenched some more and he turned his face to Noah. "Any particular reason Mr. Brown?" he asked, his voice formal, even with his own son.
"He called you a coward and cursed you too." Naoh reasoned, lowering his head.
"Is it true, Mr. McArdle?" he asked, the element of hurt clear in his hard voice.
"Yes." Adam said unapologetically, his voice was challenging.
For a moment, they both glared at each other with their icy cold eyes, like two glaciers ready to collide. The tension in the air was so thick that I could almost feel it constricting my throat.
"Noah! Miss. King! Kindly leave us alone for a moment" he spoke and within ten second, both of us were out of the office.
