《Falling For You {Kita Shinsuke}》{Chapter 5: Absence}

I sat down and looked around the class, noticing that a certain person with black tips and light grey hair was missing.
Eh? Where's Kita?...He's normally here...
I questioned, looking at his empty seat at the front, feeling slightly concerned.
I wonder where he might be...
I dismissed my thoughts and went back to work.
"Hey have yer seen, Kita by any chance?" I asked Haruko.
"No, I haven't, why? Worried about yer boyfriend~" she teased
"What? No, I was just asking and he's just a friend, don't make it weird" I replied, feeling flustered and bothered all of a sudden.
What is happening to me? Am I getting sick?...
"PLEASE DON'T REPLACE US, HANA-CHAN" Nina shouted, hugging my arm with tears in her eyes.
"I'm not going to replace ya" I replied while placing my hand on her head.
"YAYYYYY" she shouted, feeling happy again.
"She's so bipolar, she reminds me of someone..." Haruko commented, sweat-dropping at Nina's sudden mood change.
"OH YEAHH, COACH FUJIWARA IS SICK TODAY!!! WHICH MEANS, NO PRACTICE!!!" Nina hollered.
"Yer should be wishing her to get well soon, not celebrating that there's no practice" I scolded her.
"Why can't you let me enjoy the moment, Hana-chan?" Nina whines.
This girl is beginning to really concern me...
I only sighed in response until I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.
I brought my phone out and looked at the contact name.
'Kita Shinsuke'
I opened the message.
Miya, I need your help
Is it the twins again?
Yes, I'm not at school today because I'm sick and I'm getting a huge amount of messages from the members saying that they won't stop fighting
Oh gosh, I'll go to the gym right now
Thank you
After reading Kita's message, I put my phone away and sighed.
"What's wrong, Nana?" Nina asked.
"I need to break up another fight, go on ahead...and what's with that nickname?" I questioned, looking at her.
"Ah ok, and for your information, I quite like that nickname so I decided to call you that!!" Nina exclaimed.
"..."
I walked towards the gym, hearing a loud ruckus inside.
You would expect the school band rehearsing in there...I actually think that they would be louder than the band...
I thought, opening the doors and seeing the members standing off to the side, looking at me with helpless expressions.
Oh these poor things...there's no coaches or supervisors here either...
A tall boy with tanned skin and a buzzcut walked towards me, stopping in front of me.

"Oh? Aran?" I questioned, recognising the boy from the twin's childhood.
"Hello, Hana, it's been a while" he replied with a smile.
"It has, you've grown a lot" I commented.
"Thanks, I'm guessing Shinsuke messaged you...please help us..." Aran said almost hopelessly.
"Of course" I replied before walking to the twins, unnoticed by them.
"YER CAN'T EVEN HIT MY TOSSES PROPERLY, YER UNWORTHY PIECE OF TRASH"
"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THAT FROM SOMEONE WITH THE PERSONALITY OF SEWAGE WATER"
"WHAT DID YER SAY, YER SHIT?!"
I grabbed both of their ears and pulled harshly.
"OOOWWWW" they howled.
"Didn't I tell ya to stop causing trouble for yer teammates a week ago..." I questioned.
"..u-uhm...y-yes..." Atsumu answered, feeling a dark aura coming from his sister.
"And what did ya do..." I continued, slightly gripping their earlobes.
"OW- w-we caused trouble..." Osamu answered, pained.
I sighed in annoyance and let go of their ears, the twins rubbed their ears trying to relive their pain.
"Go back to practice and try not to cause another scene" I told them, walking to the entrance.
As I was about to leave, a voice stopped me.
"Hana, can yer actually stay? I don't think the twins will remain this peaceful for long" Aran asked, almost begging.
I turned and looked to him, then the twins, who were glaring at each other.
"Alright..." I sighed out, going back to the rest of the team with Aran.
"Okay guys, this is Miya Hana and she'll be supervising our practice today, introduce yourselves please" Aran called as the members began to introduce themselves.
Practice wasn't as bad as I thought it would be...
There were a couple of times when the twins would start to get rowdy, but other than that, I enjoyed watching the boys practice.
The twins have improved much more...I'm impressed...
I thought, thinking back to their impressive synchronisation.
I wonder how Kita is doing...I should check up on him...he normally doesn't get sick...
I thought, slightly concerned about his health.
"I won't be able to walk you two home, I have something to do, so don't cause any trouble and go straight home" I told my brothers.
"Ok, stay safe, Nee-san" Osamu replied, indifferent.
"And WHERE do yer think yer going, young lady?" Atsumu questioned, putting his hands on his hips.
"...I'm older than ya, Tsumu" I sweat-dropped at his sudden protective behaviour.
"But still!!! Where are yer goi-" he was cut off by Osamu dragging him out of the gym to go home.

