I flip over on the bed, facing Nate.

"I hate not being able to leave my room."

"They just want to surprise you."

"But I hate it!"

"Are you caught up with your school work?"

"Yes."

"Are you sure? I want you to be walking across the stage at graduation."

"Well, I'm just stuck on a few math problems, but that's it!"

He sits up, walking over to my desk and shuffling through my pile of school books on my desk. I prop myself up, my back resting against the headboard.

"This it?"

He holds up my black notebook with 'Math' written in silver marker.

"Of course not. That's my history notebook."

My voice is drenched in sarcasm and Nate plops back down on the bed with me.

"What are you stuck on?"

"I just don't understand polynomial long division. I know we learned it last year, but I'm still utterly confused."

"You are very lucky to have me as a boyfriend. I'm a whiz when it comes to math."

"If you can teach me polynomial long division, you're a wizard."

He pretends to wave a wand around.

"Expecto Patronum!"

I laugh at his Harry Potter impression.

"Driving away the math demons?"

"Yep. Now, let us get to work!"
