《You Enlighten My World ( Taekook ff )》Part 52

It's a dark gloomy night. The only source of light is the cresent moon peeking through the dark clouds. He's walking through a deep jungle. There was no other human in sight. The only sounds that can be heard are the sound of crickets and sometimes howling of wild animals. He felt scared, he's sweating profusely.
Suddenly he came face to face with a person or should I say a beast. That beast had a huge body, his face hideous, eyes red, glowing in the dark, has Sharp fangs, blood is dripping from them. He also had two obscene looking wings in his back. Over all the beast looked very much frightening.
He got very much afraid seeing the beast, he turned back and started running, trying to get far away from the beast. But suddenly he tripped and fell on the hard ground. He closed his eyes tightly in fear. When he didn't hear any sound of anyone following him, he slowly opened his eyes only to find that beast's face inches away from his, the beast looked at him and opened his mouth as if to eat him,
"Noooooooooo......" He shouted.
"Noooooooooo......" Tae shouted suddenly waking up from his nightmare and sat on the bed panting heavily. His heart beating loudly, his body drenched in sweat, tears streaming down his cheeks. He is very much frightened.
He got up from his bed and rushed out of the room. He reached Jungkook's room and beat his door loudly with his fists "KOOKIE, please open the door Kookie" he pleaded.
He was so scared that he forgot the fact that Jungkook doesn't lock his door while sleeping. He could just enter the room. In his frightened state it went out of his mind.
Jungkook woke up with a start. He heard someone beating his door loudly and pleading him to open it. His eyes widened realizing it's no one but Tae who is knocking on the door.
He rushed and opened the door, only to see a crying Tae standing there, his whole body soaking in sweat, his breathing laboured.
As soon as Tae saw Jungkook, he just threw himself on the older boy, wrapped his arms and legs around his body, hugging him like a koala and hid his face in the older's neck.
Jungkook almost stumbled as an impact of the sudden hug, but he somehow steadied himself holding on to the door. Once he steadied himself, he too wrapped his arms around the younger.
"Tae, baby what happened? Why are you like this? Baby please tell me what's wrong with you?" He asked gently.
"K..Kookie..... I..I..... T...that b..beast..
e..eat... m...me" Tae couldn't form a single sentence, he started sobbing.
Jungkook got worried seeing his state. He guessed that Tae is scared but why, he couldn't understand.
He walked inside his room and sat on edge of the bed with Tae still in his arms. So now Tae was sitting on his lap straddling, he still had his face buried in Jungkook's neck.

Jungkook gently pried the younger's head from his neck and cupped his tear stained check with his right hand, the other hand still protectively wrapped around the younger's torso.
He wiped Tae's tears with his thumb and said "please baby tell me what happened."
"I..I have..had a...." Tae was still finding it hard to form a sentence. Jungkook sighed seeing it. Then he stretched his arm and took the water bottle from the beside table, opening the cap he placed it on the younger's lips "here drink this" he said.
Tae drank thirstily from the bottle. He didn't realize but his throat had actually become dry.
"Feeling better?" Jungkook asked to which he nodded his head. "now tell me what happened?" Jungkook again asked.
Tae gulped remembering the nightmare he had "I..I had a nightmare...." He told Jungkook about his nightmare, he once again started shaking as he remembered the last part of his nightmare, how that beast was going to attack him.
Jungkook immediately hugged him close to his chest seeing him shaking "ssh.. baby don't be scared, ssh.. it's just a nightmare" he said trying to comfort the frightened boy.
Tae clutched Jungkook's t-shirt in his fist "K.. Kookie, I'm scared, what if that beast really comes to eat me?" He asked like little frightened kid.
"Ssh.. I told you right, it's just a nightmare" Jungkook tried to sooth him "and you don't need to be scared, even if really comes I won't let anything happen to you, till I'm with you nothing can harm you" he said in a firm voice.
"Promise you won't let it hurt me" Tae held his pinky finger in front of Jungkook.
Jungkook silently chuckled seeing his cuteness, he locked his pinky finger with him "promised" he said "now come on let's get you some sleep."
"But I don't want to sleep. What if I again see that beast" Tae said in a small voice.
"No you won't. I'll hug you tight so that beast won't be able to come in your dreams again" Jungkook assured him "but before sleeping you need to change, your clothes are soaked" he further added. He made Tae sit on the bed and stood up. As he was going to walk Tae held his hand "where are you going?" he asked scaredly.
"To your room, you need to change, I'll get some clothes for you"
"No no no don't go, don't leave me alone here" Tae whined, once again on the verge of crying.
"Okay, okay I won't leave" Jungkook assured not wanting the younger to cry again "I'll just grab something from my wardrobe, is that okay?"
Tae nodded his head and let the older's hand go.
Jungkook went to his wardrobe and looked for clothes to give Tae. He took out one of white t-shirts then looked for a lower but couldn't find something that'll fit the younger. He sighed and closed the wardrobe door.

