《Call Me Cute》Chapter Five

A few days have gone by and Dakota has thankfully been scarce.

This made Frankie quite happy but it also gave her time to come to terms with the fact that her first love ended before it even began.

The rumors of them dating were now in high gear, despite her saying it wasn't so to anyone she could find but those same people just went

'Oh stop being shy!' or 'Hahaha good one!'

It wasn't a joke!!!

She thought she could fix it but as she suspected....it was virtually impossible.

She cried the entire night that day until she finally came to understand that maybe this was for the best. She loved Nathan, but he might not have loved her.

The only people who at least believed her were Cammy and Swan. They tried to help too but no one would listen, these selfish people only wanted drama! Her life wasn't someone's entertainment!!

She stared at the blue sky above her, currently feeling sorry for herself in the schools garden, her back flat against the bench.

She frowned as the view was soon blocked by unknown faces, five girls she didn't recognize.

She took note of their four stripped neckties.

They were from her year, they were seniors.

"Can I help you?" She asked genuinely polite in her tone.

"Hah??" One girl moved forward looking upset but another held her back.

"Can you come with us for a moment dear?"

Frankie looked over the group and while her instincts screamed no, she felt refusing them would be worse.

"....okay...." She mumbled collecting her bag and following the girls who crowded around her.

They led her through the corridors and down the stairs around back to the gym's storage unit.

They didn't say a word and neither did Frankie.

Entering she tensed as she heard the door close.

"Sit." One girl ordered calmly gesturing to a chair in the room. Frankie glanced at it before meeting her eyes.

"I'd rather stand, thank you."

A silence grew between her and the group.

Mmm?....what are they going to-

Frankie fell to her knees as the slap to her face knocked her off her feet. Her eyes immediately began to water and pain erupted all over her cheek.

She looked up at her fellow seniors in shock at what they just did her, to see their expressions were now twisted and sinister.

"I can't believe you're the chick he choose outta all of us, is he blind or something?"

"Nah she's probably just a slut and he was just using her for fun."

"Hahaha! You're totally right, all she has on her is her ass! Hahaha!"

"Holy shit look at her hair, why is it like this?"

Frankie sat there horrified by what she was hearing. They pulled at her thick locs that was in a simple updo; causing her to wince in pain.

"You can't even comb you're fucking hair yet you want to be Dakota's girlfriend?"

Frankie felt her anger rise immediately and the numbness in her legs disappear. She pulled her hand back and slapped the girl right across her face, watching in satisfaction as she stumbled back into the other and released her hold on her hair.

The other girls screamed not expecting Frankie to do such a thing.

She was fuming.

Dakota had insulted her hair before but even from a man that didn't make her this angry.

She was sensitive about her hair as she's had people mock her for it, only to turn around and wear wigs to copy her natural looks.

"What....?" She asked calmly.

"Huh?? What?" One of girls asked in a panic.

"What did you say about my hair?" Frankie repeated slowly.

The girls shared a look between each other neither seeming to want to say anything.

Frankie noted how all of them had straight silk hair, some blond and some black.

She walked towards the first girl; pulled her hair with all her might before using her other hand to punch her, sending her back. They screamed and another girl went to push her but Frankie quickly kicked her square in the gut. She lowered her foot and glared at them.

"Never lay your hands on my crown ever again." She warned.

"Who gives a shit about your stupid Afro! It's outta style anyway-"

"IT'S NOT A FUCKING TREND!" She roared feeling more ticked off by the minute.

"Why are you even around Dakota?? Why don't you go get someone else?"

She turned the girl who spoke and glared.

"I'm not dating Dakota! How many times do I need to tell you people?"

"What? You're lying! Someone said they saw you kissing!"

Ahhh! Why don't they get it!

"I SAID WE'RE NOT DATING! WHO'D WANT TO DATE THAT CROSS-"

Frankie immediately covered her mouth, almost having Dakota's secret slip out.

She was sure these so called lovers of Dakota would mock and tease him the minute they knew what he did. She glared at them feeling disgusted.

"Move."

She spat and pushed her way past the idiots spurred on by petty feelings. They let her through and she made her way to the nurse's office, limbing just to do so.

