《Ciel x Reader- Dreams of Who We Used To Be》Neglect

"We'll be out for the day _____."
"What? Why??" You asked Ciel.
"We're investigating in Druitt's death. We're interviewing any close friends or family he has."
"... Alright. How long will you be gone?"
"Just the day."
"Oh alright.." You said quietly. The two of you were in his office, as after breakfast he had demanded you come see him.
He got up and extended his arm, and you looped yours through it. He guided you to the front doors before turning around to face you. Through the open doors you could see Sebastian staring at thw two of you.
Ciel gently put his hand on your shoulder, redirecting your gaze to him. "Listen, ______, I don't know how to say this, so I'm going to come straight out, alright?"
'He's secretly a hobbit, He's secretly a hobbit, He's secretly a hobbit.' You mentally chanted it over and over, keeping your outer self composed. "Yes Ciel?" you said.
"you're.... you're going to be the only one home. We're taking everyone... except you."
"..... Oh."
'I think I would've liked a hobbit friend-NO TARGET- better.' You thought.
"I'm sorry ______. I'll be back by 21:00 hours, alright?" He said, giving you a look that made you squirmy inside.
"... Okay." you said. 'He has to stop looking at me like that! I don't think I could say no...'
"Be careful, okay?" He said, slipping outside and shutting the door behind him.
As soon as the sound of the carriage on the dirt road faded, You put your back to the door and slid down.
'Now would be a prime opportunity for some trap placing... But I'm not in the mood. ' You thought glumly. 'And I have five days still until my deadline... A lot has happened though since I called Marcie.. perhaps I should check in with him.'
Hoisting yourself to your feet, you trudged down the hall.
'Let's get this over with.'
"Do you hear me? Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE are you to return to the manor. Just wait here." I told the four idiots. "We'll be back later."
"'ey, why are we in the middle of nowhere?" Baldly complained.
"Because ________ won't see you here." Ciel said, frustrated. "Sebastian, let's go. I want to prove her innocent now so you can stop hovering over us."
"Yes, My Lord."
"You do realize you can kill him before the deadline, right?" Marcie said.
"Yes, I wasn't born yesterday." You sighed. "And this isn't my first job."
"Five days ________ before poor Tommy starts loosing fingers... He doesn't need those, right?"
"Don't lay a hand on him! He's only six S!" You said.
"But you aren't. Now go on and work." He said.

"Actually, my target is currently not at the residence." You sighed. "He went out interrogating one of my other kills."
"You're doing awful on this job _______. You're loosing your touch." He said.
"Shut up." You said, slamming the phone down and heading outside.
'Maybe I need some fresh air.'
Just as we arrive at the manor, I see _______. She looks so frustrated and scared... Something entirely out of her character. I mean, she gets mad all the time at Sebastian, but she looked genuinely scared and worried.
Sebastian and I watched as climbed the stairs to the sitting pavilion in the garden with interest. 'I wonder where she's going...' I wondered.
We followed her on ground, watching as she easily jumped onto one of the decorative pillars even though it was twice her height. Once she was ontop of it, she curled into a ball and began to cry.
I took an instinctive step towards her. '______, please don't cry, please.' I mentally begged as Sebastian held me back by my shoulder.
' Please... it hurts me too much..'
'Ciel... and Tommy.... I can't have both..... either way one is going to die... And if I can't decide soon enough it will be both of them...' You thought as you cried into your knees. 'Either way, I'll be the one killing them.'
You shook your head. "I can't be thinking like this." Jumping off the pillar, you straighten your clothes and wipe your tear stained face. "I need to keep myself calm. They probably have men watching me now."
"Men watching her? Does she really think I would do that to her?" Ciel asked, slightly frustrated.
"Young Master, when she was crying she was thinking about her brother." 'And you.' Sebastian added mentally. "It is possible these men that kidnapped her brother have surveillance on her to garuntee she fulfills the terms required to have her brother returned to her."
Ciel's gaze hardened. "That's a horrible idea. She's only my age! How can she think to withstand a burden like that at such a young age without help! She should've told me." He said, sounding upset.
"Young master, you dealt with great pain when you were even younger than her." Sebastian said. "Three years younger."
"She lost her parents when she was even younger than that. Don't tell me that I should have no sympathy." Ciel huffed.
"Very well Young Master. However, she is not cleared from the charge of the Viscount's death, and we should continue to follow her." Sebastian sighed silently, frustrated at how insistent Ciel was on your innocence.
"Fine." He frowned.
You walked aimlessly through the manor. "I guess I should be practicing my acts... It would be bad if I was out of shape when I get back." You said, walking in the kitchen. You saw a knife laying alone on the counter, and grabbing it by it's hilt you threw it in the air so it was turning.