"Here" he handed the t-shirt to Tae "you have manage with this, all my lowers are quite big for you. Will you be okay wearing it? I can still get you clothes from your room" he said.
"No no, it's okay. I'll manage with it. You don't have to go anywhere" Tae said hurriedly, afraid that Jungkook will leave him alone in this room and will go to get clothes for him.
"Okay then go to washroom and get changed" Jungkook suggested him.
"But I......" Tae was going to say something when Jungkook cut him "I'll wait outside the washroom door, nothing will happen." To which Tae finally nodded and went inside the washroom, as promised Jungkook waited for him outside the door.
Tae came out after changing "I'm done" he said and Jungkook looked at him.
Jungkook felt his throat going dry, he gulped hard seeing the younger, the white t-shirt had reached till his mid thighs, his long tan legs are in open display.
The sight suddenly brought the memories of the night in Jeju back to his mind, Jungkook shook him head to clear his mind off those memories "no Jungkook don't get distracted, he's scared you need to comfort him, don't think about anything else" he told himself.
He held Tae's hand and took him to the bed, made Tae lay properly on it . Then he too slid beside him. He covered them both with the quilt and wrapped his arms around the younger boy, hugging him tight. While Tae too buried his face on his chest and almost immediately fell asleep feeling safe in Jungkook's arms.
And this time no beast dared to invade his dreams.
The next morning when Tae woke up, he noticed that Jungkook was already up. The older was leaning on his arm and looking at him heart eyes.
Well Jungkook had woken up a few minutes ago but he didn't leave the bed. He just kept laying there watching the angel sleeping in his arms, memorizing his beautiful features. He just can't get enough of that beautiful face.
"Good morning Kookie" Tae sleepily said.
"Good morning baby" Jungkook touched his face "how are you feeling?" he asked.
"Hmm I'm okay" came the reply.
"Are you sure baby? Did you sleep well?" Jungkook was still not satisfied.
"Yeah Kookie, I'm fine. And I slept really well thanks to you" Tae smiled.
"That's good then" Jungkook started "but we are not going to that horror house ever again. I told you we shouldn't go there but you didn't listen"
"I just wanted you to experience it all. I wanted you to enjoy your time." Tae said in a small voice, not meeting the older's eyes.
Jungkook's heart melted hearing it. He placed his finger under Tae's chin and lifted his face.
He looked into Tae's eyes "I don't want the enjoyment that's gonna cause you distress. To me you are the most important person in the world everything else comes after you."
Tae felt his heart fluttering hearing Jungkook's words. He stared deeply into the older's eyes and all he could see there is honesty.
Tae nodded his head "okay we won't go there again" he agreed.
"That's like my baby" Jungkook smiled "now come on get up. You need to get ready for school. Today I'll drop you off."
"No Kookie I can go by myself. You don't...." Jungkook placed a finger on Tae's lips successfully shutting him up.
"Ssh.. I said I'll drop you, then I'll. Don't argue okay" he told the younger.
Tae gulped feeling Jungkook's finger on his lips, he couldn't say anything so he just nodded his head in agreement.
"Good boy" Jungkook said smiling, he took his finger off the younger's lips and kissed his forehead.
Jungkook got up from the bed and stretched his limbs. Tae too got up and started stretching his body.
Jungkook stopped what he was doing as his eyes fell on Tae. The boy was still in his white t-shirt, that reached just to his mid thighs, his tan legs in full display, the sunrays falling on him was making him look too sensual. He just couldn't take his eyes away from his husband.
Tae felt someone's gaze on his, he looked towards Jungkook only to find the older gawking at him. He suddenly realized he was wearing nothing but a t-shirt, Jungkook's t-shirt. His whole face became red, he couldn't meet Jungkook's gaze.
"I...I'll just go g..get ready" he somehow managed to say and dashed out of the room, leaving a dazed Jungkook behind.
As decided earlier, Jungkook dropped Tae at school "call me when your classes end, I'll pick you up" he told Tae.
"No Kookie, you don't need to come leaving your work, I'll ask Jimin to drop me off"
"Tae I told you that you..." This time Tae is the one shut him but not by placing his finger on the other's lip he rather placed his lips on the older's and pecked him
"That I'm more important to you than anything else" Tae said after pecking the older "but Kookie I don't want you to leave your work for me. Trust me when I say I can manage and if I can't then I'll call you, okay." To which Jungkook just nodded his head in agreement "good boy" Tae said and patted his head.
Jungkook smiled at his cuteness and kissed his cheek.
"Okay I'll leave now. You too get going." Tae told him.
"Alright. You take care okay" Jungkook replied.
"You too and drive safe. Call me when you reach, okay. Bye" and Tae left the car.
Jungkook looked at the boy skipping his way to the school. He too left once he saw Tae going inside the gate.

2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
