《Unexpected》Brother

A loud, annoying sound draws me out of sleep. Banging? I open my eyes, scaring the crap out of myself. I’m in bed. With Gavin. I’m fully clothed but he’s shirtless. And thankfully, he’s still asleep. I climb out of the bed, grabbing a hoodie as I exit the bedroom. I throw it on before opening the door. A man in ripped jeans, sunglasses, and a black hoodie is standing on the other side. His facial expressions reveal that he is shocked to see me but he just smiles. I can feel his eyes studying me, raking over my body slowly.
“Hey, beauty. Gavin here?”
“Sonny!”
Gavin appears out of nowhere, grabbing the other man’s hand. They do that thing where guys pull each other in and pat each other’s backs.
“Come on in. Can I get you a beer?”
It’s bright and early in the morning. Who drinks beer this early?
“Nah, I just came by to see if you wanted to go out with me and the guys tonight. We’re in town and I figured you would enjoy some time away from the bar, but I see you have all the entertainment you need right here.”
He gestures to me and my face goes bright red. Gavin steps in.
“Sonny, this is Skye. Skye, this is my brother Sonny.”
I extend my hand and he takes it. Instead of shaking, he places a kiss on the back. This just causes my blush to become more noticeable. He lets go of my hand. I can still feel his eyes on me.
“You’ve got a beautiful girl here, Gav. Don’t break her heart.”
Oh no. It’s my turn to put the brakes on.
“We aren’t dating.”
Sonny seems amused by this statement. He reaches into his pocket, extracting a phone.

“In that case, why don’t you give me your number?”
Without hesitation, I reach for his phone. I know handing out my number to complete strangers isn’t the smartest, but there is something about him that intrigues me. I punch my seven digits, plus the area code of course, into the device before handing it back.
“So you down to hang tonight, Gav?”
“No. I have the bar to work.”
“Just take a night off. One single night. Just to let loose.”
Gavin glares at his brother, not giving in.
“Dude, Blaze is gonna be there.”
This ‘Blaze’ seems to put Gavin’s mind on a different track. After a few silent seconds, he speaks.
“I just have to tell Mickey he has to run the bar tonight for me. When and where?”
“Eight o’clock at the old farm.”
“Alright. Now get out of my place before I change my mind.”
A big smile breaks out across Sonny’s face.
“You won’t regret this!”
“Get out!”
He leaves and Gavin disappears to his bedroom, leaving me alone in the living space.

The Fate of a villain (But not really)
But to be honest, he doesn't really want to be one. Assigned that role by a bored god looking for entertainment, he struggles with the past. Its not all simple though. Just because of his pretty face, it doesn't mean that life bows down to him. And to top it all off, a god, no matter how bored they were, is still by most definitions a god. Ultimately, on the grand stage of the world, will the fate forced upon him prevail? To Cross the Threshold
What would one do, when a star crashes into the Earth? Die, of course! Except, in Joseph's case, it was all wrong. He met face-to-face with the Light, got the program forced into his brain, and woke up far, far away from his small insignificant hometown, in the ethereal endless void, full of stars and vigour, guns and loot, Daemons and Skills! From there on out, he got volunteered into the crew of the Morning Star, the pirate ship he was unfortunate enough to stumble upon. With a tree for the Captain, a dragoncat for the Quartermaster, and a human, equal in height and width, as the Cook, he sets sail across the mysterious and hostile Threshold, filled with fierce abominations, rich Ghosts, and patriotic soldiers from the Glorious Metal Empire, all to figure out what the Light has brought upon his Earth that day, and to find his way back home. Warning - English is not my first language, so I apologize in advance for any inconsistencies and grammar mistakes. Please, do point them out when you find some. Updates three days a week - Monday, Wednesday, Friday. This book is about the slice-of-life-ish lighthearted adventures of Joseph and Co. Just one long bumpy road, inspired by old-school RPGs.
