Most of the couples around us are taking turns to eat and drink.

I’m going to laugh when some of them fall out because they need to use the bathroom. Chase moves his head so that I’m staring straight into his eyes.

“What’s on your mind?”

“Nothing besides a whole mess of everything.”

“Is kissing me one of your thoughts?”

Wow, he is straightforward. Go big or go home, I guess.

“No. Definitely no.”

“What if kissing you is on my mind?”

Oh wow. I clearly figured that out. You wouldn’t have brought it up if it wasn’t.

“Then I would say ‘never gonna happen’.”

He gives me a cocky look. He seriously thinks I’m going to let him kiss me?

“I guarantee you, by the end of today, you’ll kiss me at least once. Whether it be cheek, lips, neck, or wherever else you would like, you’ll kiss me.”

“Wanna make a bet?”

“Sure.”

I think for a moment. What do I have besides student loans and Pure Leaf tea?

Well, I have a lot of stuff, but what would interest Chase Parker?

“How about the loser gives the winner ten bucks?”

Sounds fair enough.

“Okay. Make sure you have ten bucks on you. I’m going out for iced tea after this.”

“You’ll lose.”

He’s overconfident. Why would I kiss a disgusting person like him?

“No I won’t.”

At lightning speed, his lips press against mine just once, but it’s enough to leave a tingling sensation behind.

“You just kissed me.”

“You initiated it and you attacked me. I did not want that kiss!!”

He laughs as I try to push him away.

“Don’t want to lose the contest over a stupid little ten dollar bet, do you?”

I give up with a huff, turning so that we are spooning again. I just don’t want to see his face right now.
