One of the biggest inconsistencies in Spongebob Squarepants has always been when the Krabby Patty was invented and who invented it. In older episodes of Spongebob, Mr. Krabs tells us that the recipe for the Krabby Patty is an old Krabs family recipe that they (and Spongebob) only know. But in the

Season 5 episode "Friend or Foe" we learn that Mr. Krabs and Plankton has created the Krabby Patty together but when they got into a fight they ripped the paper that it was written on, Plankton gets the only bad ingredient (Chum) and Krabs gets the rest of the ingredients that caused the Krabby Patty to be delicious. So the big question is, which one is true? Is it really an old family recipe or did Mr. Krabs invent it? Let's talk about that.

A lot of this theory can be explained thanks to the season 4 episode "Dunces and Dragons". In this episode, Spongebob and Patrick go to a medieval restaurant and attend a jousting tournament. After both of the seahorses buck them off, they are launched all the way back to actual medieval times were they meet their friends' ancestors, one of them being King Krabs. Spongebob finds out that Krabby Pattys soothes a dragon jellyfish they fight at the end. At the end of the episode we see King Krabs cooking Krabby Pattys to keep the dragon jellyfish calm and says that he could sell them. So this means that Spongebob gave King Krabs the recipe and that is where the Krabs Family recipe started. So this means that this is the real Krabby Patty origins? Well, not quite.

Both of the origins of the Krabby Patty are true, but the one we learn about in "Friend or Foe?" Is the origin of the origins of the Krabby Patty. You see, after Spongebob and Patrick saved Bikini Bottomshire, that timeline became a separate timeline then the "Friends or Foe?" Timeline. Before the two went back in time, Planktonamor successfully destroyed Bikini Bottomshire with the dragon jellyfish, then centuries later Mr. Krabs and Plankton inventes the Krabby Patti. So any time we hear in an episode that the recipe was made by Krabs and Plankton, it's the original timeline, but when we hear that it is an old Krabs family recipe, it is the alternate timeline where King Krabs gets the recipe from Spongebob!

Weird, isn't it? How a simple cartoon has such a complex story over a burger!