Leaning forwards, you caught it behind your back with your right hand and tossing it in the air with another spin. Leaning to Your right, you caught it to the side on your left. You gave it a spin throwing it in the right, catching it. You repeated the process, getting faster eachtime until the hilt of the blade barely touched your palm.
You threw it up in the air, and it soared above your head. Reaching up and catching it above your head, You let it spin in the upturned palm of your hand before resting it on the counter.
You heard a small gasp, and you lunged for the knife and held it out in front of you. No one. Just an open window.
You slowly inched to the window, looking left and right. Nothing.
You closed the window and locked it.
You picked up another knife, doing your juggling act twice as fast. You caught the first knife with ease, but misjudged the distance on the other one.
It flew across the room. 'It's going to hit the wall and damage something and Sebastian is going to kill me.'
You quickly rolled forward and sprung upwards, catching the knife before it hit the wall. 'Phew. Better not do that again.'
I can't believe the Young master would be so foolish- gasping while we're watching _____? I had to grab him and duck when she looked out the window... She was so close to seeing us. And as for her throwing that knife at the wall, she was going to pay for that later. Maybe I will just have to drop cake on her.
That sounds good.
I could tell Ciel watching this was breaking him... I suppose her juggling knives had him worried she would get hurt.
How cute.
How annoying and impossible.
I had told him NUMEROUS times about my suspicions, but he'd just shake his head and say '_____'s a good person. She wouldn't do something like that.'
PLEASE.
This girl eat, slept, and BREATHED death. She radiated it. I think I would know.
Watching her with those knives was proof. She was excelled in hand to hand combat apparently.
And as for that scar on her arm, does she really think I'm stupid enough to- What is she doing now??? Sebastian frowned, watching ________ grab a cup.
She was doing a mini runthrough of her two songs that she had done the day we met her I suppose, as she had been singing the two tunes. Her voice cracked at the end of 'Tom The Piper's Son' where Tommy had joined her, and when she put the glass down it shattered.
_______ began to cry softly, shaking her head and leaving the room.
"Sebastian?" Ciel called me softly.
"Yes my lord?" I responded.
"Next time I want to leave _______ home alone, advise me against it." He said, gritting his teeth.
"Yes, My Lord." I said, bowing.
"Let's go see how those bumbling idiots are doing, and then let's go into town for the rest of the day. We're done here." He said, turning away. "We'll check on shipments and such at the stores."
Night had fallen, and you were eagerly awaiting Ciel's return. It had been a rough day, and you missed him dearly.
You had cleaned up the broken glass and cleaned yourself up a few hours ago, leaving you with nothing to do. You had been sitting in the pavilion since, watching the sunset.
"______!" You heard someone call your name. You turned around to see Ciel heading towards you.
"Ciel!" You called, running to him and throwing your arms around his neck.
He squeezed you close. "Are you okay?"
"It's been a long day, and I've missed you." You said, blushing as the last part slipped out of your mouth.
"I missed you too." He said, pulling slightly away so that his forehead could touch yours instead of being buried into your chest.
Your heart accelerated at his contact. Your arms around his neck and his hands on your back, pulling you closer as your noses touched ever so slightly...
"Did everything go okay?" You said, smiling softly at his warm breath on your lips.
"It would've been better if you were there." He said, bringing his lips closer.
"But I'm here now." You said softly. "So.... you... don't ..... have .... to ...worry..." You trailed off, realizing he wasn't listening. He got closer and closer, until your lips finally met.
And then you felt nothing.
'I can't believe I'm kissing _______.... and yet here I am.' I thought as she brought her hands from his shoulders to his hair. 'I wonder how- Oh no, LIZZY.' I thought.
There's no way to explain this to her.
She'll be mad anyways.
I guess I'll just have to pretend it never happened.
Kissing Ciel... was perfect. Utterly perfect. The warmth of his lips on yours drained the memories of your day from your body, leaving you only with the thrill of the moment.
And then it wasn't.
He pulled away and harshly turned, not looking at you as he headed back into the manor.
"Ciel, wait-"
"No." he said coldly, leaving you.
You trembled in the wind. You had never imagined your first kiss would end like this.
But frankly, you never intended it to start like that either.
You had kissed your target.
And ENJOYED it.
For the first time in years, and for the third time today, you began to cry.

How to Raise Your Dungeon
A dungeon core awakens for the first time. It knows nothing, it has nothing, but it can hear something. Voices, whispering, talking, and sharing. For now, they are distant. But it believes, if it proves itself, they may provide it with wisdom and direction. And so its slow but steady growth begins. Polls will come when the dungeon specifically wants to choose between a number of options, and believes it will receive an answer. However, it will "hear" any comments made on the most recent chapter, and these will shape its behaviour. It trusts you implicitely. This story is an exercise in stretching my creative muscles, so with each decision made, the options and opportunities open to the dungeon will change- some closing off forever. The dungeon will face threats periodically, and its fate in these encounters will be heavily influenced by your advice, though it will of course do its absolute best even without advice. It hardly wants to die. Heavily inspired by There Is No Epic Loot Here, Only Puns, though my approach to the concept is somewhat different from that work.

A note from the Author: PLEASE leave a review and alert me of any plot holes, weak portions, and anything else. I am in desperate need of beta readers and feedback. I wrote this around the new year, 2020. It's about 40k words and the first in a planned series that follows Gar "Alany" Darron and his agency of detectives as they track missing persons in the city of Throne. I have the sequel planned but not written. Once this one is completely uploaded, I'll be uploading another, unrelated series that as of right now is roughly 160k words long, and somewhere in there, I'll write the sequel to Frame of Mind. I plan to go back and forth between the two series for the foreseeable future. Thanks for reading.
