《Falling For You {Kita Shinsuke}》{Chapter 10: Tokyo Training Camp (Pt. 2)}

It was the fourth day of the training camp, we were currently playing against Ubugawa, the score 19-19.
I ran up and spiked the ball, set by Nina, while watching the ball land directly on the line.
"Nice kill~" Nina drawled out, high-fiving me.
I nodded as we rotated and continued with the game.
.
.
.
It was my turn to serve, I grabbed a ball and walked towards the back.
I turn back around and bounced the ball, getting ready to serve.
The whistle blew just as I finished my serving routine.
I brought the ball out in front of me, staring at the Ubugawa players, seeing them visibly stiffen.
Just like practice...I can do this...
I thought, breathing out and tossing the ball up and running.
I swung my arms back and I jumped, the ball hitting my hand as I swung my arm.
I felt a light sting as I hit the ball to the other side, appearing like it was going to land out.
"Out!!" someone called.
The ball then suddenly curved and landed just inside the line, the flag boy swinging the flag down.
In...I did it...
I thought, high diving my teammates as they congratulated me.
"You've been working on that serve for a long time, good job" Haruko slapped my back, smiling lightly.
I grinned in response, happy that I was able to pull it off in another environment.
After eating and taking our showers, Haruko, Nina and I were walking down the hallways to our room.
"I'm kinda bored..." Nina sighed out, her hands placed behind her head as we walked.
"I can't believe this..but same here..." Haruko agreed.
I hummed, continuing to walk.
"Hmmm, I sense boredom here" Kuroo popped out of no where, his arm slinging around Haruko, smirking.
"That simply won't do, why don't you guys follow us" Bokuto suggested his smirk mirroring Kuroo's, his arm slinging around Nina's shoulders.

"Oh, where are we going?" Nina questioned, head tilted.
"You'll see, my precious cousin, we'll get rid of the boredom instantly" Bokuto finished, clicking his fingers.
I rubbed my temples and sighed, looking at the disaster happening in front of me.
"Why are we here again..." I asked to no-one in particular.
I watched as the four idiots were swinging themselves on the merry-go-around and screaming like children.
"AHHHHHH"
"HOLY SHIT"
"WAIT WAIT WAIT I'M GOING TO FALL OFF"
"I THINK I'M GONNA THROW UP"
I sat down on the bench, watching them and avoiding their shenanigans with Akaashi and Kenma.
"They're so immature" Kenma deadpanned, watching his friend swing himself off the equipment and onto the ground.
"I can't believe that they're a year older than us" Akaashi commented, disappointment clear in his voice.
"I'm kind of embarrassed that they're in my year..." I finished, my head shaking in disproval.
They're more difficult to handle than the twins...
It was almost midnight when Kuroo and Bokuto dragged their cousins and me to the playground, Akaashi and Kenma following them to make sure they don't do anything illegal.
But I'm not going to lie...but I'm pretty bored too...
I thought, thinking of ways to entertain my self.
Hm...maybe I could film the entire thing and send it to Suna or something...
I thought, taking out my phone and filming the scene happening.
"BRO SWING IT FASTER" Bokuto shouted, his lower half of his body hanging off the equipment.
"WAIT STOP, I'M GONNG THROW UP, YER SHIT" Haruko demanded, almost falling off.
"AHHHHRRRRGGGHHHH" Nina screeched, trying to hold onto the bars.
"MUAHAHAHAHA" Kuroo laughed like a hyena.
"We snuck out for this..." Akaashi grunted, slapping his hand on his forehead.
I chuckled in response as I continued to film.
"OH SHIT" Nina screamed, flying off and landing on the ground.

"Oh... shit" I commented, stopping the video and running towards her.
"Are yer ok, Nina?" I fretted, stopping beside her.
Nina didn't reply and only laughed hysterically.
"Is she ok?" Kuroo asked, brows raised.
"She looks fine, its like she doesn't feel physical pain sometimes" Haruko replied, shrugging.
"WOAH THAT WAS SO COOL, ME NEXT!!!" Bokuto cheered, about to get on the merry-go-around once again.
"I don't think that's a good idea, Bokuto-san" Akaashi intercepted, stopping his senpai from doing anything more stupid.
.
.
.
We decided that it was time to go back and sleep.
Nina was on Bokuto's back, talking..well..more like shouting at each other while Akaashi was trying to keep them under control.
Haruko was talking to Kenma about video games while Kuroo was third wheeling them, trying to catch up to what they were talking about.
I walked behind the rest, sending the video to the combined volleyball group chat with an amused smile on my face.

.
I read the messages and turned off my phone, realising that we've arrived.
"I'll see you guys later" Kuroo said, walking with Kenma to their room.
Kenma waved, us doing the same.
"BYE B-" Bokuto's voice got cut off as Akaashi covered his mouth.
"We'll see you in the morning, senpais" Akaashi said, bowing.
"There's no need to call us that, Akaashi" I told him, patting his shoulder.
He nodded and dragged Bokuto away, still covering his mouth, afraid that he'll wake up the coaches and everyone else.
"Lets go" I motioned, walking to our room.
"Gah~That was so fun" Nina beamed, her hands resting at the back of her head.
Haruko nodded, feeling slightly dizzy as we walked into our rooms and went to bed.

The Emperor's Chef
"Cook like your life depends on it, kid. Because it does." Charles had an enviable future lined up for him. Training from the age of five by some of the finest chefs in the world. Schooling at a top culinary academy in the capital. An honorable position as heir to House Boulier, a line of merchant-lords who have charmed the rich and powerful with their cooking for centuries. And in a single night, it all burned to ash. When the outbreak of war destroys his hometown, Charles is charged with escorting his family’s sacred treasure—a recipe book passed down for untold generations—out of harm's way. But his simple mission grows complicated when he’s captured by one of the most feared battalions in the world: the Spears of Mercy. Life as a prisoner in their war camp is brutal and uncertain. Charles has few allies and even fewer strengths to rely on. Only his skills in the culinary arts, honed over a lifetime in the kitchen, are deemed useful enough to keep him alive another day. But he’s not out of hope just yet. With a dash of wit, a pinch of luck, and some very creative cooking, he might just find a way to recover his family’s legacy and take back his freedom. This project is a food-themed fantasy that centers on cooking and chefs. The setting spans a wide world featuring ingredients/recipes both real and inspired by traditional fantasy. I'll eventually be publishing it as a full-length novel (or series of novels depending on length). These are the first draft chapters. I'll likely be re-writing more than once, then editing before publishing, so impressions and feedback are quite welcome. If you like the story so far and you're interested in being an early reviewer for the final product, feel free to message me. I'm looking for an artist to make some concept art and a cover (the cover shown here is just a temporary placeholder). A stand-alone novel for now, but it may turn into a series down the road.
