Never thought I'd be talking about this movie. Well except that one theory.... Well, I'll leave that one for another time!
Now for this chapter I'm not going to be talking about every Ghoul and Goblin and whatnot as they are just monsters and creatures of the night (Werewolf, Witches, Vampires, etc.) but I will be talking about 9 characters and about how they died. So, let's start!
#1. Jack Skellington - Burned
Our beloved Jack was burned to death.
Remember in the beginning of the movie and he put the torch in his mouth and caught fire? When I human body catches fire, without it being put out, all that's left are bones.
#2. Sally - Dismembered
This one is pretty easy to explain. She is always falling apart and sewing herself back together.
#3. Dr. Finklestein - Poisoned
The Doctor is always being poisoned by Sally but since he is already dead, he just gets knocked out and gets a headache. More for him not dying is because he already died once from poison so it just doesn't effect him.
#4. The Mayor - Broken Neck
That's why he can turn his head, that and because he is bipolar and instead of just being able to frown and smile, when he came back as with his new body in Halloween Town his head had 2 faces, for the mood swings and it spins around because his neck got broken.
#5. Lock - Frozen
When people freeze their lips turn blue and their face turns white. He also wears a Devil costume. Fire is usually associated with the Devil (like Hades in Hercules) hence his desire to be warm
#6. Shock - Suicide
Her lips are pale, kinda purple, which happens when you die from the cause of anything besides burning, drowning, or freezing. So she either died of natural cause or committed suicide.

#7. Barrel - Drowned
Barrel has green lips (which happens if you drown) and seaweed like hair. A body doesn't decompose like it would usually, underwater the skin tends to to the body more.
#8. Oogie Boogie - Skinned
Oogie "skin" in the movie is sewn together on the sides. Perhaps when he died after they skinned him, he left his body which got eaten by bugs so that's why his insides are made entirely out of bugs.
# Zero - Electrocuted
Zero is of course a ghost but unlike the ghosts we see come out of the pumpkins in the beginning of the movie, Zero is more smoke like. He even had a lightbulb for a nose.
Zero's death also supports Jacks. So Zero was human Jacks dog as well. One night while Jack is asleep, Zero is just hanging out then, Oh! What's this? A cord! Let's chew on it! Zero being the curious pup he is decides to chew that cord up. But then she gets electrocuted and dies from it, the sparks leading to the house catching on fire resulting in Jack's Death.
