《Falling For You {Kita Shinsuke}》{Chapter 22: Loss}

"Good luck, Shin" I said, walking beside him as we made our way back from the vending machine.
"Thank you" he replied, giving my hand a gentle squeeze.
"To make up for the times we couldn't go out, I'll take ya on a date sometime after this" he offered with a small smile.
"I would love that" I grinned, kissing his cheek, continuing to walk beside each other.
"So this is why you didn't want to go out with me" a teasing voice called out.
I turned to see a certain rooster and owl-head.
"Tetsurō, Kōtarō" I greeted, ignoring what Kuroo said.
"Don't ignore the confrontation!!!" Kuroo shouted, getting cut off by Bokuto.
"HANA~" he cheered, bringing me into a hug and squeezing me.
"Eh? Who are you?" he questioned, noticing Kita next to me.
"I'm Kita Shinsuke from Inarizaki" he introduced, kind of peeved that his girlfriend got taken from him.
"Oh~" he said, letting go of me.
"What are you two doing here?" I asked, looking towards Kuroo.
"We were actually going to get a drink when we saw your oh so lovely interaction, Hana-chan~" Kuroo said, a sly look in his eyes.
"Care to introduce him to us properly?" he continued, standing besides the oblivious Bokuto who looked between Kita and I curiously.
I sighed before gesturing to Shinsuke.
"...This is Kita Shinsuke, my boyfriend" I monotonously sighed out before turning to Kita.
"Shinsuke...the one in white is Bokuto Kōtarō, he's a close friend of mine... the one is red is Kuroo Testurō...he's a friend too, I think..."
"HHHUUUHHHH?!?! What do you mean 'I think'?!?!?!" Kuroo shouted.
"He's your boyfriend?..." Bokuto said, almost questionably.
I nodded, before sweat-dropping.
Bokuto had sulk lines appearing on his forehead.
"She has someone special...before me..." he sulked, hair deflating.
Where is Akaashi when I need him...
I thought, before spotting a mop of messy black hair.
"Oh! Akaashi!!! Over here!!" I called out, catching his attention before he jogged towards us, seeing Bokuto's state.

"What happened?" he asked, looking at the four of us.
"My bro Bokuto got sad cause he just found out that our Hana-chan here has a boyfriend" Kuroo explained, smirking.
I sighed, seeing Kuroo and Akaashi trying to cheer Bokuto up.
I turned to Shinsuke, discreetly.
"Let's go..." I whispered, grabbing his hand and walking away, unseen.
I sighed, hearing Shinsuke chuckle.
"You have very interesting friends"
"I met them during the training camp at Tokyo last year, remember the video I sent of the playground shenanigans? Those two dragged me and the girls out there, along with some other victims..." I sighed before smiling, remembering the tiring but entertaining night.
We arrived at our destination, seeing the grand arena.
"This brings back memories..." I sighed out, remembering the past.
I saw Karasuno arrive, seeing a mop of orange hair.
I smiled and waved, seeing the tangerine notice and wave to me excitedly.
I felt a strong tug, pulling me into a warm chest as we walked to the locker rooms.
"Shin?" I called, looking up at Kita.
"Hm?" he replied, still looking forward.
"What are you doing" I asked, curious to why he was acting strangely.
"I'm just trying my best to hide you before the rest of the male population try and take my beautiful girlfriend away from me again" Shinsuke said, bluntly.
I laughed, hiding my red face into his chest, feeling his chest vibrate in laughter as he wrapped his arm around my waist, kissing my lips quickly.
Inarizaki vs Karasuno: 2nd set
I heard the whistle blow, signalling a member change.
"Inarizaki High School is switching out players. Taking the place of #4 Ojiro Aran, is the captain #1 Kita Shinsuke" the commentator said.
I watched Kita as he walked onto the court with a faint smile on his face.

Yamaguchi served as Kita received flawlessly and sent it to Atsumu.
"His plays are flawless as usual" I commented from besides the coaches.

They nodded in agreement, continuing to watch the game.
Inarizaki vs Karasuno: 2nd set
24-16 - Inarizaki
We're at set point...
I thought, feeling a strange aura coming from Shinsuke.
I chuckled lightly, watching Kita give a hard look towards Suna, knowing his habit to slack off when we're in the lead.
The coach called a time out, giving the players an opportunity to catch their breath.
I handed everyone their towels and bottles, hearing Shinsuke tell Atsumu to keep on doing his float serve.
I slapped Atsumu's back and grinned.
"That serve is coming in handy, I see" I teased, letting Kita call Atsumu out about his serving choices.
"Yer did well, teaching it to him" Aran said, slapping my back lightly.

30-31 - Karasuno
Tanaka got blocked as the ball went flying back, making the Karasuno players stiffen.
This is getting very difficult for Karasuno...
"Got it!"
My eyes widen, watching the ball get sent towards Kageyama perfectly.
"Shōyō?" I whispered, my eyes further widening from surprise.
The game continued, Tanaka getting blocked as Kageyama managed to prevent the ball from landing. Tsukishima's dive following afterwards as Daichi sent it over.
The twins started to move, my eyes shining from amusement.
That position...that timing...that angle...it's perfect...
I thought, watching the twins complete their quick.
The ball got blocked by Hinata and Kageyama, the ball flying towards the back, landing in.
The familiar sound of the whistle echoed in my ears, announcing our loss.
This sound brings me back...
I thought, watching the fallen expression of our players.
.
.
.
"I'll go get changed, see you in a bit" Shinsuke said before he left.
The twins then stopped in front of me, an unreadable expression on their face.
I smiled and pat their shoulders, reassuringly.
"Yer did well, I'm proud of ya" I told them, softly before telling them to go and get changed.
They nodded and left, catching up to the team.
I had a big bag hanging from my shoulders as I made my way towards where the bus was waiting for the team.
I was humming a soft tune, before spotting a familiar tangerine.
"Shōyō!" I called out, cheerfully.
He turned around, a cautious expression on his face before breaking into a grin and running towards me.
"Hana-senpai!!!" Hinata cheered.
I smiled and ruffled his hair.
"Congrats on the win!" I smiled.
"Ah thank you!" he beamed.
"Yer receives have improved immensely from the last time I've seen them" I complimented, very proud of him.
"Uh huh!! I worked really hard on them!!!" he jumped around.
I chuckled at his excitement and pat his shoulder, calming him down.
"Good luck on yer next match" I said, smiling softly.
"Thanks...and I also just wanted to say this..." he trailed off.
I tilted my head, curiously.
"Say what?" I asked.
Hinata took a deep breath before smiling ever so brightly and bowing to me.
My eyes widen in confusion and shock.
"S-Shōyō?"
"Thank you for mentoring me and guiding me. I'm so happy that you agreed to help me get closer to my goals. I will forever be grateful for you, Hana-senpai, so thank you so so much" he said before standing up right, smiling and putting the Sun to shame.
I stood there for a while until my eyes teared up a bit. Putting my bag down before pulling him into my arms.
"It was a pleasure helping you Shōyō, yer really are my favourite kouhai" I smiled before kissing his forehead and letting go of him.
Hinata stood there for a moment, trying to process what just happened before turning red and covering his face with his hands.
"S-senpai!!" he stuttered out, making me laugh.