I looked at my brothers' disappearing figures until I was tapped on the shoulder.
"Aren't yer going home?" Aran questioned.
"Oh no, I was actually going to ask you if yer knew where Kita lived, he's sick" I explained.
"Oh I see, I actually live close by so I'll take ya to him" he offered.
"Thanks, Aran" I replied, smiling up at him.
.
.
.
"The twins are more energetic than I remember" Aran noted, looking at me
"They got harder to handle as they grew, I'm pretty sure I already have grey hairs" I explained, sighing.
Aran laughed, patting my back.
"I feel bad for ya"
After practice ended, Aran and I walked to a convenience store so I could get some things for Kita.
We continued our conversation before we arrived at his house.
"This is yer stop, if yer need anything just shout, I'm only 5 houses down" Aran said, pointing his house out.
"Alright, thanks Aran" I waved.
"Don't mention it" Aran replied as he waved goodbye, walking off.
I looked to the house in front of me, walking up to the entrance, knocking on it.
I wonder if anyone is home...
I thought before the door opened to a sweet looking elderly lady.
"Oh hello! Are you one of Shin-chan's friends? I'm Kita Yumie, his grandma" she asked, smiling sweetly, reminding me of my own grandmother.
Shin-chan?...thats very cute...
"I am, my name is Miya Hana, it's nice to meet you, Kita-san" I replied, bowing politely as I smiled.
"Ah there's no need for that child, come in!" she beckoned.
"Hai, sorry for intruding" I replied, taking off my shoes before walking inside.
"Ah you're very polite, Hana-chan" she noted, smiling.
"Thank you" I replied, smiling back.
Her smile is so much like Obaa-san's...
I thought, fondly.
"His room is just down the hall and to the right, go on" she grinned, before going to the living room.
"Thank you" I replied before walking to Kita's room.
I knocked on the door, hearing nothing in return.
He must be asleep...
I thought while opening the door and going inside.
I looked towards the bed to see a big lump under the blankets.
There were many bunches of tissues on top of his bedside table.
He must feel very unwell...
I put the plastic bag down on his bedside table after cleaning it and went to his desk and proceeded to take out notes and school work.
"Miya?" a groggy voice called out.
I turned to meet tired brown eyes, messy hair and a confused looking Kita, sitting on the bed.
"Hello, Kita, are yer feeling any better?" I asked him, pulling a chair next to his bed and sitting down
"Better than this morning, but what are yer doing here?" he questioned.
"I just came to drop off some things for ya" I explained, looking at his messy hair.
"Yer hair is normally so neat and tidy, Shin-chan~" I teased while laughing as I stood and combed my hands through his hair, trying to fix it.
"Oh shut up" he replied back, leaning into my hands as I continue to fix his hair, too tired to come up with a comeback.
"There all finished" I announced, admiring my work and sitting down.
"T-thanks" he stuttered, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
He's so adorable when he's tired...what?...
"I left some school work on yer desk" I told him, ignoring the warm feeling I got.
"Although you didn't have to..." he murmured.
"Nonsense, yer sick, and I happen to care about ya, that includes yer health as well" I replied, looking into his tired eyes.
"Yer very kind, thank you" he replied, holding my hands, smiling.
"It's no problem...there's medicine and snacks inside, get well soon, Kita" I softly replied, placing a kiss on his forehead and tucking him back into bed.
Kita feel asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow, quiet snoring could be heard throughout the room.
I quietly chuckled and caressed his hair before returning the chair back to its place and walking out of his room, closing the door as softly as I could.
"Yer very sweet, Hana-chan, thank you for caring" Kita's grandmother said, her smile reaching her eyes.
"It wasn't a problem, I'll be taking my leave now, have a good evening" I replied, bowing respectfully.
"Would you like to stay for dinner, Hana-chan? I'm sure you're hungry" she offered.
"Oh that won't be necessary, my younger brothers are home by themselves and I need to make dinner for them, I'll just eat with them" I replied, smiling at her kindness.
"I see, stay safe and go home straight away, we wouldn't want to keep your brothers waiting" she chimed.
"Have a goodnight, Kita-san" I called.
"Have a goodnight, Hana-chan and just call me 'Obaa-san'!" she replied, waving to me.
"Hai...Obaa-san"