"Okay just put this on your cheek, directly on the bruise. Wash your hands first."

The nurse instructed.

"Would you like some ice as well? It might sting but it will help with the swelling."

Frankie nodded.

The nurse smiled and moved to retrieve them.

The door opened to have a heavy breathing Dakota appear. Frankie felt her anger rise again and glared at his hunched over figure.

"Is there an emergency?" The nurse asked ready for action. Dakota flushed red and shook his head.

"N-No sorry I just, is there a- oh! Frankie!" He yelled finally meeting her eyes. She ignored him.

"Ah...ummmm I'll wait outside...." He mumbled looking sheepish.

"Boyfriend?"

Frankie felt her blood boil.

"No." She managed to answer without blowing up on the nurse.

"Well he's a good friend, he looks so worried for you." The nurse smiled.

Frankie didn't bother to correct her and allowed her to finish the treatment.

He isn't my friend either....

Thankfully nothing was broken and it was simply some bruising. She ended up with patches on her knees though, from when she fell.

She held the ice packet against her cheek and sat on the bed in the office.

"I'll be out for a moment." The nurse stated before leaving the office, she could hear her talk to someone outside and soon Dakota entered again this time looking ticked off.

"The nurse just told me what happened...."

"Leave me alone." Frankie huffed not wanting to deal with him right now.

"Frankie, I'm sorry."

"Why are you apologizing? You didn't hit me."

"I might as well have." He mumbled keeping his distance at the door, Frankie was silently grateful for that.

"Doesn't matter. Your stupid lovers club or whatever isn't even scary, just a bunch of dumb- ugh. Whatever!" Frankie spat feeling her eyes water.

"Are you crying?"

"I'm not you stupid idiot!!"

Dakota stepped towards Frankie and she flinched. His expression softened watching her try to keep her tears back.

"It was scary wasn't it?"

He whispered softly understanding that having a group of people gang up on you probably wasn't very fun; He squatted down in front of her so he could see her face a bit better.

It was swollen.

He sighed silently to himself, irritated by what happened but knowing he couldn't do anything about it. It was in the past, he'd be an idiot to go and attack a bunch of hormonal girls.

He watched her glare at nothing, still refusing to cry. He smiled sadly, her strong attitude so obviously Frankie that it made him feel somewhat better.

"You can cry you know, it's fine."

Frankie turned to punch him on the shoulder, Dakota cried out in pain at the sheer force.

"That's for what I got."

She pulled his hair causing him to scream.

"Ahh! Ah! Ah! I'll go bald!"

"That too."

Dakota chuckled softly rubbing at where she yanked.

"Okay I'll take it then.... I'm... I'm sorry."

Frankie stared at him, his eyes genuine and caring. She frowned not feeling that disgusting feeling as she usually did when she saw his face.

The image of his crossdressing persona crossing her mind as she gazed at him.

Was that why?

He looked like a regular male right now, how could he look so different from his female side?

That side of him.....it was.....

"You're pretty when you dress like a woman."

She blurted out randomly.

A dead silence passed between them as they stared at each other, the realization of what was just said playing out on their faces.

"Wait you knew!!? You saw!"

He yelled standing up.

"What? No! What are you talking about??'

"Don't play dumb you little brat! You just said-"

"Are you deaf?? As expected of a subhuman your abilities are pathetic!"

"Don't insult me you liar!"

"Liar?? Aren't you the liar parading as a woman at night?"

"YOU SAID IT AGAIN!"

"Ah."

Frankie covered her mouth, guilt written in bold over her forehead.

"Why didn't you tell anyone?"

"Do you think I'm as low as you?"

"Don't say stuff like it's a fact."

Dakota sighed feeling relived. He was worried these past few days that she'd just out him after the way she left, the last time he saw her she was crying and obviously pissed off.

To think she kept it a secret for so long....

"Frankie, thank-"

Frankie immediately covered his mouth with her hands. Her eyes shone with great desperation.

"Don't thank me. Ever. Don't you dare."

Dakota smiled behind her hand.

Frankie closed her eyes in torment, another fear has been realized.

I'm definitely cursed.