The Silver Mana - Book 1: Initiate
I used to be a healthy, young guy with a normal life - I had a career planned in professional soccer, a girlfriend, lots of hobbies, and loads of fun. Until the accident. Which changed my life. A few years later I had adjusted to my new reality, adjusted to being in a wheelchair, adjusted to having someone take care of me 24/7. And then the world changed. Old people and kids did not make it. And neither was I supposed to make it. But never count me out. If anything, I am tenacious. This new world was different. People could do magic. And there were monsters. And what about me? I had mana as well, silver mana. Which no one else seemed to have. The only problem was, I did not know what to do with it. Until I really needed to. Author's note: This is the rewrite of Silver Mana. The first bunch of chapters (until I will have caught up to level 2 of the dungeon) should be quite familiar to people that have read the original. There are some changes in content, but the story follows the original fairly closely for at least the first 150-200 pages. Most of the changes are in the writing, and some of the details of how things work. A few of the side characters get a bit more attention too. Some general comments to avoid disappointment: 1. The MC likes to swear. If you object to reading the word "fuck" at least once and usually multiple times each chapter don't read the book. "Fuck" is such a great, allencompassing word... fuck that; what the fuck?; fuck me! Fuck! one word, expressing so many nuances. And, frankly, the people I know that use fuck as a swear word.. they often use it a lot. 2. If you are looking for immediate progression, rapid advancement of the story, etc.... read another book. This one takes a bit. 3. I am NOT Pirateaba (who is writing The Wandering Inn) or anyone close to that level of productivity. If you expect to read 10k words every 3 days, or even just once a week... sorry. I've got a busy life. This is for fun, I have no patreon, paypal, anything, so I write when it is fun and however much is fun. Not more. And sometimes that turns out to be a decent amount, sometimes nothing. I have another book (Marrow) so that complicated things - basically I switch between the two whenever the muse strikes me.

Iron and Wood - A Tale Of Empire and Clans
For centuries, the Midlands had been split into fragments. A once glorious, united Empire has become a shadow of its former self. Unity has not returned, and not for the lack of trying. The greatest of these successor states were the Li Dynasty to the south, the rulers of old, and the Emerald Empire to the North, with its vibrant vitality. Unity is the end goal, and both will sacrifice anything to attain this elusive dream. For unity would surely solve the conflict that had long plagued this once prosperous continent. The Ironwood Clan was a prime player. Some would consider them the ones holding the reigns to the horse named 'Unification'. Iron and wood were the backbones of civilization; similarly, the Ironwoods were the backbones of the Northern Empire, and by extension, the people of the Midlands. Their methods, as questionable as they might be, had strengthened the North. Yet, were they enough? In the midst of it all, a young Ironwood who had lost his path must once again find his way. For the sake of his own wellbeing; for the sake of his clan; and for the sake of the Empire and its subjects. However, is he willing to sacrifice for the good of all? Is he willing to condemn some for the sake of others? Is he willing to make the right, albeit harsh, decisions? Only the heavens would know. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, events and incidents are the products of the author’s imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. Additionally, any views and beliefs expressed by the characters are not the author's own. The story is also not an endorsement of any actions taken within. The 'profanity' and 'sexual content' warning tags are there to be safe (and to leave room for potential future changes), but for now these two things are not inside this novel. This is my take on 'cultivation', though it might be somewhat disconnected from the general idea of the genre. Release schedule: Two chapters a week. The cover was created using wombo art. While I believe that creations using the app are in the public domain, if that is not the case, I will take it down.
